Ted's is great if you have a fairly inexpensive watch to fix as he is not really careful on how he handles watches. If you have an expensive watch, however, then go elsewhere so you know its being handled with care; e.g. worked on using a padded surface, not placed directly on the glass/plastic display case, etc. read more

I have an older Seiko that needed a new battery. I dropped the watch off on Saturday and picked it up a couple of days later the following week. The watch is now functioning and looking good. Bought a leather band for my watch and it broke the first day I wore it. I called the store the next day and he said just bring the band back and he will replace it with no charge. I brought it back the next day and he replaced the band with a better Japan brand watch band. Update: My 44 year old Seiko watch just stopped last week, after i just replaced it 2 months ago. I brought it to Ted's to have him look at it, right away he asked if I had it cleaned. I told him maybe 12 years ago. He stated he can clean it and change the battery for $135, and I can pick it up the next day. Waited, picked it up, and works like a "watch"!! I wrote a very positive review of Ted's Jewelry back in Nov. 2015, and in it, I wrote "He has to keep his door locked because he's been the victim of thefts, so expect to buzz the doorbell, and he'll come and let you in with a smile." Well, I went again to his shop last week (Oct. 15) to purchase a new watchband, and noticed that the whole front door glass was replaced by plywood panels. When I got in, I asked him what happened, and he told me that the previous week he was again the victim of theft during the night, and the thieves took a whole lot of his inventory of jewelry. I felt SO bad for him. He is such a good, honest person, with complete integrity, and does his work with such care. Anyway I would just like to encourage people to patronize him, especially now, when he's recently suffered such a loss. I needed to get a 16" white gold chain for a present. I found Ted's on yelp with high ratings and messaged him. I got a response very quickly. The store is close to my home so I decided to look there. I found a beautiful chain. I also needed some jewelry repaired and decided to have him fix it. I had a ring to be sized and some earrings to be fixed. Everything turned out beautifully. I can now wear it all and the jewelry looks great. Be careful, though. I take my rings to be resized at Ted's because he works in the open where you can watch his work. I had a bad experience at Zales so now I will only take my rings somewhere where I can watch them size my rings. The first couple of times I brought my ring in, he was able to do the work right away while I waited. Other times, I could come back in a few hours. I rarely do reviews, but in this case I'm going to make an exception because I want to spare someone the grief I've experienced today. If you have a good piece of jewelry that needs repair, even a fairly simple repair....(no soldering, etc.) do not take it to Ted's. He ruined a $300 American Indian Sterling Silver and Turquoise Bracelet that was a simple stone replacement, for which I provided the stone. He got glue everywhere, on the edge of the bezel, the opening in the back has a glob of glue he didn't bother to clean off and he scratched the bracelet as well. He seemed to think that because the glue is transparent it doesn't matter whether it shows or not. A Mother-of-Pearl Pendant was completely ruined and covered in sticky glue because he is unprofessional and his work was sloppy. A Sterling Silver and Amethyst Tennis Bracelet that needed a hinge replacement was done so poorly, the hinge won't even move. Its different from all the other hinges because he didn't bother to measure it to the other hinges. If he did not have the ability to do the repair, then its best to turn down the job. I trusted him when he said he could do these repairs and he actually seemed to think they were fine. When I came to pick up my jewelry, I couldn't believe what he had done.... he immediately said he didn't want to charge me for the American Indian Bracelet and the Mother of Pearl Pendant. He said this because he knew he ruined my jewelry. I was so upset I just wanted to get out of there....and I told him just to give me the bill and I'd pay it....I just wanted to leave. I might add that there was another person working in the shop and I felt he was in total sympathy with my situation. In any case, I felt I should post this review. read more

Great service! I went to have 2 watch batteries replaced, and Ted completed the task quickly. He even gave me advice on how to prolong the battery life so I could save money! His shop is near my work, so I didn't have to worry about parking, but there's a public lot right there and many metered stalls along the street. I was looking for a place to fix my fossil watch band nearby so I googled and found Ted's Jewelry and read a lot of good reviews but only one bad experience so I thought I'd give it a try. The minute I walked in sure enough there was Ted greeting us with a big smile. I showed him my watch and the band that needed repair. Within a few seconds he told me it will be $7.99 to fix. Another watch repair shop quoted me $12 just for the pin and the labor is another added cost. Before fixing I picked his brain a little bit about the band itself and he was able to see that the type of band I was using wasn't really the right fitting band for the type of watch I had. At first I thought he was trying to convince me to buy one of his bands in his show case but he actually showed me and pin pointed where the slight loose edges were and that the pins will hold for a time being but will end up breaking again. He did show me one of his bands in his show case, and it was a bit pricey but he said "you go shop around for the good band and bring it back, I will change it for free..." and he gave me the measurements to look for when shopping for the appropriate size and style of band for my watch. So I told him to just change the pin for me for now and I'll be back with the band. Within a minute he was done and said "eh, just pay $7". Originally he said $7.99... so I pulled out $8 and just gave it to him. We then asked him if he does hawaiian heirloom jewelry cuz we wanted to either add gold to our daughters bracelet or just buy a new adult sized one. Low and behold hawaiian heirloom is his specialty. So he gave us info on options, showed us his show case of hawaiian heirloom work he does and options we can do whether we wanna spend a lot on a brand new one or just add gold to the existing one. We were so pleased with the service, options and offers and for the watch repair. I have to be honest, this first visit maybe to early to be really really rating a five star but just from this visit we will be definitely coming back to enquire what else he can do for us. My advice to consumers out there is to take the time to talk with Ted and to let him go over with actually what type of work that needs to be done on your repairs.
