We got the family meal. Kind of confusion when you first walk in people standing all around the place and the pick food services were just getting their orders. We stood in line behind all the food pick up people. The food was ready and we paid and verified the food and went home. Parking is street parking but not so bad if you don't mind walking. We got the family meal with chipotle chicken. It was one breast and one thigh. The breast was tender and not dry. 5 stars for their marketing. The website features a $12.50 plate with 3 pieces of lettuce, a Weight Watchers-sized amount of protein, the accompanying sides, yet people still line up. My wife included. Of course when you receive your plate there's more than 3 pieces of lettuce, but it's still embarrassing when the to-go container is on the emptier side despite lettuce/kale being voluminous "filler." This place has really good salads and sandwiches. The mint lemonade is delicious! There's usually a line during lunch hours because of local businesses but if you come a little earlier or later it should be fine. You get in line and order your food and get to watch them make you food as you go down the line to pay. They have indoor and outdoor seating and is a first come first serve for the tables. Good and Healthy! Salmon Plate (5/5) - Light and tastes wonderful. My go-to choice when I come here, I highly recommend it! Mashed Potatoes (5/5) - Fluffy and it has a nice, distinct flavor that I can't describe? Kale Salad (5/5) - Kale itself isn't that tasty in my opinion but here, they serve it with a vinaigrette and parmesan cheese and it is so good. A must try. Agua Fresca (5/5) - I believe they change the flavors daily. Very refreshing and enjoyable. Fried Chicken Plate (3.75/5) - I find their Fried Chicken really iffy. I recommend the dark meat if you do decide to try it. The first time I tried it, the chicken was really batter-y and dry but the second time, I ordered dark-meat only and it tasted pretty good, but I wish they would add more seasoning. Tender Greens used to have a real vibe. Not any more. The dining room hasn't been updated in years. There's a depressed air to the place. They never emerged from the pandemic. The menu has been become much more complex then the food friendly simplicity of the original menu painted on the wall. The food is fine- and staff is great. Food is good and I like that they offer at least one vegan salad. Not sure if it's normal but I found the vegan salad with lemon vinaigrette to be really sour, if it was a bit less sour it would have been wonderful. The one item that I see that needs major improvement is the portion size. For the price, it's the right thing to do to give customers decent value for the money. We had one of the chicken plates and they seriously gave about 5 pieces of spring greens as the side "salad." Ridiculously felt short changed. Greens are not too expensive, at least provide an adequate portion. First timer here and I came for a pick up order. I ordered online for the backyard steak with butter greens , bread and roasted potatoes. very easy ordering the Tender Greens online site. I placed it about 20 minutes prior to pick up. It was all bagged and ready to go neatly in a large paper bag, and yes they included utensils. The steak was grilled perfectly, not overcooked, the right balance of medium rareness and a tasty mild charbroiled after taste. And it had a nice charbroiled sear to it as did the grilled bread and potatoes. I ordered extra salad dressing that was tangy and creamy( almost like buttermilk dressing. The salad greens were fresh and tender; in hindsight I wish I had requested some chopped red onions or diced scallions as an added topping. The portions were great for lunch and/or a light dinner . I really wish this location was as good as others. Every single time I've had a meal at this location I'm disappointed. Do yourself a favor and just go across the street and eat at Sweetgreens. On 5/29/24 at about 8:30pm I ordered two meals. The cashier was rude and when asked simple questions was condescending (I let that go because everyone has a bad day sometimes). Walked home only to realize they completely forgot the one side I was most looking forward to eating. Las time I ever give this location a chance. Maybe driving to Burbank is worth it. read more

This place is delicious, healthy and reasonably priced. I highly recommend their chicken pesto sandwich and their chicken soup. They do not skip on their ingredients, and everything was packed with flavor. My friend said her chipotle chicken salad was equally delicious with crunchy lettuce and just the right amount of dressing. The chicken was seasoned and cooked well and even had enough to take home. I was also super impressed with their service. Sam at the cash register was patient, kind and efficient. He has knowledge and pride in their product. There are three steps to completing your plate order. I chose (1) protein: fried boneless chicken, (2) greens: buttered lettuce, and (3) sides: mashed potatoes. My friend ordered the (1) protein: grilled salmon, (2) greens: romaine hearts, and (3) sides: mashed potatoes. **THE MASHED POTATOES ARE TO DIE FOR! We honestly visited just for the mashed potatoes! My family and I have gotten food from here many times, and every other time the order has been incorrect. I had a most disappointing experience from what used to be one of my faves. I started to place my order online but saw that there might be loyalty perks if I order off their app. So I downloaded their app (which I despise doing, since I don't like to add/dl more apps) and started to place my order there. Sure enough, at the end was an option to add my free drink. After multiple efforts however, it never let me add it. So I decided to call in my order and the tender greens employee confirmed she'd gotten several complaints about the app and that she was sorry. I absolutely hate doing this considering I used to be a regular here but... the pic speaks for itself. Customer service was poor and after ordering they said they'd bring the order to the table and gave me a table number. I waited 30 mins before going to the front. I see my order is sitting there along with three other orders. Once another lady waiting at her table sees me bring my food back she asks me if I had to go up and get my order. You stand in line, tell them what you want and they prepare the food for you. You pay and then take your food to your table and dig in! Tender greens ain't tender anymore! We used to love coming to Tender Greens for many years pass. Now, it's becoming the least favorite place to eat. We usually order the Chipotle BBQ Chicken salad with bread. The chicken was cold, hard and not freshly cooked. It felt like the chicken cooked over 4 hours ago or was put in the fridge and brought out. The lettuce used to be fresh and crisp but not anymore. The whole dish didn't look appetizing and pieces of dried chicken were tossed in with the salad. The Chicken used to be on top of the salad and not mixed in. The bread was hard as a rock. The bread used to be thinly sliced grilled baguette and now it is sourdough and cold. Everything we ate was bad. Also, the men's restroom was dirty and nasty which made it even more unpleasant. We saw customers waiting in line with no food for 30 minutes or more. The cooks disappeared and most staff were back in the kitchen. Just 3 people were at the front. We saw two customers had their hands on their heads because the orders were not moving. Another couple was told that their side dishes were not available. We could feel the customers were unhappy and hungry. As soon as the dishes arrived, they were chowing down like hungry prisoners. So sad and disappointing that this place is going down. It's been like this for about 5 years already and it's getting worse. Don't think I would come back again soon. read more

I forgot why I had this place bookmarked on Yelp, as I usually write a note whether it was a recommendation I received or if the place has something interesting for me to try. After BF suggested we try knocking out one of my Yelp bookmarks for Sunday dinner, we went to Tender Greens since it wasn't too far and the menu had what we felt like we could eat (in this July summer heat). Every entrée on their menu starts at a base of $11.50, with a $0.50 upcharge for things like steak or fish. I picked the backyard marinated steak, on a hot plate with a Tender Greens salad (it comes with bread too!). BF picked the fried chicken, on a sandwich with kale salad. They have a Yelp check-in for agua fresca or mint lemonade, so I picked one while BF picked the other. The result? A yummy dinner! I would order the same things on the next visit. Some things to note from this first visit: 1. It felt like the a/c wasn't working at full capacity the night we went. It was pretty warm inside! It was a super hot Sunday, even at dinner time, and sitting outside to eat was better than inside because for some reason, the inside temp read 87 degrees! Barely felt any a/c. 2. Even though it was touted as medium rare on the menu, my steak came out medium well. It was probably just left on the grill too long and they gave it to me anyways. I didn't notice until I started cutting into it and eating it. The steak on the table next to me was medium rare and I envied them. I didn't want to waste food so I ate the steak, but definitely, my order would've tasted waaay better if the steak was medium rare. Because of this, I found BF's fried chicken sandwich to be the better tasting item from this trip. 3. I didn't realize their agua fresca was watermelon based. I have a slight non-life-threatening allergy to watermelon, so BF took my drink and gave me his mint lemonade, which was more sour than I would like. The remedy we found? Combine the two! The agua fresca is really light so mixed in with the mint lemonade and it balances the sour of it. 4. One more thing we found out is that the drinks are refillable, I think. While it's not a sit-down restaurant with servers, they have employees coming by to check if you are doing okay and clear out your done plates. They asked if we want some more agua fresca seeing our almost empty glass and refilled it. Five star potential if my steak was grilled medium rare as stated on the menu (it really made a difference in my meal). ***This edited portion of my review is for food that we were given to go, After they threw away my child's food last Monday.*** I called this store multiple times to get a refund after a foreign object was discovered in the mashed potatoes they gave us to take home. No One ever answers their phone, nor do they return voice messages left for them. I had to reach out to another location, explain what happened and ask for a refund for this (to-go) plate since the Pasadena store doesn't respond at all. I was told I would be receiving a refund but have not seen one yet. This store should have my contact number, which I confirmed with the manager at the other location, but I haven't heard anything except for the "business owners" response here on Yelp. I'm truly surprised at the lack of professionalism and responsiveness. The amount of money isn't the issue but the principle is. Maybe someone from Pasadena will remedy the issue, address why there was an ITEM INSIDE my child's food, which WASN'T FOOD and correct it soon. I used to love Tender Greens, but they've lost their way and my future business. TG really needs to fix how they handle the online deliveries and take care of all their customers! When I came in for dinner, my party of 3 were the only ones waiting to order. We promptly ordered but couldn't make it to the register to pay because it was crowded with over a dozen DoorDash delivery people waiting for the delivery orders to be ready. After we finally got our food, we sat down only to discover that they were out of all utensils so I had to wade my way back up to the counter and ask for more utensils. The people at the register were confused and overwhelmed by the delivery people constantly interrupting the flow of dine-in customers to promptly address the issue that there were customers who couldn't eat their food. Finally, with fork in hand, I could return to eat my now cold and burnt sweet potatoes and carrots. With so many more efficient healthy fast casual options in Pasadena, I would have to give this TG location a pass. read more

The steak was cold and we did not get the bread as stated on the menu. I asked for bread. I was told they would bring it to me.
