Terra has been around for a while, and it used to be a staple of our date night restaurants. However in my 3 recent visits, things have declined almost every time. #1 the menu is boring, most entrees just aren't appealing. Although the pizza is good, there are numerous places (in the area) that have a better pie. #2 Although I am very sympathetic towards staffing issues, the service is pathetic. What has been frustrating is there is plenty of staff, they just appear to be aimlessly doing nothing as we sit for 45+ minutes for a drink and pizza #3 if you are going to advertise higher class cocktails on your menu, either make sure they actually taste good, or the bartender is qualified to make it. My wife and I both tried the beet margarita. It was horrendous, literally tasted like someone was just filling my mouth with lemon juice (not even lime). Until this place is whipped back into shape, I wouldn't waste my hard earned money there. read more

Giving it 2 stars due to the level of service...server was dismissive and rarely was around to check on our food, fill water, coffee and drinks. Terra has been one of my favorite restaurants in Grand Rapids for years. We ordered takeout kale Cesar salad today and clearly, whoever made our food was not wearing a hat. I picked out a hair from my mouth, then while checking the rest of the salad, found another. Long, blond/ light brown hair. Until Terra learns sanitary food handling, I won't be back and suggest to everyone else to consider this before they do. Yum yum yum! As a Grand Rapids visitor, I will definitely be recommending Terra to others whenever they're in the area. The restaurant is located on a corner and is right around the corner from a cupcake shop (yum, again). The interior is beautiful - nice date night or family dinner location. We grabbed lunch on a Thursday and there were very few people in the restaurant. The place did start filling up as we were eating, though! I ordered the herbed chicken sandwich. I highly recommend this sandwich to anyone who likes chicken salad! The sweet cherries and the herbs on the chicken make for a sweet and savory combination. The bread is soft and pairs quite nicely with the chicken and lettuce. I subbed in the pesto pasta salad ($3 extra) and it was sooo worth it. It was fresh and flavorful. Found multiple HAIRS in my food:/ I first had to wait 45 minutes for a salad. Then safely after the first few bites I found a hair bundles in the salad. I showed my waitress informing her of the problem and she only suggested they make it again (no mention of the bill). I kept it :/. I continued to eat it and found two more!! I had to give it back (still with no mention of the bill)! I finally had to talk to the manager for them to make it on the house. So glad we decided to check out this place for dinner! Came in at the right time for happy-hour, just before the dinner rush. The staff was friendly and welcoming and got a table with a nice open view of the interior. Their happy hour menu offers $12 pizzas and $2 off MI craft draft beers, that's such a deal! We ordered the Wood-Fired Mushroom pizza with evoo, chef's blend mushrooms, roasted garlic, goat cheese, kale, hand-pulled mozz, sarvecchio, and cracked black pepper = amazing. The second pizza we ordered was the OLIVE w/tomato sauce, pepperoni, olive tapenade, blue cheese, hand-pulled mozzarella... just as delicious. The nature rise from the crust and melty mozz really set the bar up there for wood-fired pizzas. For next time, I'll probs order the FENNEL SAUSAGE w/ garden pesto, roasted garlic, red onion, hand-pulled mozzarella, and sarvecchio. Service was on point, the ambiance of the place was perfect. I Ordered the Pesto Bucatini. The flavor was excellent. My personal pref would be for a lighter pasta but it was al dente and held the pesto well. The cider flight was OK, the star was the Farmhaus Crushable, Hudsonville, MI made with cucumber and apple. Light and delish. I am a regular patron of Terra. Love this place and I am a member of the "Kale Caesar Cult" The Caesar is one of my favorites ever. Love, love, love it! They massage the kale- to make it soft and not tough. It's got a great creamy- yet light dressing. Perfection. The bartenders are always friendly and willing to make a crafted cocktail. My favorite is the beet Mimosa. So delicious! Today I'm drinking "The Runaway" a delicious vodka concoction. 10/10 I pretty much always order the same thing here, but the Pizzas are amazing. I'm a huge fan of the mushroom pizza. Crispy, classic, medium thickness of the crust, and epic cheese pull with great truffle flavored mushrooms. The pastas are homemade and also something I thoroughly enjoy. They validate parking for you in the adjacent lot and I think the food prices are completely fair. I usually come here for lunch, but Terra does an excellent brunch and I've had great dinners here too! My friends have raved about the epic "Burger of the week" an always changing item. terra had a super cute vibe that was inviting. i absolutely love that they have local farm to table sourcing and supporting our local farmers! (from lowell to zeeland and in between!) i enjoyed the bbq chicken pizza and was super satisfied, honestly goat cheese and pickles onions... i'm in! my friend and i made it to happy hour that was from 4-6pm and had the terra 75 - super easy and fresh gin drink! the vibe was laid back and the bathroom was super representative of the old space. i would recommend for those who have specific palettes for fresh food. there is mostly street parking, you can make reservations as well! try terra, you won't be disappointed read more

The look and decor of the restaurant is very modern feeling and the atmosphere is great -- the music is not too loud, the seating arrangements are great, and the kitchen area is right out in the restaurant which gives a fun feel. The restaurant is very clean and the waitstaff is very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Thomas was our waiter and we received top notch service. They have some great happy hour food deals, half off large salads, $12 pizzas (which looked so delicious), $2 off hummus and more! We got the hummus to start with and would highly recommend. It has unique delicious flavor and came with both veggies for dipping as well as garlic bread crostini which was so crispy and yummy. The only disappointment that we had was our salads. Both my husband and I ordered the Gazelle and were not pleased with the taste. It had a really strange kick to it and the flavors just weren't working -- perhaps it was just a preference thing. They did a great job on tossing the salad, all was covered in the dressing and it was a good portion size and there were great ratios of the veggies mixed in the salad, we just did not like the flavor of it. I came here for happy hour. The menu with happy hour specials was a little limited but still had some great options. The Terra 75 was delicious!!! For an entree I had the seared salmon which was cooked to absolute perfection! The flovors of the dish all went very nicely together was overall very satisfying. Dinner at Terra has to be one of the best dinners I've experienced in my hometown in quite some time. Terra could do no wrong in the kitchen or with the service that day. Everything was truly solid all around and we will be back because we want more! To start, we ordered a dish that was slated to be an entrée. It sounded so good when the waiter described it that we had to have it as an appetizer. It was a generous portion of grits that were smooth and silky but still had the grit texture, layered with some delicious fall off the bone roasted meat and a sauce that just screamed wow! We were starting off right. As Terra is a farm to table concept and my review is a week old in writing I'm not sure the name of the dish but it was one of those dishes you either made it in for or you missed it. Now we move onto the dinner entrees. Our table had the duck! So tender, so much flavor through the entire dish. We also had two pasta dishes and those were both outstanding. Definitely a nice touch that the pasta was made in house. With my pasta dish I ordered a side of the salmon filet. This chunk of salmon was cooked to perfection. Crisp and again much flavor but tender and juicy as all get out when cutting open and consuming! So far the Terra, you have done no wrong. So good! When dining at a place like this you need to indulge so we did by jumping all over head first into dessert. Now the desserts here aren't typical as in when they say pie its pie like but that really doesn't matter. It's all about the flavors. We had the blueberry compote, windmill cookie crust and cream cheese filling cheesecake. It was truly a delight to the taste buds. Also had a peanut butter fudge gooey thing a ma jig that was to die for to. Both desserts played well to share as it was a battle between sweet and slightly savory. As I said at the start Terra was a spectacular dining experience and when back in GR we will be back to indulge in more. So yes please we do have so much more to try! Keep up the good work! My friends got the breakfast pizza, which was really crispy & delicious, I heard it's a favorite. They also got the burrito & eggs 2 goat cheese. Everyone liked their meals and food came out at a reasonable time. We were also in early, because near the middle of our meal, someone ordered another kale salad and the waiter totally forgot or didn't put it in, but brought her the dressing for it. This review is for Terra's brunch! I went at about 1pm on a Sunday and there was no wait which was great. Parking can be a tiny bit tricky but on a Sunday I parked in the post office like most others and it was fine. I got a table with 2 friends right next to their kitchen which was pretty open and it was cool to see them cooking! Their breakfast pizza looked amazing, with hot hollandaise sauce poured on top, and it tasted even better! The perfect breakfast pizza perhaps. Their caramel apple cinnamon roll had little candied peanuts and little pieces of apple inside and it was perfect... and their mashed potato cakes were delicious as well!
