I never realized this place had so many locations but this one is the only one I've been to and I havent been dissatisfied yet. Boston doesnt have a lot of cheap or authentic mexican food so finding tenoch has been an absolute delight. Staff is nice and gives recommendations on the items offereed. Their tortas, which are basically sandwiches that run around 8-10 dollars, are massive and stuffed with meat, cheese and other toppings that's complement each other very well. I got the tenoch Torta the first time and thr carnita one the next. Both great with bursts of flavor with each bite. I'm definitely coming back to try their other dishes as well as the other meats that they offer. If you're ever craving a cheap and delicious meal, make sure tenoch is on your list. read more

Oh dear this place is too good. As I'm writing this review I'm starting to salivate. We ordered tortas and guac and chips and walked down to CC Park for a little date night, and it was everything that we needed to get away from our COVID work/live/eat/sleep space. I had never had a torta before, and it was an explosion of flavor and deliciousness. The staff was great too - the guy working at the front had just settled in Boston from Mexico and he chatted about what he was studying in college and how he was finding Boston. Update: tortas are the thing to order here, and they're great. (Much better than the tacos and burritos here.) Great price, lots of meat and lots of flavor. The campechana is a favorite. I would come back here and get a torta for sure, and hope that it was as good as what I had today. The staff are nice, the place is clean and cute inside, has a great location near the waterfront and Christopher Columbus Park, North End Park, Faneuil Hall, etc. Tourists will need to walk a bit off the beaten path so locals will rejoice with shorter lines. Visited my friend who lives in the North End recently and he suggested we try this place for dinner. We wandered over and he ordered a Torta Campechana (Telera bread, carnitas, chorizo, chipotle mayo, beans, onions, tomatoes, avocado, Oaxaca cheese) for each of us - avocado on the side for mine, as I'm not a huge fan avocado. All in all, pretty delicious...though perhaps a bit greasy. I can imagine this being the kind of location I would hit up with friends after watching a game at a local bar/pub, ya know... once I find myself craving something to eat after the game has ended. My friend did mention that the bread is usually a bit more toasty, but I wasn't bothered too much by the softer bread. They were trying to close up the place not too long after my friend and I arrived, so perhaps they were in a bit of a rush to get us our order? Hard to tell. (Though they did lock the doors for the restaurant with us still inside...so hmm. Hope nobody tried to come in for dinner after we let ourselves out of the place!) The space is great though. As others have said, it's pretty minimalist... but that's part of the charm. We did pass a table that was kind of grossly covered in onion and tomato pieces (seriously, people? Is it really that hard to clean up after yourselves?), but the place was generally very clean. TL;DR Enjoyed my torta, and would go back again. Maybe a bit earlier though? I'd eat here everyday if I could. The first time I've tried Tenoch was at their food truck, before that I didn't even know there were such thing as Mexican sandwich (Torta). Tenoch was recommended to me by multiple latino friends, some who grew up in California, so I knew it had to be good authentic Mexican food. It was the best Mexican food I've had in Boston. After that experience, I finally went to the restaurant in the North End. Their torta is amazing. It's life changing. I've had the Torta campachana and Torta carne asada so far and I plan on trying every torta on the menu eventually. The sandwiches are so flavorful and packed with fillings. AND the portion is huge! Last time I went, I also tried their lamb taco and horchata. The lamb taco had lamb meat that's so tender that it'll melt in your mouth. Make sure to get horchata on the side of your order to wash down all the food, it's delicious. read more

This is a decent Mexican fast food place by Boston standards (which are very low). It just opened up in the north end but has another location in Medford. I'll start with the good, then move to the bad and then the unedible. They do however serve large portions. It is a deal for the price. The verde enchiladas with vegetable filling were very good. I would eat them again especially for 7.95. The chicken tacos were better than those you get at chipotle. They were authentic corn tacos loaded with onion and cilantro with a sweeter orange sauce. For the price not too bad. The pollo plate was nothing special. The chicken was dry and covered in that sweet orange sauce. The rice and beans included with the plates and enchiladas were not even edible. The beans had a sweet taste and clearly came from a can. I ate two bites and that was all I could take and my standards are not super high. I eat Goya black beans all the time and they are fine. The rice was terrible. It was a buttery pilaf, not Spanish rice. It did not pair well with Mexican food. I could not even eat it. Consequently, the low prices aren't so low when you can't eat the rice and beans and you have to order a taco to fill you. Overall this place is okay because it is in Boston and people need cheap options outside of Chipotle. You just need to be careful with what you order. read more

Truly great food! Their tortas in particular are fantastic (and massive); I highly recommend the Torta Asada or the Torta Carnitas. Pretty much all of their meats are very well seasoned and cooked. An odd thing to call out, but they are also particularly good at rolling burritos - consistently tight and they hold well. The Tenoch food truck is a great addition to Dewey Square. On a hot day I waited about 20 min in line for the Pollo Torta and it was well worth it. It was such a filling meal - the chicken was juicy and plentiful and melded great with the chipotle mayo and fresh veg and cheese. The telera bread was soft and thin - not too heavy but durable enough to hold all of the ingredients inside. They do not skimp on the portions and are quick to serve you once you make your way to the window. Note they are CASH ONLY. They have a funny system where they have a register on the window and it's based on the honor system where you get your own change. Good to know they're not touching germy money while making our food! read more

I grew up in Los Angeles, so you can't hand me sub-par tacos and expect me to be okay with it. I ordered the Carne Asada, Pastor, and Fish tacos. Plus their Guacamole and chips. What can I say? When you have those taco cravings, you gotta do your best to quell them. The Carne Asada tacos were mediocre. The meat was an acceptable balance between tender and chewy, and the flavor was pretty decent. The Asada was horrendous!! The texture was akin to dry chicken breast and even the dash of pineapple pieces weren't enough to redeem the lackluster meat. The recommended fish tacos were such a flop. The fish itself was dry and overcooked, and there wasn't anything about the flavor that was worthy of a second bite. The slightly redeeming factor was the guac. Despite the small portions, it was at least fresh and chunky. But ugh! The accompanying fries were stale!!! Overall, it was a meal that left me dissatisfied and disheartened. read more

(This review is for the food truck / trailer) Tenoch has some solid tortas. Juicy meat mixed with tomatoes, cheese, pickled onions, avocado, and beans in a pocket of telera bread. Telera bread is a savory offshoot of a baguette, but softer, shorter, and wider. A chipotle mayo is spread on the bread, providing an excellent, slightly spicy base. It's filled with a ton of juicy, seasoned meat (my favorite is the campenchana: chorizo and carnitas.) Pickled onions provide a sharp, contracting vinegar tang against the savory meat and bread. The tomatoes and sprinkling of cheese cool down the spice and add a creamy, cool texture. All of this for only $7, which is rather cheap for lunch in Downtown Boston. It's a great torta, but I have one complaint: the bread can get soggy. Even after a five minute walk back to my office, the bottom half of the sandwich is often soggy, disintegrating bread. There's a truck, and a trailer. The trailer looks a little hokey, but the long line you'll find in front of it should be enough to know that the food coming out of it is delicious. The trailer is cash-only, and you make your own change which is a little weird, but it's no big deal. read more

They saw me leaving and turned their back to me like if I wasn't a paying customer. I'm so surprised by this because I usually get great quick service.
