Great for a healthy, yummy lunch or dinner. Lots of open space and tables inside and out. Can get busy at lunch time and take 15+ min to get food. So go before 12 if in a hurry. I had the Thai shrimp bowl and it was very spicy and flavorful, everything was delicious. My only thing is that it is very expensive for what you get. Came here only because Urban Plates wasn't open yet at the time. I've probably been here before but I don't remember it tasting this bad. I'm not sure if they gave me the wrong entree but the BBQ chipotle chicken didn't taste like there were any BBQ chipotle flavor. It was like a plain grilled chicken that was really dry and it was hard to even chew. The arugula salad was supposed to have like a vinaigrette flavor but the dressing was like this white sauce that didn't even have any vinaigrette flavor in it. Finally, the Mac and cheese was like this big block of cold and hard brick with this weird crumb toppings (also really hard to stomach because it had no flavor). Sorry but don't ever order food online at Tender Greens and expect it to be ready at the promised time. It won't happen. I scheduled my food 45 minutes ahead of time so it would be ready at the given time - 12:15 pm. But no. It wasn't. They said that there was the lunch rush. Of course. There is always a lunch rush at 12:15 pm. But don't businesses plan around that when they get online orders? Apparently not here. What was worse was the lack of finding my order - or acknowledging that I had an order - until exasperated, I cornered the third person working behind the counter and asked if anyone had my order. They hadn't made any of it so I had to wait for it. And meanwhile people are coming in asking about their online order and again, they were also getting the runaround. When I finally got my food - Chinese Chicken Salad- it was delicious. But by then, I was so pissed off at the whole experience I couldn't really enjoy it. I ordered 1.5 pounds of bbq chicken, a Caesar salad, & veggies. (Meals for 4 people) This is the quality of chicken I received. I was utterly in shock that anyone would package and send out 1.5 pounds of burnt chicken. These pieces of chicken were so burnt that they were hard as a rock. The chef should be ashamed of himself sending such an item out. I am sad to say this is the first and only time I will ever order from this restaurant. Had a salmon Salad. Salmon was 80% grey color. Yes, it's normal to have SOME gray color on salmon steak directly under the skin. BUT THIS WAS about 80% (chunk) of the 1/2 piece of the salmon on the salad. I took my concern to the Manager and she was very polite and immediately offered me something else. I did not want anything else, I informed her the salmon was bad and the salad had no taste. I did not want anything else nor my money back. Also the salt pepper shaker was totally blocked and we could not get it to work on the tasteless food. The couple beside us was having the same problem with the shakers. My friend ordered a chicken salad and did not find it appetizing at all, as she just took a few bites and stopped eating. I did stopped as well but did take my complaint to the manager. What is going on at the Pasadena Tender Greens? My husband and I used to LOVE the Chicken Cobb salad. We were impressed with it on all levels after ordering it about 2 months ago. And now, each time we've ordered it since then, it has gotten smaller and smaller. Plus stingier: 3 times, they left out items entirely, mostly the avocado and sometimes the egg. Other times we would get 1/2 an egg or a thimble-full of bacon. The chicken gets drier and drier. What's up? Are there cost-cutting measures going on we don't know about? If so, this will result in patron-cutting measures ... from us, and I'm sure others. Plus, good luck actually TALKING to someone. I've been to the Tender Greens in Hollywood, and now I wanted to have the same great experience in the city of Pasadena. I drove over to this place one weekday morning. I found parking along Colorado Blvd, which is not hard on a weekday, but might prove challenging on a weekend. I walked in, and found the place to be not too packed. I decided to go with lemon-pepper chicken breast, with brown rice, and a salad. The chicken was cooked very well, the rice was a good complement, and the salad had vinaigrette and mozzarella on top. It took us 25 minutes to get the food on a Thursday afternoon after 3pm! Absolutely ridiculous--I would have been okay if our food was hot because they had to make it fresh, but our seasonal veggies and mashed potatoes were room temp. My fried chicken was warm; his seared tuna was barely seared. Hours later, my SO was back and forth from the bathroom. I have got to say that I am extremely disappointed at my experience here. I took my wife and kid to try this place because we were told by friends that this was a good place to eat. At first I thought everything was going to be fine. We ordered a Chipotle Chicken Plate, Salmon Plate, Grilled Chicken Cobb, and a Mint Lemonade. We received our drink first and was told that our food would be delivered to us at the table with the number that we displayed. 15 min passes, and I go in to ask the lady at the cash register what is taking so long. It seems like 3 or 4 customers that came in to order after us got their food and already left. I dont know if the worker was new, but I asked what was going on with our food. There was no explanation or apology, all I was told was that the food will be taken out and to just sit down. I go back to my seat outside. 10 min passes again and I go back to ask the lady where is our food? Not only do I have a pregnant wife, I have a kid that was hungry, this is not a good combination. So I go back to ask and flag down someone else working there. Finally at that time, they discovered that our food was NEVER made. Without an status or apology, the lady just said we are making it now, and will bring it out to us. 35 min now has passed, so I went in one more time to check what exactly was going on. At this point it has gotten dark outside, and I was just going to ask them to put it in Togo containe I was then told that the food is coming right up by another worker there, and said that our meal would be taken care of. The food finally came. There was no Grilled Chicken Cobb Salad (they gave us a steak plate instead), the Chipotle chicken plate came out with one of the wrong sides, and we received the Salmon Plate also w a wrong side. At this point we were just annoyed and hungry, so we just decided to eat the food that was brought out. Finally there was some sort of apology when the food was brought out, with a note that they would take care of the meal. There was no receipt given to me, or no timeline on when it would be A week later now, there was NO refund on my credit card. I had to personally call earlier today to find out what was going on, and person told me that there was no refund of this meal at all, and that they had to process it. Not only did we have to wait a long time, not get the correct food we wanted to eat, but also was given a empty promise that they business was sorry for what happened, that they would take care of our meal, but didnt. I have not been this disappointed in a place for a long time. We only chose to visit this place because of a friends recommendation while we were at an event close by here. I am confused by my experience, as I have seen many others have great reviews of this place. I would want to note that I wanted to make sure that I dont just give one star, because the food was decent, even though it wasn't exactly what we ordered. I love the food from Tender Greens. I typically Postmates from this Tender Greens, but the last few times I've received my order via Postmates, I'd have at least one or two items missing. Today I ordered online for a pick up. I'm glad I checked the bag before I left. I went back to ask for my missing peach kobbler and their response was, "Oh, we ran out." If I hadn't walked out and checked my bag, they wouldn't have told me or asked me for a replacement or refund. Once I got home, not only was I missing my peach kobbler, but also my bread, gravy for my two orders of mashed potatoes, and my vinaigrette for my spinach salad (although it wasn't much of a salad, it was just the spinach). I enjoy eating Tender Greens. I am very disappointed in the service and the multiple times I have had multiple missing items in my order. If you ever order here, I'd highly suggest checking that your order is right and complete. read more

As much as I love their salads and plates, the customer service here always ends up being an issue, particularly with the girl there today. The food comes out extremely slow and they never get their initial pickup time right. It doubled from 15 minutes to over 30 just on the drive there. Then god forbid you ask about it without her giving you an attitude. This happened on our last dine in experience, where I was done with my salad long before my partner's food came out and it was not busy. When we asked her, she was rude and short about it. Telling him to just sit and wait. When t came the fish was burnt and fries cold. We had to have it made again. Today, after adding 20 minutes already and telling my partner to come back, I went in at the extended time it said it would be ready to ask again, now 25 minutes beyond the original estimate. The food is sitting there but the pie is just going in the oven to heat up. Why didn't that go in when my partner came in the first time? She asked me to wait longer and I said I can just warm it up myself. This is where it gets weirdly petty. I ordered a lemonade and apparently they were giving me a larger container of it, but when I asked for the pie to just be given to me instead of warmed up bc we needed to go, she told the guy to take the larger lemonade away and give me a regular cup, then just dumped the other one out. If you don't like your job, try a different one. This location needs to get it together. I dread dealing with this same woman each time and the unknown of when the food will be ready and if it'll be warm, but it's the closest location. *edit because I'm seeing all the reviews with the same complaints about the rude staff. This is sort of a hybrid quick casual restaurant with really fresh, home cooked-tasting options where you pick a salad, protein, and side and come out with a tasty meal. When I visited on a Saturday morning it wasn't busy at all and there were quite a few open tables outside in front of the restaurant - the city has taken over one lane of Colorado Blvd. for outdoor dining space which was great. This place is so good. Everything (and I mean everything) has flavor. Went here with some friends after a long day and got the chicken pesto sandwich with veggies on the side. Bomb. Amazing. This is a place I order from a lot when I am in Pasadena. I love their large selection of healthy options. They usually get your order right but sometimes they go a little too fast and can mess it up. I like the generous portion sizes and the ability to request all white meat. I usually order one of the chicken plates. They have the best roasted potatoes and I am also addicted to their carrot cake cupcakes. So delicious. I did an uber eats delivery and it took one hour 40 min to get to me. The order wasn't in a tender greens bag and it's clear the tamper evident seal was ripped open (bag wasn't sealed at all). The soups are 2/3 filled when it used to be filled all the way to the top. I paid $30 for both of these "quart" soups and probably got one and a half bowls instead for each. It gets worse each time I order from here. It's truly a hit or miss with this place. You're better off ordering from corner bakery or panera bread for chicken soup. read more

When I first heard the name, my immediate response was "hell no, too healthy" But I took a look at their menu online, and it quickly changed my mind. There were meats like spicy chicken, medium rare steak and fried chicken. That was enough for me to come try this place. Weekday lunch hours can draw a crowd from the nearby Pasadena businesses. We cam a bit after ad there was no line, but at least 2/3 full. It's a cafeteria style setting (seems to be popular these days) Study the menu on the wall (or look at my photo) and move on down the line and tell them what you want. Pay at the end, and your order is ready shortly after. You can choose plates, where you pick a protein, side and some type of greens, aka veggies. There's salad or grilled. Get the grilled! There's a slight char, its well seasoned and tasty. All come with a grilled crostini. You can also opt for a sandwich, which also comes with a side. If you're feeling extra healthy, they also have salads and soups. We got one steak plate with mash potatoes, and a steak sandwich on ciabatta, and grilled veggies. The steak was nicely seasoned with salt, came out pink and medium rare and had a great char flavor. Can't say it was the best quality beef on either plate but they both had good flavor. Mostly tender with a few bites that were chewy or fatty. Service is pretty pleasant. A guy walks around the floor cleaning up plates and even offered to bring water to some. They seem to get many takeout orders stacked up on a pick up counter. Seems like several were Door Dash or some other delivery service. The place remains fairly clean for the amount of traffic that goes through. After one meal and a taste of their steak, I'm sold on Tender Greens. It's been a some time since I've last been here, and I live in the building over the restaurant. I had been thinking about their fried chicken plate for the last few days, and I'm so glad I stopped in. I ordered the fried chicken plate, mixed veggies, potatoes, and a side spinach salad with a hibiscus tea. Around $26 The warm, spinach, salad with slivered almonds and vinaigrette was very tasty. The fried chicken is made to order and it took a little extra time compared to other options, but it was worth the wait. It was hot and juicy, the excellent combination veggies of broccolini snap peas,, mushrooms, and carrots was very good off the grill. The mashed were very creamy served with a half slice of grill bread. It was a lot of very good food, and a great value at $26 in this crazy over priced world we now live in! I really want to give them higher than 4 stars but some things need improvement. They really need salt and pepper on the tables and the vegetables could have used a little butter. I asked for both but they should be available at the front or on the table. The location is getting a little tired looking. With just a lite freshening of the inside and the patio would make for a better experience at this location. But I will spend more time here for the food, and the value! read more

I don't understand the low score.. I've become obsessed with this place and order at least once a week with it being close to work. I've been trying to up my protein but can easily get grossed out by meat... the quality of their food is always reliable!!! I came here to have an early dinner on Sunday in mid February 2021. They had lots of tables outside and are dog friendly. You order inside or on your phone/online, they'll give you a number if you're eating there and will bring your food to your table when it's ready. I have a 3-lb Yorkie and they allowed him to walk inside while I ordered my food and got my table number. I usually get the Steak Plate with Mashed Potatoes and a side salad. My order came out to $14.33. Their Mashed Potatoes are the best! Their Steak is usually pretty well seasoned too. I'd stay away from their Seared Tuna and their lemonade. The Seared Tuna is pretty bland and their lemonade is too sour. There is street parking or you can park in the Trio Apartment lots behind the restaurant. If you decide to park in the lot, the entrance is on Madison and don't forget to validate your parking ticket. Validated parking over one hour is $4.50 but I think if it's under an hour it's free. read more
