I ordered a chicken burrito from Teresa's for takeout. Ate the burrito at home, and then proceeded to have an awful case of diarrhea, stomach cramps, and vomiting for the whole night. I then contacted the restaurant and very quickly they responded that all food complaints like this should be directed to the local hospital. What? No apology, no refund, nothing. I then contacted another location to see what they would say, and they also were very quick to respond that "all of these cases of food poisoning should be handled by the local hospital." I asked what they meant by "all these cases"? He didn't respond. So quick. Ordered over the phone for pickup. It was ready in minutes. Quick and friendly service. All of the meals were pretty tasty. I would just avoid the chimichanga if your hungry. Its portions size is underwhelming and it is supposed to be deep fried. Usually it should have a crispy bubbly looking appearance. The first time I went I did takeout. My wife said she'd never do that again. The second time we dined in. It was good but the vegetarian menu is confusing. You sort of have to order meat enchiladas without the meat. The margherita had no booze at all. We tried to do take out again and you can't order cheese enchiladas on line so I had to drive there to order cheese enchiladas. Freaking weird. I brought it up to the staff. They just stared at me. If I could order Teresa's every night and not gain weight I 100% would. There are so many yummy things on their menu! Thank the DoorDash heavens that Teresa's is on there and still open during this hard time! I ordered the burrito chipotle which came with rice and beans. My partner ordered the enchiladas verdes which also and with rice and beans. My burrito was absolutely amazing! The steak had a nice chipotle spice to it and the queso on top was really good. The size of the burrito was perfect as well. I was able to finish (even though I was stuffed, ha!) my boyfriends' enchiladas were also surprisingly delicious. We had a GREAT experience at Teresa's Mexican Restaurant yesterday. The location is following all of the guidelines necessary to take COVID-19 stressors off the mind of someone looking for a great Mexican dinner. The service was impeccable. Two separate servers waited on our table and were incredibly attentive. One specifically, who goes by "Chewy (sp?)", was fantastic! You could tell he really cared about the patrons he was serving and wanted to make the experience as enjoyable as possible. It was refreshing to interact with someone that brings such energy and enthusiasm to their job. Finally, the food was great. Our supply of chips and salsa was quickly replenished every time it ran low. The salsa tasted fresh and the chips were warm. My significant other ordered the chicken fajitas (her typical Mexican restaurant dish) and claims that this was the BEST she'd ever had. We used to be be regulars at the Theresa's in Golden Valley. We used to eat here at least once a week. But now it's off our list. After a couple meals that were not up to par right before the New Year, we took a break from the restaurant. Tonight, we decided to go back with the hope that things go better, but they haven't. My partner ordered Jarocho, which he liked, but he didn't get the corn tortillas he had asked for twice. I ordered the Alhambra al pastor with flour tortillas. The tortillas were the straight out of the package and not warmed on the griddle before serving with the meat. Finally, it was happy hour, and we both ordered mango margaritas. There was absolutely not alcohol in them. None! I brought this to the server's attention. Instead of checking the drink, the server informed us that the bartender assured there was booze in it, but if we wanted more, we could pay another $5 for a floater. I didn't drink mine and asked it to be removed from the bill, but the server did not take it off. It's so sad to see a neighborhood restaurant that used to be good fail so miserably on multiple occasions. We just won't be back. Looking for decent Mexican food and a good margarita? Teresa's has good Mexican food... for Minnesota. Every time I come I'm satisfied; never amazed, never disappointed- I get what I expect. The queso is very good here. They have great happy hour prices. Outside of that, the food isn't super notable. This time I had a classic margarita, a little sweet/artificial for my liking. And I tried the chimichanga sampler, it was somewhat bland. Overall, it's never somewhere I go out of my way for, but usually a good experience. read more

First dine-in experience since March, and my 2nd experience at Teresa's. As it was pretty windy outside this evening, our party of 4 opted to sit inside and enjoy our meal. From our first contact all the way through our last, I felt that the staff at Teresa's did an excellent job. To start, enjoyed a large Margarita, as well as the complimentary chips and salsa. We ordered guacamole which seamed very fresh, just like the chips. we sat an chit-chatted enjoying our beverages, and our waiter kept checking on us, and told us to just leave a menu on the end of the table to signal we were ready to order our meal. Not once did we feel pressure to hurry, and there were tables for social distancing, and when a table/group left, the staff promptly cleaned and sterilized the area. I had ordered the Ground-Beef Chonga, which came with guacamole, sour cream, as well as lettuce and tomato, topped with a cheese sauce. Because I had devoured so much chips earlier, I couldn't finish my great tasting chonga. Went with my BFF before a movie. Thought it might be good because we hear about it a lot from KDWB. Nice ambience. I ordered the 2/$9 and so did my friend. I got the Chicken Chimi and a Soft Chicken Taco. Lots of water came out of the taco as I was biting into it. The cheese on the chimi looked like white Velveeta that is semi hard because the cheese looked like it had been sitting for a while so I developed the sticky layer on top. My friend ordered the Beef Enchilada and a Hard Shell Chicken Taco. Same issue with the taco and a very not so flavorful enchilada. We shared an order of the Churros. Churros were yummy but cherries tasted off and the ice cream had some bits tasting like soap. I had to put two Altoids in my mouth just to be able to swallow because it was gross. I would not recommend this place. There is better Mexican food out there somewhere read more

My favorite Mexican joint in the cities. $2.5 horchata is the best horchata I've had. The chips are always fresh and the salsa is definitely homemade. Guacamole is also very fresh! Their signature cheese sauce is to die for. I also love the stuffed pepper (it's on their pick 2/ pick 3 menu). Chile con queso is also one of my favorites to get. Deep fried ice cream is bomb too. I am a die hard corn flakes fan and I love the corn flakes crust of the deep fried ice cream. Generous portion and amazing service. I always enjoyed coming here for dinner. read more

One of my favorite Mexican Restaurants. The Fajita for two is our go to item! Huge portion and can definitely feed more than two people. Barely made a dent after eating two tortillas each. Comes with beans, rice, guacamole, lettuce, and tomatoes for two. You can't end your meal with out some churros that's served with vanilla ice cream. Haven't had a bad meal here yet. read more

What can I say its okay nothing memorable? In fact, I don't even remember how the food tasted I know how I felt though, I felt like I spent too much money on some bland food and some water down hot-sauce. They do give you a good portion of food, but the taste kinda reminds me of Mexican tv dinner. I will say I am a half and half, Mexican/Cuba so I maybe am being too harsh but still. I had the enchiladas verde, which was a good size portion the green sauce had no type of spice I actually had to use the salt shaker. The carnitas had no flavor, but they were soft sometimes at some restaurants carnitas can be hard or chewy. I also ordered tamales, and they were tiny, probably the size of hot pockets or even smaller and the "cornmeal dough" was hard and again no taste. The only thing I liked was the rice, beans, and my diet coke. I wouldn't go again. Not sure how the other Teresa's restaurants are like, but my experience here was not at all memorable. Go to Chevy's restaurants by the Mall of America instead. read more

If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would. We ordered catering for a party of about 50 people. The staff could not have been more helpful, the food was absolutely delicious, and it made our event super easy. It also was pretty inexpensive for how much good we received ($10 per person) AND it was far more food than 50 people could ever eat. We love the food so are happy with leftovers but my only suggestion might be to talk through your event with the catering people if you don't want a ton of food left over...extremely generous portions. We would absolutely use this again and recommend highly! read more

Doesn't look like much on the outside, even a little run down even but the food is phenomenal. You get some chips and salsa to start and literally before you know it your food has arrived! I ordered the classic chimichanga which was so crispy and delicious! I ordered the chicken per recommendation and definitely didn't regret it. Food: chips and dip were my fav.. I added some hot sauce to the salsa and it was delish! I ordered Spicy Shrimp, which came with refried beans and Mexican rice and lots of bell peppers. This restaurant serves very good meals. I have purchased street tacos and the excellent chicken, mango, and, avocado salad with flan for dessert. The staff must have purchased the largest avocado in Minneapolis because there was a lot and the chicken strips were cooked perfectly; they were not dry. The flan must be made there. It is terrific. Went back because a quick bite I had last night during a soccer game ended up meaning leftovers coming home that the family loved. In fact, they asked for my wife's birthday dinner to be takeout. So, went down, ordered, waited, and brought home dinner for 6. When i unpacked it, I was sad that something ordered dairy-free was not, but mainly that the chicken fajitas were all chicken, and no fajita. After leaving a hefty tip for takeout, I was really surprised that when I called in about missing a major part of one dish and an error on another, that they quickly went right to "we don't do refunds or credits" when I hadn't asked for either. Wasn't too busy, and while they did get the major parts in the order right, when you order to go and are reminded on the phone that they checked the order and were sure that the chicken was there (it was- wasn't disputing that part), just rolling right to a statement on refunds instead hearing me out was less than what I'd expected. The food that arrived complete was great. The child who can't eat dairy missed out on some, and the fajitas weren't fajitas. read more

I go to this place often and i am never disappointed. The food is mexican but they have to dull down the spices and things for people.. no one wants food thats too hot or spicy.if its not spicy enough add hot sauce.. Crap in the US we think anything thats comes in a tortilla is Mexican. They are not many Mexicans in that area so they need to cook food to cater to the demographics of the area. If you rate taco bell or chipoltle higher than teresas then you dont know what your talking about.. the service is always friendly and fast even when they are busy some one comes around making sure your ok. If your server is helping someone else and they see you sitting there another server normally helps you. happy hour specials is great.. 4:50 for a hugeeeeee beer thats ice cold. We just moved to the neighborhood and were looking for new places. I read the reviews on Yelp about the slow service at Teresa's Mexican Restaurant. I wanted to see for myself what all of the negativity was about, so I went. We sat at the bar and was immediately served chips and salsa. Our drink order was taken and served. The bartender doubled as a waiter and returned after a few minutes to take our order, which was served promptly. The food was good, not great. We went back a week later for their all day happy hour. Again, we were seated and served immediately. This time, they had a dedicated bartender. She was chatty and helpful. The food was good. The value of Teresa's was outstanding.
