Buffalo chicken wrap with a hearty side salad!
    Jackie S.

Worth the visit! This is a full service bar and restaurant at the Brookview Golf Course in Golden Valley. All are welcome! We were looking for a summer patio on Cinco de Mayo and ended up here! I had a Buffalo chicken wrap and a Paloma - both I would get again! Their salsa was good too! Plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. They have a super modern design and friendly staff. A large menu too with fun cocktails and food. All the prices are fairly average, and they have happy hour daily 3-6. I believe it's just $1-2 off certain items. I'd consider this a hidden treasure that probably only the locals and golfers know about!

This restaurant is inside the fairly new Brookview Center in Golden Valley. I am sure it is great to meet after partaking in their many outdoor activities. However, Brookview is also where the Backyard Indoor play space is located. We came here with another family for an early dinner after a late afternoon playdate with the kids. First, burn all the energy out of the kids, and second, everyone can eat and have a relatvely relaxing dinner - and not have to think about oh jeez it's 5pm, what am I going to feed the kids, etc. They have a decent menu of light/pub fare - lots of things kids will eat, not just the adults. They also have a full bar, too. The food was decent, nothing special. I wouldn't come here on date night for the food, but for what we needed, it worked well. Another nice thing is that (in the winter at least) it is not that busy around 5:30pm, so you can drag the kids, parents, etc. in and get a seat without waiting. Then you are on your way home and you have tired and well-fed kids - a nice recipe for getting them to bed early.

We had fun lawn bowling. The drinks were great and our server amazing. She even brought our drinks over to lawn bowling area.

Checking in for lawn bowling can be confusing due to lack of signage if you haven't been there before.

Plenty of seating although it seemed like a lot of the tables were very close to each other so not much privacy unless you are in a booth. Loved the individual bathroom stalls, very clean and private. The food was amazing!! We didn't know what to expect here but the food was cooked to perfection, shoutout to the chef for making the noodles Al dente, especially the rice noodles. Being Asian I know how hard it can be to get the right texture for rice noodles but they were perfect! Flavors were incredible. Portions were plentiful, we shared two entrees and two apps between 4 girls and we had leftovers and we were all starving too. Love the vibes here, definitely feels more upscale yet casual. Drinks looked really good too but we did not want to day drink this time.

My husband and I brought our two young kids on a random afternoon around 2-3pm. We weren't dressed up, but we weren't dressed inappropriately or overly casual either. The service was honestly some of the worst we've experienced -- lots of attitude, and we left feeling like we weren't exactly the type of guests they wanted there. Keot walking past us when we would call someon they wouldnt come. The food was mediocre and so unmemorable that, a year or so later, I couldn't even tell you what we ordered. The one thing we did enjoy was trying the different sauces. Enough time had passed that we decided to give it another shot. This time we went around 4pm on a Thursday and dressed up a little more. Right away, the host seemed annoyed that we didn't have a reservation, even though it was early and there were still plenty of empty tables. It was an odd way to start the experience. Thankfully, our server this time was wonderful friendly, helpful, and a complete change from our first visit. The food runners were also attentive. Unfortunately, the food itself was the biggest disappointment. The gochujang wings barely tasted like gochujang. There were so many other flavors going on that the gochujang seemed completely masked, and the wings weren't crispy at all. One of the kids' chicken tenders came out cut in half, which I'm assuming was to check that it was cooked through. Not necessarily a huge deal, but it was strange presentation. My husband and I both ordered the Caribbean chicken sandwich, and neither of us enjoyed it. It was dry, didn't have nearly enough sauce, and the pieces of slaw were way too large for the sandwich. I paid for extra sauces that never came, and my husband received the wrong sauce. The fries were good, and the service at the table was much better this time, but that was about it. After two visits at very different times, we've had essentially the same takeaway: Grackle has a cool concept and the sauces are fun, but the food just hasn't lived up to what we expected for the price. Our second experience also confirmed that our disappointing first visit wasn't just opening-month growing pains. I really wanted to like this place, especially enough to come back after a poor first experience, but unfortunately two tries was enough for us.

The menu was interesting, I had the Quinoa Breakfast Bowl which was very good (I love quinoa). It got very busy, there's no dropping in, get a reservation. They do have some bar/counter seating but friends advised scoring that was iffy. This was the old Dairy Queen way back in the day. It has had several iterations and Heather's is the latest and arguably the most successful. I would not have thought to go here had friends not made the reservation (it is near their home) and I guess I would not go out of the way to go here again. Don't let that stop you. Very small parking lot, 2 people wanted my space and had me boxed in.

Relatively easy to find, though you do have to hunt a little bit, Flora Room sits behind a nondescript metal door leading down a short hallway to the entrance. Take a long moment to allow your eyes to adjust if you're coming before sunset; this space is DARK. It's also perfect. Once your "night vision" kicks in you're surrounded by a nice bar, numerous bistro-style tables and booths. Candles adorn the tables creating a nice, cozy place to settle in for drinks. Once seated in comfortable chairs at a table, we were quickly greeted and provided with menus. The cocktail selection is relatively "small" but really nicely varied. Prices seemed a tad steep but frankly, given the quality of the drinks I'd say quite worth it. I started out with the Evita, a nice flavorful gin-base cocktail topped with a nice egg white foam. Very tasty. My wife opted for the Tapaculo, with gin, mezcal, pineapple, banana and bitters over ice. Also quite good. There are also bites available from the associated restaurant I can't recall the name of mine but I can say it was delicious. Bread-like bites with a really tasty dipping sauce. To close out the visit I selected Palo, a smoked aged rum cocktail that was really nice and rich. My wife chose the Nahualito with rum, walnut, amontillado and white chocolate. All should be on your radar. Flora Room really fit the bill for a nice, intimate speakeasy-style spot to spend time. Dark and cozy. Savory cocktails and friendly service will stand out and make you want to return. I know we'll seek it out if we return to Minneapolis again. I hope so.

However, it was worth the wait for us. There is a dark moody vibe and while my group went in for drinks, there are also options for food. The place itself is pretty loud - both with music and talking, so maybe not the best location for a first date. The drinks are expensive, but the experience was worthwhile for us. I enjoyed the meditteránea. I'll very likely be back! What a neat spot.

Both were wonderfully flavorful! My mom tried the grilled salmon with rice and asparagus, which I frankly didn't bother to try because I knew it wouldn't compare to the other two plates. The patio was incredible, though. Especially as it got darker out, the string lights made a very enchanting vibe- minus all the bugs biting your ankles. I would plan to return, but be prepared for a heftier bill!
