Wonderful space. Lots of gorgeous views no matter where you sit. This place also does sushi classes which I think is amazing. The service was quick and polite, their uniforms are pretty cute too. The food was bomb af. The Poke Bowl was just right I could taste how fresh the fish was and my edamame was everything I expected it to be. We have been going to Teikoku since they opened and they only get better as the years go by. Everything on their menu is fabulous but their Green Curry fried rice, short ribs, Godzilla roll, and the rock shrimp are things we get every single time! Their drinks, beer and wine selections are all wonderful as well, never had anything we didn't like. We've celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, holidays and promotions here along with happy hour and just the casual dinner. Teikoku is a purveyor of "Asian contemporary cuisine" - their menu has a lot of Japanese and Thai items. Friends and I gathered at this fairly large restaurant for a farewell party. We didn't share most of our dishes, and the entrees themselves were hit-or-miss, being really good or really average. While entrees were iffy, their in-house drinks were consistently delicious. (Sushi was good but not worth the drive.) My dish, the green curry with vegetable fried rice ($13), was exactly that: a cognac-flavored green curry with wok stir-fried rice and vegetables. There was NOTHING ELSE in the curry, and it hardly tasted like cognac. Imagine a thick but weak pea soup - that's what I got. To be fair, they didn't lie (and the rice was good), but I expected more than a banal soup and rice, especially for the price. Not cool. The GPS we used didn't find this place accurately so keep that in mind, and check a directions web site first. Worth a try if you're in the neighborhood. Reservations recommended. read more

Have eaten here many many times and have to say it is easily the best restaurant in the edgemont/Newtown Sq area. Very good variety of fresh sushi, prepared properly. Great lunch specials. Not cheap, but big portions, and the value is there. Chicken basil fried rice is a hit with everyone, Penang beef is very good, salmon with basil chili sauce is tasty and well seared. Not a bad item on the menu. Lunch bento boxes are a massive amount of food for lunch and very good too. I tend towards the salmon teriyaki lunch set, which comes with veggie tempura with a fusion but delicious Parmesan basil sauce, a California roll, a small Japanese salad, miso soup, and will challenge you to finish everything. Dinner is great too. Salmon tartare wIth blueberry and crepe fraishe is delicious as an appetizer. Love the arugula salad with dates and fried goat cheese. All kinds of goodies here. It was raining so we sat indoors but the outdoor dining space looks very nice and has a lot of umbrellas up. I'd definitely recommend for those looking for outdoor dining options right now. The inside was not very crowded but that's not surprising given the current virus and that it was a Monday night. The service was a bit slow even though there were hardly any tables but it wasn't a huge deal. My friend and I started out with the Teikoku Rock Shrimp app. It was delicious and I loved the creamy wasabi sauce that the shrimp was coated in. I'm not a sushi fan so I opted for the sesame chicken entree. It wasn't bad, but I wish the chicken had more flavor. It was a bit bland. I liked that there was a big portion of chicken and vegetables however. My friend ordered the Teikoku Sushi Roll and really enjoyed it. This is the first time I have ever written a review for a restaurant. But after my experience last night I felt it deserved one. My fiancé and I have frequented this place many times. Our first date was here, after we got engaged we came here to celebrate, and we have been here many times since then. We have never had a bad meal or be experience here and last night we celebrated being 6 months away from our wedding date. We went in for happy hour and noticed the bar was full. But there are a few lounge chairs near the bar that we could sit at, and we did. A women with a laptop was sitting in one of the chairs when we sat down. From time-to-time employees of the restaurant would come up and talk to her. All the conversations seemed very friendly and familiar, almost as if she was a friend of them all. I couldn't help but ask her if she worked at the restaurant. It turns out she is a part owner. I didn't expect this at all, but I was excited to meet her. The three of us (her, my fiancé and myself) had a great conversation over sushi. We talked about all sorts of things from owning multiple restaurants and growing the business, and the challenges the pandemic has brought to the industry; to getting married (she is a newlywed), and future dreams and goals we all have. As I mentioned before I have always been a fan of the food, service, and experience here. But after last night and getting to know a part owner, seeing the passion she has for not only her business, but also her employees and customers, I am even more impressed. I am a big believer in the saying "The organization takes on the personality of the leadership". After last night it really confirmed to my fiancé and I what we already knew, that Teikoku is a great restaurant we are both raving fans of it. Very good sushi and Japanese's food for both seafood and meat lovers paired with a nice drink selection in a Japanese tea house setting. Their Sunday brunch is self-serve and buffet style and always has an amazing selection of food, including sushi, pad Thai, chicken wings, fried rice, French toast, soup, truffle fries, spring rolls, crepes which are made in front of you, and more. They serve a complimentary glass of mimosa for Sunday brunch as well. Their sushi is always, always fresh, which is one of the reasons why I love it here! Great place for a birthday dinner. The menu has a little bit of everything from Thai to Japanese and Chinese in case you have a picky group. Plenty of gluten free options. Crab fried rice was delicious. Also the short rib was another stand out. The tempura fondue was a fun twist. Duck was also a great appetizer. Went here for my boyfriends birthday and it was great. It was a Monday evening but the restaurant parking lot was pretty full and the bar was lively. We sat inside, which was good because it was pretty hot out. Our waiter was great and super professional. We ordered the kobe beef hot plate and the peking duck as our starters. The kobe beef hot plate was a super cool dish where you cook the meat on a hot stone at your table! It tasted great. I got a cocktail, it was a peach whiskey drink that was wayyyyy too strong. I could barely drink it but my boyfriend suggested mixing it with a soda. It was better when I cut it in half with a ginger ale. I ordered the filet mignon and lobster tail toban yaki for my main plate. Omg yum! My boyfriend got the shrimp teriyaki, but he was kind of disappointed by the sauce. At the end my boyfriend ordered the creme brûlée, and when the dessert came they brought us out a birthday dessert too! Such great service and we both were not expecting the extra sweets. The dessert they gave us was a mochi (which my bf wanted to try), a slice of matcha green tea cake, and a scoop of coffee gelato. The happy hour is 5 stars, but the dinner menu is a 4 (due to prices.) a happy hour is very easily one of the best around - cheap sushi rolls, great appetizers, and amazing cocktail and drink special for $4-6. The chay roll is awesome with spicy tuna on the inside and sliced avocado outside. The spicy yellowtail is also awesome with big pieces of fish and light mayo. The spring rolls are quite tasty with a nice pineapple seals on the side. I know a lot of people get the Teikoku roll and King roll. Poor Service! Came in on a Friday evening around 7 without a reservation. There was a 45-min wait. No problem. We put our names on the list and sat at the bar...for approx 90 mins! I had to go back to the hostesses twice. The first time they couldn't find our name and said a few more mins. I went back to the bar and waited. Then I went back to the hostesses again since we we're tired of waiting. They were clearing a table for us and would be a few more mins. They came to get us. No apologies. Mostly everyone else got seated before us. Service from there on wasn't bad, but average. Problem was, everything up to that point had taken so long that any wait was unacceptable. Took a table of 2 almost 2.5 hours for a $125 meal. Food was really good, but service was horrible. We had made reservations a week in advance to come on Saturday for a party of five. When we arrived, our table was ready and we got seated immediately. The interior of the place is beautiful! With big fans near the entrance ceiling and bamboo all over the ceiling. We got a Sashimi platter, soft shell crabs, and kobe beef hot rock for appetizers. All were amazing! Sashimi was super fresh and soft shell crabs were flavored well. Each of us ordered an entree as well and everyone's meals were delicious/presented well too!
