Milkshakes here are fantastic! However, the two breakfasts I had were disappointing & I was so looking forward to them. The mushroom, cheese, spinach omelet was rubbery & dry (I could only eat a few bites), as was the egg white omelet - & the coffee was poor quality, tasted almost like chicory. The applewood smoked bacon was okay, but tiny. The hash browns were good. My husband had the chicken barbecue sandwich which was mediocre. The menu has good ideas, but the cook needs some sensitivity & attention to details. read more

Occasionally, my girlfriends and I get together for breakfast. Being a creature of habit, I was not excited when Ted's was suggested. I had never been there. Well, after the first bite of french toast, I thought "this is my new favorite breakfast place." Just as I thought it, my other friend said it out loud. The food was awesome! On a night where most places in the town center were filled to the brim, Ted's Bulletin sat us down right away and provided us with excellent service. The food was excellent, and my girlfriend was very thirsty and Sam the waitress ensured that her water glass was filled every minute. She also cracked open a fresh bottle of malt vinegar for my boardwalk styled French fries which I thoroughly enjoyed. Found this place through mouth-watering pictures on Instagram and finally went with a friend last week. Initially planned on getting brunch but immediately saw the milkshakes and sandwiches on the menu and changed our minds. I got the Cali Club w/fries and an oreo milkshake (most delicious meal I've had in a long time) and my friend got the Sloppy Joe and peppermint milkshake (she was in love). Highly recommend Teds Bulletin for families/dates/friends, am already planning on going this weekend with my sister to finally order off their breakfast menu and definitely try their famous homemade poptarts. read more

Truly one of the best hamburgers I have ever had in my life was their Southwest (West Virginia) burger. It was juicy, and had lots of great flavor. So why the one star off? I wasn't very impressed with their breakfast. So many people talked about their homemade pop tarts, that I had to try them...I guess my hopes were too high, and the pop tart was just meh. But to each their own. It is very difficult to get a table for breakfast at the RTC location on the weekends, so clearly many people find it an outstanding breakfast place. The service was not great, the chicken fried steak was chewy and lacked seasoning, the pot pie was very dry as if the chef forgot the sauce inside, and the burger was completely overcooked and dry. Reston has many good restaurants but this is not one of them. I haven't been to any other location but based on dinner last evening, I would not return to Ted's Bulletin. We probably should have realized there was a problem when we walked in and the restaurant was mostly empty. I would not waste my time and money here again. read more

This was my first time trying this location. I'd been to Ted's in the Mosaic District last winter with friends, and found it appealing. My wife and I opted to try Ted's in Reston for a quick bite with our toddlers. The best part of our experience was that the host provided our kids with chocolate milk immediately after seating us. And then we waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. After 10+ minutes a server stopped by and asked if we were ready. No introduction, no welcome, no specials, no nothing. Just "are you ready?" As I asked my wife if she was ready, the server turned and walked away without saying a word. WTF?? To be honest, I instantly regretted ever stepping foot in that restaurant, and wanted to pick up my kids and get out. Eventually, Miss Personality returned, took our orders (I knew I had to speak quickly before she fled again), and served our meals. Gotta admit, the food was meh at best. I saw our server chatting with other customers, so I don't know why we were treated like that. Maybe she hates kids, or hates people with kids. Who knows. I don't think that fish & chips, a salad, two kid's pancakes, and a glass of $10 cabernet were worth a bill for 70 bucks. My wife apologized for suggesting we go to Ted's this evening, and I can say for sure it will be the last time we ever do. Mediocre food, high prices, abysmal service. read more

Good food, when you get to eat it. On two occasions we've waited an extraordinary amount of time for food and to be seated. Each time we've been given apologies from the staff which almost adds to frustration because they know they have issues and can't seem to mitigate them. There are apparently three bartenders and very few people at the bar, and four hostesses seating everyone but the people who arrived 40 minutes prior. At this point its on me as a customer not to make an attempt given the clear issues at hand. read more

I as well as several other guests I came with are servers. My sister actually used to work as a hostess at UNOs before they went out so she understands how busy it gets on Sunday afternoons. However the service we got today can be described as laughable at best. We didn't get several side items we had ordered and our server didn't bring them out till after we had finished eating. The tomato soup came out chunky and the grilled cheese never came with fries (as it said in the menu it would) We requested honey mustard from three different servers and still left without any. I had to ask for water and our server proceeded to get water without asking if anyone else at the table wanted refills. He was just talking to his coworker right next to the water this whole time. After calling a manager over, she offered us a free dessert- which we really didn't want but we also didn't turn down. BUT they never brought us plates. We literally got up and grabbed plates ourselves from the server station after staring at our dessert for 5 minutes. Not okay- especially after complaining about bad service. read more

We have been here a few times for breakfast and it is good if you know what to order. Anything with eggs usually works out well. The breakfast sandwich is huge and very tasty. Their hash browns are good but could use a bit of seasoning. Stay away from the biscuits - they are dry and hard. I ordered the famous pop tart thing once and was disappointed - extremely sweet and lacking in the blueberry flavor I was hoping for. I actually think I taste more fruit in a real pop tart. However, the service is fast and friendly, the milkshakes are amazing, and the coffee refills are prompt. If you order carefully, you'll walk away satisfied. read more

yum! this place is great for families. the atmosphere is loud; so if your toddler starts screaming, not too many people will notice so you won't get too embarrassed. thats always most important when I'm going out lol. the food is good, the ambience is nice, the staff is friendly. The location is good too - right in reston town center. This place always has crowds in it when we walk by, so we thought we'd give it a try. The space is pleasant and not too loud even when full-- we got seated at one of the high tables, but the raised stools aren't uncomfortable, they just don't have a back on them, so if you have back issues, maybe not for you. We ordered the walk of shame breakfast burrito, which was fine, but not really special at all, and the BLT burger, which was delicious -- moist and flavorful with good fries. We also ordered shakes, both of which were really tasty, but the peanut butter, banana, chocolate one really stole the show. It has chunks of peanuts in it, which makes it a little hard to suck up a straw at times, but it tastes awesome. We were seated right near the kitchen so we watched a lot of dishes go out and we're excited to go back to try to TY Cobb Salad, the Reuben, the Taco Salad, the pot pie, and some poptarts! This is a solid and pleasant restaurant whose menu won't frighten any 'ethnic'-food-fearing relatives, which is a useful thing to have locally! Portions are large, so pace yourself. read more

oh man, i love the people here. i'm not kidding. there are just some great, hard-working, lovely, fun people that run this place. i have eaten here a generous handful of times, and i have absolutely never had an unprofessional or unkind or problematic experience there - ever. their large staff works their fingers to the bone to ensure that their customers are well-taken care of, and they have high standards in their hiring.... each server i have ever had has been friendly, conscientious, really patient with my children, gracious and patient and good-humored about funky requests or elaborate ordering mishaps... they roll with the punches, don't rush you, make sure you are happy with your meal, and generally treat you like you're all sort of one big hungry, happy family.:) ... i want to give a special shout-out to MR. CARLOS, SIR.... he is one of the managers there, and was so attentive to his customers, and so helpful and reasonable and professional in the way he spoke to everyone. he even was lamenting that, on a particularly crazy night, one of his servers (MORGAN, I BELIEVE) had served a huge, huge, raucous table of teenager customers who bought up hundreds of dollars of food, made her work really hard for their many requests, and then totally stiffed her at the end, leaving her almost no tip at all. and the manager was sharing this with me and just expressing how sad he was for her and how hard that kind of thing makes working in that field... those of us working in the restaurant industry know that managers - some are good, some don't really have your back ... but carlos was so empathetic to his staff, so supportive of them, that i was genuinely glad to be giving them my money at the end of the meal because they were all working so hard, and putting their all into it. we also had a great bus-boy named MITCHELL, who was friendly and fast and moved like lightning around the place, getting a ton of people's requests met with a smile and a great attitude. and then there is awesome, crime-stopping KYLE ... Big Kyle behind the bar do not mess with this man! he is a blast, he has great energy and is patient with all manner of requests. he was so generous with my and my kiddos, and so appreciative of any encouragement, showing such a humility about him. he was working the bar and tables that night i was in there and it was nuts for him. but you'd never know it. he just kept it movin' and flew around, making people happy everywhere he went. i tell you what, i'll keep coming back to a place that has a friendly, warm, good-natured bar tender. it makes a big difference. there are also a few women there, a mama or two, whose names escape me but who are such beautiful people. kind to children, empathetic with mothers, patient with peoples confusions and demands.... the women that work there work so hard, and give such a warm, comforting feeling to the entire experience, and you know that isn't easy for them, probably, sometimes. so. please. go to ted's bulletin in reston sometime. remember what kind of place it is: they're not trying to be a michelin star pretentious-food place. they are down-home comfort food, food you can bring all ages to -- for your picky kiddo who just wants plain noodles and grilled cheese? they've got you covered -- or your elderly relatives who don't feel like dealing with a lot of complication and posturing -- they'll have something for them. and if you have a foodie in your party, there are plenty of fresh ingredients in old classics but with a twist. come for the "adult milkshakes" and amazing fries and salads and burgers... stay for the people, the staff. come back for the staff and take care of them well when you do. they are doing a good job, and when people are doing a good job, they should be encouraged and supported. see you guys soon i hope, bulletin-squad! read more

Crappy diner food (burgers, sandwiches, county fried steak, crappy sirloin, fried shrimp, basically run of the mill bar food) that was for some reason expensive as heck. The cooks should learn to not batter the country fried steak while the meat is wet, this causes the steam between the meat and batter, which causes large air pockets, and all your batter to fall off while you cut it. Just pat the meat dry with a paper towel first for gods sake! The gravy was like some crap out of a can. The onion rings sucked, and they only offered ketchup as dipping sauce for them, please try osullivans in Herndon for a lesson in onion rings, theirs are top notch with excellent sauce. The Brussels sprouts were actually good, cooked with bacon and blue cheese. They were the lone shining star of my entire meal. I also had bland Mac n cheese and mediocre mashed potatoes with even cheaper seeming brown gravy on them. I'm pretty sure my waitress was retarded and definately not attentive to my needs. AND when we walked in and asked if there was a wait the hostess simply raised her index finger in a gesture to tell us to hold on a minute, which I found a little rude, since her job is to greet us. The place does serve breakfast all day but lacked to ability to add "sides" of bacon or sausage and without ordering them as entrees which sucked, and besides, Clyde's is killing everything (in good way) as far as great brunch food on the weekends.
