I ordered the chicken veggie bowl with the sauce on the side. The meat was lukewarm, kinda dry and some pieces were a little tough to chew. The rice was soft but very boring. The vegetables were good other than that nothing to brag about. Decent prices for the food they serve. It's old inside and very small. The place needs a few upgrades. I ordered the combo plate with the default chicken and steak. It came with rice under the meat, and the two smaller slots had iceberg lettuce salad, which came with an oil/salt/vinegar dressing. The steak was a little salty and chewy for my liking, and I felt the chicken was a little dry/over charred. It wasn't particular good, but it wasn't bad either. It was a quick fix meal. read more

This place is value central. I ordered the teriyaki chicken plate with double meat and it was about $12-13. This easily lasted two complete meals. They are so generous with the meats :) The salad on the side complemented the meal well as it added a light crunch to the meaty, saucy goodness. The rice was good as well-- chewy and not dry at all. This place is perfect for a quick lunch bite between work hours, their service is efficient and great, and parking is not an issue. They posted a sign up saying they will have to increase prices soon because the cost of food is increasing a lot too. What ups the Ante here is that they serve brown rice on their chicken bowls, which to me helps big time! because I like to watch my calories. On top of that this place still does not disappoint! because every time i get served my Teriyaki Chicken bowl its always made fresh! There's even a new Waba Grill that opened about a mile away eastbound on Telegraph rd. and their taste doesn't beat out Teriyaki Express. You can add simple toppings on your meal like : green onions, lemon, and even wasabi! If you like burns to the nostrils to clear the sinus, a tad of wasabi is a must! I called in an order for pick-up for my coworkers and I. I made the mistake of ordering "chicken bowls", when I really wanted "chicken veggie bowls". So when I didn't see any boiled vegetables in the bowl when I went to pickup, I guess I gave the biggest confused look to the lady behind the counter because she explained that only the chicken veggie bowl comes with steamed vegetables. The lady must have known that I really wanted steamed vegetables because she told me to wait, and was nice enough to bring out a little covered cup of vegetables to add to my bag of chicken bowls. At first glance I thought this place would be like any other to-go teriyaki places that serve dry and overly cooked meat that is drenched with mediocre teriyaki sauce to cover the bland taste. But, after getting sick of going to Quiznos numerous times next door I decided to expand my options. I was pleasantly surprised that that my combo beef chicken bowl was served with such a generous amount of meat. The meat was delicious as well, very juicy and marinated in Korean BBQ sauce. With a scarce selection of asian food in the Santa Fe Springs area (where I work), this place is a nice spot for a quick lunch. There's not too much seating inside, so I usually get this to go. They offer rice bowls with chicken and beef (similar to what you would get from you local Waba grill or flame broiler), but better! They also offer different Japanese sushi rolls, but I have yet to try that. My go-to order here would be the combo veggie bowl. For under $7, it comes with a bowl of rice and veggies with half grilled teriyaki chicken and half grilled beef. I think the beef here is the real game changer and what makes them different from the flame broilers and waba grills of the world. I feel the beef offered in those chain locations usually taste like small chunks of charcoal pieces that are beef jerky-like and hard to chew. The beef offered here tastes kind of like the korean bulgogi beef which are more thinly sliced but flavorful. Don't forget to get the sriracha on the side to give it the extra spice in your life! read more

Just discovered this little gem tucked behind another business in a highly industrial area. I just started working in the area about a month ago and getting great food nearby is a challenge to say the least. This place offered very fast, very friendly service, the food was great and fresh. They have chicken and/or beef and/or veggie rice bowls, freshly made sushi, Benton boxes, and lots more. I had a chicken and veggie bowl, the chicken was perfectly cooked and the veggies were steamed yet perfectly crunchy and not at all soggy like some other places. The menu is simple, if not slightly limited, which is great to get food out faster but I can see the same thing getting old after a while. One thing I would love to see if maybe regular and large size bowls as an option. At about $6 for a chicken and veggie rice bowl I can say the prices are more than reasonable, but I wouldn't have minded paying even $2 more for a larger size or maybe an all veggie (instead of rice) option? I've only eaten here a couple of times because it is near my job. Both times I tried the sushi, which is maybe my mistake. Maybe I should have gotten the teriyaki. The first time I tried the Philadelphia roll and I think the Washington roll. These things are a little oversized, and the amount of cream cheese was truly astonishing. The second time, many months later, I got the crunch roll. It looked so appetizing. But it was in this weird space between warm and cold, the shrimp was a little oily and flavorless, and it's just too big. It makes it too difficult to eat, I don't like saving sushi leftovers, and it's not delicious enough for me to keep wanting more. I've found this place by a friend so we gave it a try so I order a Fire Cracker Roll and I end up throwing away. The rice was dry and it wasn't tasty at all. I also ordered aside order of Edamame they taste old the only good thing is that they were warm. The food is definitely good. Everything I ate was slightly above average. I had a steak and chicken bento box. The meat was a bit overseasoned and over cooked. Chicken had great texture, nice char. fresh. Their sauce is sweet, a bit on the pulpy side. But is a great compliment to the chicken and steak. Rice was rise. The cali roll however, bulged with imi crab and you couldn't really taste anything but the crab. I wasn't a fan. The tempura batter was a bit thick, made it hard to really enjoy the actual item you were eating. In addition, I ordered a dragon roll. Eel and avocado on a cali roll... it was decent. This place is good for what you pay. It's great value for dollar, and it's best enjoyed as a take out spot. It's not the place you want to take a date...
