I was here for a birthday event and not only did we receive terrible service from the female bartender that night but I also happened to witness her aggressiveness as she jumped over the bar stand just to abruptly yell at someone. Could have sworn that the bartender was trying to get physically aggressive. Luckily she was tamed down, and yes, this was the bartender that was working there...Bartender was rude, place was very small, and they kicked out the people earlier than they had agreed upon. Moral of the review here is that if you are trying to book an event here, don't do it. There are plenty of bars around the city that offer a friendly staff of bartenders and comply with their times they give. Small narrow bar, would not suggest bringing a lot of people here for special occasions. read more

Had a really lackluster experience here at Tequila Mockingbird. I'm assuming it's more of an after-work bar and hoping that explains why the service here was so terrible, but in short, we got here around 10pm at night and it really wasn't that crowded! But for some reason, even after sitting at the bar, it took the bartender over 20 minutes to take our order. Which is a bit long, but maybe okay if other people ordered like a lot of drinks which I wasn't paying attention to (all I know is that the bar definitely was not full by any means). But get this. After we give the bartender our order, he forgets it and has to come back and ask us again for our order. And I'm just like damn you really just give no fux lmao. Anyway I almost thought he was gonna be nice about it and give us a free drink but noooope no apology no nothing. Drinks were decent though! It's okay lol. It was just a bit disappointing overall when you're trying to spend money and buy drinks and then only get one drink in the whole 45min-1 hour you're here. Bar #2 of 3 on a Friday night out. We stopped here maybe around 10 or 11ish. It was strangely dead. Just a few yuppy-ish types hanging around, but headed out. I like the decor, a weird door that either leads to nowhere or Narnia. The lanterns were cute. They also had a cute sign outside and giant star lights. The bartender was running the place by herself, gotta give her props. The music playing was also great. But if you are looking for a spot that will hype up your night, this isn't it. We had our company holiday party here and they did a fantastic job with our event! We rented out the entire place for a few hours and the venue was the perfect size for our party of 50. Could even probably fit closer to 80 or 100 in here and still be comfortable. Working with Eric was a breeze. He was super helpful with any questions I had and was very prompt with responses. The price was also very reasonable when comparing to other venues in the city. They also allowed us to bring in catering from any restaurant I wanted. They even gave me a few suggestions but I ended up choosing my own caterer. The bartenders were great and the doorman was sure to tell everyone that they were closed for our private event. 1 hour prior to my boyfriend's 30th, we decided to stop in for a quick birthday shot. We were immediately drawn in by the music selection and ended up staying for a few cocktails. We received a warm welcome from Mitch and Karissa and they made our experience more than we could have ever imagined. We had the most genuine interaction we've had during our return to our home town (after a 12 year absence) and have made this location a definite place of check in everytime we visit San Francisco. DONT GO HERE!!! BARTENDER WAS EXTREMELY RUDE. His girlfriend was at the bar drunk at 5pm (probably drinking for free) and starting arguments with us... here's the story. We decided our first stop for a work happy hour would be here on 2/13/20. We walk in and ordered drinks. I ask for a shot of don julio 1942, the bartender says "it's $50" I was like "oh damn, that's like the cost of the bottle... ok uhm, I'll take the house sangria instead" the bartender says "yea it's a bar not a liquor store" his girlfriend "don't prosecute the messenger! He just works here you can complain to the OWNER about price" in a bitchy tone... wow no one complaining, thanks for the price check, now I'll just order something else... the bartender hands me the sangria and says "it's on the house, YOU LOOK LIKE YOU COULD SAVE SOME MONEY" ... wow... I turn around the his girlfriend says "what a dick bag" ... now I'm offended and turn around and say it back to her... the bartenders drunk girlfriend continues to slur insults at me as her boyfriend bartender backs her up. And I just redirect all their energy back at them. He asked me to leave which I GLADLY did and took all my coworkers with me. He was completely out of line and shouldn't encourage his girlfriend to get wasted at his bar and insult customers??? I literally can't believe it. I pray that the owner sees this review and fires that dude. Such a cool little tucked-away bar in SoMa!! I came here for a birthday event where we had to pay a minimum to have the whole joint. I work in SoMa and didn't even know this place existed until my friends' birthday was scheduled. They have a downstairs with a lounge, a bar, and a small space upstairs. The whole place would probably fit 50 people comfortably. As the name states, this place has so much tequila. There's a scroll looking hanging on the wall with all their tequila and prices. They also had a handful of cocktails with tequila in it, and they were tasty! I'm considering using this place for a work event! Will be back! read more

I came here for a post-work drink and was blown away by the tequila old fashioned ($12) It was the perfect drink for a tequila and whiskey drinker such as myself. I got my tequila fix in a smooth and potent drink that reminded me of an old fashioned every sip of the way. The bar wasn't too loud or crowded. It was just right. This is a cute little place with themed tequila cocktails. It is not equipped to handle big groups at all, there is pretty much the bar area and then a small corner of the place has an oversized couch. I think they might have another part of the bar but it wasn't opened when I went and the bar was super crowded. We finally were able to order a drink at the bar and we asked the bartender what tequila was used as the well since we were ordering one if their house cocktails. The bartender was really non-responsive and just kept repeating that it was tequila. Uh yeah, we know it is a tequila based cocktail but what brand. She didn't know and she didn't offer to find out, she just rolled her eyes and we just asked for cazadores to be used in our cocktails. The cocktail was good but after that drink we left because we didn't want to deal with a rude bartender again. I don't think I'll ever go back due to this first experience. They are getting 3 stars because the cocktail was actually good, the service was just horrible. read more

HAVE YOUR PRIVATE PARTY AT THIS BAR! Seriously. I had my 30th birthday at this bar, and it was an amazing experience. Hollie Machado is a wonderful, helpful, and kind woman. I got in touch with her around three months before the date of the party, and she helped me plan the perfect evening. Every question that I had, Hollie was able to answer very quickly, and the email thread is about 36 emails long. Hollie was patient with my requests, and I found the whole process easy. I had around 80 people attend my party at Tequila Mockingbird. I had hired a catering company to supply the food, and I also ordered cupcakes to be delivered to the venue. Hollie was able to accept the cupcake delivery for me (as I was not going to be able to be at the bar at that time), which I thought was very kind of her. We were able to control the music and used the very end of the bar to DJ, the speakers were great even with the amount of noise from people talking. The bathrooms were clean the entire night. There is a cute upstairs section, totally Instagram-worthy, with a private booth to sit at. There is also seating by the door, seating in the back, and of course large comfy bar stools along the bar. Hollie allowed us to decorate with our own decorations, which really gave it a nice touch, though many people I spoke with thought that the bar was aesthetically pleasing as-is. Hollie was able to serve a personalized drink that I wanted to have, and everyone who had one thought it was delicious. In fact, all of the feedback for the drinks was great. There are a lot of beers on tap available, and a huge variation of spirits (It's not just tequila). We had a woman at the door, who was only letting people in who knew my password, and she was awesome, also very nice. On several occasions, I saw her turn people away who I didn't know, and who did not know my password to enter the bar. Overall, my experience was stellar. Hollie staffed the bar very well, and no one had any complaints about waiting for a drink or not being helped. Everyone thought that Hollie and her team were kind, fast, efficient, and helpful. I hope to have another event here at some point. I highly recommend this bar. Big thanks to Hollie and her team for helping me have the perfect milestone birthday. read more

This place is great, it was recommended to us by a bartender at nearby Natoma Cabana (YOU SHOULD GO THERE, Aaron is great!!) On quieter nights, usually any night after the happy hour crowd has headed home you can belly on up to the bar and grab a beer. What an awesome venue to have your private event! My fiancé and I had our engagement party here and everything from start to finish was perfect! Hollie, the event coordinator was super responsive to any questions I had, even up to the day of offering help and providing suggestions for my out of town guests to park. We were able to bring in our own food/DJ and the space provided the right casual ambiance to have our guest feel comfortable to party all night. Our bouncer at the door made sure everyone was safe, and politely denied any guests who weren't on our list.The bar staff was attentive and never stressing us for anything, always making sure our drinks were full. She constantly taunted my two djs while they were trying to dj. I was expecting to have a wonderful birthday party but ended with all the drama this bartender caused. She was ignoring customers, taking forever to make drinks, was rude to the DJs and was overall standoffish to everyone. I work in the service industry and I understand that overwhelming feeling of a rush, but if you are kind and explaining things to guests i.e. we are understaffed, things are taking a little longer than. expected, etc. people react with kindness and are understanding. I wanted to love this place. We rented it out for a private event this past weekend. The nigh started out good, the decor was nice and it's a nice place for a private party, but the service was HORRIBLE ! The Bartenders were extremely rude, were ignoring guest and refusing to make them drinks. The female bartender was extremely rude, she was making mean comments to all the guest which made all the guest uncomfortable. She decided to stop serving drinks way before the night was over. All the workers seemed as if they didn't want to be there and definitely made it known. They decided to stop serving 30 minutes before the time we rented out till. My office is right across the street from this cool little bar, and we've been here a few times ever since moving in. The cocktails are pretty standard but have cool names with literature puns and the drinks themselves are decently strong. Not cheap, high quality drinks in a relaxed atmosphere. Come here if you like the taste of liquor not cheap booze hidden by mixers. The well bourbon is Buffalo Trace, looks like they have more than 10 different mezcals. They carry St. George gin and other liqueurs (made in Alameda and some of the best stuff out there).
