So disappointed today!!! I called in at 11:46am to place my lunch order and was told it'd be about 25mins. Ok no problem, let me give them 30 mins. I walked in at 12:15pm to pay and it's still not ready. Ok, no problem maybe 5 more minutes.... NO!!! It was almost 12:30pm!!!! I had to go to the front and ask how much longer of a wait and the lady told me a few more minutes. And when she handed me my food there was apologies no nothing, just handed me my food and walked away. These people need better customer service especially when you already know that the customer is already upset!!! Did I mention, when I first walked to the register there were 2 cashiers. One Hmong girl and a Mexican girl with highlights in a ponytail. When the Mexican one was done with the customer in front of me, as I was walking up she just walked away!!! And didn't even tell me to wait or let me know that they'll be right with me. Wowww that was an embarrassment making me standing there expecting help.... Teriyaki Don isn't how it use to be, fast and courteous. It's now slow and slower.... No customer service and rudeee over all of possible. P.S did I forget to mention that all with all that extra time waiting, the rice wasn't even fully cooked!! You can still taste the grain!!!

Teriyaki Don has been a staple in my family for years, it's a Fresno classic. The portions of the food have always been good, the staff is friendly, the store is clean, and the prices are great. I love going on weekends because they have their spicy crispy chicken on special, and you really can't beat the price for how much you get. I typically take 2 days to finish the bowl! I also appreciate that you can order the spice on the side and ranch on the side when ordering takeout. The staff themselves are always attentive and helpful, and service is incredibly fast. I typically order and it's ready within 10-15 minutes. Not to mention the teriyaki sauce is superb. The crispy chicken has come out overcooked or randomly soggy on the bottom sometimes but it's rare. Love this place!

    Long waits-

no one in line seems to be an organization issue. About 7 people on staff but I'm waiting 45 minutes for one rice bowl. Customer service is unapologetic- it's normal to wait an hour for your order.

Chicken Yaki Udon with a small side salad. The dressing here was pretty good.

It was solid. We got a few udon soups, and I got a yaki udon with chicken. This is apropos of nothing, but the chicken is REALLY good with kimchi (that we got separately at a market). Otherwise, pretty saucy, with an overabundance of green onion. They don't offer a vegetable tempura udon, which is a weird thing to leave off an offering of udon, so they charged us for a plain udon and a side of veggie tempura. The guy at the front was coughing quite a bit, with no mask, so... I was a little bit . Like, I totally get if you have to work, just....maybe put on a mask? Size portions are modest.

It took me way to long to give this place a try, please don't make the same mistake i did. Because you are only delaying your satisfaction from some of the best crispy chicken you'll find!!!! My word the portions are huge, the chicken is both crispy and juicy, the rice balances everything out and the sauce on the side salad!!!! Now that sauce made eating vegetables so easy! Considering i ordered on DoorDash my expectations were not high at all, but i was pleasantly surprised. Another thing that is amazing is that it is rather affordable and with so many menu options you can easily add this to your lunch or dinner rotation! Ill have to go in person soon to get a feel for the environment, and pick up some more food!

Spicy Crispy Chicken Salad ~ so good!

Always a hometown fav!! Had the Spicy Crispy Chicken salad and it was scrumptious! A huge salad with a generous portion of their spicy crispy chicken was exactly what I needed. The huge container of dressing, really made the entire dish. Always the best service each time I've visited & they are always busy. Can't wait to get back there ~ so good!!

Ordered Spicy California Roll, spicy tuna roll, Spicy Shrimp Roll, and Shrimp Tempura Roll

Was sad to come in and find out that celery and carrot sticks aren't on the menu anymore. Ordered 4 rolls and their signature mayonnaise sauce, the sauce was off super mayonnaisey. The Tempura roll was the best, even tho the avocados were bruised on every roll. Presentation is everything to me and I brushed past it thinking it's still good but no I was wrong, the spicy tuna roll wasn't good. And super skimpy (First roll in the photo). The spicy California roll wasn't the same new chefs I'm assuming? The sushi was my main buy when I would go here I'm not sure if I'll be back. Best of luck to your business you lost mine.

If I could do half stars I would have rated everything 3.5 stars but I rounded up for the delicious food. When you first walk in you receive a greeting and the customer service is fine. We tried the Chicken Teriyaki Don and California Roll. The California Roll was delicious and freshly packed with so much rice and filling. Sometimes sushi is so thin you are left hungrier than before, that is not an issue over here. The Chicken Teriyaki Don plate was very filling and full of delicious flavor, only down side is a few of my chicken pieces were overcooked and it was straight dry and hardened. Thankfully, it was only a few bites that were over charred and I was still able to enjoy everything. The chicken is on a bed of rice and the side salad is good with what I'm assuming may be a sesame dressing. The cup of teriyaki sauce that it comes with is plenty for both the chicken and rice. The teriyaki sauce is a thinner sweet umami flavor which I enjoyed. The establishment itself is not the cleanest and looks a bit outdated, worn, and there seems to be grime stuck on the floor and trash around the soda fountain. Our service was quick during closing time. I wouldn't feel comfortable sitting down and eating in the establishment but I would definitely recommend take-out services. It's been a verrrry long time since I've been back here... why? No particular reason other than I literally forget about them until I drive pass their restaurant and I'm like-- "Ooh, Teriyaki Don!" But each time, I keep driving. Not this time... we finally stopped & dined in. It looks like how I remember it, though I remember more tables to sit at? I could be wrong. There were like 3 tables and 3 booths? One booth designated for their break time (that we didn't notice right off the bat when we sat down-- it was about that time... so we moved). They did say it was okay to sit there but we sat elsewhere anyways, just in case. This is definitely not an aesthetic spot, but I'd consider this more a take-out restaurant with the option of dining in, if you wanted to. Once upon a time... we were able to go up to the counter and grab as many carrot sticks and dressing as we wanted-- that's no longer a thing. Shame. But I understand... they knew what could make them more money and they capitalized on it! Now, you have to buy the extra dressing (delicious, btw) but bummer for my wallet. I was trying to get him to order the Salmon (cause I wanted that too) but I also really wanted the spicy, crispy chicken ... he did too. Now that I think about it, I should've just ordered the Salmon and ate off his chicken but whatever-- too late now lol. Chicken isn't always my first choice when I eat out, but because this is what I was introduced to my first time-- I stuck with it. Also, it's not spicy (for me) but I like the extra flavor/kick it adds. One plate is definitely enough to share, but the leftovers were just as good a few hours down the line. We both got a combo, which comes with the chicken&rice, 2 pot stickers (I didn't care for these), salad, and a drink. You get sauce for the pot stickers and teriyaki sauce with the chicken, and of course dressing on the salad... but not enough. I spent 40ish on both plates plus an additional 10 before we left-- had to get some of that dressing to go! It's a hefty price, but I've spent far more on far less. The portions are great, and the food is good. Maybe next time I'll try their beef because I'm surprised I haven't yet. Staff was friendly and they worked fast. There were only a couple people ahead of us in line to get our order taken... and we didn't wait too long for our food either. Also, I like that they had the cool drink machine with the variety to choose from... everywhere should have this, honestly. However, I didn't like that they don't leave napkins out for us to be able to grab and use though... because each time we refilled, our hands got wet/sticky. Reconsider that please. All in all, they didn't let me down. I was starving and my hunger was satisfied.

I'm sorry but I just don't understand the hype this place has. I have nothing against the business, they have really nice, really friendly, really helpful customer service and that in itself would have kept me coming back but their food is just not it. We ordered a few things to try. The meat was dry and overcooked, their salad is basically just spinach and their seafood (shrimp & imitation crab) tasted old. The best thing on my plate was the steamed rice. The establishment is located at the end of a small shopping mall, it's clean and there's seating inside and out. Menu is easy to read and understand and service is fast.

    Daily special: Spicy Crispy Chicken
    Lena S.

I haven't had this in agessss. Before covid. It's not really near me but I decided to try it again. I got their daily special, which was the crispy spicy chicken. It was $9 came with breaded chicken, rice, salad. It wasn't spicy, at all. I see they added chili but the chili wasn't spicy. Chicken itself didn't have flavor but the teriyaki sauce added a nice touch of sweet and salty. Rice was nicely cooked. Salad was okay, had a white sauce on it, a mayo based dressing. (4/5) Shrimp tempura roll, honestly this could've been a skip for me. It needed sauce or something extra. The sushi was lacking. It was dryyy. It was a big roll. (2/5) Veggie tempura: crispy, light, veggies were fully cooked. They fried bell peppers, I've never seen anywhere include bell peppers. Not a fan of that, but I'm sure someone else will. (4/5) Honestly it's what I remembered from before, needless to say they're consistent. They did a bit of remodeling, not as many tables as before. Overall it's 3.5 star. It's good but not amazing. Food here is a great deal. I recommend trying it if you're searching for a quick and cheap meal.

Very good sushi. The shrimp and cucumber were delicious together. Ordered online pickup and everything was ready on time. The price is great. But the reason lost one star is the sushi rice didn't have vinegar flavor, normal taste, but it's still good for the price. I really like the place smells very clean and nice when you walk in. There is no oily or strange smell, feels very comfortable. I would back again

It was fun to have them cooked in front of us and the meat was buttery, I would say to save your money. Let them cook your fried rice in front of you for the ambiance and you get more for less money. It also has Wagu beef. We also tried the bone marrow and we liked it but I do believe it's an acquired taste. We had two mixed drinks the Hibiscus Shoga, very good, but a bit too sweet. Then the Kohahu Carmel Old Fashioned which was a recommendation and we love old fashions. This was good but way too sweet for us. I do recommend the Kurosawa Nigori. We plan to return to try the spoons and seafood risotto and maybe the lobster temaki. Also recommend going earlier than later. We had an 8pm reservation and the grill was cleaned at 9pm so it was a surprise to have the kitchen closed so early.

The second drink the bartender gave us was a vodka sprite. Maybe we should have specified soda means seltzer. Dinner bill for 3 adults and 2 kids was $250 plus tips. The food was decent but the service was underwhelming and subpar for spending that type of cash. Especially since the server seemed like anything we asked her was asking her to go out of her way. It has been several years since I've been to this place. I remembered the Teriyaki Chicken Bowls…read morewith Fresh steamed veggies on top. I decided to swing by because I missed the place. I will say the service is VERY quick, but unfortunately their quality has definitely gone down. It used to take them about 5 to 10 minutes getting these bowls ready with fresh ingredients. This time around it took them like 1 minute from the moment I paid.. which is great in the sense of time..but not great for the quality of the ingredients. I ordered their Chicken Teriyaki Bowl with 2 pieces of their California Roll. The chicken was shredded when it used to come in cut up pieces. The chicken felt stale and dry, as if it was made ahead of time and just sitting to be reheated as someone ordered. My bowl came with no veggies whatsoever, except for the chopped green onions for flavor and garnish. The rice to chicken ratio was unpleasant. I feel like I ordered rice with a side of chicken. The two pieces of California Rolls were definitely made ahead of time. The Nori was soft and observed the moisture. The flavors within the sushi were good though. The ratio of rice and avocado, plus the other condiments came together well. This was accompanied with some teriyaki sauce you pour over your teriyaki bowl and some wasabi sauce to add to your sushi if you wished to do so. The service itself was not rude, but also not the best. With everything put together, I'm pretty disappointed in my returning experience here. It was such a good place from what I remember. I'm not sure if it's new ownership or leadership since I was last here, but it is definitely not the same quality that made me want to keep coming back before. I won't be back, but you can always give it a try and see what your experience is.
