I wanted to give them more stars but less than great customer service kept them at 2. Our visit was shortly after they opened. Our food was good, drinks are delicious, with free refills on many. The regional chef-trainer greeted us and gave the rundown on the menu. Food arrived quickly. My only complaint with the fried chicken sandwich was the heavy, unsalted batter. Neither the chicken or the batter were seasoned. But we left with a free to-go refills on our drinks and were generally happy. Second visit, last week, was not as inspiring. Order two salads via the app..easy. Got home to find that the Cobb was missing avocado and the lettuce in the salad was mostly in giant pieces. The Chinese Chicken, really Chinese in name only, was missing peanuts, cilantro, scalllions, and the pea shoots...pretty much half of the listed ingredients. Dressing also not very tasty. Placed a call to the restaurant and spoke with with a very friendly staff member, who apologized for the errors and said she would pass on my comments to the manager right away and I'd be receiving a call back shortly. That was Dec. 27, still no call back. We were excited after our first visit, but now not so much. With so many options in the neighborhood, dining choices often come down to customer service. Best lunch spot, great salads, and the chicken is bomb. I got the chipotle chicken salad and it was awesome. The chicken is so tender and juicy but the best part is it was not overloaded with chicken or salad. Good ratio of the two and combined with a delicious dressing it really filled me up. I like the salad because it is a lot of food but doesn't make you feel full, if you are super hungry though the main dish and side option is awesome for you. I've had Tender Greens a few times, but I've noticed it's gone downhill. I always order their fried chicken, mash potatoes, and veggies, salad or tomato soup. Today, I wasn't very impressed. Mehhhh!! maybe their food is super fresh and free of whatever is bad, but their prices don't match the quantity. Astronomical prices. I had a side of mashed potato and it was dry and bland. Their sandwich was good-I must say! They have a Kombucha from Tap for $5 for a fairly small cup. It tastes like the Kombucha you would buy from Sprouts. Great quality but why spend $5 on a small cup when you can get 4 times as many or more if you go buy it yourself in a grocery store. Prices are ridiculous here at this place. read more

I realize I'm late in this review, but honestly it slipped my mind. On 7/14, I ordered a California Steak bowl through Uber Eats and it was definitely not the greatest experience I've had with TG. The food was lukewarm,, no pepitas, no sweet potato and no crema. Typically when I dine in, I don't have any issues with the food. But after my last order, I refuse to use any delivery service because I was extremely dissatisfied and with the food delivery fees, this was definitely NOT worth it. They give you an electronic number and one of the workers goes around to check to see if you've gotten your food. Love that! Unfortunately, I will never order from them again. This review is for customer service only. I ordered 12 plates for a work function on their online catering menu. They ran the charge the day I ordered the food which was three days prior to my pick up. I picked up the food which was individually plated as I requested. As you can see from photos i took from their website, they offer two proteins and two sides. It is even confirmed in the order (also attached). What I didn't realize (until our group was 3/4 done with the food) is that they only included one protein. When I called them afterwards to inquire, i was told the protein is first or second but not both. However, first choice, second choice on the sides provides you with both sides. Apparently it doesn't work that way with the protein (even though the confirmed order is written like we should expect both proteins). I was told that I misunderstood what is written online. The manager (River) at Tender Greens would not offer me even the slightest credit but told me it was my misunderstanding and to contact corporate. He also said they have nothing to do with the website. Wow. I got in touch with Emma at corporate and though she was polite, she also told me it was a misunderstanding but offered no credit. Not to take it out on wait staff but i finally asked for my tip back and she offered to refund that. Not sure how that works that you are okay refunding a tip that staff gets but not offer any type of credit for not providing what you advertise. I understand businesses are hurting and am empathetic but this is bait and switch and its disappointing there is no effort in making it right. read more

"It takes effort to ruin food like this..." is what my girlfriend said as we "finished" our meal. One of our favorite (and most frequent) dishes is the Chinese Chicken Salad with salt and pepper chicken. They found a way to remove the flavor from everything from the "seasoned" chicken to the watery dressing. The "spicy" harissa spiced potato chips were about as flavorful as old ketchup. The tortilla soup was a travesty. I imagine if Cup of Noodles made a tortilla soup they would win in a head to head taste test. This was a true disappointment. We frequently head to Tender Greens as a healthy, quick, and delicious option. I'm not saying we won't be back to TG but not back to the El Segundo location. A Tribe Called Quest may have left their wallets in El Segundo but I didn't think they had to sacrifice their taste buds too. read more

In the moment the happy vegan salad was delicious at about 1:30pm. Drove back to Long Beach about 3:30 and felt kinda funny - headache. 4pm Took a nap until about 8pm. Woke up with some serious stomach issues. 9pm I feel it all about to come out both ends - YUP. It's tricky when literaterlly you have to finish on the toilet to switch to the sink. This is like tender greens lite. Doesn't have any of the warmth and inviting friendly community vibe of the others. I love that you practically walk right into the food at the other ones and you cost your food based on what it looked like. Here the food is prepared in the back and you can't see it at all. Also, the food isn't as good. My nicoise salad - the dish that I have gotten for probably 10 years, was COVERED with kosher salt. Totally inedible. They replaced it, but with less, and they didn't ask me if I wanted something else, after being totally grossed out. Also, no quail eggs. I don't usually rate on yelp, and have never given a negative review, but this was SO out of alignment with what w expect from TG and SO disappointing! I stopped in here for a quick lunch and really enjoyed my experience! As soon as i walked in, Amber, who was working at the register, happily greeted me, and when i mentioned that i had never been before, she gave me the Lo-down on the menu and thoughtfully made recommendations. She quickly and thoroughly gave me all of my options which was incredibly helpful. It was nice to be greeted by someone who seemed to really care about their job! I took a seat at the high top seating that gives a view of the kitchen - everyone was working hard, quickly, and quietly, and the food was being handled properly and in a very clean environment. The bathrooms were pristine. My food came out at warp speed! When i received my food, while i had ordered it to go, i had a few moment to give it a taste before i put the to go lid back on. Another staff member (Ronjee? Forgive me on the spelling of her name) immediately assisted me when i looked around like i was in need of something - she quickly provided additional utensils, checked on me again, and when i was finished and was walking away asked if (what appeared to be a dirty napkin in my hand) was trash, and if she could take care of it for me. Anyone else in her position would have ignored me and not taken pride in their job, yet she was attentive and warm, and her wonderful service was so unexpected but very much appreciated. I had the falafel with arugula salad and the special potato leek soup of the day - freaking amazing. If people complain about price for portion size they are being cheap - it's very fair for the amount of food you get, is absolutely delicious, fresh, and thoughtful. Amber and Ronjee went over the top to make my experience enjoyable and i was so incredibly surprised, simply because i don't get that kind of service even sometimes when i go to fancy restaurants that cost 20x this meal. The first time I went to order I had a pleasant experience. The second time I went in they thought I ordered a salad and created my plate with less meat when I ordered a chicken plate with double salad. I'm disappointed because when I opened my meal the chicken smelled gross and it was cold. I ordered a side of mash potatoes and my total was $19. I felt cheated out of my money for something worth $7 at best with the small four slices of chicken I got. The first time I ordered the exact same thing and got 6 big pieces of chicken. This particular location is probably the nicest of the Tender Greens I've dined at, everything is shiny and new! So great to have another healthy option, especially one that is so quick and convenient. Our food was out not only made to order, but out in just a matter of minutes. Service was friendly and helpful from when we ordered, til the minute we left. My salmon and tender greens salad were great, and I suggest added their bacon to anything you get. I've been a consistent Tender Greens customer and was excited when I saw this modern Tender Greens, I was excited to try it! This Tender Greens has a more open and fancier look than most. Its outdoor patio seating makes lunch on a sunny day really nice. Tender Greens offers a simple, well-balanced meal for lunch or dinner. The mash potatoes are the best - so fluffy and delicious. BBQ Chicken is very light and tuna is super fresh! Seating can be tricky especially for big groups. The service could use some improved as they forgot one of our meals. This location attracts a lot of nearby workers so during lunchtime the line usually out the door. Overall a well-proportioned meal, perfect for lunch! read more

This review is specific to El Segundo. I've been a Tendergreens fan since their first location opened. And I'm glad there are more! I love the menu. Their expansion has been interesting to watch. And it seems like the people part of their growth is their biggest challenge. Their El Segundo team seems out of sync with the brand. They frequently don't know the menu. And the preparation of the food is stingy on portions and carelessly presented. These details are important to the Tendergreens vibe, that set it apart from a regular fast food chain. At El Segundo It feels like the manager comes from a cheap fast food chain attitude who hires/treats their team in the same way. They could go observe the teams and learn from the older stores in Culver City and Pasadena for example to see/feel the difference. And it's not just the front staff, but the cooks as well. For example multiple times when I've called to place an order of a full size arugula salad - a staple menu item since day one - a staffer will *argue* (not in a nice way) with me that "it's not on the menu, and we've never had it!" Since the El Segundo location is close to my home it would be great to have that same friendly, healthy food-knowledgeable vibe that was part of Tendergreens story from the start. Think about In-n-Out - their people vibe is consist across every location! That's one of its hallmarks and why people love them. We are avid Tender Green customers and have been to mostly all the locations in the area. Since we were in the neighborhood, we decided to dine at this new location. Unfortunately, our experience today was not! While placing our order with Fatima, she did not hear the full order. Honest mistake. No big deal. The very friendly and accommodating Dawson advised the order was not on the receipt and offered to put in the order. Fatima left her register to come over to our table and confronted us. Instead of stating she did not hear the full order, she told us we did not place the order. Can you imagine how it feels for someone to tell you what you did not not say and you KNOW what you said?! Fatima's was completely out of line. We felt attacked! Her attitude is unprofessional, aggressive and her tone was condescending. While we won't come back to this location, hopefully Fatima will be re-trained in customer service with a refresher course on her people skills because she clearly missed mark! read more

Several tables were dirty and not being cleaned. Server rang up our order incorrectly- we asked for a bowl with no shrimp and it was brought on the side. Used to love Tender Greens. Was my favorite California food chain. Now it's just a frustration. The staff has always been friendly, but too often there are little mistakes or a situation where they need help finding out how to redeem a gift card or the kitchen doesn't allocate double the protein as ordered. The overall food of Tender Greens has gone down. Choices are not as good as they once have, portion sizes seem way smaller. The Wifi here never works properly and that's a bigger deal because the Verizon service is null here. So when you try to login to the Tender Greens app it barely logs in or takes too long. Fix the Wifi and it will make a big difference. Also fix the Tender Greens app on Android. It hasn't worked properly in some time. I was able to earn points by logging into the app via my wife's iPhone. I still like the Tender Greens food but believe corporate and this location have a lot of work to do. read more

Honestly, I felt in my soul that Culver would be the ultimate, but when I walked into the ELS location, boy was I pleasantly surprised....1) Location!!!! 2) Quality - the tuna nicoise was the best I have had!!! 3) Customer Service - not only is the staff super friendly and helpful, but their designated promoter ROY made our experience one of kind (I have been here twice and each time is magical)! I fell in love with this place today! I cane with a group of friends around 1 and the cashier took our orders with a smile and he was so helpful and nice. This place gave me great vibes and the food is delicious!!!! Great quality food and service. There was also a really nice lady that brought us our food and kept checking on us. Stopped in to Tender Greens for lunch during the busy lunch rush. I ordered a Chicken Cobb Togo which is one of my favorite salads they have. Alexis was my server and she was great. She repeated my order and offered me dessert. Who can turn down a chocolate chip cookie? Not me! I probably waited 10 mins or less it was 12 so lunch time was in full swing. The brand new restaurant in #ElSegundo is bar far the best with nothing coming close to second. This is our second visit in 3 days as we tried the chicken and now the steak. The Brussel Sprouts were also a plus. Great atmosphere and an extremely nice staff. read more

Really awesome set up. Been to other locations before and this one is so nice, modern, and has a good amount of open space. It's got a really nice aesthetic to just chill and eat in. Really appreciate how friendly and welcoming the staff were (especially after I've had a stressful day at work) and I know I can always come here if I need some good comfort food and a friendly face. The the food is really good as well! My favorite is the fried chicken sandwich and mashed potatoes! Plus it's worth checking what specials they have as they tend to be quite good. For example they had some sweet potato mash potato thing (don't remember the specific name) that was really good on their specials menu once (perfect mix of sweet savory and buttery). Normally I come here and get a great experience but today I tried to place and order over the phone as I was driving back from the airport. My call was received as I was placed on hold no problem, until 15 mins later the phone was finally answered but by then I was at the restaurant already. No real compassion for keeping me on hold or even a care. I'm curious if my order will be ready in 15 mins or is that another extra wait time. Great service at this location. There was an older lady working the patio area. She was very attentive, genuine, and loving. She made sure we had the tender green app to receive a free mimosa and other perks. She made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our brunch. She definitely gave this tender greens a different vibe. We tried the chicken and waffles, and the chilaquiles. I must say I LOVE the chicken and waffles! It's a big portion (perfect portion in my opinion). I was full most of the day although I have a fast metabolism..hehe. The chilaquiles were also delicious but they were a bit spicy for me.
