We had a great time at the Moonshine tasting. We were greeted by a very friendly and personable host. Four out of the six of us decided to do the tasting three did the VIP and I did just the regular tasting. The gentleman behind the bar guiding us through the tasting had his spiel down pat. Not sure I enjoyed all of his commentary, but he kept the mood fun and light. The moonshine was good except I was not a fan of the jalapeño cornbread, but I knew that going in and still did it. Host was good. Good info and suggestions and a few jokes. Moonshine 8-$5 Bourbon 6-$5 (1 bourbon and 5 flavored if I remember) Vip - all 14 above for $8. Probably best deal but given the thimble sized servings, its probably about 2-2.5 shots tips. I was impressed their flavored bourbon were still at 80 proof. Whiskey needs to be 80 proof then most flavors dilute that down when they add the flavor. So I was impressed they started with higher proof and didnt dilute to 80. This, to me, would show they favor quality rather than milking every last penny of profit. Kudos for this. Hope it never changes. Flavors. Experience. All was good but not outstanding. We had a better time at snktohert tasting venue amd felt like we got a little better bang for our buck there. Had we done VIP, I may have felt different. This place is not really kid friendly. They had 1 chair and a few shopping carts that entertained some little ones. But it would be easy to either not be fully present in the tasting or be distracted for a second too long and they get into some trouble. Please read to understand why. Went for a tasting and our "mixologist " Tam as she described herself was incredibly rude to not only us but other tasters. She made the experience awful. Disrespectful to my wife and other guests. If I got her again I would walk out. The moonshine was incredible and I have been here before and loved it! It's just another moonshine venue in a long road of them. Building looks nice from the outside and is nice enough inside but it's a lesser version of the ones down the street. The liquor is good but my tastebuds couldn't really tell the difference between theirs and everyone else's. One thing they do that earned them an extra star from me was the infused fruit. read more

Did the $5 moonshine tasting which included 8 moonshine samples and 2 slushee samples. This moonshine tasting experience felt truly unique compared to other tastings I had on the same strip. Our bartender Bill did an amazing job engaging the audience and picking up on the vibe quickly. Someone asked for the strongest moonshine and boy did he give to us. That moonshine was STRONG. It definitely was not my choice of drink at all but the other drinks he served were so delicious- especially the Bloody Mary sample topped with lime moonshine and the jalapeño moonshine. I asked him if he had spicy pickles too once the tasting experience was over and he had allowed us to sample it still! The guy who runs the tasting is actually gross. He made distasteful jokes re: his (and me and my friend's) body parts and what the body parts produce (not joking) and was completely unpleasant. This wasn't due to a lacking a sense of humor on my part; it was due to a clear lack of boundaries or professionalism on his. Between this and the moonshine, there were no redeeming qualities. I would have reported this place had my friends not held me back. Would absolutely not recommend. And not that good tasting moonshine would change my opinion. Vom. It. Trust me. God bless Wild Bill! The best bartender I've ever met. Very interactive and sociable. He could have charged $20 for the tasting and I would have paid. They have some STRONG stuff. I believe the highest proof they had, which of the places I went to while in Gatlinburg, and I went to a lot, was 160 proof. First off, I went in to get the coconut rum, since I had enjoyed it multiple times with friends. However, I've never had a positive interaction with the staff. One gentleman at the front argued with me on three separate occasions: 1. Two of us wanted to try the $8 samples each. He insisted it was $16 total, rather than $8 per person. I had to explain that both were technically correct--it just depends on how you phrase it. He didn't take the time to understand, we ended up going with the $5 option instead. 2. I mentioned that I wanted the whiskey because I didn't like their moonshine. He disagreed and claimed I had never tried it, which was incorrect. 3. The lady at the far-right tasting station was extremely cold--borderline rude--to my daughter. I get the joke you're trying to be funny carry on the conversations. Visiting Tennessee Shine was the highlight of my day. We opted for both the moonshine and bourbon tastings ($10 total per person). We stopped in during a late Saturday afternoon and were able to get in on a tasting within ten minutes of arriving. Compared to the other distilleries, the setting was intimate and low-key. The tasting included at least 12+ options. The menu rotates. I absolutely loved the Bloody Mary moonshine with a splash of pickle. Our bartender had a sparkling personality and had a lot of fun with us. After the tasting, we also got the chance to try anything we wanted that wasn't included in the tasting. We ended up buying a bottle of the s'mores whiskey. Our bartender put a splash of sweet cream in it and we just loved it. Even though they are at the far end of the strip, we felt good about the decision to walk all the way over there and include them in our epic day of moonshine tasting. read more

I usually stop at all locations, but in August all locations serving moonshine charged $5 for the moonshine tastings and $8 for VIP tastings. I always taste as we are coming into Sevierville, but I will opt out of doing my tastings as I have done every trip in in the past. It seems they are more worried about collecting the fee, then letting the product and tasting experience sell itself. Granted if you buy something you can use your band as a $5 credit, but you can only stack 2 bands and the bands are only good for 30 days, as they date them. Disappointed, will move on to the other shine places that seem to value their customers experience better. read more

My Wife and I did the moonshine tasting. The inside was nicely decorated and they did have a variety of moonshine. Aside from that I wouldn't waste the time and energy stopping in this place again. The guy doing the tasting was more concerned trying to get in to the pants of the girls who I believe were 30+ years younger than him. Our tasting took about 35-40 minutes to taste 8 moonshines. The service is slow, attitude of the shiner is rude and uncaring, and if you don't almost yell what you want, you will get neglected. None of the shines are anything to write home about, which sucks because Doc Collier's was a fun tasting before it closed. Also, compared to all the other tastings, they are very stingy with their pours. I try not to leave negative reviews, but this was our second attempt at this place over a year apart and the experience was just as bad this second time. I'm not sure how they get good reviews. We will never visit here again...first our taster made us feel like we were an inconvenience (mind you we were the only ones at the bar) but this wasn't the worst part. During our tasting I expressed that I would only like a small pour of a flavor (this was the practice at every other place we tasted at) our taster then said to me "You don't have to drink it all this isn't moonshine r*pe." With its fun, tasty, and inventive flavors this distillery is one of the most interesting places in Gatlinburg. Unfortunately the tasting room is one of the most inconsistent places in the area that we found. The tasting room charges you $5 to sample moonshine but then rushes you through the process. Depending on the host sometimes you might only try 6 flavors while another will give you 10+. Also despite having so many unique flavors you are not really able try even half, and good luck trying to try something specific when it is busy... The end result is that you will likely not have had a chance to try the thing you would be interested in buying. Coupled with the hefty sticker price means buying a bottle can be a real gamble. If this was a free tasting or if the staff slowed down and let you select what you wanted to try this could be one of the best places in the area. In the end the creamy moonshines were good enough to redeem some of the chaos of the tasting experience. read more
