As is true for many buffets, the food is mixed, but, overall, a solid buffet with some highlights. One disappointment: I'm a sushi fan, and I found the sushi here not interesting. I was here for lunch around noon and the sushi looked ok, but not particularly fresh. (I'm not saying it wasn't fresh, just that it looked like it had been sitting around). It tasted fine. There is a broccoli with chicken and broccoli with beef stir fry. The broccoli in each were outstanding. Fresh, crisp and delicious. Two baked fish entrees (salmon and a white fish) - both were very good. Nothing fancy - just tasty fish. There's a fried fish (tilapia or some type of white fish) that was very good. The breading was tasty and not too thick. There's a cocktail sauce on the salad bar that is good and goes well with this dish. The hot and sour soup was tasty. Broth was a little thick, likely from corn starch. Less corn starch and the soup would be great (although some people like a thick broth). I didn't do the hibachi. There's also a chocolate fountain that I didn't use. There's a nice variety of fresh fruit. And I was impressed by the juiciness of the oranges and the melon. Extensive salad bar and good selection of items for dessert. Overall, a good buffet at a good price point for lunch and, I think, also for dinner. The restaurant closes at 1030 but they actually stop serving before then. We arrived after nine and noticed they stopped refilling the trays and the remaining food was lliterally cold to the touch. Thankfully, the Hibachi grill was open and the dish was very good. I understand it was late but if you close at 1030 people should not be picking off cold scraps from 900 to 1030. However, I'm willing to give it another try during normal hours. For now, Hibachi is your best bet dining here after 9p. read more

Worst restaurant experience in all of 2022. Came on a Monday. A lot of food looked like it had been out for days, like they made it for the weekend and then whoever comes on Monday gets the scraps. The food was somehow cold despite being under warming lamps. No egg rolls. No sweet and sour chicken. They were out of general tsos chicken. More seafood than Chinese. I was afraid to eat any of the seafood because of their low food standards. Still I tried the sushi hoping that would be held to a high standard but there was bad crab meat in the rolls. My family & I have visited this place three times in maybe the last 2 months. The first time, we were bored & wanted to try something new in our neighborhood so we won't have to drive too far. Anyways... i definitely felt it afterwards & was certainly annoyed. We tipped & left. Our third time was no different than that second time. Once again in the middle of our meal, a tray of fortune cookies was placed on our table & we weren't there for an hr. I was annoyed even more. I wanted to try a new buffet. I went in and it seemed like a nice atmosphere. I was sat at my table, and the waitress placed my silverware and receipt (with my drink request) on the table. I went to get my first plate, and I was disappointed by the selection and later disappointed by the taste. The best part of the buffet was the grill. The worst part, was after I finished my first plate I got up to try more food. When I returned to my table, I was surprised it had been cleared and the waitress was sitting a group at my table. The waitress looked at me standing there with a plate of food and asked if I was with the group she was sitting, I said no I've been sitting here. She asked me where my receipt was, I told her it was on the table. The waitress looked at me like I was trying to scam her. Luckily the customer sitting at the table next to me chimed in and said I had already been sitting at the table. Then the waitress sat the group somewhere else and another waitress later brought me a replacement drink and a plastic fork. When you hear the words "all you can eat Chinese buffet," instantly, your expectations should be grounded. You know exactly what you're going to get, and reviews critiquing the quality of food should take this into account. One wouldn't put McDonald's on the same field as Quarry House or even Five Guys. So, what can you expect? Teppenyaki is rather typical of Chinese all you can eat buffets. It has the odd eclectic mix of sushi, pizza, chicken nuggets, and various Chinese American foods, plus a large dessert area. It's heavy on the seafood, with lots of shrimp, clams, crayfish, and crabs. Some of these foods are okay, some are not. Some are obviously bad choices. The pizza looks worse than anything you'd find in a 711 under the heat lamps, and I would never brave it. A lot of the seafood dishes depend heavily on imitation crab meat. Others are kind of dry (the crab is basically empty shell). It will also depend on when you go. Busy is definitely better, with higher food turnover. Some stuff is surprisingly good. The steamed mussels are delicious. The crab Rangoon are great. The raw stuff is surprisingly good (again, for where you are: the oysters aren't Rappahannock!). The big variety of dessert is fun. Lots of fresh fruit (though, someone please show them how to cut a mango). Lots of cakes, which are basically store bought. Jello galore. And a chocolate fountain with very stale marshmallows, provided you have an iron constitution and lots of vitamins (yea, you couldn't pay me). Service is friendly and good (they're mostly topping off soda). You do pay before you go in, which is a little odd. Overall the food is mostly mediocre, some good, some bad. The food is just Meeeeehh. Nothing particularly special about this buffet. I don't particularly enjoy buffets, but my guest wanted to come and you definitely get what you want when you hang with me. I was surprised to see the giant chocolate fountain. I had to try that and I basically stuck to the seafood options that I can tell came straight from the ocean. There were signs saying "only for lunch" or "for dinner guest only" I thought that was tacky. Once you pay you should be able to eat whatever you payed for at the buffet. read more

We haven't been here in a year and decided to return and try lunch on 5/1/19, a weekday, for $8.99 (soda is extra). Seniors receive a 10% discount. There is a large variety of sushi, not just basic rolls, including shrimp, salmon, tuna, and eel that you don't see at other nearby buffets for lunch. The hot entrees were plentiful and replenished. Probably best time to visit is a weekday to avoid crowds. 10/14/19 update - Price for lunch on a weekday is now $9.59 from 11 am to 3:30 pm. Soda is $1.89. 1/25/20 update - Saturday dinner buffet price is $14.59 plus soda is $1.89. Seniors receive 10% discount. My overall experience at the Teppanyaki Grill was pretty okay -- 2.5 stars would be a perfect rating but I've rounded up to 3 here. I came here with a group of 20ish people after a family event; we were seated right away in the upper area of the dining room. After our drinks were ordered and served, we headed to the food stations to survey our choices. I was impressed by the variety of food options they presented to the diners! I loaded up my plate with some buffet usuals such as fried rice and various chicken, beef, and shrimp dishes as well as wings and fish. All the wings I had were slightly undercooked -- I don't mess with chicken with much (or any) pink in the middle. The other chicken and sauce dishes were just okay, very middle of the road. Overall, some of the dishes I had didn't seem fresh and and hot so I wasn't blown away. My next couple of plates were from the stir fry section; you are able to select rice, noodles, raw meats, and veggies to create your own stir fry or fried rice concoction! This station was delicious -- your concoction is cooked in front of you on a flat top grille and returned back to you piping hot. I did notice the chef kept my steak on the grill a little too long which made it a little tougher than i would like, but we'll let that slide this time. I wish this station offered a variety of sauces to help add flavor and zest to the dish -- a small sauce station on 5 different sauces to try would be a great addition! If you're looking for glitz and glamour, this isn't the place for you. But if you're looking for a solid buffet with reasonable prices than look no further. Looking for a buffet in Laurel I found the one at the shopping centers on Baltimore Avenue. The grill cook done a good job yet most foods on the buffet were fantastic though I found a lot of breaded white meat that I didn't want. I found the desserts not very tasty like other buffets though being a Thursday night May be why! Waitress help was fantastic but what I didn't expect was the place to have only five parties. They are aggressive and as soon as they see you eating fruit they give you fortune cookies, ready to kick you out. BE AWARE. They will force you to tip when you get up, if they don't see tip they will follow you and ask for it! Of course you're at a Chinese buffet so I feel like you need to not expect so much in terms of quality. I come here strictly for seafood, so if that's what you're looking for.. this place is for you! All the other food is meh but the seafood makes up for the money paid. They offer shrimp, crawfish, blue crab, and LOBSTER. I've been to many other seafood buffets and this place has the best seasoned crawfish. It does pretty well that you get your share of seafood and it won't be gone in minutes like other locations. Laurel offers much more variety for food than Rockville's location and the service is definitely more consistent. They clean your plates very often as soon as you finish, refill drinks and food trays are replenished regularly. This is better if you have a large party or you're just trying to feed a family.
