This place is fantastic. The staff is friendly, prices are reasonable, and plenty of seating, even if you have a large group. I recommend the fish tacos with mango salsa, the pollo loco, and the choriqueso. The regular sized margaritas are huge, so be prepared! We have several friends who are vegetarians and they love this place too. read more

Just ate here and had a great time. Margaritas start at $4 every day and the food was less than $10 in most cases. Service was a little rough as there were only 2 servers for the whole place on a Sat night but they got it done. I got the Molcajete and it was AMAZING and only 12.99. I left stuffed. My husband and I arrived at Tequilaville at 6 p.m. on Friday. I walked in while he parked the car. I walked into a PACKED lobby with no host or hostess. I looked around for someone to help me. And finally made my way to the bar where I asked a man, who never made eye contact with me, how do I put my name in for a table? He pointed to a piece of paper and told me to write my name on it. WOW! TALK ABOUT LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! I asked if I could order a drink while waiting and he said "yes, but it will be a while, I am busy!" Wow. My husband and I left and ended up at Red Oak Pub, to a packed lobby, Yes there was a Host stand, we were politely greeted and told how long our wait would be. Parking is mostly around back. The outside area is poorly maintained. Inside there is a short stairway. There are three TVs tuned to three different stations. We went all the way to the back to be as far from the three competing TVs as possible. The south of the border music was good. The decor is random, the chairs are comfortable. The salsa, even with lots of hot sauce added, was very runny and not good, the tortilla chips were warm and fresh. Our indifferent server was unenthusiastically just doing his job. He took our order, brought the beverages, warned us that the plates were hot, refilled the beverages, brought the bill, brought the change. We descended the stairs, walked through the dirty parking lot and drove away wondering if we would ever return. The food was very good and the prices are excellent. The food almost made up for not being a valued customer on a lovely Friday afternoon on the western edge of Newark, Ohio. read more

We live in Texas so our expectation for Mexican food is high. I kept telling my mom that I have access to the best Mexican food in the country why would I try it in Ohio. Was so happy when they opened. Very clean and plenty of seating. The food is very authentic and tastes great! Chori Polo is probably my favorite. A must order is the Meat Rice Soup to go with your ships or make a meal of it if your not too hungry. I can't recommend this place enough. read more

THIS PLACE ABSOLUTELY SUCKED! My family and I walked in and they said it would be a 30 minute wait well it ended up being an hour. When we finally got our table it took 10 minuets just to get waters. Our waiter was virtually non-existent no refills on drinks or the chips and salsa.It took an hour to get our food which was mediocre at best. It would have been more convenient to drive to Mexico and get authentic better tasting Mexican food. NEVER GOING BACK! read more

The food here is great. I showed up for my very first visit here during lunch hours so not really anyone else was in there. The only other car in the lot was a health department car. Once I walked in it immediately smelt like tons of cleaning products (most likely because the health dept.) but it kind of took away from the meal when I could smell it the whole time. The service seemed a bit slow for being the only 2 people in there. The waiter was where I decided on 4 stars, he showed up to take our order, never brought out my side, then came out to give us our check. I have one very happy husband right now!!! When we found out El Maguey's closed we were devastated cause it was our ALL TIME favorite restaurant to eat at. Then a friend informed us that they moved to Newark and changed the name so of course we had to come check and make sure.....SO HAPPY!!! Best Mexican food to be found in Ohio! Tequilaville is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. They service is lightening fast and always good. The menu is very expansive. I typically get chicken nachos or the fajitas. I've never been disappointed and hope this restaurant is here to stay for a long time. The salsa and chips they give you is the best in town. Spicy and smooth salsa is perfect. Let me start by giving credit for the food it was very good. It was the loudest place I have ever eaten. It was so bad we could not carry on any conversation with the couple we were with. It was difficult to place our orders. There are products that help absorb sound. They most certainly need to look into some. Possible food poisoning! Don't eat here. My husband, daughter, son and I all felt sick after eating here. Food didn't even taste very good. Should have known something was up. I preface this review by saying that so far this could be our favorite restaurant in the Newark, OH area. I liked the fact that those working here all seem to be Mexican. The food is very good but it's not special. Still, the salsa was nice as were the chips. I started with the cameron fundido which was very good. Then came the carnitas which was good but a tad dry. We come from Arizona where the Mexican food is special so we are harsh critics. I have the feeling that if I lived in the area, we would come here once a week. Went to Tequlaville with my husband and WOW - very impressed. He had the Tequilaville Special (amazing shrimp in there), and I had the Polo Tropical. Food was absolutely amazing and the salsa had the perfect kick to it. So me and my wife traveled from North Carolina to Ohio this weekend to visit family and when we arrive we decided to stop by this restaurant for some Mexican food. We got the food to go and came home to eat it as a family. While eating my wife bite into a rock. I drove back to let the manager know so that they would be aware and ensure that they check their food. As I explained the situation to the manager, she began to laughed in my face and said that I was lying. I was frustrated at the fact that they did not take this situation soursiously. Dental bills are very expensive and so are fake teeth. This could have been a lot worse. Another manager came to speak with me and when I explain the situation to him, he said ok it's just a rock. Not only is the food dangerous to eat @ tequilaville Mexican restaurant but the managers have zero respect for their customers. Their attitude is disgusting as well as their food. read more

It was a Saturday night and it was busy, just like any other restaurant in Newark. They told us a 30 min wait, we waited for well over an hour. Our server was terrible, not personable whatsoever. Barely spoke to us, never refilled our drinks (except for when our food came out) and never checked in to see if we needed anything while we waited an hour to get our food. The chips and salsa was okay, and the food was good, not great. I've had better food at Chipotle. Not to mention there was a patron in there that had the loudest and most obnoxious laugh I've ever heard. The entire restaurant was staring at her every time she laughed. She was clearly intoxicated and the staff did nothing about it. They never offered us a discount or a free appetizer or dessert, nothing. It was beyond loud and obnoxious in there between her and the 8 drunk guys that were there for someone's 21st birthday. I understand people having a good time and the place being busy but come on. When someone is so loud that they are disrupting the ENTIRE restaurant to the point that I am shouting at my own table, the staff needs to say something. It's a restaurant, not a bar on high street. This place can not handle a crowd. By far the slowest and worst service I've ever experienced. We will never be back. read more
