This place is right around the corner from my apt and boy am I glad I stopped by. We came here at 10pm on a Friday night and were seated immediately. The place is dimly light, cozy, but you don't feel crowded, even if you're seated towards the back, next to a wall like we were. We ordered a dozen oysters, braised lamb phyllo pies (YUM), and Melitzanosalata (eggplant dip). I personally wasn't a huge fan of the eggplant dip, but everything else was delicious and at a great price. Even the little salad that came on the side of the phyllo pie was good. From the host to the waitress to the guy who delivered our oysters, everyone was very kind. Definitely coming back! read more

This is a really great place. I went here on a Tuesday night for a first date. I rarely give 5 star reviews. 1) Good selection of beer, drinks and specialty cocktails at very reasonable prices (about $12 - $13 per cocktail, which is a good price for a nice place). 2) Quiet enough that we could hear each other speak with good background music (I think it was 80s). 3) Enough comfortable seating for two. 4) Clean bathrooms, 5) Dark, but not too dark atmosphere. This is our go to place for a casual drink. It's open late and never to quiet or busy, so you get your own space without feeling like loaners. There is some really comfortable cozy seating at the very back, with regular tables just before that and high tops / bar space at the front. The lighting is very dimmed (adding to the coziness) and there are pictures of famous Teds all over the walls (glad to see Teddy Sheringham and not Ted Mosby). Food options are quite sparse - mainly bar snacks and oysters - but what we've had has been nice. Drinks is where is excels - there's always a great selection of beers, cocktails and wines. Exciting new addition to the ever dull murray hill! Have been twice since they opened and will continue to come back. Spacious room with a trendy, but cozy, feel. I love all the black and white photos on the walls and the velvet chairs are super comfy. Haven't tried the food yet but the tapas menu looks tasty and is moderately priced. From the outside this place doesn't look like much. Inside it's a quaint little bar in Murray Hill with dim lighting, soft ambiance and great staff. Their mezcal negroni is a must try on their cocktail list and all of their food is delicious! Some of my faves are the truffle mac and cheese and their chicken pita sandwich. Service aside, Ted's Corner Tavern gets 5 stars. My friend and I dropped by for dinner Friday night, and started out with a draft beer and a jalapeño-infused margarita, respectively. We then placed an order for the sushi-grade octopus, which was like an appetizer salad, and delicious! We followed with an order of the red pepper feta dip, accompanied by warm pita. Even though we were seated at the bar and there weren't an overwhelming number of people there, it nonetheless took nearly an hour for it to come out. I was offered another drink on the house while we waited, which I thought was a good deal since we weren't in a rush. The layout is open and airy, and the lighting dim and welcoming. Ted's was a really nice surprise! Quiet, intimate, and full of pictures of anything -- not just anyone -- that bears the name Ted. A group of us wanted to take our shenanigans to a quieter place, and Ted's was perfect. The service was excellent, and so were the drinks. I tried their hot cider which was super yummy. Among the framed pictures of Teds (ie., Theodore Roosevelt) on the wall, we were all struck by a random picture of a fat hamster. "It's a teddy hamster," explained our server. Touche. This is my favorite bar in the neighborhood. After ten years in Brooklyn, I made the move back to Manhattan and to Murray Hell, of all places. It was not the easiest transition but Ted's has been the silver lining. Most of the bars in the neighborhood are full of 20-something "happy hour steve's" who wear the uniform (button down blue shirts, khakis) and drink Miller Lite - not that there is anything wrong with that. It's just not my scene. Ted's is different. There is usually a seat at the bar and the staff is friendly. You don't get the Joshua Tree crowd, there isn't ever puke outside on the sidewalk. I haven't had the food so I can't attest to it, but the bartenders make great cocktails and play great tunes. Can't ask for more than that. read more

Teds is a beautiful little bar in Murray Hills. I bin here before for dollar oysters, and after work drink. When I had happy hour dollar oysters for first time it wasn't the best oysters I had, but there was Kumamoto oysters today and those were AMAZING!!! Also my favorite thing on the menu is zucchini chips I also had a chance to have Greek yogurt dessert today and it was best Greek yogurt ever!! They also have a great beer selection changing all the time. If you are person actually appreciate a nice IPA or would like to have a conversation with your friends, Ted's is the place in Murray hills :) read more

Came here on a Friday night (530pm) for their happy hour! I believe it ends at 7 or so. Still able to get their $1 oysters and their happy hour drinks which was very well worth the money. thankfully we were able to score a seat near the bar, it was completely packed! the service and bartenders were great, very nice and accomodating. we ordered the pita bread and the dips which was great, small portions but interesting combinations of dips. it is very dark in there so i think its a great date spot, can get a bit loud so it is also good for groups. read more

Not sure of Ted's target audience, especially as it's darn near impossible to hear a carefully planned pickup line short of all-out shouting. That rules out culture. Drinks are $16ish. That rules out recent grads. Orders of non-alcoholic ginger beer are switched to a more expensive (albeit excellent) hard variety. That rules out designated drivers. A last minute decision to grab dinner in our neighborhood of Murray Hill, led us to this cozy, prohibition-esque restaurant. It was far from your typical Greek joint. We ordered the Mini Greek Burgers, Octopus Salad, Lamb Pita Sandwich and a small plate of tzatziki sauce. The burgers came with perfectly crisped fries and feta. We loved the decor and the food was solid. Overall, a great food experience. Can't comment much on the service, we were the only ones there. Although our waitress/bartender was really nice. The tomatoes were fresh and juicy. The octopus was delicious. My favorite part was the simple tzatziki sauce. It was perfect. The burgers were seasoned well. I just prefer a little more red in my red meat. If you're looking for something different then your typical assortment of every fish in the sea, spinach pies and lemon potatoes then this place is it. I used to come here when it was 5th and long....they did a great job with the remodeling and removing the tvs. Its much better now!! They have pictures hanging up of famous ted's- nice touch. Great setting to come for drinks and just hang out. They have a lot of craft beers on tap as well as a few specialty drinks. They have booths and a couch in the back to hang out. Great option for good beer and ambiance. My go to place nearby was closed to the public for a private event and yelp pointed me to Ted's. Im glad I went as it was super comfortable, chill, high end, and had a great assortment of beers. Bartender was cordial and friendly. I had a few different craft beers, chatted a bit and read, exactly what I wanted to do before heading home after a long day. My only suggestion is to have full pint glasses instead of the 'falsies' which quietly pinch off an ounce or two per glass. The prices here are moderate and a full glass would be much better. On the other hand, you can get ample tastes of other beers to try if you request so it equals out. read more

I was in New York for work last week and looked for a bar that had dinner and drinks. Ted'S Corner fit the bill so I checked it out. It was packed when I walked in as there was a corporate event wrapping up. The bartender wasn't super friendly or talkative which didn't give me a great vibe off the bat. If I just stuck with beer I would have given Ted's a higher rating as the beer selection is great. I got the sampler to begin with. You could choose any four beers. I ordered the Truffle Cheddar Pretzel and it was good but the spicy cheddar sauce made it. I was disappointed in the dip trio though as none of the selections were very flavorful. For a change of pace from my normal evening stop on Third Avenue, I decided to try out Ted's Corner Tavern (at the corner of 35th and Third Avenue) and I was pleasantly surprised. Upon walking in, I was surprised at the size of the place. It was smaller than some of my other stops in NYC, but it was not cramped; it was clean, cozy, and comfortable. The bar has a theme too (which I had to ask about because I wasn't sure) - apparently all the pictures in the place are of different "famous" (or in some cases - infamous) individuals named Ted. What I noticed right after that was the wide selection from over 30 craft beers on tap. While looking those over, I took a menu and saw that there were nearly another three dozen bottled beers available to choose from as well. I asked for the Bronx Pale Ale but they had just run out. I asked if they would tap a new keg (as I was willing to wait) and the bartender explained that once they finish up one brand, they rotate in another. She explained that was part of the practice there - to have as many different varieties available. I found that practice surprising as they already had about 30 plus taps open on the wall. Apparently that was about half of the over 60 total brands that they tap (so that's 30 active and a rotation in of another 30). I decided on the American Pale Ale which I found to have a nice, sharp, and robust taste to it. I'm not a wine drinker, but I noticed a number of Red and White selections available. I ordered the Eleni's Meatball Pita sandwich. It arrived fairly quickly and was surprisingly filling (it looked smallish to me, but I was not hungry by the time I was done with it). The seats at the bar have a power strip right below the rail (smart, for those smart phone users that are always draining out their devices). The cost is moderate for Manhattan in the "just right" zone. You're not going to spend an outrageous amount of money but you're not going to find bargain prices either. It is definitely worth the price for the food and the service. read more

I was a little bummed there was no real happy hour drink specials but the oysters made up for it. All in all, it was good. And they also have tables, with flickering candles, that make it comfortable, even romantic, to chat with your sweethearts. The cocktail is delicious. And the beer menu is impressive as well.
