    Hog dog and a split

Going to Ted's is like being around family. It reminds me of the times I've been there with my grandparents, with my niece and after my graduation. The food is always delicious and brings me comfort. If you're from Buffalo it's a staple and if you leave, you have to come back and get some when you visit. It's a must.

Good food. We had a Footlong with Mac-N-Cheese, all-beef with pickle spear and sauerkraut, nacho cheese sauce, fries and onion rings and two drinks. A bit pricey at $35 for two adults.

I noticed when posting this review that all other Ted locations have 4 stars, while this one only had 3 -- so maybe when visiting Buffalo try a different location. I got the regular hot dog with chili and cheese, and my boyfriend got "the works" with ketchup, mustard, onions, relish, hot sauce and a pickle. Also got the onion rings for a side. I would give the onion rings a 2 cause they were super greasy and somewhat soggy, I would give the chili cheese a 3 cause it wasn't bad, just lacked flavor, and "the works" between a 4 and 5. As a fast food chain, I would say this location is pretty average. But they do have Cherry Coke which is a win in my book!

Usual fast food fare Fast, clean and reasonably priced I do have one pet peeve however They have switched napkins and the new ones are fairly useless It probably shouldn't annoy me so much, but it does

Foot long with onion rings and fries. Check out the toppings on that dog!

Another Buffalo chain and institution. There are locations all over the Buffalo area and even one in Arizona. I don't eat at Ted's a whole bunch but when I do I usually enjoy my food. This review mostly pertains to the North Tonawanda location, though I have been to others around town including the Niagara Falls Blvd Amherst location. I usually go with a foot long and a side of fries or onion rings. You'll probably hear people claim that the onion rings here are the best in the world but I've had better. The onion rings are just okay in my opinion. They use Sahlen's hot dogs and cook them just how you ask them to. The hot dogs here are grilled, NOT boiled. I just want to clarify that. The real draw for Ted's is all of their awesome toppings. Seriously they have every topping. I love being able to get a dill pickle spear on my hot dog. Don't ask me why. Also, their special hot sauce is just amazing. Its a little sweet and a little spicy and has just the right amount of kick in it. Fun fact: their special hot sauce is a recipe brought over from Greece by Ted's founder, Ted Lairos. Also, if you don't have easy access to a Ted's location you can buy their hot sauce at Tops to try. I can only give Ted's three stars because you can honestly just cook Sahlen's on the grill at home yourself. That doesn't mean I don't like it though. Three stars for being a Buffalo institution and having a great topping selection.

Looks Like Dirty Black Shoe Laces..!!!

We actually were at the West Amherst location this time and it was not good at all. The dog was fair at best and the rolls were potato rolls which we are not fans of. We also ordered the "SPLIT" side order of half fries and half onion rings. It was horrible...!!! The onion rings looked like black shoe laces and were not good at all...!!! As for the french fries; they might have thrown a dozen fries on the top of the onion rings and that was it and all for almost $7.00 for that side order called the "SPLIT"...!!! It was so bad that we couldn't eat it all even though we were still hungry and so bad that we took pictures of the rings...!!! We decided to email Ted's rather than try to cut in line to complain since it was very busy that day for the dinner crowd. It's been over 2 weeks now and we still have not heard back from anybody at Ted's yet...!!!??? We have decided that we will most likely never go back there or to any other Ted's location. The fact that they didn't acknowledge our email and complaint tells us all we need to know about Ted's.... I would never have posted this if Ted's would have acknowledged us and our concerns but here we are...!!!

I believe this place might only be a buffalo thing? i've heard good things about it. the location i went to seemed to be out of the way from all the others, but the location was fine. we went late but it was clean and normal, kinda reminded me of a wendy's. the hot dogs are pretty good and i guess they better be for mainly being a hot dog place. they do sell beef and regular hot dogs as well as burgers. you can pick toppings to put on, but they also have choices of different hot dogs already made with toppings on it like mac n cheese. i was told to get the onion rings which are pretty good, but not amazing like i was told. i was also told to put vinegar on them as they have many vinegar dispensers to have at your table. i actually coudln't taste much of the vinegar unless i didn't put enough on. i would come here again to probably get a foot long hot dog or a hot dog that already has toppings on it.

Snappy hot dogs, and good fries. Hot dogs are charcoal fired and very tasty. I can see why this place is a Buffalo institution.

Love a good charred hotdog and fries. The service was kind of slow moving but it was good for an easy night out.

It was not busy and we didn't have to wait for a table which is a plus. I ordered smoked turkey, with salad and sweet potato fries and a pg13 which was ginger beer, mint and I added a shot of vodka. When our food came out I had to question what was going on with the sweet potato fries because they had a thick coating and looked beer battered, not at all indicated on the menu. I asked the server, Kelsey W., and she paused and said yea I don't know for sure but if you can't have gluten I wouldn't eat them. I was annoyed at the situation and just took them off my plate but I understand this can happen. The server seemed annoyed and goes on to blame me and says I should have told her. Now will say I did have to go through the salad ingredients and pick most of them out, she didn't ask me about allergies either. And it's not common to add a beer batter coating to sweet potato fries without indicating it in the menu. The menu should be updated asap for other guests. Any other server would apologize for the situation and ask how they can make it better and not blame for a customer for a misunderstanding. After that I realized there was an extra sauce on the tray, I asked her to check with the kitchen to see what was in it, is it safe for me to eat? She came back 15 minutes later and said she will check and have an answer soon. It was not busy, this was not acceptable. Again clearly not showing any help for your guest with a food issue. This showed me she had zero concern or care about this or trying to smooth it over. Finally, towards the end of the meal I realized my water was leaking, had thought it was condensation as it was hot out. My glass, water cup had a huge crack in it. You would have hoped that someone would have seen it before serving it to someone. Clearly a safety issue. I hope I didn't ingest glass. I handed it back to our server and told her this glass needed to be tossed in the trash. Her response was another blank look, she didn't really care and just gave me another shallow I'm sorry. The rest of my meal was tasty and it was a large portion. Everyone else at my table had nice looking food and was happy with it. I will personally not come back here. District 37- it wouldn't hurt to update your menu and add what is gluten safe and indicate what kind of coating is on your sweet potato fries because a lot of people who choose these have special dietary needs. You should also train your staff to help bring up allergy issues with your guests and have more empathy if an issue arises. If this is something a server isn't able to work on they might consider an alternate employment opportunity.

I know the restaurant needs to charge for things because the wings are so reasonable and delicious, but the server should mention the upcharge when offering these items...
