Cactus Kiss & Tokyo Melon Cream Soda Float

I came here because I heard this is one of the top ramen restaurants from Japan, and it did not disappoint! I was impressed by the food, the service, and the atmosphere. Food: The Spicy Ramen is a must try if you like spicy food. The broth is rich, creamy, and full of flavor. They also have a lot of appetizers to choose from. I really recommend the Shishito Peppers and the Creamy Egg Potato Salad. Everything we tried tasted great, and the menu has many different choices. Service: Jose, the restaurant manager, took great care of us during our visit. He was very friendly, welcoming, and attentive. He came by our table several times to make sure everything was good and even took time to chat with us. His excellent service made our meal even better. Atmosphere: The restaurant is much bigger inside than it looks from the outside. It is modern, clean, and comfortable. I was also surprised that they have a nice bar inside a ramen restaurant. Overall, it was a great dining experience, and I would definitely come back!

Come here if you wanna be left alone. I got seated right away at the counter. The service took forever. I was told by the server who took my order that she was going to bring me water and it never came. It wasn't until my food came and I had to ask that girl for water. Once that happened tho, no one ever came to check on me. I finished my meal and waited for a really long time, so I decided to write this review. I feel like walking right out. I won't. I finally just called someone over. The food: I ordered the classic kotteri combo with gyoza and rice. I thought it was an odd choice until the end when I put the rice in the broth! Brah! That's where they win. Otherwise the noodles weren't spectacular. It's Little Tokyo. There are better options for ramen.

Some of the best broth I've ever had. Seriously great. Definitely coming back. Maybe tomorrow

Tenkaippin is a ramen chain from Japan that specializes in "kotteri," or extra thick chicken broth ramen. Visually, the broth reminded me of tsukemen dipping broth, so I was expecting something rich and oily like a heavy tonkotsu. Surprisingly, the flavor was actually fairly light and not greasy at all. The noodles were cooked firm, and they definitely lacked some of that fresh noodle chew. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to try and honestly... only one was worth the money. The chicken karaage was delicious with juicy, tender chicken and a fresh tangy yuzu aioli on the side (you can get spicy mayo instead). The asparagus tempura itself was good and came topped with parmesan, but $8 for basically 4-5 asparagus spears is crazy work. The fried Spam allegedly comes inside the actual Spam can, which why I ordered it lol. Unfortunately they told us afterward someone had thrown out all the cans, so it ended up just being $8 fried Spam sticks. The tako shells were regular takoyaki in a fried wonton shell and is just gimmicky. They have some interesting cocktails. I tried the yuzu margarita which was decent, tasted like a regular margarita with a slight yuzu flavor. The restaurant itself is really spacious and is super new and clean, with mostly communal style seating where you can either sit side by side or across from each other. Service was fantastic too and our server was very friendly throughout the meal.

This is my 2nd time being here and the food is amazing! Everything is on point. The menu did change and I was hoping for their salmon on wonton skin. Service is amazing, we were taken care of. Left full and happy.

Tenkaippin is a must-try ramen spot in J-town. They opened late last year, and I purposely waited for the hype (and long lines) to calm down--totally worth it. The space is beautiful, with a modern-meets-traditional Japanese design. It feels cozy but also surprisingly spacious, and the open kitchen adds a nice touch. The highlight is definitely their signature thick chicken broth. Super rich, creamy, and flavorful--almost like a cream sauce. If you love creamy pasta, you'll probably love their Kotteri ramen. It's a nice change from the usual pork-based broths, and honestly, it stands out because of that. Pro tip: it's perfect with a side of rice. Cocktails are solid with plenty of options, and the service was great--everyone was friendly, attentive, and happy to answer questions. Bonus: they gave us a cute little ramen bowl toy when we paid, which was such a fun touch. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.

Is that Einstein eating ramen?? Wild. Not AI.

Steep competition on this block from other ramen shops! I think this T H I C C ramen is worth trying. I judge a ramen restaurant by how well they serve their Diet Coke - and TENKAIPPIN LA 本店 did not fail by serving me an ice cold can with a glass of ice. If a ramen restaurant has time to buy a machine and track inventory and order syrups or whatever, they're not focusing on their menu. Kotteri Signature combo is what I went for, because I was afraid of MAX. The menu said that once you go MAX, you never go back. I'm not ready to take that ride. My server swore it's not curry, and I trust him because he gave me Diet Coke in a can. What I ordered: * DIET COKE- $3.00 * Combo B Signature (Kotteri ramen and Salmon Avocado bowl) $25.00 * Seasoned Egg - $2.50 Plus tip = expect to pay around $40 if you aren't a tipping tightwad. That's what it costs to go out and get a good bowl of soup these days. Sorry the truth hurts. A slice of chashu pork, green onions, add a seasoned egg, plus a bowl of salmon avocado rice? You'll be so full. The noodles hold the broth well. When you finish your noodles and only the broth remains, not only does your spoon stand up in the broth as advertised- you can eat the broth with chopsticks. Parking is... downtown LA. Be prepared to park somewhere in a garage or the street and hoof it a few blocks.

This sign is why I entered & it was so yummy!

Didn't have time for a meal, but I saw the shaved ice sign out front and wanted dessert so we walked in. I'm so glad we dined in. The restaurant is huge with plenty of seating, very nice & modern. The yuzu mango shaved ice was delicious! Mango covering the top AND (to our surprise) mango underneath in the cup as well! I also really enjoyed the whip cream on top too. Total was $9 & some change. Very affordable dessert and it was shareable for 2. The service was great! The waiter was attentive & so nice. I didn't realize how parched I was until he kindly brought out large cups of water while we waited for the dessert. We are definitely coming back to try their special ramen, he was telling us it's a specific style of ramen so I'll update this review soon about it.

    Signature Ramen Chicken Broth with
    Bruce F.

I wanted to try this place. The chicken broth is very salty (bad) and thick (good). It was a different taste than regular ramen broth like pork tonkatsu. I'm not sure if I would eat it again, but it was worth a try!!!!

My bf & I went to little toyko village where this place is facing the street. There's limited street parking but parking structure around the block! We were sat within 5 mins given nighttime on a Sunday wasn't that busy. Theres a bar on the left side & cool led lights on ceiling. We mention'd it's our 1st time here so usually server explains the menu but she didn't & I felt like more questions I asked confused me more so I just went with combo since easier lol plus her voice was so low I couldn't hear her over the background music. The menu was a bit confusing to figure out as one page showed various ideal bowls & prices but our server asked if I still wanted everything inside like it was a la cart which having set photos threw me off. I figured out those weren't set bowls to order just ideal bowl pictures if you ordered those extra toppings. We both got the signature ramen combo w/ dumplings while he got the signature ramen + egg combo w/ salmon poke bowl! Combos were cheaper than bowls itself making it more worth it honestly. Signature broth was good but texture was like gravy which fills you up fast & we couldn't finish soup. Pork was bland flavor, not great. All bowls have pork & green onions but you have to add every other topping on! The salmon bowl was our favorite menu item & would come back for that.

Some Sundays ago, my friend & I had an early dinner at Tenkaippin. We chose this place because we knew it opened recently, and we wanted a warm meal. The restaurant wasn't busy at 5:30pm, so we were seated promptly. The indoor dining room was bright and quite spacious with a mix of traditional & modern decor, and the service was attentive and fast. I ordered the Silky Ramen ($19.50), which had a rich & smooth broth. There was good ratio of broth to noodles & toppings. The only con was that the bamboo shoots were cold in the hot ramen; it felt like the topping was an afterthought. Also, I ordered a side of Salmon Onigiri ($6.95). It had a fun contrast of textures with the rice being crispy outside and soft inside. However, the salmon topping tasted plain and very mayo-forward; I would've liked a little more spice. We'd come back to Tenkaippin, if we were in the area and craving this special kind of ramen.

Slurp history in every bite Tenkaippin Little Tokyo just dropped its first-ever U.S. location and it's bringing 55 years of kotteri culture straight from Japan "Kotteri" = thick, rich, deeply flavorful... and trust, they MEAN it. This broth isn't just ramen--it's a whole identity. Founded by Tsutomu Kimura in 1971 from a humble Kyoto yatai, this cult-favorite now has 200+ locations across Japan... and LA just got the most aesthetic one in the world Think imported wood interiors, Kyoto-inspired chandelier, fusuma sliding doors, and tiles straight from Japan--every detail feels like a Tokyo night tucked into Little Tokyo Must try: Cocktails + mocktails crafted to balance that ultra-rich kotteri broth = game changer What we ordered: Kotteri Signature + Kotteri Max (next-level THICK) Spam Katsu Bomb Creamy Egg Potato Salad Sour Love + Old Fashioned If you love rich ramen, this is your spot. If you've never had kotteri... prepare to be obsessed.

Pretty busy at noon on weekend. The food cans out fairly quickly. A bit noisy to hear people talk 1. Signature with extra Chashu and seasoned egg 2. Signature with extra Chashu, chives and garlic 3. Karaage 4. Citrus breeze 5. Cactus kiss The soup was thick but didn't have a lot of flavor. The bamboo, meat and chives topping had more flavor than the soup. The karaage was fine. The drinks were okay. Not something to get again. Overall 3.5

The sea urchins one is creamy and VERY RICH. The cream sauce bend in really well with the sea urchins. But definitely not something you would order if you are on a weaker stomach. The duck udon is flavorful with plenty of meat. The soup pair perfectly with the udon as well. There was a line outside before it opened. But not too bad. They got a little eating area outside right next to the street and I saw people ate there with their dog as well. I guess that they are "kinda" dog friendly?

7/19/2026 3 1/2…read moreStars Not my first time here, but my first review on Yelp. Been awhile since I was last here. UDON KAKE It was good, but the broth was a bit salty at first. Udon noodles were good, but it was not excellent. It did have light chewy texture. BUT in comparison to Meiji Seimen, it fell short, really short! I was disappointed. BEEF BOWL It was delicious! Beef was tender and moist and loved the caramelized onion too. Rice was delicious too, not dry nor mushy. Served with pickled red ginger. A very satisfying bowl. Sat at the bar, so watched them make udon from scratch, which was nice. WAIT LIST There was a line when I got there, just as it opened. It wasn't long, but everyone wrote their name down on a wait list. There's a sheet of paper placed on the table outside. Please write your name down ASAP, as that will help in making sure that you will grab a seat. Also, the lines are disorganized too, so it's best to write down your name, so no one cuts in front of you. It is a small restaurant. Limited seats. CUSTOMER SERVICE It was okay. Everyone got in the restaurant in the order they came in. Service was quick and there were no delays in taking orders. The server came by quickly and dropped off the check as she saw that I was nearly finished with my meal. PARKING Parked at Joe's Autoparks. It was $15! I did not know until after I paid the ticket. Very difficult to find parking in this area, so not many options unless you want to walk really far, back to your car in 90 degree heat. There was another parking garage next to Joe's, but the price was the same! Would I come back again? Not sure. Given that the udon wasn't what I expected, it may be my last time here. Also, parking sucks.

Little Tokyo Ramen Crawl: Maruya Some days you just get a…read morecraving. Not a specific one, not a "I need this exact dish" kind of craving -- just a deep, nagging need for a bowl of noodles. That's the mood that pulled me into Maruya in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles. I ordered the chashu tonkotsu, the classic go-to when you want to judge a ramen shop by its bones. And the verdict? It was... fine. Not bad, not memorable -- just okay. The kind of bowl that doesn't offend you but doesn't linger in your memory either. No standout richness in the broth, no chashu slice that made me pause mid-bite. Just noodles, doing their job. This is actually the second ramen spot I've tried in Little Tokyo, and I'll admit -- I'm starting to feel a little underwhelmed by the neighborhood's ramen scene so far. For a pocket of the city with so much culinary history packed into a few blocks, I expected to be a bit more wowed by now. Two tries in, and I'm still searching for that bowl that stops me in my tracks. What did stand out, though, was the service. The staff at Maruya were genuinely warm and helpful -- attentive without hovering, quick to check in, the kind of hospitality that makes you want to root for the place even when the food doesn't quite deliver. It's the kind of detail that softens an otherwise middling meal. So, Little Tokyo ramen crawl: two down, verdict still out. The people have been great. The noodles? I'm still waiting to be impressed. On to the next bowl.

This is a review only of their happy hour specifically, not of their ramen, which I have not tried…read moreand can't speak to the quality of. I actually became aware of the existence of this restaurant *because* they had a happy hour sign out in front, advertising, among other things, $4 salmon poke "tacos" (which was definitely actually a tostada, but still), and $3 nigori sake to go with it, which sounded pretty bomb - when I passed by the sign on my way to an event at Death & Co nearby, I took note of it but wasn't interested in food. However, when I left that event, an event I thought was going to provide a lot more food than it actually did, I absolutely *was* interested in food, and remembered that the sign advertised not only a traditional happy hour (open until 6 weekdays, 2:30-5:30 Saturday/Sunday), but also the same prices during a reverse happy hour (8 to close weekdays, 9 to close on the weekend). Given it was, at that moment, just after 8 on a Wednesday, I knew exactly where I was going to get the second half of my dinner from. Funny enough, I will say, the salmon poke that drew me in, was just... good. Don't get me wrong, if I were offered them for free, I'd eat at *least* a dozen. They were quite tasty - also like 2 bites worth of food (so eating a dozen of them would not be remotely difficult to do.) Salmon poke is wonderful, but if I wanted poke, I'd go find a poke place - even $4 felt a bit pricey for the size (they're $6 when it isn't happy hour), so I'm glad I decided to also try their karaage. Their karaage is BOMB - some of the best I've had, honestly. $7 for a 4-piece order of their karaage, by contrast, feels like a very reasonable price, and $5 (during happy hour) an absolute steal. Great karaage, great sauce, super fulfilling. The happy hour on karaage would be enough of a draw by itself - but separate from that, so would the $3 happy hour on sake, including both a regular house cold sake and a nigori. As you can see from the picture, they also intentionally overpour their sake, which is not only a very pretty presentation, but also an impressive amount of sake for $3 (heck, for DTLA, a pretty impressive amount of sake even at their normal $5 price). They also have $6 happy hour shochu/sake/juice cocktails that looked pretty good, though I didn't try one. Service was great, too - sometimes you can tell a restaurant is less excited to serve someone who clearly just came in for a drink and a snack, but that was not my experience here. Verdict is, I definitely want to come back and try their ramen sometime, but I would definitely make sure to do it either before or after their prime dinner hour, to take advantage of happy hour pricing. (And I would definitely get more of that karaage as a side. I will probably also make a point to do so as a snack, subsequent to any future events I go to in the area that end around 8 on a weekday, as well, for as long as that happy hour remains such a draw, price-wise.)

Food (3/5): Pretty ok ramen! You come to Tsujita Artisan Noodle in Arts District for the Tsukemen…read more Their tsukemen is creamy with deep umami flavor. Their noodles have a bounciness and chewiness that hold the broth you dip your noodles in. I do wish the broth was hotter because the noodles are traditionally served cold. I've come here for their Naruto collaboration and to try their traditional ramen where their noodles come with the broth and it tastes significantly different than their tsukemen which I didn't have a liking to. It was missing some oomph that not only differentiates this ramen from others I've tasted before but also gets people to keep coming. Service (5/5): Quick service! Every time I've been there hasn't been a wait. Price (4/5): To compensate for taste I do think the price needs to be lowered a bit. The tsukemen to me was definitely worth it. Ambiance (4/5): Cute little modern shop. It won't fit many big parties but it is perfect for duos.
