I've had tender greens a few times and it wasn't too bad . This last experience changed that . To start off .. I should've knew this was coming spending 65$ on 3 salads and 2 drinks . One of the salads, the harvest chicken salad, had no chicken. The longevity salad was okay but again missing items this time being the mini sweet peppers or dried pears... the food felt incomplete and honestly if it wasn't delivered to me I would've sent it back to the kitchen. I love Tender Greens for a healthy, fresh lunch. This location is in the Apollo Landing which, frankly, has my least favorite parking setup, but has good restaurants. You have to park in the parking structures off of Apollo. They are free to park there. It's quite busy at lunch here but you should be able to find a place to sit as they have ample seating. I like to sit outside where the noise levels are lower and the sun is shining. I've had the salmon plate here twice, once with the arugula salad and veggies, and another time with tomato soup and veggies. Both times I was happy with my, although I will say my salmon was TINY the first time I came here. I had to ration it into little bites to make it last through my whole meal (yes, I'm weird like that!). My sister likes to get their chicken, and she says it's really good. For drinks their iced tea is really good. I also love their dessert - carrot cake! It ain't cheap here and that's why I docked one star. I think it's overpriced for what you are getting. Decided to stop by here before heading to the airport for my flight. I placed an online order so that I could pick up my food in time. When I arrived, none of the orders had my name on it so I asked the workers. They took a few minutes to check the system for my order and check what was out on the counter. Luckily they ended up making my order really quick so I didn't miss my flight. While I'm grateful I still got my food quickly, I don't understand what happened to my original order. I love the look of this Tender Greens! It has a nice, open space concept that is refreshing and relaxing. They have bar like area with an open kitchen. This where one can hang out and wait for their to-go orders. Service here is pretty quick as well and needless to say the food is healthy and tasty! I recently tried their special avocado toast. it was unlike other avocado toasts, I've had because it did have a surprise spicy kick to it. The folks working here are pretty friendly. I go here 1-2x a week to order the same salad - tuna nicoise. I like a lot of things on their menu and this is my favorite. However, in my last visit, they completely messed up my order. I ordered a rare tuna and I got well done. That's just extreme. I get that sometimes you order a rare and it comes out medium rare because the protein continues to cook while resting, but to go from rare to well done? That means they just messed up my order. We love their Harvest Chicken salad and their seasonal vegetables. The chicken is flavorful and moist, unlike the chicken that many other places use for their salads. We usually order on the app, which is great since we easily can start with what we've ordered in the past and get the exact same thing or quickly modify it. Yesterday, I ordered at the counter and "Tiare" was terrific. She knew their whole menu and even the calorie count for each item. Writing a review for an order placed on 2/25/24. I ordered a salmon salad and seared tuna plate and was completely left in shock to find what seemed to be pieces of glass in my food. When I bit into this I initially had thought I had broken my tooth. It was hard as rock and multiple very large pieces in both of my meals. When I called to report this issue, I was told by their manager over the phone, that this was simply salt and she instructed me to look it up on the internet. I'm not sure what kind of salt this is, but I have never encountered such a thing; by no means what this edible. I couldn't help but think about older folk eating this, or someone with fragile teeth biting into this "salt". This is not edible and presents as a potential health hazard. They have something for everyone for your meat loving friends to your vegan and gluten free ones too. You can order online and pick up in store. We have repeatedly spoken with the manager and they have fixed it but every time. We are busy at work, place our order, walk across the street and it's so frustrating. I ordered the ahi with 2 side salads. The spinach has no goat cheese and no almonds. It's maybe less than a 1/2 cup. Cooked it would be 1/8 cup. Salad had way too much dressing which frankly had too much mayonnaise and not enough Caesar seasoning, also my mashed potatoes were oddly tart? Not like sour cream but like lemon juice? I've heard great things about this chain and had hoped it was like some of the other great new restaurants that opened recently in the area. Alas, no, this was a sore disappointment. The layout of this location is different from other locations. You enter immediately before the ordering counter and you cannot secure seating until you have ordered. Perhaps this was operationally intentional - I found the layout difficult for larger groups as you cannot first scout or save a large table for friends who come late. Other than this, the space was bright, large and modern. I ordered the Backyard Steak and was excited when the cashier mentioned it was cooked medium rare. That is exactly as steak should be cooked and I love steak juicy and tender. What came was medium and soon became well done on my plate as the meat was both over cooked and not rested. Others have mentioned that the serving size is on the small side - I found this to be true too. Service should be lots smarter. We asked for a substitution as we are not fans of sweet potatoes. The cashier recommended that we add a side of mixed veggies. When the food came, the mixed veggies was 95% sweet potatoes plus 1 brussel sprout. We thought this may have been a mix up in the kitchen - perhaps they forgot our request to drop sweet potatoes and add the mixed veggies. The waiter was confused but then communicated that the mixed veggies was indeed yet more sweet potatoes. The cashier shouldn't have recommended this as a substitution. What's more disappointing is that the waiter didn't apologize and only asked if he should scrape the sweet potatoes off the plate. That was odd. Why not ask if we could get a side order of brussel sprouts or some other veggie as this is a salad place at heart? SMH Nearly $20 per head is pretty up there. We sure didn't have the food or experience that warrants this price tag. We don't plan on returning - going next door from now on! read more

So this is tough but my second experience with the SLOWEST Service ever at Tender Greens on Rosecrans. I order a Chicken Bowl and cup of soup. There are 3 other Dine In Customers. I look at my watch and see that 24 minutes have gone by and I ask what's up with my order and I listen as the cashier asks the cook about the order. Cook can't see ticket and then starts the attitude. I ask for refund and ask who manager is and it was the lady cooking. Manager then has to come facilitate the refund and gives me attitude and then I let her know about the lousy service, the poor attitude and what you have done in orders you should actually prioritize these. Update 5/10/20 - This location should be closed by the health department. One of the employees who was responsible for handing out food and taking orders was wearing her mask below her nose, pulling her mask below her mouth to talk to customers and also touching her face. Ridiculous!!!! By far the worst Tender Greens I have yet to dine at, and I have eaten here more than a dozen times. The layout differs from all other TGs I have been to and I have experienced frequent queuing issues at this location that seem to defy logic. The lines may be the result of the design or the workers. I have frequently arrived to find a line out the door but only one cashier working despite other employees standing around behind the cashier doing nothing but talking. Several times my food has arrived at my table with a significant amount of the lettuce extremely wilted and sometimes even tasting funky - as if I was being served spoiled lettuce. The salmon is always over salted, even when I ask them to be light on the salt - I have given up asking as it seems to make no difference. Given that Tender Greens is supposed to be a healthy option one would think they would be less liberal with the salt, but maybe they think sodium is something the generalUS public does not get enough. While the above things bother me what irritates me most is the lack of cleaning up that goes on at this location. Tables are bussed but I have yet to ever see an employee wipe one down. When I do eat here I have to search out for what looks like a cleanish table, then I spill some water on the table and wipe it down myself. Maybe there is an environmental reason this location does not wipe tables down with any regularity. In general I can only guess that the managers and employees of the Tender Greens El Segundo location just do not care - or maybe they just do not take pride in their work. read more
