Indy's newest Brazilian steakhouse needed a proper review, so I had to test it out. The place was packed, but we were able to be seated right away. The staff is outstanding. Extremely friendly and attentive. We got the full churasco experience. We got served corn fritters, mashed potatoes and bread with our meal. The menu is very beef forward. I think we got served 5-6 different steaks before we even saw anything else. Would have liked to see some more chicken and sausages on the floor. Opted for something different for New Year's Eve and had an early dinner. The ambiance/decor is new, modern and nicely designed. I like how the tables weren't on top of each; allowing you room to eat in peace and the gauchos/gauchos to move between the tables. Surprisingly, it wasn't as packed as I was thinking it would be, but still busy. The hostesses were friendly and very accommodating. I was happy to have been able to check my coat. Upon walking to the table, I noticed how clean the cold/hot bar was and how there was always one or two people tending to it; making sure it was replenished and presentable. I have to say this was my second time eating at a Brazilian steakhouse; both experiences were different. I was happy to be able to try this new one before the year ended and being within a month or so of it opening up. I took the liberty of reading a few reviews before going. Plus, I had gotten some feedback from friends who had already been. The good definitely outweighed the not so good. So let's get into the food. For this particular visit, I must say that the meats were a bit too salty. I'm going to say that out of, let's say, 15 choices, about a good 12 of the selected meats were heavily salty. The Pineapple was a great choice to balance out the saltiness. I do remember the House sirloin being bland; not a lick of seasoning. Even the scalloped potatoes, on the hot bar, were too salty. I did read a review where someone experienced the same thing. The gluten free cheese bread was delicious! It's best to eat them while hot. I feel the same for the mashed potatoes they bring out. I don't consume pork, but I discovered what appeared to me to have been some type of candied bacon and I had filled up! lol!!! It was salty, sweet and crunchy all at the same time!!! The service started out a bit shaky. We were seated and it seemed to have taken a while before the gauchos made their way to our table. It appeared that the Gauchos (meat handlers) were more attentive to larger parties than couples when being first seated. We were just sitting and watching them go to other tables that were close by. We even made sure our cards were turned to the right side. But once one game, then we were in the rotation. Our server(s) went over and above making sure we had a memorable experience. They made up for that tiny window of feeling unseen. Andrew & Washington were attentive and accommodating. I inquired about any warm veggies. The chef made me some sautéed asparagus with fried garlic gloves. Chef's kiss!!! I'm open to dining again and looking forward to seeing some improvement with the meats. I know it's not an everyday thing because I know of others who have dined afterwards and they didn't experience the same. I could've easily just had that and been content, because YUMMMM. But let's not kid ourselves, we came for the meat party and a party was had. Cuzzo and I tried EVERYTHING! I don't usually care for Sangria but this one has bourbon mixed in with the red wine and some other things. For me, It is how sangria should have always been. As amazing as the food and drink were, the staff is EVEN better. The hostess, our wait staff, the guys serving the meats...the manager stopped by to check on us as well and he is an absolute doll also. The servers were great also as well as the supporting staff. The restaurant manager came by to ask us how are service and experience was so far which is the sign of an excellent restaurant. I found the service at Terra Guacha to be friendly, but not as polished at its competitor. The steak was good, but again, if I were to compare... the sides ( mashed potatoes, fried polenta, Brazilian cheese biscuits) were also hot as good as the original-- they tasted like a budget, pre-prepared version. The ambiance differed from its downtown competitor by offering a brighter more modern twist instead of the dark wood and black aesthetic that we all are used to. I'm going to start off this review by saying I've been a loyal customer of Fogo de Chão for years, however, the last experience I had there made me explore my horizon giving me the opportunity to come across Terra Gaucha. My husband and I, having nothing to do this afternoon 12/19/24, decided to dine at Terra Gaucha for the first time since opening and I couldn't be happier with my experience. Our experience started with being greeted by our waitress and GM Ronaldo Chiesa. Our waitress explained how their Brazilian steakhouse experience works and asked if we've been before then proceeded to bring us fried bananas, bread and mashed potatoes. We started off by ordering two sodas and began picking items from the hot and cold table including; bread, pasta salad, chicken salad, shrimp, zucchini and a mini wedge salad. All items were pretty tasty, however, the pasta salad could have used a tad more flavor. I was very impressed with the quality of cuts and how lean they were. The filet was so tender it could be cut with a fork and the taste compared to that of a $300 filet. I was also unaware they have pineapple which tasted more of a sweet dessert which was the best pineapple I've ever had. My favorite cut was the filet wrapped in bacon and the shrimp. This steakhouse also has samon for those that would rather have seafood. If I could give this steakhouse a rating of a 10/10 I would. The seating inside is perfect as it wraps around the hot/cold table giving the feel of privacy. There is a large wine selection, however, we're not alcohol consumers, therefore we didn't try anything. I highly recommend everyone to at least try it! The restaurant itself is very pretty. The hot/cold bar has a wide variety of offerings... the grilled pineapple is delicious! Service was very attentive (quick to offer a clean plate, refill water, etc...) and the Rodizio was excellent. The bacon wrapped chicken was moist and delicious. I was looking forward to lamb chops and they did not disappoint. If the waiter did not have the desired temperate that you wanted on his skewer, he would quickly come back with what you wanted. I called ahead of time asking how long the wait would be, and I was told it would be only a 10-15 minute wait, and I could put my name down on the waitlist to keep my spot. I was very upset that it took almost 1.5 hours before we were seated. Other than the wait, the food was good. I highly recommend the shrimp, picanha, and fried cheese with honey. The lobster bisque and cornbread are a must try at the hot and cold tables. The servers were very nice, and the food keeps coming so you're never waiting too long. However, our waiter kept forgetting to bring our drinks. We were given two complimentary desserts, which was very nice. I highly recommend the crème brûlée and would pass on the chocolate lava cake in the future. Just FYI, the restaurant gets very loud and the seats are really close to each other. This was our stop for an early Sunday dinner. The place was very inviting and the staff was very hospitable. The salad bar is definitely top tier! As far as the food go some steaks could have been seasoned a bit more for my liking. I would suggest medium well for any folks who prefer well done. Some of the well done meats were completely dry...But as for the chicken, shrimp, NY strip, lamb chops and grilled pineapple that was by far my favorite! You'll definitely go home fulfilled for sure. They also have an amazing Keylime pie if you have room for dessert ... or just take a slice to go. So I really liked this place! It's much better than the other one downtown (fogo!) There are many lamb options. There aren't so many pork options. There were many options that kept coming around so fast. The service was impeccable. It was hard to keep up with eating and receiving. We did have to track someone down to refill our waters. The salad bar is great. The vibe is nice and they have a more private area off to the side. With a reservation we still had to wait about 15 min. Wow we were so impressed with this restaurant from start to finish. I took my husband here for his birthday lunch around noon on a Wednesday. They weren't too busy for lunch, but I'm sure they fill up more for dinner times. The space is intimate and classy and well decorated. We did the full lunch experience which was only about $40 a person. This includes full use of the salad bar + endless meats. The salad bar was impressive with cold + hot options, all very fresh. The meats were all cooked soooo good. Something I noticed was this place also brings out seafood options like shrimp and salmon (Fogo does not). I also want to add the service was outstanding. We were leaving town after having a wonderful holiday weekend. We stopped into this Brazilian restaurant that just blew me away. I found out they had only been open for 12 days. Packed and staff just working in concert to provide excellent service. Their sign language had drink orders almost immediately upon order. First time coming to Terra Gaucha to indulge in fire roasted Brazilian steaks. From walking in to walking out, our experience was delightful. The hostess at the main lobby desk took our winter coats to store during our meal. We were promptly sat and then greeted by our waiter, Luis. Luis explained how the Brazilian steakhouse experience worked and was informative. The restaurant itself was modern but was in terms of ambiance. It was inviting and very cleanly designed. You could see the gauchos walking around offering all kinds of cuts of beef/lamb/chicken/pork, they even had sausage and salmon too. The market table was jam packed with all different types of veggies, cheese, appetitive food which were absolutely delicious. We ordered an espresso martini and a traditional caipirinha which were well crafted and delicious to sip on during our carnivorous feast of meats. As soon as we flipped over our cards to "Yes", we were swarmed by some approachable and friendly gauchos. They asked us what kind of temperature we wanted our steak and if we requested a specific cut of meat, they would promptly have another gaucho come to our table. Honestly all the steak options were delicious. We were also impressed with the shrimp, bacon wrapped chicken, lamb chops, and the cinnamon brown sugar pineapple was delicious. Honestly everyone there made us feel at home and Luis was fantastic. We went for a birthday and we tried out the Brazilian flan and it was tasty. My fiancée stated that it was the best flan that she had ever had. I could keep rambling on and on but before I stop, I will say, Terra Gaucha is miles ahead of another well known Brazilian steakhouse in the area. I would give it 10 stars if i could!! Rodrigo and Cici were amazing!! Heck everybody was!! They keep it coming and didnt stop. Everybody was so nice and greeted you with a smile. At the end of a strip mall with plenty of parking. Not only did they not stop but everything was hot, flavorful, and beautiful. The other spot downtown does not compare, this place is what i was expecting from the competition. The food was hot, the service was exceptional as they covered my purse and kept checking on us, and the buffet was stocked. There was never an empty dish in the buffet and i didn't need to wait till they restocked the buffet for anything. I already hate having to get up and serve myself, the other place I've been to they hardly had anything and items that were supposed to be hot were cold. My drinks were made well. This is new restaurant in Castleton very similar to the other gaucho Brazilian steakhouse downtown. It is bright, clean and open. It has a nice salad bar with lots of choices and lobster bisque as the soup, which was very tasty! My only issue was, it would be good to label some of the dishes on the bar. The hosts and staff are friendly and are quick to help and answer any questions you might have. It's new so there are bound to be some learning curves. There is a little bit of chaos in how the meats are brought around and in getting new plates brought to you as well as getting the sides of the bananas, potatoes and rolls replaced. I am not sure if you are supposed to only get one serving or if they are supposed to be replaced. The Brazilian lemonade is more tangy than I was expecting, but that could be a personal preference. Otherwise, it was a pleasant experience. We went for lunch and it filled up quickly. I think it will continue to be a good attraction for the area and it is nice to have another choice. read more

Terra Gaucha hands down the best service in the city! Our server EMJAY! Was really amazing. She really cared about our experience and was very good at anticipating needs and also accommodating us. We sat outside, which is covered and at first had the screen-shades up. When she realized there were little gnat flies around she tried to fix the problem by offered to lower the shades. Which actually did help. She explained how the process worked (very similar to Fogo) and also explained the options very well without trying to up-sale us drinks that we didn't want. Overall, the food was good. But the service we received from Emjay was beyond spectacular. We really enjoyed her and had so much fun with her. read more

Visited on Christmas for dinner. Every single person working here is incredible. They're friendly, warm, and very accommodating. We have absolutely 0 complaints about service. It was as if the restaurant wasn't busy at all (it was so busy!). There is plenty of space between tables to walk around, thankfully. The reason for three stars is honestly because we thought the food was just okay. The meats are good, but WAY salty. The cold bar was a bit lacking, but the things we got were just fine; nothing really stood out as amazing. Great hearts of palm, though!
