Teriyaki chicken plate with double meat
    Irene B.

This place is value central. I ordered the teriyaki chicken plate with double meat and it was about $12-13. This easily lasted two complete meals. They are so generous with the meats :) The salad on the side complemented the meal well as it added a light crunch to the meaty, saucy goodness. The rice was good as well-- chewy and not dry at all. This place is perfect for a quick lunch bite between work hours, their service is efficient and great, and parking is not an issue. They posted a sign up saying they will have to increase prices soon because the cost of food is increasing a lot too. Understandable and I am willing to continue supporting this small family business.

I ordered the Red Dragon sushi roll and I found 2 hair on the rice. When I called, the person I spoke to kept denying the fact that there is hair on my roll. She was so rude and disrespectful. Instead of apologizing for the inconvenience she insisted to pick fights with me. I asked for her name and she refused to provide me her name. Dont order from here. It is unsanitary. Makes me feel sick to my stomach.

It's good for take out as a quick lunch if you're in the area and need some food. I had the chicken teriyaki bento box. It came with soup, salad, rice, 4 pc california roll, and 4 pc tempura (shrimp, broccoli, sweet potato, and some other vegetable). At $9.75 it was a lot of food and ended up being lunch and dinner for me. There are better options for sushi and tempura but the teriyaki was great.

Roll was NOT fresh. Tasted so disgusting. This was also not on a hot day & the food was just served a few min prior to taking this photo.

This place is not good for sushi rolls. Ordered the Alaska roll and the roll was stuffed with too much crab meat and little cucumber. The disproportion wasn't the main issue. The salmon was NOT fresh. I thought it looked funky to begin with but I was hungry and gotta eat quickly. It tasted like feet or vomit. Barely took a small bite of it and it tasted so disgusting. Avocado..rice.. were also not fresh. They tried to cover it up with sauce and sesame seeds too...unbelievable. You can also see the texture of the salmon looking funky. This was not on a hot day and the food was just served a few minutes prior to taking this photo. Went back in for a refund immediately.

My favorite go-to lunch spot on Friday's when I work my part time job. The owners are sweet and lovely. The food is great.

I went on a taco run yesterday to try to find the best taco in Whittier…read more Started off the run with a keto taco mixed with asada and al pastor and then a regular tripa taco. Keto taco - toasted/grilled cheese instead of a regular tortilla - needed to be done a little more on one side as the cheese wasn't quite toasty enough to stay in place to slightly resemble the shape of a taco. Bit hard to eat, covered my hands in grease. Asada tastes almost boiled, and this being my 2nd or 3rd time getting the Asada here, it consistently tastes like it was boiled and not grilled. Unsure of meat quality or preparation, but there are no grill marks and it's a bit chewy. Same with the al pastor. Tripa taco was bizarre. Strips of flat skin instead of the usual roundish, cylindrical shape of tripa (intestine). Usually a saltier, fattier meat than asada, which is my preference but the one here was lacking in flavor and the texture threw me off a bit. Tripa can be chewy - unless requested extra done, which is how I normally order it - but there was no saving this tripa. I think it needs to be sliced differently, the cuts made it inedible. Brother shared some of his chorizo taco and it was the better of the bunch. Red chorizo, TJ style, although it was also lacking a teeny bit in flavor... onions and cilantro to the rescue! Still, mediocre. Salsas were ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Don't think the tortillas were homemade. Service was fine, cashier takes your order, dude at the counter was chill and had a friendly attitude. Seating was limited. Mostly bar style seating but the majority was in front of a window and it had so much heat trapped from the glass that it was kind of uncomfortable. Other seats are too close to the bathroom. Good for a quick bite or just pick-up orders. Wouldn't plan a sit down/dine-in visit. Parking is scarce and has really small spots, wouldn't come if you're driving a pick-up truck or anything like that. Food was reasonably priced, which is good, however; the food was lacking so I would not return.

.., meet Whittier's Uptown hero!…read more My experience here was from 6/26/26 & it did not disappoint. Though I've been to Uptown Provisions twice before to support my friend Andrew M, as well as my other friend Andrew P. with Satori Coffee Project, this was my actual visit where I finally ate! Third times the charm! Tucked nicely into a Penn St. neighborhood, Uptown Provisions can easily be spotted by the loyal patrons waiting/dining outside. May the street parking gods be kind to you as they always provide me with a spot nearby. Knowing what I already wanted from doing my menu homework the night prior, I was practically drooling on my way in. Greeted by a great staff & friendly fellow patrons, I felt right at home. I went with the "Tom's Way" sandwich. Dedicated to one of their favorite customers, it's a crossover between an egg sandwich & a pastrami. It was perfect! Chef Aaron describes his sandos as the perfect West Coast sandwich, & that I can totally agree with. Tom's Way provided me with a robust sandwich blend that never knew I needed until now. Each component's flavor profile blended together nicely. I'm usually hit or miss with rye bread, but this rye hit the mark & held the ship together. The eggs were made with care & prepared in a way I've never tasted before, very delicious. Pastrami was tender, pickled onions provided the bitter tangy component while the broccoli slaw became the soothing blanket that nestled every flavor together. I absolutely loved my sandwich. They post a 20 minute wait time but I got mine in 15. Great things come to those who wait. They do not have a public bathroom so plan your visit accordingly. They have a few counter seats inside with plenty more outdoor seating in front with friendly locals chatting it up. Don't be shy with the napkins. Thank you Uptown Provisions for a great experience, I shall return!

As we waited, I started noticing something interesting: two parties who came in after us were seated immediately. Then almost 30 minutes went by. At that point, I poked my head back in and said, "Hey, we put our name down about 30 minutes ago, and I've noticed people coming in and getting seats." Immediately, the hostess who originally helped us said, "Yes, yes... sorry about that. You can choose a table right now." So apparently our table had been available in the Witness Protection Program. To make matters worse, we were seated next to one of the parties that arrived after us, and we got to enjoy the thrilling experience of watching them receive their food before we even ordered. The food itself was good overall. The only miss for me was the mac and cheese, which tasted like KFC mac and cheese that had a passionate encounter with a jar of jalapeño juice. Would I come back? Maybe. The food was decent, but for a first visit, the service definitely left a stronger impression than the meal did.

We tried each of the other businesses that are east of the Home Depot. We tried Shoe City (we thought we were a shoo-in), "Sorry, we don't have a restroom." What? We tried Subway nextdoor , "No we don't either." We tried ANB Japanese Grill around the corner, "No dice." We know they have employee restrooms--they can't just hold it all in for 8 hours--they just don't want to set a precedent? I was seriously considering begging the nearby residents and giving them money for a chance for relief when I saw the Popeye's to the west. We got over there and they were open, and the guy in the driveup window with the employee (we were on foot) said, "Sure, just go around the other side.
