The vegetables were carrots and something else. It was good, but I didn't know what it was. Kind of bland, but it was cooked just right. Not to soft or crunchy. The spinach salad was good, and it didn't have too much cheese on it. The salad dressing came on it and it was the perfect amount. The vegan brownie was pretty dry. I couldn't taste anything in it, and I won't get another one. Brownies need sugar and butter. The steak was good, but it was pretty rare. I should have told them how I wanted it prepared. It wasn't bad, but there was more blood than I'm used to. My drink apparently didn't have sugar, and it hit the spot. Be ready with your credit cards or iPhone because they don't take cash. One complaint I have is that whenever I have a rewards coupon, the online site tells me I cannot use it and I cannot figure out where to write to someone to let them know. At the website it just says to let the store know where you ordered your food so probably next week I will print out my reward and take it in and ask them what is going on with my rewards?? for one year I have never been able to use my rewards coupon. That is just horrible!! So I need to follow up. Oh another weird thing is that when you login the site says you may do so with Facebook but every time I try it says that function does not work? Odd. I come here when I want a healthier option or when I want to balance out some of the more unhealthier foods I eat. I like to get their plates where you can choose your protein, salad and extra side. The steak is always a solid option and you can choose how you want it cooked (e.g., medium rare). The steak is tender and super flavorful but I find that their medium rare can be inconsistent. A couple of times I ordered medium rare and it came out more medium. For salad, I love to get the baby arugula and if I am feeling extra healthy, I can choose it as my other side as well although I think they charge a little extra for that option. For sides, the seasonal veggies are good when you want something on the healthier side. They seem to be steamed with barely, if any, seasoning on them. In store they have a board by the register that tells you what the seasonal veggies are. They aren't always the same so I recommend checking before you choose it and don't like what comes out. I also love that they have a to-go/mobile order line for those who are in a rush or do not want to dine in. It's convenient and hassle-free. You order on the yelp or tender greens app and then go to the to-go/mobile order line at or after the time specified when you complete the order. This is the time your order should be ready by. Then you just tell them your name, they find your order and you leave. Quick and simple. read more

I've been to a few different locations for Tender Greens and they have all been decent, and reasonably priced. This was the first time that I visited the El Segundo location and while the restaurant was brand new and very nice looking, the experience was the worst that I've had at this chain. When entering the restaurant, there was one person in line and one person taking orders. The person at the register was patiently taking a phone order that took close to 10 minutes. I feel like phone orders should be handled by somebody that is not also responsible for the orders of the in-person customers. I should note that she was VERY friendly once it was our turn. I've posted a picture of my plate because this is the first time I've ordered the salmon (I typically order chicken) and I would consider this a small portion for the price ($16 before taxes). They do give a lot of veggies, but veggies aren't super valuable. The server/busser was also extremely friendly. I will most likely go back because of the convenient location, but I will be ordering the chicken from now-on. The salmon and even the Ahi which my fiancé ordered do not offer the kind of value that I would like in a hybrid quick-serve restaurant. I ordered a plate consisting of fried chicken, rice, and mashed potatoes with gravy. This order was take-out, so when I got home to see a piece of chicken the size of a plate, I was a little stunned. Trying to eat it was difficult since the chicken was so massive, the breading wasn't cooked all the way through. After a great spin class at Bay Club with my friend, we decided to check out Tender Greens for a healthy meal. We both went for the salmon with butter lettuce and seasonal mixed veggies which were root vegetables and Brussel sprouts. I had asked whether the salmon was wild caught, the cashier didn't know and asked someone in back who told her that it was farm raised. Then a few minutes later another worker said it was wild caught. My preference is to eat wild caught fish since I saw the segment on '60 Minutes' on how bad farm raised salmon is for you. I still went with the salmon even though there was conflicting thoughts. You would think that this would be specified on the menu. The salmon was cooked perfectly, not over cooked and dry. The salad I changed the dressing from a tarragon dressing to a garlic dressing. The butter lettuce salad was basic lettuce. Nothing else. Very boring. It came with a slice of grilled garlic French bread. The meal was healthy but the salad boring and blah. Tender Greens does not accept cash. Only credit or cash card. As a fan of Tender Greens, I've frequented many of their stores in Southern California. However, this location doesn't compare in location and quality as the other locations. Top Order Picks - I always order their Plates. Below are the different plate combinations I get. + Plate Protein Options: Fried Chicken Plate, Grilled Salmon Plate, or Herb Brushed Tuna. Their proteins are usually on the conservatively-sized portions since they are either free-range or sustainably sourced. + Plate Salad Options: I always select the Baby Kale option for salad. It's not fibrous or tough. Since they use baby kale, it's often tender and easier to chew and digest. + Plate Side Options: I always select the creamy and smooth goodness of their Mashed Potatoes. This location, however, is the least of my favorites. What I Don't Like: - Location: This location is on the much smaller size. Although there is an outdoor patio section to enjoy the beautiful Southbay weather, the actual size of the restaurant is tiny and doesn't have much seating for groups or a modest group of 4. - My Ungrilled Bread: I've been a frequent visitor at their other locations, but this was the first location that their grilled sliced bread strayed so much from what I'm used to. I'm not sure if it's because they're trying to bust out orders quick and quality control isn't closely checked, but the sliced bread on my plate lacked the crisp, perfectly oiled, and seasoned goodness. The grilled bread is something I usually look forward to. - Lines out the door: During busy hours the lines are frequently out the door. I can be painful to wait for 10 minutes out in the sweltering sun. Perhaps next time, take advantage of the Mobile Order option to bypass the lines? - Ambience: During busy hours the noise level inside the restaurant can get crazy. The first time I came for a casual lunch meeting and it took a while for us to find a spot to sit, but it was difficult to hear conversations. - Parking: It's next to a small-size lot (which creates horrible traffic jams), but there is structure parking just around the corner. read more
