Birria burrito

I was so happy I decided to get lunch here, the food was so filling and affordable. The staff was so nice and the food was very very delicious. I will forever recommend the birria burrito with everything on it and horchata!

Torta Carne Asada

Clean girl aesthetic meets Mexican street food. I'm not going to waste my time telling you how good their tortas are, you are just going to have to go try them for yourself.

I regret avoiding Tenoch, because I have some high standards for Mexican food. Like why did I do that to myself? My friends love Tenoch's tortas and I see why, even though I'm not a torta fan. The bread is perfect - just ever so slightly crispy and not like you're biting into a cracker. The filling is hefty and flavorful and I was left feeling so full. However. I am a taco stan. And their tacos are CHEFS KISS. They're one of the best places in Boston. Every taco is fully loaded, the meats are flavorful, and I haven't had a dry one yet. Whenever the horchata is available , GET IT. It's also one of the best one I've had here. Not overwhelming sweet and nicely cinnamon-y!

Enchiladas Mole

What looks at first sight like a Chipotle knock-off offers much more than any chain ever could, doing so in an approachable and unpretentious manner. I've eaten a LOT of Mexican food in my life. I grew up on Taco Bell (gross, huh?), and eventually graduated from TexMex like ChiChi's and eventually your favorite local place that charges $9 for a 3# plate of food. Then my parents retired to Arizona where I first got a taste of AUTHENTIC Mexican food... and Tenoch took me back to the moment I realized just how GOOD Mexican food can be... when not ruined by us Americans. It doesn't matter what you want... tacos? Got 'em. Enchiladas? The best I've had in Boston in the 3+ years I've lived here. Tortas? Never had 'em, but people rave about them (I'll get to this later). Chips n' guac/salsa? Homemade and as good as they look/smell. Tenoch delivers the goods on a price point that undercuts the major players in the market (Chipotle, Anna's, etc.) and ooze value while delivering better tasting food. While they are universally known for their tortas (essentially cheese-stuffed paninis with meats and other toppings), I went with the enchiladas mole. Mole is one of those things that is either amazing, or cheaply done and nasty. There is no middle-of-the-road mole, and Tenoch is damn near the top - even when compared to the mole I've had in Arizona and Mexico. My wife had the tacos and they were fantastic. It's not a fancy place, it's not your bloated American chain, and it's NOT bland. You get better food at a cheaper price while supporting a small, local business. It's literally around the corner from us and we will become regulars. If you like authentic Mexican food, Tenoch is a MUST try.

Taco Carnitas & Sangria

Just needed a quick snack. Wished I'd had more room because I wanted every taco on the menu. Settled on carnitas & sangria at an outside table.

Fantastic quality, amazing taste, kind service. What more can you ask for? I've only been here once before, but Tenoch never fails to disappoint. We came here for an early Wednesday dinner and were the only ones in the store upon ordering, but once we sat down the line really picked up. It seems like most people order takeout and don't eat in the storefront, but that might be a side effect of COVID and extra safety precautions. We were given our food pretty quickly upon ordering and you pick it up at the counter when dining in so it's not table service. You also can get some water from the front as they have a pitcher and some cups. Nonetheless, the space is friendly and casual and has a very chill ambiance. The quality and quantity of the food for its price is truly a steal. The torta is very filling and the chips and guac were made to perfection - wouldn't change a thing. I loved the bread the torta came on and how it was toasted to a wonderful crispy texture. If you're ever in the Davis area and want quality Mexican food, this is the spot to go to. Can't wait to go back and try their other dishes!

Chicken Burrito
Nino E.

Out of the other Mexican taquerias in Davis Square, this is the best one Ive tried. I had the chicken burrito and taco de suadero. The chicken burrito was close to what I was looking for - good size, not too salty, includes all the textures. I wish that it was a little bit spicier because the side salsa we received did not have a kick. I would skip on the tacos, unless you are fine with tortilla that looks like its just from the grocery store. The meat however tasted great. I just wish that the sauce enhance it a little better. As for the service, I was standing in front of the cook for at least 5 minutes not knowing where to take the order. I hope they at least acknowledged me! But when they did take my order, they were kind and serviceable. I definitely like the decor in the walls and ceilings. Great location to chill and enjoy the ambiance. Overall this would have to be my go-to spot for burritos, and I will still be on a mission to find a spot for tacos.

Greasy Burrito

Pretty good food, but the employees have really bad attitudes. I want to enjoy the food, but it's always soaking in grease from the meat. They don't drain it even after I asked them not to. The place is a little small and mostly clean. Please do better so I can come back

Tostada with pork

I really enjoyed the tostada, loaded with shredded pork. It hit the spot on a very cold night. Tenoch has a great menu, fast and friendly service, clean tables and very good value.

The thing to get at Tenoch is the TORTA, aka Mexican sandwich of the gods. The soft bread perfectly absorbs the meaty juices and houses the white, stringy cheese. Each bite is bliss. Tenoch tacos are also solid and pretty affordable (for Boston). I especially enjoy the lamb one since you don't often see that option. The meat is tasty, and the toppings and tortilla taste fresh. Don't miss out on a geography - err tacography - lesson by checking out the map on the wall! It depicts where different tacos are from in Mexico. Now I just need to try them all!

Chorizo and lamb tacos

Can I live here? This is one of those establishments that cooks quality delicious Mexican food and charges quality prices. We came here on a sunny day later in the afternoon for lunch. There wasn't much of a crowd which was wonderful because Tenoch can get very crowded around typical meal hours. We ordered: 1.) Chorizo Taco 2.) Lamb Taco 3.) Chicken Quesadilla Both were delicious. I loaded my chicken quesadilla up too much so it ended up being more of a burrito which I was pretty happy about. Definitely come here if you love Mexican food and want an inexpensive and tasty bite to eat. Please note that this location does not serve breakfast despite the sign saying they do on their front glass door.

Al Pastor Salad

After seeing all the perfect scores of this place, I just had to try it out and it did not disappoint. I walked by this place the other night when we decided to eat excellent Greek food that's just right next door. This review will be short and to the point: The meats here are awesome. I got the salad and picked al pastor as the meat and it did not disappoint. The salad was huge and was extremely filling, but on top of that I also ordered the tacos which were amazing out right by itself. I came out stuffed. This place is a small take out spot, but by all means there's plenty of seatings for those who eat their meals fast or just want to eat it there. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a quick take out spot or something quick to eat. Tenoch will quench your craving for Mexican food. The burritos here are pretty massive as well, and if you decide to get that I would suggest that's all you get.

Torta Tenoch not too pretty but it tastes pretty good!
James Z.

Many of my friends from around Somerville and Cambridge speak very highly of Tenoch, even fondly when they've moved away from Davis/Porter. I'd have to say, more times than not I've been disappointed by when I've had at Tenoch. The good: The Torta are very good! Big sandwich that is very filling, and they have a ton of different filling options. If you're going to Tenoch, try a Torta! The not so good: The tacos at Tenoch are mediocre, sorrynotsorry. Small, bland, chewy tortilla... I've had them a few times and every time I've wished I had ordered something different. The Huarache wasn't anything to write home about either. It was a good helping of food but the flavors just weren't great. Maybe their carnitas are the filling to go with? I haven't had anything else from Tenoch but the Torta will probably be my go-to for now since they are close to my apartment. Their service is pretty fast and it isn't too expensive. Just really not a fan of their tacos.

We came around 6pm on a weekday and it was completely empty…read more We came here because we saw tik tok videos of how fun, busy, and vibrant this place was but I think we just came at the wrong time and wrong day. The business is sort of in a house? It was small and kind of dark inside. It was definitely an interesting experience,,, The appetizer was reallyyy good, I forgot the name though... The mole however, was not very good. The mole was liquidy and the chicken was dry. Overall, I think this place is more for fun busy nights where you just drink and apps. I'd like to come again when its busier and we aren't the only customers.

We started off with two drinks- a frozen mangonada and this passion fruit drink. They were both solid but I liked the mangonada better because the passion fruit cocktail had too much pulp in it! For food, we started off with chips and guac. This guac was some of the best I've had. It was super fresh and you could tell exactly what ingredients they used. We also their pork ribs! The ribs fell off the bone and I loved the warm sauce except it was a tiny bit dry. The sauce was reminiscent of an umami bbq sauce. We decided to try their zucchini dish, as recommended by the manager! I don't love zucchini usually but I liked it. It was roasted with cheese, sauces, and some shrimp. Very creative, Lastly we got the tuna ceviche of the day. I didn't really like this because it was really heavy on the dill. I think it would've been good without it. However the presentation was gorgeous and it came with plantains. Overall the vibes are superb here for a date, girls night, or whatever!!

We ordered the following: - fish tacos (3) - flavor wise this fell flat for me. No punch of seasoning to the fish personally. - Birria tacos combo - fire combo. I just love birria style tacos. Highlight for me hot and well cooked beef, tender. - Birria chimichanga (2) this is hefty, i thought this was a good chimichanga, i would probably ask for extra sauce next go around, it got a bit dry without it. - carne asada enchiladas, the lady enjoyed this, carne was moist and tender. - pork belly & yuca loved the pork belly originally thought it was more like a chicharron dish but enjoyed this style , the yuca wasn't my jam. - tajin elote (2) love tajin elotes so no complaints! - churro espresso Great spot, great service.

Plus they had other options, including tostadas, bowls, tamales, burritos, you name it. When we arrived, there were people inside eating. We stopped to look at the menu before ordering, and were greeted by a very friendly man who made the experience more enjoyable. I ordered a tostada with steak, onions, cilantro, a little sour cream, green verde sauce, lettuce, and refried beans. It was my first time trying one so so was really excited. I also ordered two cheese pupusas, which I ended up taking to go with me. My boyfriend ordered a bowl with chicken and various toppings. My tostada was delicious. The crunchy tortilla paired with fresh steak and all the juices from the onion and cilantro paired so nicely together. The ingredients seemed very fresh. We were gonna take this to go, but we decided to dine in. The same gentleman ended up checking in on us half way through the meal to see how we were doing. I thought this was really nice. His name is Chef Noe and he was telling us that he is the head chef for this restaurant. He was glad we enjoyed our meal and it was a pleasure talking to him. Overall I think the spot is well placed as it is right near Leslie university in Harvard so I think it's a good spot for students to come or if you're local like us. It's quick but it has quality. Its fast food but it's fresh. That's what I liked about it. It's all prepared in house and the flavors are great. The decor is also cute inside, very colorful and I thought it was creative that they up-cycled Jarittos bottles into flower vases. I really need to remember to look online before choosing my order in the future (or so I thought). While the tacos still look incredible (especially the birria ones), the torta was surprisingly great as well. The sandwich is jam packed with ingredients and really well balanced. The beef was juicy and tender, and the veggies added a really nice balance of spice (jalapenos), freshness (onions, lettuce, and tomatoes), and richness (cheese and avocadoes). The refried beans were a pleasant surprise as well, adding really good moisture and flavor to the overall bite. And including avocado on the torta for no extra cost really is what put this above and beyond to a 5/5 - the avocado was ripe and had just the right amount of it to add that rich and fatty element without being too slippery and making it hard to eat. The fries, on the other hand, were a bit soggy and thick for my liking. I had seen another photo on Yelp where they looked a lot crispier and were shaped differently, so not sure if I just got unlucky, but the sandwich more than made up for the fries in this case. I really can't say enough positive things about the torta. And even though the torta was fantastic and I gave it a 5/5, I definitely want to come back for those tacos. Three tacos plus rice for $18 is a pretty great deal, and the tacos really look incredible. My partner ordered a tongue, al pastor, and fish taco and while I didn't try them, they looked and smelled incredible. We will definitely be back!
