So was excited to try this place but we left a little disappointed. It's a beautiful location and our server was great. We started with the ceviche which was fresh and delicious! Flavor was great with the little crackers. However, after that, it was just ok. We ordered the paella negra and it looked pretty but it was sooo salty!! They were attentive though and we said something. It's apparently the norm in their stock base. They offered to remake it for us which then took awhile! We needed more water but I had to flag down them down every time. They clearly could see it on our table but didn't refill. The restrooms also didn't have seat covers in either one. I purposely got up and told 3 people at the front desk since it was early in the day. Did they do anything, nope! I went mid meal and after and it was never replaced. Not sure if they were out or what. We finally got the remake and it was much better! However, then the shrimp did not look fresh. They also remade some for us which was much appreciated. Overall, we didn't feel the need to go back! They did take it off for us which was a nice gesture. The churros for dessert was delicious though and not too overly sweet! Came here tonight and overall had a good time. We ordered the ceviche, wagyu empanadas, and paella. The food was good, and the restaurant itself is new with a nice intimate atmosphere. It's calm, cozy, and they have a pretty wide selection of food. The main issue we had was the service. Our waitress rarely came by to check on us, and our plates weren't cleared after we finished each dish. We constantly had to try to get someone's attention whenever we needed something. We also noticed a few other couples leave or pass on dessert, which made it seem like we weren't the only table having issues with the service. Since the restaurant is new, they may still be working out some of the kinks. The food and atmosphere were both good, so I'd be willing to come back and give it another try once they've had some time to get the service dialed in. read more

We had to try this new restaurant with all the hoopla on Instagram. A little hard to find, tucked into the side of Macy's, very accommodating as we walked in and offered a taste of their sangrias. We had a long table against the wall, and we had lot of various dishes from the ham croquettas, tuna tacos, bruselas, chicken kebab, paella mixta, wines, sangrias, lychee & cream, Rebujito Soritz and Ketal One vodka. Lauren R, our server was terrific, how she brought all the food to the table and remembered who ordered what, in a group of 12 people was amazing! Maybe I'm a little jaded by eating out at so many high end, terrific restaurants in LA and OC, but I was not that impressed with my ham croquetas, and I tasted the paella, and again nothing special the rice was bitter. I know they just opened up 2 weeks ago, and I'm sure everything will be perfected in time, but it's a lovely atmosphere, nice staff and I know each chef uses his own seasonings, so I'm sure it will be improved upon as time goes on. read more

What a surprise! Teleferic opened its new location at NB! It is just 10 mins from home! This place will be our daily lunch restaurant! Food was perfect. I can finish a large plate of Paella Negra by my own. Our waitress Scout was very attentive and friendly! The only drawdown was the reception. The two girls at lunch time at the reception were both not very welcoming. They never smiled and just gave a cold face to guests. Bc the table is super small and space is tight. It will be great if they can pick up right away without asking. Our server didn't come to check us out once. Lobster seafood paella is a must-have here at this hot and new Spanish restaurant inside Fashion Island Center. The meatballs and croquettes were also yummy tapas. My only complaint was that we were seated outside for our one-year wedding anniversary, even though we made the reservation a week in advance and noted that we were celebrating. New spot in Fashion Island for great cocktails, paella and Spanish tapas! I enjoyed the Teleferic sangria, a traditional red sangria, while my coworkers tried the Fancy a Carrot cocktail (basically boozy carrot juice) and the La Flaca, a mezcal-focused drink that is presented with a bubble that puffs into smoke when popped. Next time, I would like to try the sweeter white sangria which has prickly pear in it or order a bottle of nice Rioja from their selection of Spanish wines. For food, my two coworkers and I shared three tapas and the Paella Mixta, all of which were recommended by our waitress. The patatas bravas were underwhelming, but looked cute in a pretty painted dish. The crab coquettes came as a dish of 3 croquettes and were solid, but my favorite by far were the brussel sprouts, which were seasoned well and topped with a yummy light cheese. The brussel sprout dish was very large, not really a tapa, so it's a good dish to order with a group. The menu has six different paellas to choose from. We ordered the Paella Mixta, which is a mix of shrimp, chicken, pork belly and piquillo peppers. It was a fun Spanish experience to have the paella in the center of our table with a few tapas and good drinks! We enjoyed our meal on the outdoor patio, but next time I'd like to dine inside the pretty restaurant. The chocolate filled churros were a hit with all of us and a great way to end our meal. Since I visited on the first day of the soft opening there were a few kinks including the underwhelming patatas bravas and the overbearing service that made us feel a bit rushed. Multiple people came by every few minutes! The manager Carlos welcomed our feedback and I think they will have those small things sorted out by the time of their grand opening! After traveling around Spain this summer, I've been dying for this place to open to satisfy my Spanish tapas craving. Not the most common or easy to find type of food in OC, so having Teleferic open is great! Tried a few things on the menu for a quick lunch: -Jamon Iberico - Closest in I've had in SoCal to what you get in Spain, yum. -Gambas al Ajillo - Always one of my fav Spanish tapas. The way it's done here isn't quite traditional but was delicious none the less. Served Head on, the shrimp was fresh and succulent -El Ceviche - Fish, scallops, octopus, shrimp. Fresh and citrusy...really good. -Pan Con Tomate - Also a must get at any Spanish tapas place, it did not disappoint here...goes great with the Jamon. Will have to come back to to try more and try their Paella. All in all, was pretty good and happy to have this as another dining spot in Fashion Island! read more

They provide you with a small welcome juice or sangria. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, was a bit loud since it was poppin. Menu has Spanish dishes, like jamon, paella, and croquette. We got the mixed paella, jamon, and tomato bread, we also got a couple of red wines. Paella (8.5/10)-rice was perfectly cooked super flavorful, shrimp was plump but could have been more flavored the pork and chicken were also tender good to share between 2-3 people. As a Spaniard (my father is Gallego, from La Coruña), I don't have very high expectations for authentic Spanish food in the United States. It's rare and very hard to find the cuisine executed well. To have Spanish chefs and staff members, (to give it the true authentic experience), even rarer. I appreciated that the manager on duty Santiago, is a Spaniard himself. He was passionate about making sure everything was running accordingly, and we enjoyed chatting with him. Teleferic had been open less then a week. We went on a whim with no reservations, and sat at the bar. The bartenders were very upbeat, positive and extremely attentive, which I appreciated. The experience at the bar was great. We ordered a bunch of tapas, which came out very quickly. The papas bravas were excellent. I've been vegan 30 years, so I naturally ordered the veggie paella, which did not disappoint. The flavor and texture of the rice was delicious. I liked the aesthetic of the itself, along with the selected veggies. All the flavors paired together beautifully. I was very impressed with the Sangria & drink I ordered. There's many items that I cannot eat, but the veg items that I had, I did enjoy. The food on a whole is good. I would say Teleferic is a nice spot to go for drinks & tapas, or a more relaxed dinner. It's not as upscale as other restaurants in fashion Island, & it feels more casual. What I found disappointing was the finishes used, and the materials for the build out itself are not as high-quality as I would've expected for a restaurant at FI in Newport Beach. It feels minimal spend, maximum profit. Furniture is just ok. As a woman, I do not like gender neutral bathrooms, or a shared hand washing space...big turn off for me. There's nothing more unappealing than seeing a man come out of a stall, then you go in to find a mess. This should have been much better thought out. You aren't necessarily transported to Spain, but it's nice to have something in the realm in Newport Beach. I can see myself going back for drinks and tapas with friends. Very cool hotspot in fashion Island with a good twist of Barcelona Spanish food with absolute authenticity. We had a great server. Her name is Lauren M, local Laguna gal. She did a great job for us and at times were a little demanding so thank you Lauren M. We had three appetizer top us. They were all wonderful, super rich and flavor... And we had the Welllington short rib that was fantastic and definitely will be back for more of that. For such a new restaurant it was surprisingly good. The pros for me were the tapas and the cocktails and wine selection. The cons were that it feels awkward to wait to be seated ( no great place to wait if the bar is full) and the restrooms were limited so it was a bit of a wait. The tapas we tried were excellent! The potato bravas were smokey flavored with just the right amount of spice. The ceviche felt very fresh and the chips with it were amazing (ask for extra). The octopus sat on top of a delicious potato cream sauce which nearly overshadowed the mollusk. Lastly the sauce on the gambas al ajillo was so flavorful I could have bottled it to take home. Everything was flavorful and well presented and prepared. I am sad to say the paella negra was just ok, it didn't have the crisp rice bottom layer that I expected. Don't get me wrong, it was fine but our hopes were so high after the tapas and we weren't blown away. That said it was presented beautifully. A cool glass of Godello paired nicely with the food. Definitely try some Spanish wine when you are there. read more

My friend and I came here to celebrate my birthday, and the host wished me a happy birthday as soon as we checked in, which was such a nice way to start the experience. Once we went inside, we noticed quite a few empty tables, so we asked if we could move indoors. It took almost another 20 minutes for someone to arrange it for us. The concept at Teleferic Barcelona is awesome, but the execution was a huge letdown. We had to send the ceviche back, and the rest of the food just didn't deliver. Every dish felt like it was missing something, and nothing really came together. The servers were sweet and friendly, which I appreciated, but no one was keeping our table cleared or cleaned throughout the meal. That lack of attention, combined with the disappointing food, really took away from the experience. I wanted to like this place, but overall, it was a disappointment. Unfortunately, from the food to the service, this place needs some help. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with an upscale, modern atmosphere, but the experience didn't match the setting. As a party of one, it took about seven minutes to even be acknowledged. I wasn't greeted by my server, but with an "hola" from a young woman with an Australian accent, which felt more forced than authentic. The meatballs arrived lukewarm to cold, the crab croquettes were okay, and the pan con tomate was underwhelming even with the Black Label Ibérico ham. They really need proper pan de cristal. The octopus was good and easily the highlight. The paella was the biggest disappointment. No socarrat whatsoever, just soft, mushy rice. I also ordered everything at once, yet dishes came out one at a time, turning lunch into nearly a 1.5 hour meal. Having dined at several José Andrés restaurants, the execution here simply doesn't come close. Great looking space, but both the food and service need more consistency. read more

Solid food, solid service, make sure you check your bill. Food - had great recommendations from our waitress. Highlights are the octopus (small portions), short rib Wellington (nicely done - meet was not fatty, the puff pastry was well baked, and overall nice presentation) and the churros (Nutella filled, with a small well of toffee Carmel at the bottom). Crab croquets are delicious but very creamy (lactose friends watch out!), and the potatoes and cauliflower were standard. Services- my pet peeve is when servers take away plates when you're still trying to eat. Kudos for attentive service but if someone is still eating and there is food in a shared plate, it feels like we were being rushed. However, they were super attentive and our waitress was very nice. Bill - who charges $3 for no vermouth?!? No this isn't a spelling or grammar error. To order a martini with no vermouth they charge you extra. Check your bill for add-ons (or more irritating removals). Ordered a dirty martini. Was charged $15 for the martini, $3 for dirty and $3. For "no vermouth". Yeah seriously, never seen this one before. Would not have been as irritating if they just took it off, but don't make me feel like you did me a solid favor by taking it off at the end. We had a really nice time, pretty good food, but this ridiculous $3 charge was more about the principle. I could care less if you just charged me $18.. I've even paid $21 for a fantastic martini. But please check your POS system. I hope this is just an error in the program. A different server made me feel like a jerk because I brought attention to it. read more

Was excited to try this place as the one in Los Gatos is great, but I quickly got over my excitement. For starters I got the (dry) chicken, (very dry) pan con tomate, and octopus, which was properly cooked thankfully, and some patatas bravas that managed to take 30 minutes to get to the table even though the place was half empty? Then we got the mixed paella which to be generous, I will call fine. 2 of the 3 shrimp weren't cleaned, the rice was ok, and the portion was appropriate for happy hour food. Now for the fun part. Got here before 5, asked to sit outside. Apparently the side I asked to sit in was not part of happy hour so I got moved to a different outside section, fair enough. In this new section, which was 70% empty, I asked to sit at a table by the outside glass wall, I was told no, so I got put next to a cement pillar. Then they put a couple with a giant dog right next to a table of elderly people eating. Clearly they didn't enjoy having a 100lb dog stare at them while they were finishing dinner, because they got their bill and left as fast as they could. And the kicker? That table that I got denied from sitting at sat empty the entire time we were there. Maybe I'll be back and give this another try, but not likely. Another disappointment in the OC. Why is it so hard to find quality food? We were excited to try another new place and this one sounded promising. They really did a great job with the old Hopdaddy space. Great decor and vibe and the service was wonderful. Tapas is really about small plates so it was a little surprising to see this menu was more traditional with appetizers, salad and mains, but who cares if the food is good right? To get started two of us ordered Sangria to sample. The spicy one was meh and the fruity one was too sweet (nice touch to give us samples so kudos for that). The standard one was just ok, nothing special for $14 a glass. To start, we ordered the Potatoes Bravas, the tuna tacos and the buratta salad. Potatoes were greasy with a huge dollop of some kind of aioli/mayo. They would have been semi edible except for the fact that the were soooo salty. At least our waitress was gracious enough to take them off the bill. The tuna tacos were a plain as you can get. Little chunks of raw tuna, unseasoned with anything stuffed in a wonton shell with a tiny smattering of some kind of avocado concoction. Super plain with no flavor. At least it was edible....yay. The Burrata salad sounded so yummy on the menu. I imagined a nice ball of burrata with tomatoes, seasonal fruit, crispy kale and some radishes. If you have ever had burrata, you , know it a creamy ball of mozzarella that when sliced open exudes a beautiful thick cream. Sadly what arrived at our table was a shallow bowl of cold cheese "soup"-no ball, no cheese, just white liquid with floating bits of stuff in it. Besides the ick factor of what it reminded me of (think of it coming back up, not going down) it tasted like nothing. For our "mains", one person ordered the salmon tartare as a meal, we ordered a veggie paella and an order of the piri piri chicken skewers to share. I think I nearly lost my appetite when the salmon tartare arrived. It looked like the leftover scraps that a fishmonger might leave behind after preparing someone's nice filet. There was dark brown bits from the bloodline and even a few tiny bits of skin. It looked like sometihing you might serve your cat. The paella was cooked ok, but just tasted of nothing...could have used the salt from the potatoes for sure. And the chicken skewers, give these a hard pass. How do you screw up chicken skewers you ask....well, don't clean up the chicken thighs and just shove them on a stick and the partially cook them. Absolutely awful. Thankfully we were in good company and could make light of the pathetic state of the food, but we will never come back to this sad mess. I don't think it 's that hard to serve good food, you just have to care about what you are giving your customers. If you try to cut corners, people notice and that's why you have a solid 3.8 on yelp instead of a mid to high 4. The food here sucks.....what a shame.... read more

This was our first time dining here tonight as a family, and unfortunately, I left extremely disappointed with the service. Our waitress was incredibly unprofessional. Her behavior felt more appropriate for a club than a family restaurant, including openly flirting with my husband throughout our meal, which made the experience uncomfortable. More importantly, I was extremely concerned by how our children's food allergies were handled. We asked several times whether certain menu items contained ingredients my child is allergic to, and our server seemed completely unfamiliar with the menu. What bothered me most was that she didn't make an effort to check with the chef or kitchen staff to get us a reliable answer. When it comes to food allergies, guessing or simply not knowing is not acceptable--it can be a serious safety issue. The disappointing part is that the restaurant itself has so much potential. The food was actually very good, and we loved the ambiance and drinks. We live right down the street and were genuinely excited to finally try it, so I really wanted this to become a place we could come back to regularly. Unfortunately, based on tonight's service, I wouldn't return. The servers need better training in professionalism, customer service, menu knowledge, and especially how to properly handle guests with food allergies. Had a nice dinner here with my wife. The service was good and the ambiance was nice, even though it was pretty crowded. The food itself left a little to be desired. The flavors were a bit bland overall, and the cauliflower arrived undercooked, but our server was very nice about it and took it off the bill. The patatas bravas were good, though. I was really excited to try Telefèric Barcelona! The cocktails looked so fun and creative, although we didn't try any this time. The Wagyu Empanadas and Crab Croquetas were both very good. The portions are definitely on the smaller side, but I would absolutely come back for those with a cocktail. We also really enjoyed the Patatas Bravas. We ordered them without the brava sauce (tomato sauce), and I thought they were great. One thing that surprised us was how quickly the tapas came out ; within minutes of ordering. Unfortunately, the Paella Mixta was the biggest disappointment. We added the lobster tail and were really excited about it, but the entire dish was extremely fishy and salty. The pork and chicken in it were okay, but overall the paella was a bummer, especially since that was the dish we were most looking forward to. I can't say I'm dying to go back for a full dinner, but I would maybe return for cocktails and a few tapas. It's also a tough decision when you have places like RH, R+D Kitchen, and CUCINA enoteca nearby to compete with. (I personally would rather have those drinks and apps.) Overall, some really good bites and an okay atmosphere (for me personally) , but the paella missed the mark for us. read more
