Delicious food. The char on the chicken was so delicious. I love that the sauce in on the side so I can control the sweetness. Huge portions also. Love their Thai tea. Lots of restaurants like these serve food at the bare minimum to stay in business. The chefs care about the craft. They nailed the aroma, flavor, and texture for everything. It probably says something about me that when I see a place with a cute or clever name my first thought jumps to ubereats ghost kitchen but after driving by teriyaki for you a few times and being intrigued enough to look up the reviews, it was obviously so much more than that misguided first impression. After checking it out I'm convinced this place is a labor of love in its early days still tweaking with its own formula but there is a strong core kernel with what they have already figured out that has me wanting to go back and try some more. I spoke with Shawn (sp?), the man behind the counter and the grill while I tried to quickly make up my mind on what to order when I got there 30 minutes before close to get the lowdown on the place. He was a friendly guy happy to share the story of the past 3 months they had been open and walked me through some of the new options not on the printed menu as well. I figured I had to start with the namesake and get the teriyaki chicken meal, substituting the printed Hawaiian inspired sides from the printed menu for beef wontons and edamame, and ordered the spam mubsubi as well. They also let me sub out half my rice order with a half order of fried rice they are thinking of adding to the menu as they had a batch whipped up. Everything was fantastic was generous portions (though I think I got hooked a bit up for coming in just before close to avoid waste), the chicken was a real stand out with a nice grill char that contrasted nicely with the sweat teriyaki glaze. It was a great meal and I'll be coming back to try the Japanese curry and garlic noodles next for sure. Another employee/owner whose name I didn't catch mentioned her sister owned 9 rabbits bakery and provided them with some baked goods and cakes and walked me through that offering as well. I always enjoy these collaborations even if don't always partake. They gave me a bag of cookies to take on my way out which was kind and unexpected. They were good and I'll likely head to their main location to try their full menu in future as a thank you. Teriyaki 4U is a great little restaurant that gave me a first impression of having a friendly neighborhood vibe. I think this place is really special and worth checking out if you like a japanese place with a bit of a fusion twist. I don't expect to be hooked up like I was lucky enough to be this time in the future but I feel like I need to mention when they happens to avoid hiding any potential bias in my reviews. Even without that experience, I think the teriyaki is what really sold me on this place and would recommend it as a great place to start exploring the menu. read more

This is legit teriyaki. I've been searching for good teriyaki since I moved from the PNW and have tried a few places. This is the best, hands-down and the prices are really good. Most places that serve teriyaki charge between $15-17 for a huge unrealistic portion size. This was around $10 and just the perfect portion with salad. My chicken was moist and tender and not overly sauced. Some places tend to go overboard on the teriyaki sauce but this was just right. I'm so glad I saw it pop up on my GrubHub app so I could go try it. I don't know if they used to offer more Hawaiian food, but I didn't see it on the menu. They do have yakisoba and katsu which maybe I'll have to try at a different time. read more

Do you want some bomb Teriyaki Chicken? Me too! Saw this cool looking spot so I decided to give it a shot. Got the Spicy Teriyaki Chicken as well as the Japanese Curry and the Crab Rangoons. The chicken was excellent, very tasty and well grilled with a nice smoky flavor even before the sauce. The Japanese Curry was also great, super tender potato and carrot pieces. We need to talk about those Crab Rangoons though! Most of the time you may as well call them cream cheese Rangoons, but these had an excellent amount of Crab and were slightly spicy and delicious. The teriyaki chicken was pretty good, the spam musubi was on point. I will go there this Thursday to get the teriyaki steak and chicken with a couple of spam musubi's and a moco loco. So I have now tried the garlic noodles (with added chicken), the spam musubi and tofu tempura. All the flavors are fantastic. The garlic noodles tastes like it's not from what you expect of a fast casual restaurant. You can tell they put thought into the flavor profile. I am hoping to try their garlic noodles with a different noodle type next time (they say subject to change on availability). The tofu tempura is also excellent as that actually use tempura batter when frying and for the spam musubi, it was also tasty (granted I am not a spam musubi kind of person). I also tried one of their mango green tea with lychee jelly drinks, it was pretty decent, I will ask next time if I can adjust the sweetness as I usually do 50% or less at other boba places. First time trying this place and it did not disappoint!! They stayed open late to make us our food and even gave us extra sauce and sirachia that they made from scratch in house. Service was great and the owners/head chef even came over to explain the menu. He also let us know that all the proceeds of this establishment go to helping local kids who can't afford to play in private basketball leagues. This guy is on point. We've eaten there probably six times over the last couple of months. My understanding is he hand makes everything, nothing is frozen or prepackaged or premade. We mainly order the spicy teriyaki, chicken, dumplings, and the chicken Katsu. The prices are more than fair, the portions are fitting and the price is competitive. The Mac salad that comes with the plate is super good and I never like Mac salads. The owner and number 2 guy are really friendly. Wow! So glad I discovered this spot. My partner always gets their dark meat teriyaki chicken and it is delicious. Their rice is great and never hard or overcooked, as is their teriyaki sauce. I recently tried their Loco Moco and, holy cow (pun not intended) - it's a LOT of food, but it's so good. The gravy they make for it is to die for. I've also tried the Spam musubi, which is amazing, and I don't typically like Spam. Hope they open more locations around the city in the future so I can have one closer to me! read more

This is not the same as it was a couple of months ago. They must have sold it. You can't get Moco Loco anymore and they don't do macaroni salad which was their most popular side.
