Okay so here's my revised review !!!! My mom, son and I had breakfast here last week! I haven't been here in over 10 years. All the booths were crowded but it just so happened to be one available. We were seated, asked if we wanted coffee, water was brought out right away. Waitress took our order and our food was brought out fast. Out food was hot, delicious and fresh. It was about $45. Not including tip. My son and I shared a scrambler skillet which came with Mozzarella, Cheddar, American and Swiss cheese and four add ons. I added spinach, bacon, onions and jalapeño peppers it also came with hash browns and your choice of toast or an English muffin. My mom got the three eggs skillet with cheese, hash browns and extra toast. We also each got turkey sausage links on the side. (Four links came per order) They have the best Turkey Sausage links I have ever had! Sorry I didn't get a picture they came out a little after we got our eggs. I wanted to have an opportunity to sit down and have breakfast and I searched for breakfast near me and the this location was a 5 min walk from my hotel. The reviews were amazing and I ventured to the location. They have both outdoor and indoor dinning and yes there's a line. I was flexible so I got to eat inside. The service was amazing and the food was delicious. Just reading the menu and saw "The Scrambler Skillet" and immediately wanted it. It's basically an omelet that you build with a choice of ingredients 3 options. I had bacon, tomatoes & onions and green peppers, it comes with a 4 cheese blend toast and home fries. They serve freshly squeezed orange juice with pulp but it's delicious. The staff are very polite and courteous. It's a location that the entire family can eat or a date or just yourself. Our visit to the Tempo Cafe for brunch was an absolute treat! We both had Scrambler Skillets - one Poor Man's and one with ham, mushrooms and cheese. Each portion was easily two meals! All of the staff were friendly, but our waiter, Forti, was an absolute gem of a human being. He was kind, friendly, attentive and made us feel like part of the family the entire time. I had an excellent breakfast at Tempo Cafe this weekend. Even at 8:00 in the morning on Sunday, the place was quite busy! After eating there, I totally understand. We dined in their outdoor seating and it was a great way to enjoy the weather. Service was wonderful - efficient and friendly. We both ordered the scrambler skillets and they were so yummy. I'll dream about that melty cheese! The portions were generous enough that I took my leftovers home to eat for dinner and breakfast the next day! The omelets are huge and fluffy - I ordered the veggie omelet with egg whites. The skillets and pancakes were also hits. A Chicago institution and a classic diner. I have come here for breakfast several times. You can't go wrong with any of their selection. Large portions served in a skillet. I typically get the eggs scrambled and sausage patties which are huge. Love their English muffins too. I always get mine buttered. The hash browns aren't bad but I like mine cooked more. I used to come here super late at night when Tempo was a 24 hour restaurant and I'd either come here for pancakes, a slice of pie or their delicious skillets. I truly hope sometime in the near future they will reopen their late night kitchen especially since it was such a relaxing place to unwind after work. During this current pandemic I've revisited a handful of times and dined outside to order a burger and shake or a tuna melt with fries. I am never disappointed with the service or quality of the food and this is the perfect all American diner to enjoy comfort food or brunch. This place is right around the corner from our hotel, so we stopped by to grab a bite before leaving for the airport. It totally reminds me of a diner we have back home that we love. Upon arrival, they seated us right away. Service was fast, staff was nice and friendly, and our waitress was very attentive. Shout out to Zulema! Food was good and portions are BIG so come hungry. We had just came from StudiosFUSE where they had a Grand opening night and realized after we left that we could go for something to eat. We found street parking right in front of the restaurant; After walking through the doors we were all greeted and seated right away. I took my extra long jacket off (which made the winter feel like summer) and placed on the back of my chair. After looking through the menu I was deciding between something as light as fresh squeezed grapefruit juice or something a bit more in the (not too heavy) like stir fried veggies. When it was my turn to order, I cleared my throat, and kindly conveyed that I would like to try their veggie stir fry with a spot of tea. They had the usual green and black teas; I ordered the calm chamomile tea by Tazo (I know I know, living life on the edge a little bit). I also ordered a water with lemon on the side as tea is quite dehydrating. There were a good amount of people inside dining and food came out promptly. The veggies weren't overly cooked they had a nice crunch to it, which is just how I like (all vitamins still present). I ate a few bites of the rice but didn't finish. We came here on a Monday morning and about half the restaurant was filled with customers. They have a really extensive breakfast menu, which took me a while to skim through. I finally settled on a scramble with tomatoes, zucchini, and turkey sausage. The scramble comes in a skillet with potatoes that are just the right amount of crispy and a side of toast. The scramble was a huge portion and I only finished about half of the food. I enjoyed the cozy feel of Tempo Cafe and the solid food. Cafe Tempo serves diner food. It's a lovely spot with a nice big outdoor patio and a pleasant interior. Food prices are on par with the rest of the area (expect to spend $20 for a meal) but that being said the taste leaves a little to be desired. Diner food isn't anything extraordinary so $12 for a small BLT is a little disheartening. That being said, the surrounding area is very pricey so in comparison one could argue the price is reasonable. Service was really slow and there were hardly any people in the restaurant. We had to flag our waiter down multiple times. All in all, not sure if this place is worth a trip. It's standard diner food you could get at any diner in the city. A staple brunch spot in the Gold Coast - pretty solid stop overall. I would highly suggest joining the Yelp waitlist before heading there as it gets pretty busy on the weekend. Don't expect any bells and whistles, but good overall. It does get super busy and I would expect to wait at least 30-40 minutes for a table during peak brunch hour. I ordered the spinach/cheese omelette, the portions are massive. You'll have enough food for one meal and plus. Just a heads up - the orange juice is not traditional freshly squeezed juice that you usually expect, it is more frothy/creamy and not a true OJ so keep that in mind.
