Was swinging through Sacramento to fuel up on caffeine on the way to San Francisco. And had to stop by temple because I heard they have a good pour over. When we arrived they had a long line almost out the door. (That's a good thing) long line but steadily moving. I got a pour over of their Costa Rica blend coffee so naturally that did take longer than my buddies matcha to come out. I'm no coffee snob. But I wouldn't recommended trying a pour over here. Why use the pour over method? Pour over accentuates intricate flavors when compared to other brewing methods. Good filter coffee is clean, clear, and consistent. Try it. You won't regret it. Temple is a nice local coffee roaster. On our way back to the Bay Area, we came by this location to get some beans and drinks. Parking was very easy in the plaza. The store itself is spacious and modern looking with lots of people hanging out. I ended up with an Enlightenment tea drink: jasmine tea, honey, and soy. It was well balanced, and the tea was nice and strong. It's just a little bit off the freeway, and it's worth venturing past the other standard coffee chains. read more

I ordered a Mexican Mocha and a bag of beans. The Mexi Mocha was okay - it wasn't anything that really knocked my socks off. I was hoping that they would just have a regular or a dark mocha. But they only had this in the chocolate category. The drink itself lacked a good coffee flavor that I was looking for - it seemed to be overpowered by the Mexican spices. I haven't been to Temple Coffee since my college days in Davis and this place is still just as good as I remember. I wish they had a location in South Bay because I miss my mornings here! I love the enlightenment which is basically like a warm milk tea. It's so delicious and yummy! I've tried recreating it at home but haven't been able to do it like they do. I've wanted to visit Temple Coffee since they opened up in Folsom. So I was finally able to stop by, and they did not disappoint. Walk-in; the place was empty inside, but a few people were out on the patio as it was a lovely cool morning. I perused the menu and decided to go with a vanilla latte. It was made with perfection, and I have not had one in a while, so I was delighted with the drink, and accompanied on top of the drink was delightful foam art. So, I went back to Temple Folsom. I've come to realize that they hire so many wonderful people that the bad apples stood out to me in a way that disappointed me greatly. Today, the manager (a man) served me with the utmost of kindness and professionalism. Yes, the other woman was there, still turned her back to me (again!) in an extraordinarily lame effort to be rude, but the main manager's great attitude really proved outstanding in comparison. For clarity, the person with whom I spoke over the phone, before, did offer free shipping, which I received 2 days later. Perhaps the 2-day shipping was not normally free, but bad service could have pushed away this loyal customer, as well as all the potential contacts to whom I recommend Temple. read more

I really struggle with this review because we love Temple coffee and have always had attentive and kind service from the team working here. Our biggest complaint, which is especially challenging during winter, is this shop has become study hall. Every table is filled with student or workers on laptops that stay for extended periods of time. The owners/managers should spend some afternoons watching what happens. We almost never go there now because of the lack of seating options. Their pace of service is not conductive to taking coffee to go - nor is that usually what we are looking for. It has been over a year where it looks like this, and is really frustrating. Additionally, if we show up at lunch time or later the pastry case is almost always empty. They would sell more if they had more - it keeps me from the added calories, but doesn't make sense for the business. A few suggestions for the owner: set a 1 hour time limit at tables, or no laptops between certain hours, AND turn an area to a standing table (no seating), so people who want to hang for a little bit and drink their coffee have other options to stay. Look at your volumes by time and provide more food when you are busy, please.... We keep hoping the management will address these issues, as we want to give them our business. But, feeling pretty discouraged to come back. read more

Temple is hands down the best local coffee roaster in the Sacramento region. So glad they opened a location in Folsom! I was nervous they wouldn't be up to par with the flagship location, but they have some awesome baristas here. I usually go with a pour over, or their honey cinnamon latte (off menu). Updated review: this is now my second time going to this temple. There were only two people working but they seemed friendly and greeted us with smiles. We ordered brown sugar iced lattes and two pastries. It was super busy when we came in. But the two workers handled their work with grace. The worker who was mentioned in my previous review as being rude was our barista today. She seemed a lot nicer this time going in. Looking for a new coffee house since my favorite Argos closed. My husband and I stopped this morning at Temple. It seemed very sterile looking with all white and light wood. The place was packed at 9:15 with mostly 20-30 something's with laptops. The flow was unclear so we walked to what we thought was the register and then were told to go around back to the barista to order. The barista was nice and professional. We ordered two Mexican mochas and proceeded back to the register. While trying to pick out a pastry we felt rushed and like the clerk was waiting on us but if couldn't see the pastries when ordering coffee we couldn't know what we wanted. We got two different muffins. The mochas were okay. The muffins were super dense and hard to chew. Bottom line, not a comfortable environment for us. Coffee and food just okay and probably will continue searching for a new place. I am sure it is great for the work from home crowd, just not my cup of tea. Way to pretentious. read more

I came here in the evening while working overtime in the area, so I decided to treat myself to good coffee. I had no idea that Folsom had their own Temple coffee, I don't go to Folsom often. The employee who took my order was awesome and made great suggestions. I ordered the Mexican mocha with an extra espresso shot, for the overtime night ahead. All of espresso drinks come with 2 shots. The Mexican mocha is not very sweet and just right like Mexican hot chocolate mixed with espresso...delicious. I also wanted some coffee beans to go for my espresso machine at home. The employee explained the difference flavor notes of each coffee bean for espresso. It was very helpful since I had no idea where to start. After explaining what I typically like flavor wise, and what I use it for, he suggested the dharma blend. He made a great suggestion. After using this blend at home, I don't think I can ever buy coffee beans anywhere else. It's soooo good. I'll definitely be back to this location for more beans and a drink. read more
