Stopped here for lunch driving around the North Shore area. They have lots of menu items to choose from. I ordered the Hamburger Steak Plate. It had grilled onion and brown gravy on top. It was pretty good and also tried the haupia chocolate pie. That was really yummy. The cashier girl was nice that took my order and they call your number and you pick your food up inside the store. There was outdoor seating and across the little parking lot, they had restrooms available. Over by the restrooms there were some pretty flowers and plants. Nice little place. read more

I would come here every time I was in Hawaii and raved about their Chocolate Haupia pie. I came this past Thursday around 3:30pm. It was busy, no real organization with lining up and ordering. I went straight to the fridge to grab my pre-made and pre-packaged Chocolate Haupia pie like I always have done and unfortunately, I did not like the taste this time. Subtle hints of coconut was great but the chocolate was not as good as I remembered it to be and the crust was no longer crunchy. Staff seemed unpleasant, no greeting or "thank you" after purchase. Walked in to 2 people in front of us in line to order. The dining patio was very empty, so we expected a short wait. Wrong. Waited 30 minutes for our single chicken and cheese sandwich. 30 minutes when the place is empty with MAYBE 10 total people eating / waiting is excessive. Got the sandwich. Departed the parking lot immediately in a hurry to just get away from this establishment. Opened the container to a pool of grease under the bottom of the sandwich, soaking the entire bottom bun. Upon trying to pick it up the bread just fell apart as it was completely saturated. Many improvements could be made here. read more

My mom and I came to Ted's at the recommendation of our private tour driver while touring the island. I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but I figured if our driver suggested the place, we'd stop. Ted's is known for their pies. They also offer food items, but we bypassed the line for food and went straight to the cashier to pay for our pie slices. The pies are in the fridge and you can get what they have available. We purchased strawberry guava and chocolate haupia (coconut). I also bought a cinnamon roll and mini chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies. I ate the pie later that day after taking it out the fridge. I think they should sit out and get to room temp. I found that the pies tasted way better that way. My chocolate haupia was tasty and the strawberry guava wasn't bad either, but the chocolate was a lot better. I'd eat some pie again! I didn't taste the cinnamon roll, but the chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies were good. I prefer a soft cookie and Ted's are crispy/crunchy, but they were still tasty. The disappearance (and reappearance) of Ted's pies from local supermarkets forced me to travel to Pupukea to visit their store. Isn't that a good excuse? I hear tell the pies run a few dollars less at the store, maybe justifying the gas it took to get here (lol). What you'll find is more than just pies, though. We didn't try their savory food, which seems to get mixed reviews here, but we did get some non-pie sweet goodies like chocolate croissants and a pecan cinnamon roll. The chocolate croissant was good and covered in a thick layer of semi-sweet chocolate. The pecan roll was about 3" thick with a nice sticky pecan topping. It went great with a cup of coffee! Yes, we did get our favorite chocolate haupia pie but we haven't gotten to it yet. I'm sure it's going to be the same glorious decadent pie we've come to expect. Service is great and speedy. Had to stop and get pie while taking family around the island. Our fave is the chocolate haupia pie but we discovered the chocolate CUSTARD pie! I think it's now our favorite now. Not only they have baked goods but they also have hamburgers and plate lunches. We got the hamburger steak plate which came with 2 scoop rice, mac salad and lots of grilled onions. I asked for the gravy on the side since I don't like my plate drowned in gravy. The hamburger was nicely done but salty! Even without the gravy. Tasted good but too salty for us. There's tables to eat at right outside the entrance but go over to the left of the building -there's shaded tables near the restrooms that people overlook. Ample parking too. Great time I had at Ted's Bakery. The service was great. The staff were very nice and my order had came out very quick. I had gotten the Shoyu Chicken, which came with rice and mac salad, however you can sub out the mac salad if you don't like it, which I choose to sub French fries for it. The shoyu chicken portion sizes were a lot, plenty for what you pay. The French fries were very good as well and did not taste plain or bland. I will be returning again once I come back to Oahu. read more

While we were on the North Shore, we stopped by Ted's Bakery for the famous Chocolate Haupia pie. I love that you can buy a whole pie, or a single slice. You can grab most of their flavors in slice form from a fridge case in the bakery. To my surprise, Ted's is more than a bakery. You can order hot food and there is a huge pastry case with lots of non-pie pastries. In addition to our haupia slice, my daughter picked a cinnamon roll, which looked a little dry to me but she seemed to enjoy it. Sadly, Ted's doesn't currently sell their wares in local grocery stores so you really have to go all the way to the North Shore and beyond, but I'm happy we did. Best Loco moco ever. Addicting Garlic shrimp. Delectable Katsu Chicken. Everything came with a delicious scoop of mac salad that had a hint of lemon. I came here multiple times during my vacation and it's easily my number one spot in all of Oahu. The people behind the counter are the nicest people. Every so often I'll buy a Ted's pie from a grocery store in town. I usually get the chocolate haupia. That's the pie that they are known for. We were passing by, so I had to stop in the bakery. Besides bakery items, they also sell plate lunches. I've heard great things about their plate lunches, but today I just purchased a slice of pie. My friend doesn't like haupia. We went with the chocolate mac nut. It was good and not overly sweet. I could taste the pieces of mac nut. The golden crust had a slight crisp to it. They have so many flavors there is sure to be something that everyone will love. They also have food which looked super delicious but our stomach couldn't handle any more food that day since we had been eating all along the North Shore. Macadamia nut pie has chunks of macadamia nuts, good but I like the chocolate haupia the best. 11am on a Monday, not a lot of selection left for single slices. There were only chocolate haupia cream, banana cream, and macadamia nut pie slices left. We were told that they will not replenish again until 3pm. Very bummed because I really wanted to try the guava strawberry pie. The mini cookies in a cup are really good. I bought them and packed them in my luggage. These are my two favorites: Strawberry Guava Pie/Cake: if you live strawberries and guavas this is your JAM. The creamy pie filling is slight ly sweet with real fruit flavors. Just the right balance of strawberry and guava. The cake I think is even better IMO. Chocolate Haupia Pie: Anyone who who goes to the islands knows this is a classic pairing. Loved this one! The Chantilly that tops this lies is light and semi sweet allowing the chocolate haupia to be the star. Very delish! The lines are long unless you get there early and early is what you want. Cause they will sell out of flavors if you get there too late. You have options to buy slices it full pies. And they also serve breakfast and lunch type options. But I only go for the pie. Honestly if I were still hungry after Jenny's shrimp truck then I would've gotten a Loco Moco here but I was so full I just had to stop by for dessert. I heard about this place from my little brother he told me this was a must stop if we're gonna be around the north shore area. Anyway this is one of the best coconut style pies that I've had so far. The coconut cream tasted so fresh and light it wasn't overly sweet which I hate about pies. Sometimes you just want a light dessert after making 5 stops and eating like a fat kid. The chocolate reminded me of the Mexican chocolate pie from Pie Hole, a really famous pie place. Their pie is legitimately good. To me it's the locally flavor and taste. This maybe one of the good pie I've ever had. Chocolate Haupia- was the one recommended from one of the Auntie employees (lol). She said it was one of their best selling pies. After a fun-filled day at the beach, we were starving and ready to eat. Ted's Bakery had been on my list, and since it was conveniently close, we headed over. We decided to share a loco moco, and I'm so glad we did because the portion was huge--the container felt heavy when we got it! The loco moco was absolutely delicious and hit the spot perfectly. However, the real star was their famous Chocolate Haupia Cream Pie. Now I understand why this place has such a great reputation--everyone loves coming here for good reason! The setting was exactly how I imagined a restaurant in Hawaii to be--right off the road, close to the beach, with trucks carrying surfboards driving by. The outdoor seating was a great touch, adding to the laid-back, island vibe. The staff was friendly, and considering how busy it was, the food came out relatively quickly. As for the pricing, it was more than reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. Next time, I'll definitely be ordering two slices of pie!
