Chris is great - super responsive, proactive, friendly and quick. what more could I ask!

This is an update to my review of Tekman Security almost exactly 9 years ago. Chris is always been our go-to guy for hanging TV's, and maintaining the camera system he installed when we renovated the home back in 2015. Some of those cameras had reached the end of their useful lifespans and needed to be replaced. One had a damage power cable which Chris was easily able to remedy. As usual, they arrived absolutely on time, as promised. The quote I got back in June didn't change as the result of having to special order cameras for my particular installation. Chris remains truly the best in the business and is now keeping his son employed in the Summer learning quite a bit about the business as he goes. You really can't go wrong here. Chris is thorough, professional and does clean work! Back in 2018 he did an amazing job on installing the in-ceiling speakers in our previous home, so when we moved to a new house with a dedicated room for a home theater and I needed more in-ceiling atmos speakers installed, he was the one I knew we had to call. I was also struggling with the defective network drops that the home builder put in for us and asked Chris if he could give them a look. He and his team meticulously toned, tested, labeled and re-punched all the problematic keystones and patch panels in the house. I cannot recommend Chris and Tekman Security enough! read more

Unethical business practices...do not provide them with your credit card information. Our credit card was compromised so had to be replaced. Our service was stopped. We thought it was because they needed the new card info. When we called they said it was because our equipment is not 5g and the services no longer support our "obsolete" equipment. We gave the new credit card info and ordered the new equipment and would not charge us for monitoring (since that cannot happen with the old equipment). That was April of 2021. It's now January of 2022. Still no new equipment and no communication. Oh, except for the bill for monitoring since June, which they charged my card for, plus the first 3 months of 2022. read more

Chris was very responsive to our initial call, coming out for an estimate, and follow-up questions. Great communication. The work was done as expected in the timeframe he estimated. We're very happy with our outdoor cameras and the app we use to monitor them. Chris was very helpful in explaining things to us once everything was installed. Highly recommend. read more

I've relied on Chris from TekMan Security since 2014. He initially replaced an Aiphone gate camera/intercom unit and an associated dome camera. Chris subsequently installed an 8 camera surveillance system. Today, we had him upgrade our entryway camera to an 8MP IP Turret Camera with built-in dual mics. Chris has always been friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. This is the reason I will always call upon him to take care of any servicing and future upgrades to my surveillance system. read more

The installation of a home security camera system went fine. But the systems they setup are not easy to use -- you need to have advanced knowledge of computer networks to keep the system working. The third-party app they leave you with is clumsy, complicated and designed for computer programmers, not everyday homeowners. If you ever have to restore or replace your home Wifi network, your camera security system -- installed by Tekman -- becomes useless. No access. And then Tekman will ruthlessly bill you $150 for a service call to do 4 minutes of work setting up your "port forwarding" (which, it turns out, can be done by a trained chimpanzee once you watch a couple of YouTube videos). No warning. No explanation that maybe I could figure it out myself. Just "give me my money." I wish I had a higher recommendation, but this is not a consumer-friendly product. It requires more computer knowledge to maintain than most of us "end users" posses. And when you need follow-up help from Tekman (because you've had to restore your Wifi network after 3 years), it'll cost you $150 for 4 minutes of work. No exceptions, no accommodations to keep the customer happy and off of Yelp writing nasty reviews. I appreciate that small businesses have to do business to survive and that the cost of a service call is not free in terms of time or expertise. But this business didn't seem willing to even bend to make the customer feel satisfied and the experience has left me unwilling to recommend them to anyone else. read more

I can not say anything about the person who posted that Chris does not pay his people, but as far as customer service Chris is a 10+. I lost the key to our intercom system and called Chris for help. He offered me a key if I wanted to pick it up. So I did, but unfortunately it did not work. When I emailed Chris the news he sent me back a link where I could purchase the key so he would not have to charge me. I went on the link, ordered the key and it worked perfect. Chris was very professional and so easy to deal with on all levels. I would HIGHLY recommend him. read more

I initially hired Chris and TekMan Security in 2015 to install a set of security cameras around my house. I was downright impressed by how quickly Chris and his team installed the cameras without any issue, extra charges or problems. Then, in 2018, I needed some help with the install of an audio / visual system and a new Wifi setup. Once again, we hired TekMan. And, once again, Chris did not let us down. While this was a much more difficult install that required extensive wiring, Chris completed the project on-time and at the agreed-upon budget. As with any new system, there were a few kinks that needed to be worked out. However, Chris was a quick responder that resolved all issues with 24 hours. I am very thankful to Chris and the entire TekMan team (Alex, Shaq, etc.) for their help! Tekman is great! They have helped me with the security system at my business, set up a system at my house, helped with my wifi, and sets up phone systems for my business. They're prices are way too low. I first thought they would be horrible. I figured "you pay what you get", but they fooled me. The service and expertise was amazing. Chris just completed the pre-wire phase of my remodel for audio, telephone, video, and data. We have CAT 6, HDMI, coax, and telephone going from a patch panel out to each location. He is extremely knowledgeable and very fast. He also is communicative which is a quality highly desired when you're working with contractors. The way a proper business is run! Early Sunday morning, found TekMan on Yelp. I expected to only leave a message, but Chris picked up on the second ring. I had a lot of questions and concerns. Chris is a good listener and he walked me through the different tech and budget options. We set up a day and time and his technician, Lim, arrived to our store on the dot. He began setting things up, troubleshooting at a level way above my mental tech capacity, had me press a few buttons and boom! -everything was ready and working beautifully! Lim gave me a few extra pointers and recommendations to consider for when we are ready to expand, then receipt, payment, handshake, and a huge thank you! I am very happy! read more

Chris from Tekman went above and beyond! He returned our call promptly, came out the next day and a week later all our cameras were installed with out a glitch! We called several different places and they took forever to return our call. His job was very clean and efficient. Don't call anyone else....Chris is the one to help you. He has a high level of knowledge and will help you solve your issue with the most cost effective strategy. He takes the time to make sure you understand what he's doing and why. Extremely reasonable charges and easy to work with. It was hard to write this review but it needed to be done. Chris and his team did a wonderful job installing a camera system in my house about 2 years ago and it has worked perfect as promised. The problem is the lack of returning calls. There have been a couple times that I have called Chris to have some additional work done and there is no return call. So it is with a heavy heart that I give this 2 star review. Just as with other contractors they are a dime a dozen and good luck with any of them. I used Chris at TekMan about a year or two ago to help me download some activity on my camera for the police (My original installer was too busy every time I called). He ANSWERED his calls right away, SCHEDULED my job quickly, and CUSTOMER SERVICE was top of the line - pleasant, efficient, and didn't waste time trying to figure out how to do his job at my expense. He was very professional and I didn't have to remind him to give me an INVOICE (very important for me). The only downside FOR ME was that his prices were a little high (you get what you pay for), but I do NOT deduct a star for that because I, as a business owner myself, understand that in order to give QUALITY service and products, AND pay yourself fairly, you have to "do what you gotta do." I was VERY pleased and would highly recommend this company. I only blame myself when I get taken by someone trying to give the lowest prices (I never seem to learn). Yet, I was in business for over 40 years and because I was a small business, I ALWAYS was able to give low prices AND QUALITY work. It paid off FOR ME because I didn't have to waste money on advertising when the referrals kept pouring in. Back then, we didn't have the internet, so word-of-mouth was important. Even now 5 years into retirement, I am STILL getting calls from previous clients trying to find honest people to deal with. I'm confident you can trust Chris. He didn't try to win my business by trying to low-ball the price and cut his quality. I RESPECT THAT. AND he wasn't unfairly high; I think it was a fair price, but I just can't seem to stop myself from looking for the BEST price because I always have so much I need to do with the money I have and I was trying to upgrade two properties. (You will notice that I don't have a lot of reviews because I ONLY do 5-STAR and 1-STAR because I don't want to discredit someone that I wasn't thrilled with or on the fence about, so my main purpose is to let my fellow yelpers know who I feel REALLY sure about AND also warn them about the ones who are UNDOUBTEDLY NOT the kind of business that has ethics. I needed to upgrade my old security cameras to HD to keep up with latest technology. Chris and Lee came out and gave me an estimate. I immediately liked these guys with their down to earth personality and they seemed to know what they were talking about. Price was reasonable as well so I hired them and couldn't be happier with the result. New HD cameras look stunning. Just beautiful. Compared to my old analog system, difference in picture quality was night and day. They took their time to walk me through the set up and how to view from my Android. After doing due diligence, we chose Tek Man Security to provide a first class 24 hour a day monitoring system. Chris and his great crew installed a wonderful state-of-the-art security system complete with 6 cameras, a high-res monitor, a 4 gig DVR and proper connection to the Internet. The cameras were placed perfectly, wires strung in the crawl space and attic with the home-run to the main computer terminal. The crew was hard working, polite and fun and only left after carefully cleaning up. The camera images are perfect and the playback is no more difficult than calling up a show on your home theatre system. Each component is first class. This is the second time I have used TekMan Security. First they put in a ring doorbell, with great patience with my old house wiring. This time they installed a security system with cameras and lights. Chris Morgan could not have been more professional -his detailed proposal, his prompt responses, his advice, etc. He showed up on time and completed the project with efficiency. This company is not good to deal with. They came to my apartment building to install security cameras. While they were there, they made so much banging and drilling out the outside of the building that they actually knocked a picture frame off my wall and broke it. It was a very personal piece of artwork. When I got home from work I could have easy cut myself badly on the broken glass or worse, it could have fell on one of my animals. 2.5 months after they were originally contacted about the damage, the owner, Chris Morgan was so rude and a bully to me. He has zero customer service skills and told me to "do the leg work" and fix my broken item myself. I find this kind of behavior for a company disgusting. So watch out when you deal with them, and especially Chris Morgan. This was the following issues I had, when it came to dealing with him (as the owner of the business): -Damaged my personal property -Ignored me -Lied about trying to get in touch with me -Left a mess outside of the entire building...and him nor his workmen came back to clean up -Asked me to do LEG WORK for your wrong doing - Abrasive and rude tone when dealing with Chris Be warned...he is terrible with customers, and are sloppy sloppy workers. read more

I recently hired Chris to install a security camera system in our condo building. Chris was professional, reliable and worked in a timely manner. Chris was on time and communicated well and I highly recommend him. I had previously hired another company, recommended by our management company, that didn't show up, didn't communicate and put the few cameras that were actually up in the wrong places on the building.
