We were very disappointed with the restaurant today,we called Tuesday & asked if we could make reservations on Thursday for 3 at 5pm! We got to the restaurant tonight & we're told that there were no reservations today! We said that we wanted to be seated& we're told that we would get the next table, which we didn't get!! We were then informed that we would have to wait 20 minutes if we wanted to wait! No person went to get a manager even though we asked to talk to one! Most people coming in at this time were told it would be an hour before they would be seated!!!!!!!!!!! We were exited to go out for Cinco de Mayo so we really wanted Mexican food read more

I go to this place often and i am never disappointed. The food is mexican but they have to dull down the spices and things for people.. no one wants food thats too hot or spicy.if its not spicy enough add hot sauce.. Crap in the US we think anything thats comes in a tortilla is Mexican. They are not many Mexicans in that area so they need to cook food to cater to the demographics of the area. If you rate taco bell or chipoltle higher than teresas then you dont know what your talking about.. the service is always friendly and fast even when they are busy some one comes around making sure your ok. If your server is helping someone else and they see you sitting there another server normally helps you. happy hour specials is great.. 4:50 for a hugeeeeee beer thats ice cold. We just moved to the neighborhood and were looking for new places. I read the reviews on Yelp about the slow service at Teresa's Mexican Restaurant. I wanted to see for myself what all of the negativity was about, so I went. We sat at the bar and was immediately served chips and salsa. Our drink order was taken and served. The bartender doubled as a waiter and returned after a few minutes to take our order, which was served promptly. The food was good, not great. We went back a week later for their all day happy hour. Again, we were seated and served immediately. This time, they had a dedicated bartender. She was chatty and helpful. The food was good. The value of Teresa's was outstanding. The food was good and the prices are super low. This is a great place to go for anyone on a budget. read more

Our 9-year old granddaughter wanted to celebrate her birthday at a Mexican restaurant so her mom chose Teresa's in Golden Valley. There were 6 adults and 2 children in our group, and as soon as we sat down, baskets of complimentary crispy thin tortillas accompanied by a smooth and mild salsa was on our table. Upon request, you can ask for their spicy red salsa that is hot, fruity, thicker and more flavorful than their mild salsa. Did I mention it's hot? We got a round of water while we browsed the multi-page menu that reminded me of a Chinese Restaurant menu with all its selections. Meanwhile, we ordered margaritas. They offer 4 sizes - small, medium, large, and pitcher from $8 - $21. I had the medium Texas Margarita with Gran Marnier on the rocks, which adds a citrusy sweet flavor for an additional $2. Quite tasty! My wife and I love enchiladas so I ordered their "starred" special Enchilada Potosi - 2 carnitas filled with sliced (not shredded) pork topped with cheese, nopales (cactus), and salsa verde served with a traditional bland Mexican rice and refried beans. The pork was tasty but quite dry and not freshly made. The corn tortillas wrapping the carnitas were thick and rubbery, also not fresh. I had to send the dish back to the kitchen to be reheated as it was lukewarm at best. It returned hot but needed some hot spicy salsa to heighten its flavor. My wife ordered the Chicken Enchilada Verde and enjoyed her dish. The portions are huge and we could not finish our dinners. I must say that despite the missteps, the service was good, the atmosphere near the bar was low key and casual, and the prices are reasonable for Americanized-Mexican food. Teresa's is hands down my favorite Mexican food in minneapolis. It's basically so much of what you want in good Mexican food. Great service, incredible complimentary chips in salsa, (the quality kind thats homemade) fast service, good happy hour and good prices. I take friends to Teresa's when they're in town and also come here when I'm looking for good food that I know won't disappoint. It's been important to support businesses like this during Covid, especially because we want these to stick around! I honestly haven't had a complaint nor have I had anything bad to say about any of my experiences here. read more

I stopped by here again and this time for takeout. I ordered the same thing I got last time, the chicken chimichangas, and again wasn't disappointed. I live about 10 minutes from the restaurant and by the time my food was home the chimichangas were magically still crispy even though they were smothered in cheese sauce. HOW?! Not that I'm complaining or anything. I was pleased to find out they also included a large bag of tortilla chips with two sides of salsa along with a container of lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, and pico de gallo. We went to Teresa's for dinner and my boyfriend wasn't expecting much as the last time he'd been there, years before, he'd been seriously underwhelmed. We were both pleasantly surprised! Drink prices are reasonable (I want to say some of the beers on happy hour were only $2 or $3 - when does that happen near Minneapolis any more?) and I loved their salsa and warm tortilla chips. We chose something called a molcajete, a dish neither of us had tried before. It arrived at our table and was enormous. Easily could have fed a small village (or three adults, perhaps). We both were thrilled with our meal, to be honest. The dish had roasted vegetables that were just the right amount of charred, plus chicken and chorizo. The sauce/salsa was not too spicy but full of flavor and complemented the dish perfectly. The service was great up until the point we got our food, then our server disappeared. Maybe doing closing duties in the back and forgot about us? My boyfriend ordered a second beer and it never came. We had to remind the server of it when he finally came to our table again and by then we were ready to leave so the bf opted not to get it at all. Overall we were pleased with the experience and would go back again. I recommend the molcajete, try one if you've never had one before, and make sure you bring a friend or two to help you eat it! read more

Very competent Mexican Resturant, the salsa was good. From the Chori burrito, Chile relleno, and chimi the best thing was the Chori burrito. The cheese used was good compared to some others that maybe use Velveeta or something similar. The beans and rice were a bit bland, has to add salt. We ordered take out and it was delicious! We had the mixed fajitas, chicken taco salad, vegetarian street tacos, chicken street tacos, and chipotle quesadilla. Everything was fantastic! I loved the veggies in their the vegetarian tacos; mushrooms, onion, peppers, tomato and zucchini. They make their beans vegetarian, which I always appreciate. Often times refried beans are made with pork fat. The cooks were accommodating with special requests too. Their to-go containers are recyclable, which is so much better than the cheaper styrofoam which lasts forever in the landfill. We will definitely order out again! read more

It was a busy Friday night, staff was friendly, and knowledgeable. I ordered a margarita that was probably the worst I'd ever had :-( I chalked it up to being busy, but, I quickly switched to a beer to be safe. The food arrived quickly, i ordered a two item combo. The plate was plentiful, however lacked flavor all around. I will not be returning after being a frequent customer for years. Went there last night for what I thought would be a fun night celebrating a friend's birthday only to leave pissed off and uncomfortable. As I was leaving the bathroom, a man passing me decided it would be ok to grab my arm and smile. Shocked by this, I said "excuse me" in an angry tone and walked away only to hear employees at the bar's register laughing. My waiter confirmed that the man is an employee when I asked him. I ended up asking for a manager, who did come to our table and after I told him that one of his employees grabbed my arm and that was completely not appropriate, I get a half ass "sorry." I went out for dinner to have fun and celebrate and left filled with anger. It is disgusting that employees here think it is ok for a man to grab a woman and then laugh about it. This is not appropriate and not acceptable. Never returning to this establishment. Hopefully this employee will be reprimanded, but how the other employees laughed about it and the manager seemed not to care, I doubt it. read more

Terrible! First and last time visiting this restaurant and any of their franchises. This place deserves 0 stars. What started out as good customer service certainly ended in discrimination. I arrived at teresa's approximately 415 pm with 2 friends. 1 of my friends is a regular for the past few years. She highly recommended this place. We ordered food and drinks. our server, Sergio, gave us decent customer service. The food was delicious and the margaritas weren't bad. We all decided we wanted to order another round of drinks. Conversation is flowing and we are all having a great time UNTIL about 1.5-2 hours into our service our server Sergio comes over to tell us that his manager told him to tell us that it is a 2 hour dining limit and that we needed to leave. First of all we weren't done with our food or second round of drinks. Secondly, if there is such a policy this was never stated when we entered the restaurant nor was there any signage around the restaurant or on their website. Third, i asked THREE TIMES to have his manager come over and instead he dismisses my request and is going at it with my friend yelling back and forth across the table, and tells us that he has other tables to serve( as if we aren't valuable customers). When my friend stated she wanted another round of drinks Sergio then tells us that we can stay if we move down a table. What type of customer service is this and what kind of employees are allowed to work in this establishment and expecting their business to survive if this is how they treat consumers? Pretty sure that we were targeted and discriminated against as we are all women of color as the majority of families dining were Caucasian. Some arrived before or same time as we did and weren't given a problem on time limits. This needs to be dealt with and i plan on leaving as many reviews as possible to spread the treatment myself and my girls received. read more

In the Minnetonka area I was searching for late night Mexican that had authentic Mexican food (I really wanted steak a la tampiquena) and this was the only one that appeared. This place is awesome! The staff are all super friendly. Wednesday nights they have a live dj from 8 to midnight with a random assortment of music which was fun. I had the cheese dip a la carne which was delicious. My bistec a la Mexicana was phenomenal as well. The steak was juicy, great spices, and cooked perfectly. Rice and beans, yum. Happy hour prices are great too. Great drink specials. If you are looking for no frills Mexican food, Theresa's is for you. It's the Mexican equivalent of Applebee's to Americana, and Olive Garden to Italian. This restaurant resides in a former Applebees as a matter of fact. The restaurant is located at the end of a strip mall, that seems rather antiquated. It reminded me of Chi Chi's without the awful color scheme. Despite its aesthetic blandness, this place should be considered a good ol' standby for nights you are on 100 headed north and your tummy is rumbling for some Mexican food. I ordered a 32 oz mug of Dos XX beer for $5.25, which I found reasonable. The greeter at the door was also our server, and knew very little English it seemed, so it was a tad bit awkward to order or hold any sense of a conversation. He was very polite, and punctual though...which is what one would hope for in any dining experience. The menu was very full, with many appetizer choices, and entrees...beef, pork, chicken, and a pretty good vegetarian selection. I ordered the Tacquitos Mexicanos, 4 tacquitos with sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, etc. I swear it was about 3 minutes between the time we ordered to the time our food arrived! I ran out of guacamole fairly quickly, and asked for more from the server...which he promptly brought over. Later I would discover I was charged 3 bucks for this. This is really my only gripe. More guacamole with the meal for the amount of tacquitos on my plate. The tacquitos alone were passable...but I need my guac! How rare are Avacados anyway? I have only been to Theresa's for lunch. It's close to my work and also very inexpensive compared to the other dining options around the area. You get seated quickly, order quickly, get your food quickly and eat quickly. I have always been able to find a coupon for Theresa's online minutes before I enter the restaurant as well. The lunch specials range anywhere from $5-8; so a coupon really makes this place a bargain. You always get a ton of food and though it's not the best Mexican I have ever had its decent and totally worth the price. They also give you an individual serving of salsa! They have signs around the restaurant that boast a great Happy Hour so I have to check that out sometime too. For now, Theresa's will remain in my lunch rotation but I must try one of their flavored margaritas. read more

In the Twin Cities we are blessed with an amazing food scene which covers a wide range of various ethnic cuisine. As a lover of Mexican and Latin American flavors, I greatly appreciate the various Mexican restaurants we have in the area... However, I was greatly disappointed with my experience at Teresa's. Ive tried pretty hard to gain the will power to return to Teresa's to see if our experience was a fluke. I just havent been able to do it. It's quite disappointing, actually. The location is almost across the street from where I grew up, in a space formerly owned by Applebee's. Ive had friends tell me that the other Teresa's locations were very good, so I had to check it out when it opened. It was a major let-down. The first thing I noticed was that the interior was hardly unchanged from when it was an Applebee's. I used to be a regular there and I could have sworn they left up a lot of the same decor. I really felt like I was still eating in an Applebee's--not a Mexican restaurant. The menu seemed ok--typical of restaurants of this type. I felt comfortable ordering enchiladas. My brothers each ordered something different. We started off with chips and salsa which were ok, but not great. The food took a short time to come to the table, which was encouraging. The food, however, was awful. I feel horrible for using such harsh language but I just have to be honest. It's really hard to return to a place that serves food that tastes like it just came from a can and microwaved/thrown on a stove, especially when there are so many other dining options in the area. It's sad to say, but yes, I would much rather eat at a fast food Mexican place and both my stomach and wallet would be a lot happier. Hopefully, they have rectified many of the issues they have with their decor and kitchen. Id be willing to try it again if I start seeing better reviews in the future. My suggestion is to visit Los Ocampo if you are looking for the same type of place--it's a great value with super tasty food. Although I do admit that their interior isnt much better. I have been meaning to stop here for a while. This location was an Applebee's a few years ago and a Blockbuster video before that. I went on a Saturday afternoon. The location was not very busy and the staff was friendly. The complimentary chips and salsa were of a decent quality. I ordered the mole ranchero. It was not bad but definitely bland. I expect a little more for the flavor of Mexican food. The sides of rice and beans were just there. Nothing special. Beans were processed down to a bean puree almost a bean sauce.
