One thing I can confidently say about Teriyaki Miako is that it's not the last time I'll come. There isn't a shortage of Teriyaki in Mukilteo and Everett, but this places checks all boxes. My bf recommended this place and we get teriyaki here when we are in the mood for it :) they do the orders fast and they're so friendly when we do an order for pick-up. As for the concerns about price, everything in the greater Seattle area is expensive. Start by skewering your landlord, not the Teryaki joint in a strip mall. As for the 'Fox News on TV' complaint, get a life already. If you are walking in the Mukilteo Rite Aid or QFC parking lot, you'll usually smell the delicious aroma of the meat skewers cooking on their grill. That will draw you into this place. Mukilteo is blessed with lots of options when it comes to Teriyaki food. Each has their own unique dish that is the best. For Miako, that dish are the teriyaki beef skewers. These are wonderfully marinated in a slightly sweet sauce and grilled perfectly on a wooden skewer. The skewers are placed on a giant bed of rice. My only complaint is that I was left wanting more meat skewers to go along with all the rice I had left over. So for that, order a double portion of meat when you get this dish. This has been the go-to teriyaki place for me and my Muk friends since we were teenagers. The chicken is always perfectly on point. The spicy variety isn't too different from the regular, but it's still somehow tastier and worth the extra cents. I've actually never eaten in the restaurant but it's always clean and cozy. Everything I've ever tried has been good and just what you're craving - fried rice, bulgogi, gyoza, sautéed veggies - but, as you can tell from the other reviews, the shining star is the teriyaki chicken. I've been going here for about ten years and have never had bad service. If you're nice to the folks working there, they'll be nice to you. Sad to say I won't return to this business, since customers retention doesn't seem to be important. I had ordered a combo teriyaki chicken and prawn tempura, I got chicken teriyaki and grilled shrimp instead. I brought it back to woman and explained I received the wrong order. I also ordered 2 other entrees that were correct. She said I ordered the prawn combo, I continued to say I literally pointed at a picture of the combo right next to her when I ordered, asking for the prawn tempura combo. She sat there and continued to say that was what I ordered. Never attempted to rectify her error and let me walk away with the large incorrect order. Never again. You can dine in but mind you it is a bit of a small space, however they do have things fairly spaced out for social distancing. I eat a lot of Teriyaki places and this one was towards the bottom as far as quality goes. And very expensive. Everything was $14 or $19. I had the chicken and prawns. The chicken was granular like freezer burnt maybe? Wasn't juicy and soft. When you stuck your fork in it on the rice it actually broke in half and did not stick to the fork. Weird texture when chewing and an off seasoning flavor of some kind. Next I had the prawns. Overcooked and dry and crunchy. They just snapped in your mouth when you bit down on them. The rice was delicious and so was the water. The salad was just normal cheap store-bought white lettuce no green. I would not come back here because of the high price and the low quality. So, the strip right above where my company is located, Mukilteo Speedway, has at least four different teriyaki joints. It's hard to know which one to choose when you're in the mood for this tasty treat, but I opted to try Teriyaki Miako 2 because a) it didn't have the word "sushi" in its name, and b) it's conveniently located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. What can I say? I am getting old and like convenience. ;) I was a little put off when I entered and scoped the menu. Many items were misspelled (I know I shouldn't judge the food based on this - it was more comical than anything else), and the pictures weren't particularly appetizing. But, I was pleasantly surprised to see yakisoba on the menu. I went with a combination of teriyaki chicken and gyoza. Service was prompt and friendly. The food portion was generous, although I did notice that you have to pay an extra $0.25 for a very small container of teriyaki sauce. The gyoza were not my favorite...they were soft and not crispy, so that's a meh. But the chicken itself was okay. The plate came with a side salad (which I never eat, because I can't stand that mayonnaise dressing...*shudders*). I'll go here again if I'm in a pinch, but I'll honestly probably try to find a better teriyaki joint in the area. After all, there are at least three other options! read more

Teriyaki chicken is the best. I don't understand the bad reviews. An order easily is enough for two. Grilled marinated thigh meat is a huge portion on top of a pile of rice. We ordered the spicy chicken, the regular chicken (which ended up being white meat only), the chicken yakisoba, and a side of gyozas. The price was a bit more than we were used to, but it was ok. The chicken breast was super flavorful, and all of us liked it the best from all three meals. It had a marinated, rub-type-flavor that was awesome! The yakisoba was very tasty, and we liked it better than other places since it was not sweet. The spicy chicken was barely spicy, but the charbroiled crust on pieces was tasty. When it comes to teriyaki, my experience has been it's pretty hard to mess it up. Well, tonight I had the misfortune of having what very well may be the worst teriyaki ever, and trust me, my mouth and stomach are well versed in teriyaki consumption. I was craving spicy tofu with vegetables and rice, and didn't see it on the menu. I simply asked the gentleman working (who I believe may be the owner) if it was available and he scoffed, telling me it was not a dish but he could just add hot sauce to their only tofu dish on the menu. Fair enough. In between phone calls, he rang me up and charged me for the hot sauce. Okay, whatever. My stomach didn't care at that point. While waiting, I noticed a plate on a table which had been barely touched and was simply left abandoned by it's purchaser. That was a red flag to me, and I wish I had seen it when I first walked in. The food came up 15 minutes later, and it was not enjoyable whatsoever. It was basically all chopped cabbage and carrot slivers, with about 6 pieces of tofu and 2 pieces of broccoli tossed in a watery, unsatisfying hot sauce. I literally used my chopsticks to dig through the tighty packed mass of shredded vegetables, hoping to unearth more tofu or at least a variety of vegetables underneath it. I was sorely mistaken. Ultimately, I was going to walk away after seeing the menu, but decided to give this place a chance. I wish I would've listened to my brain and let my feet do the walking. No one makes better chicken teriyaki than Miako. I've tried many other places for chicken teriyaki and Miako is the best. I've been coming here for pretty much 10+ years and this family joint has been consistent in making good teriyaki chicken. Call ahead and place your order and you'll have your food ready in 10-15 minutes. Also grab a punch card - 10 punches will get you I believe $10 off after your 10th purchase. Each teriyaki chicken meal comes with a good amount of chicken and rice as well as salad. 1 teriyaki sauce is included in the take out container but you can purchase more at the counter for around 25 cents. Coming from someone who strictly orders spicy chicken teriyaki, their spicy chicken is SO GOOD. What I like about Teriyaki Miako is that their chicken teriyaki comes from slabs of chicken - not random little mysterious bits. The chicken is served with a nice char with a dry rub spice. The spice is subtle at first and builds as you eat more. BEWARE: Don't underestimate the power of a building spice. I left with the spicy hiccups. Lunch Special vs. Regular Portion Size I work nearby and generally order from Miako's at least once a week. I'm always looking for the best value and decided to compare the lunch special to the regular portion size (pictures posted). The lunch special spicy chicken teriyaki (~$7) is about half the size of the regular portion (~$9). The good thing about the lunch special is that it is the perfect size to fill you up for lunch without going overboard with a food coma. However, I usually end up buying the regular size, so I can take home half for dinner. For two meals, $9 isn't that bad! Also, Miako's offers a frequent diner card or a punch card (They don't advertise it, but they are bright green and to the left of the register). After ordering 10 entrees, you get $5 off your next purchase. In the bigger scheme of things, $5 isn't that much considering that you are spending ~$80, but at least they reward their loyal customers! Note: The punch card can't be used with lunch specials. Bottom Line: Teriyaki Miako runs a little pricier than other teriyaki joints, but their teriyaki is worth the extra dollar with their yummy chicken. Order the regular size portions over the lunch specials if you want a meal for later, or you are feeling hungry! Be sure to pick up a frequent diner card and start collecting stamps. One of the first things I do when I move to a new place is scope out all the teriyaki places in my new neighborhood. This is essential as I'm convinced my body goes through withdrawal if I don't consume teriyaki at least once a week. With that said, this has been my go-to teriyaki joint since I moved to Mukilteo. I love their sauteed chicken with veggies which I always request spicy and their gyoza is awesome. Their spicy chicken is also a favorite but don't be fooled. It may look like the regular teriyaki chicken because they don't douse it in that glowing red hot sauce like most places do... but it does have a kick to it. They also get extra points by not forcing their customers to listen to that gawd awful adult contemporary / soft rock radio station that every other teriyaki place feels the need to play.
