This place is SO good! My only complaint is that it isn't walking distance from my house, because I'd be here all the time. I've tried both the matcha and coffee drinks, and both are amazing depending on whether I need a bigger caffeine kick that day. So far I've ordered the pandan coffee, milk phin coffee, ube matcha latte, and blue coconut coffee. All were delicious! I love trying something new every time because I know it'll hit. One FYI: if you ask for less ice, they don't add extra liquid to make up for it, so don't be shocked if your drink looks a little empty. The drinks also run a bit on the sweeter side. The workers are all so nice and welcoming with any questions I have, and they always get drinks out quickly even when it's busy. Been wanting to stop by for a while now and finally made it out. I got two drinks: The Ube Coffee and The Black Sesame Latte. The Ube Coffee: 5/10 - I've tried various latte's and coffee with ube and this one was a little underwhelming. The coffee definitely overpowered the ube making it more coconut flavored than ube at all. I probably wouldn't get this again. After tasting for the very first time their, Black Phin Coffee (Ca Phe Den), I was truly craving more. BLACK PHIN: It's kind of difficult to describe what kind of flavor it is and what makes this particular Vietnamese coffee blend so unique. I usually prefer hot coffee. When you first get it, it offers a sweet aroma, like notes of condensed milk. But, it's not sweet flavored. Unless you prefer cream and sugar in your coffee. With every sip it becomes more and more uniquely flavorful. It offers a bold flavor for your taste buds. I typically can drink up to two 12oz cups, but even then I don't finish the entire cup. This one, I can finish the entire cup and crave more. ATMOSPHERE: The space is cozy and small. It stays busy throughout the day. It offers limited seating with a unique layout. You will find a few tables with chairs to the left of the entrance. Three open cubbyholes with tables and chairs, on the right side. The middle cubbyhole has a beautiful wooden world map. They have a small waiting area in the corner. This corner offers large wooden shelves full of unique merchandise for all your coffee needs. The shelves look like they've been thoughtfully designed and look elegant without overcrowding the space. SERVICE: All three times I've visited the service has been welcoming, efficient and the order made right. Even if your order is not to your satisfaction, they'll gladly remake it for you. The staff were friendly and helpful if you're new to Vietnamese coffee culture. PARKING: Extremely difficult to get a parking spot here. Be sure to plan your visit accordingly. You can drop your car buddy off and circle around a few times. OVERALL: All three times I visited, my hot Black Phin had exact same consistency as the first sip. The egg cream coffee was great, the egg cream complemented the strong taste of Viet coffee. The coconut matcha cloud was a little underwhelming. The matcha flavor was pretty weak, so the drink tasted mostly like coconut water. For the prices, $8 is a bit expensive for a cup of coffee, but I think it's still worth every once in a while. Got pandan matcha and durian latte. My pandan matcha was so delicious and refreshing, it was grassier than I expected, almost reminded me of the taste of pennyworth. The durian latte made me very curious and we had to get it. My husband liked it but I wish it had more obvious durian flavor in the coffee/latte than just the foam. Surprisingly not many coffee shops open before 9am in the area but was glad this place was open bright and early. Decor is modern and great place to hang if you plan on sticking around but they're pretty efficient on the grab and go. I love Vietnamese coffee and what they have here is excellent and best of all not too sweet. Generally I find most shops take to be made with cafe du monde and a lot of condensed milk but this here has definitely better beans and a better balance between acidity, sweetness and other flavors. It's also straight up rocket fuel - be warned, it's a very strong and potent brew but will get you going in the morning. I also tried a black sesame latte because it sounded interesting. The cream on top is nutty and rich with the sesame notes and the coffee is good too, though a bit hard to stir together, nor is it as potent as the drip but well crafted nevertheless. When I come again I think I would just pick the classic. All in all, great new coffee shop! read more

This place was hustling and bustling. It seems very popular, but my friend and I were lucky enough to snag a table. They have iPad ordering kiosks, so you do not have to wait in long lines to get your order in. I was so excited to see they offered a pistachio Matcha. It was as phenomenal as it sounds. They also had some fun new spring drinks that I would like to try in the future. The business was definitely busy and crowded, but I did not feel rushed out. After getting a truly filling meal nearby, we stopped by Trung Nguyen for some strong Vietnamese coffee - ideal to wake us up from the post-meal itis! The weather was gloomy and rainy. Nonetheless, there was still a line that nearly went out the door. There were two options to order - one self serve kiosk and one cashier. I got the matcha coffee. Despite the matcha being the top layer, the coffee was still the dominant flavor. Bold, chocolately, and a bit earthy. It was almost a bit too strong for my taste. WiFi info is posted by the cashier. Interior is pretty trendy with pop music thumping in the background. Ordered an Americano and the black sesame latte. The drinks took about 10 minutes. The iced Americano (no ice requested) came out only half full, so I'm guessing the volume is capped either way. It was fine, nothing special. The black sesame latte was pretty standard -- coffee on the bottom with a thick layer of black sesame cream on top. They give you a straw, but honestly a spoon (which they don't have available) would've been better so you can actually enjoy the coffee and cream together. Their straws are a bit hard to get out of their wrappers. I noticed a few people (other than us) wrestling with their straws. I may come back to try their dine-in-only drip coffee. read more

After coming back a few times I realized that the service is quite inconsistent. Sometimes they don't inform of your order number so you have to camp at the pick up area along with everyone else waiting. And then other times they just bring it straight to you. Sometimes the drinks take a really long time to be made while other times the wait is reasonable. The very last time I went I asked for light ice as I was going to be moving around a lot and didn't want the melted ice to dilute the taste. I was so shocked to see that the cup was barely halfway full. That just means when you order regular ice, you're really only getting half a cup, for $6?? I stopped coming here and then my friend recently showed me they put up a disclaimer about how they put the same volume regardless of ice. This has not been my experience at other tea shops and now makes me not want to come back, which is a shame because their tea is quite good. read more

Trung Nguyen is a Vietnamese owned cafe and has plenty of Asian inspired flavors to choose from. We ordered a Pandan Cream Latte, Banana Matcha Latte, and an Iced Crème Brûlée and all were actually delicious!! You can choose the sweetness & ice levels (we got regular). I prefer my coffees slightly sweeter so this was perfect for me, however, if you like yours more bitter then you should request less sugar. The cafe is a little smaller on the inside, but quaint and clean. It seems like a popular cafe so I wouldn't recommend coming here to study/work. I'm actually obsessed. My mango matcha was soooo good. A great matcha flavor and such a nice combo with the mango. The egg coffee blew my socks off. As I was exploring Dallas, I stumbled upon this Vietnamese coffee shop, and I knew I had to stop by. The first thing I noticed was the interior design and decoration were AMAZING. It really felt elevated, and despite the space being small, they undeniably made use of whatever space they could. I was immediately greeted by whom I presume is the owner. I took a while to decide on what drink I wanted (there were so many unique drinks; it was so hard), and he checked up on me a few times! Such great customer service. Go bold or go home, I decided, and went with the Durian Latte. I don't even know what words to use to even describe it. It was THAT good! The slight bitterness of the coffee was complemented with the sweetness of the durian, and every few sips I would be pleasantly surprised with bits of durian. It was truly such a unique drink with an interesting flavor dynamic; I've never had a drink like this. And I never found another drink like this again (not when I was in New York or Atlanta). I will definitely come back to this place if I am ever back in Dallas again! I know durian isn't for everyone, but if you love durian, you have to try this drink. read more

LOVE Trung Nguyen coffee! Once you've had Vietnamese coffee you can't go back to regular coffee. This brings me back to the motherland. The coffee is strong and delicious. My favorite is actually the corn coffee which sounds totally weird but it WORKS. If you're Vietnamese then you know what corn milk (sua bap) is and it tastes like coffee and corn milk essentially.
