Didn't appreciate the service tonight. Ordered the two chicken fried rice bowls special tonight. We asked for one of the bowls veggies to be only broccoli. The employee says they can't accommodate that because they don't allow modifications on that special. I've gone to the Habachihana location in Huntington Beach many times. We always get the same special, and they're always able to make the change. I tell him that. He says that his cook said no, and they aren't able to do it. TLDR, I didn't end up ordering with them and called the Orange location to place there instead. They were able to make the change easily. Absolutely overpriced garbage. I ordered the 'steak and shrimp' combo expecting an actual combo, but instead they threw in the cheapest, saddest cut of steak they could find and maybe 4 tiny shrimp. The rest of the plate? Just rice and veggies, clearly there to pad it out and make it look like a real meal. And don't even get me started on the drink situation, there wasn't one included. So this pathetic excuse for a combo cost extra on top of everything else. Then the bill came. **$42.** Yes, you read that correctly, FORTY TWO DOLLARS for a plate that was 80% filler. I was floored. I'm sad to leave this review cause i used to LOVE this place, i've been here 20+ times. I never had any issues and it was always amazing. Well it's been a few years since i've dined here and idk what happened. We waited an hour and a half for our food (2 entrees), and it wasn't even busy? There were only 2 employees and they both looked like teenagers, which is fine but obviously with the long wait time, they weren't very experienced. It wasn't clean inside, it was dirty and kind of gross. The girl at the register gave us free soda for the wait time which was nice but we aren't soda drinkers so we didn't even drink it. The food also wasn't as good as i remember. For the insanely high price they charge it just isn't worth it anymore. read more

I am so glad we decided to leave Disney Parks and grab food outside. My guy found Habachihana Grill and we were ecstatic to see the location wasn't too far from where we were. Parking was easy since the restaurant has it's own private lot. Seating is available outside and inside. The menu is very straight forward and all you really have to do is decide on a protein and a carb. Protein ranges from chicken, steak, shrimp, salmon, and even LOBSTER!! YES, I SAID LOBSTER!! The plates are severed with white rice or veggies and for an upcharge, you are welcome to a fried rice, garlic noodle, or yakisoba noodle upgrade. Our meal for the night: Kid's Chicken Teriyaki Bowl (w/ White Rice) Extra Side of Veggies Duo Plate: Filet Mignon + Chicken (w/ Fried Rice and added Veggies) Food: The Kid's chicken teriyaki bowl was a sad sight at first glance- there was a heaping of white rice, scattered chicken placed on top, and that was it. The rice was on the drier side and was difficult for our 5 year old to eat, absolutely not with the $14.50 price. The side of veggies was good but was loaded with onions. Lucky for us, my kid and I love us some onions so we won't complain. Ordering this on the side to accompany any kids meal is recommended. The filet and chicken plate was a beauty- proteins lay on the bed of fried rice and the side of veggies included added for a nice pop of color. The steak was cooked medium rare as requested and was 100% seasoned really well. Meat was tender and went well with HG's Yum Yum + Diablo sauce. The meal ended up being $73 prior to tip and while it may seem a little steep, the quality in the filet mignon itself was worth it. Staff is hard working and nice. Walking in, the place looks a bit down. However, the lady at the front was very nice and helpful with suggestions. The wife and I weren't too hungry so we ordered the Garlic Edamame and Steak and Shrimp to share. One of the kitchen guys brought out our food because the lady was busy helping another table. The quality of meat is great. I ordered the Ny steak and chicken. Like others said, the fried rice a must. For some reason it hits a little different then any other habachi spot I've been to. Service is awesome because they really cater to you if you haven't been here before. The cashier guy was really nice and recommended the sauces he felt was best for my order. The price is crazy tho. I paid basically $50 for a chicken and steak plate, which is insane. If you add on the fried rice, the 2 protein plate is close to $50. This is just a one person platter. I really hope they could find a way to have these prices go down. I understand we are in rough times, but paying almost $50 for chicken and a NY steak is just madness. Overall, the food is good. It was my first time here so I also added the Diablo sauce (in a packet) which was good, teriyaki- blah, and the garlic butter which was pulled from the refrigerator and was hard and cold- yuck. The service was ok- nothing special. You order at the counter and go up to get your food (like a fast food restaurant). The cashier was nice and the man who called me to the counter for my order. I waited about 20 minutes for my food. The price and ambience- BIG YIKES!! For one steak, chicken, and shrimp plate (no drink) the bill was initially like $54. I was shocked and asked if that was the lunch plate in which the cashier said 'oh, I forgot,' and updated it to $40+. I was still shocked but paid thinking maybe it is worth it. When I got my plate, it was in a to go container the size of my hand. Yes I got 3 meats but it seemed to be the same portion if I got 1 meat. Also, the ambience in the place doesn't call for a $40 lunch plate. It's not a fancy upscale place. It looks sketch outside and the inside is very basic. If the plates are this ridiculously high, at the very least, take orders and serve customers at their table, deliver food on plates, and don't charge for the sauce. This spot was recommended by a friend who was eating it next to me and it smelled SO good. So I went ahead and made sure to get myself a plate! Had the filet mignon and chicken plate and yes it was as good as it smelled. It's cool that you get to try some different sauces with your entree. The garlic butter was super garlicky! So if you're planning on kissing anyone maybe rethink that haha my partner had the garlic noodles while I got the white rice for our sides. I was really happy the noodles were seasoned well because that can be a hit or miss in some spots! The chicken was a liiiiiittle too dry for my taste albeit seasoned but the yum yum sauce saved it. There's plenty of parking around the restaurant. But I noticed everyone was ordering to go. We just happened to want to sit down that evening. We waited and waited and heard a couple complain that they waited an hour. Once they went up to the counter they brought out the food. We were a few minutes behind then and we gave them time. Our food finally came out 48 minutes later... the larger pieces of veggies weren't steamed or cooked all the way and mine and my husbands fried rice that we upgraded was barely fried and had lots of areas of plain white rice... really disappointed because I've been to another location and it was amazing to me. I have been meaning to check this place out for months. Finally stopped in for a go last Friday. We were greeted immediately by the friendly cashier upfront, that speaks volumes.. She gave advice and personal favorites of hers from the menu to my coworker and I. After some debate, I went with the lunch special of the new york steak and chicken combo, upgraded to the fried rice, and it came with a little side salad. The steak was juicy but did not have the bang of flavor I was expecting, and the chicken was a little dry. Oddly enough, the fried rice grew on me the more I ate it, I just wish it had more egg/small veggies in it. The yum yum sauce is AWESOME and made the meat choices better. I even put some on the salad. I tell no lie, it lives up to its name. The garlic butter was decent, but takes a second to soften up enough to use on the steak. For $18.99 (and $2.99 for upgrading to fried rice), I think they could have done a little better. The service is great, the restaurant is modern and very clean, but I just don't quite feel the food amount and quality lives up to the premium lunch special price. The filet mignon was calling my taste-buds, which comes with a steep price. If I give this place a round 2, I might make the investment. read more

Habachihana Grill offers Japanese fare, including bowls, plates, entrees, and sushi. I ordered the lunch special (11am to 3pm) chicken teriyaki bowl as well as a NY steak bowl. The woman taking my order kept over charging me and I had to correct her each time. Finally she got it half right, but still over charged me by $2 on the chicken bowl. I didn't notice until after my order was placed. Chicken Teriyaki Bowl ($12.99) - This should have been $10.99 during lunch time per the menu, but she charged me the dinner pricing. This consisted of a small bowl of white rice, topped with tender pieces of chicken with veggied with a light teriyaki sauce on top. This dish wasn't bad, it's just that it was over priced given the quantity. NY Steak Bowl ($14.99) - This was just like the chicken bowl, except it came with tender pieces of steak prepared medium rare. I enjoyed the flavor, it's just that bowl was once again over priced. Overall the food isn't bad here. It's just that the portions are too small given the price point.
