My friend and I were visiting Beantown having worked nearby on Milk Street 25 years ago. This spot is the place to eat if you're in the North End. It has been here for ages and the quality hasn't changed. I got the Linguine Alla Vongole and omg it was light, flavorful, perfectly cooked pasta noodles, and the clams -- could not be more fresh. My friend had the ravioli (vegan option) as per waiter suggestion and it looked so appetizing, she loved it. We also split the arugula salad with orange and fennel -- the dressing... wow. Pros: The food was very enjoyable! They had several vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options so I would recommend them for folks with any dietary needs. I split the mushroom gnocchi and mushroom risotto with a friend and found both to be very delicious! I also enjoyed their olive oil, hummus, and red pepper dip for the bread service. We sat outside and it felt lovely to watch the people moving about the busy streets. Cons: I believe the service could potentially be improved with a bit more politeness and attentiveness. The hostess appeared a bit annoyed by us when we arrived (to be fair, it did take us about a minute to decide if we wanted to sit inside or outside) and our server was hard to track down to get the bill and pay. We ended up using ApplePay because we were ready to leave and the server had not come to collect our cards yet. Small improvements to the service would've made this 5 stars! read more

We were unfortunately made to feel very uncomfortable by our waitress at this restaurant which ruined our experience. She was older and had mid length brown hair. I can't help but to think if she treated us like that because we were people of color. I had my family in from out of town and it was so embarrassing - we were so uncomfortable that we almost left. Here's what happened: We walked up and asked if there's a table for 5 around 7pm. We saw multiple empty tables inside and some empty tables on the patio. She says unfortunately there's no more tables for the night, they have some reservations, and closes the door on us. Then she comes back and seemingly changes her mind, and there's a large table for us by the window and she seats us. During our meal, the restaurant got even emptier as others were finishing their meals and leaving, so she was clearly lying. We are looking at the menus and she asks us what we want to drink. My cousin is looking at the wine list and thinking, and asks me a question. During this she clearly has an attitude. He says "is everything ok?" She says "well you're not answering me" with a VERY tense/angry tone and walks away from us mid sentence. It is very clear she doesn't want us there and pausing to decide on our wine is a problem for her. We were all dead silent after realizing in real time what is happening, and our entire table is uncomfortable. By the way, the wine list was sitting on the windowsill, so we didn't see it at first. So yes, it took us a few mins to look at the menu. Another person working there came over and made some conversation with us and she was so nice. That honestly diffused the situation because I was so embarrassed and was about to walk up and ask for the manager. The older woman with the medium length brown hair didn't come back to our table, maybe she no longer wanted to serve us. I saw her standing in the back near the bar talking and eventually she left. The nicer woman took our orders and everything was fine after that. That first woman does NOT need to be working in a customer service facing job. read more

Had dinner at Terramia last night and our experience was very different from other Yelpers. Let's start with the good: the ambiance outside was great and everyone was friendly. The not-so-great: there aren't enough staff so it took forever to get everything...menus, to place our order, to get bread (we asked at least 4 times). Our food took at least 45 minutes and when it came it wasn't really worth the wait. Pasta was undercooked and the salad was lacking seasoning. The side of potatoes was decent but many pieces were burned and not edible. Maybe we just came on an off day but this wasn't enjoyable for us and we wouldn't return. read more

Found this place in Little Italy area. Was a tiny place maybe 6-8 tables for dining but the food was homemade and great. We started with the Lobster Fritter I really liked the fritter and the fried sweet potato and leek next, the balsamic tho Just didn't go. I wish they had something bright maybe like a lemon sauce? Next I got the pappardelle and my guest got the short rib ravioli. The short rib ravioli with mushroom sauce was super heavy sauce for the meat. It was good but very very rich. The pappardelle when I first got it I thought it seemed like so little but after eating it was plentiful. Also rich but a nice balance. They came with these homemade rolls not warm but seemed to bake that day and you just got 1 per person. I tried their Espresso Martini and I wish they did a dusting of cocoa on top would balance it out great. We got the bread pudding and tiramisu for dessert and they were both just ok. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was decent overall. However, I feel it's important to share my experience for anyone with celiac disease or a gluten allergy. My sister and I both informed our server that we have a gluten allergy. She ordered the gluten-free pasta with bolognese and had no issues. I ordered the gluten-free gnocchi with mushrooms, which was marked as gluten-free on the menu. Unfortunately, I became extremely sick afterward with symptoms consistent with gluten exposure. I haven't had a gluten reaction in a very long time, so this was both unexpected and disappointing. Whether it was a mix-up in the kitchen, cross-contamination, or the dish itself not actually being gluten-free, I can't say for certain. But based on my experience, I would urge anyone with celiac disease or a serious gluten allergy to exercise caution when ordering the gluten-free gnocchi. It's unfortunate because the service was good, but getting sick was not the ending I had hoped for on my Boston trip. read more

Terraria never disappoints. It's a cozy place with a European feel and excellent food. I especially love the Bolognese and arancini, but the short rib ravioli I had for my last visit was amazing. We had a lovely birthday dinner at Terramia. The service and atmosphere made for an incredible evening, even with the North End bustling on an early Saturday night. With a reservation, we were warmly greeted by the hostess and seated minutes to our appointed time. Our server was wonderful; attentive, pleasant, and thoughtful throughout the evening. Our outdoor table was comfortable. The setting was delightful. I was so happy we were accommodated outside as inside, the noise level was high. The food arrived quickly and piping hot. My partner ordered a short rib ravioli special recommended by our server. My partner thought was ok, nothing memorable. I had the vongole pasta, which came in a flavorful, spicy tomato broth. The clams were briny and delicious, though I would have loved much more pasta to soak up all that great broth. The total with tip for two entrees, one cocktail, two wines was 166.00. Went here for the dine out Boston menu. It was $46 for an appetizer, entree, and dessert. Got the arancini for my appetizer, it was good but tried some of the meatball which was amazing!!! For dinner got the vegan ravioli. It was delicious and filling. Their red sauce it very flavorful and not too heavy. The Tiramisu for dessert was delicious that we didn't have time to take a photo. Service: even though Kerri had 12 tables 11 inside and one out on the patio she was an absolute pro. Never got frazzled, good recommendations and funny stories about her industry. Food: fantastic, white bean, olive oil and chili pepper spread with fresh bread to start was really tasty. I would however recommend the bread warmed up will add an even better flavor. Arugula salad, simple tasty, fresh fennel and orange wedges punched it up. Gnocchi ala fungi - run don't walk. Top choice for the mushroom lovers. Spaghetti cabanera - also very good, I would have loved the pancetta a bit crispier but the pasta was SPOT ON. Wine selection very nice with all our favorites by the bottle and glass. Well done. Just sorry it took so long to get here. Did I mention we walked in when at 7:05 when nearly every other restaurant in the Northend was quoting a 9:15 first available. Title: A Colossal Disaster. If this is Antico Forno's sister restaurant, we are in serious trouble. I know and love Antico Forno--it's one of my absolute go-to spots in Boston. Relying on that stellar reputation, my partner and I decided to finally try "Terra Mia" this past Sunday, thinking we were in for a guaranteed great meal. Snagging a free table felt like a stroke of luck. It turned out to be the beginning of a gastronomic and managerial nightmare. We were seated outside and kept the order simple: two glasses of prosecco, an order of arancini, a caprese salad, and a pasta alla bolognese. The arancini arrived after 10 minutes and tasted good. Then, absolute radio silence. We were left abandoned for over 30 minutes with dirty plates literally rotting on our table. The waiter? Completely MIA. Zero customer care, zero check-ins. When the rest of our food finally surfaced, we were treated to an embarrassing amateur show: the runner/busser started arguing with our waiter right in front of us because the dishes had been mapped to the wrong table. In the chaotic scramble to clear the old plates, they managed to drop my girlfriend's fork on the ground. We asked for a replacement fork for the caprese and a spoon for the pasta. Another 10 minutes pass. Nothing. We had to wait for the busser to loop back and ask how things were just to point out that, without silverware, we were reduced to just staring at our food. Then came the pasta. One bite was an absolute shock: the Bolognese was an aggressive, overpowering garlic bomb. It tasted like nothing but garlic--a total insult to the traditional recipe. Completely inedible, left untouched. At the peak of my frustration, I expressed my negative review of both the abysmal service and the pasta to the busser, demanding to speak with a manager. The response was a total joke: "The server is by himself, there is no manager to speak with, and nobody has ever complained about our Bolognese." A pathetic excuse. It is completely unacceptable for a restaurant to operate on a Sunday night without a single supervisor or authoritative figure on the floor. As I was venting about this absurdity to my girlfriend, the host overheard us and walked over. I re-explained the entire situation, asking yet again for a manager. Same story: nobody is here tonight. Instead, in a move of breathtaking uselessness, she decided to introduce me to Mr. Luca--a 94-year-old gentleman sitting by the entrance who happens to know the owner. With all due respect to his age, what exactly was that supposed to solve for me? The grand finale arrived with the check. They had removed the untouched pasta (thank minimum decency for that), but had magically doubled the caprese salad, charging us for two instead of one. After pointing out the literal final mistake of the night, they removed it. Paid $77, leaving a $5 cash tip (which was incredibly generous given the psychological exhaustion of the ordeal). A horrific, amateurish experience that mirrors a management style completely asleep at the wheel. Antico Forno is in another galaxy. I will never set foot in Terra Mia again. read more

They also serve a complimentary bread and sauce appetizer the sauce was tasty, though the bread seemed a bit stale so not great. The vibe of the place is very cozy they even have a nice terrace. I began with an Aperol Spritz that was just what I needed. It was refreshing and lightly sweet. While we perused the menu bread was delivered to our table. I was pleasantly surprised by the dip that accompanied the bread. It was a purée of seasoned beans and spicy oil. So good! For my main I chose the lamb osso bucco. It was tender and so flavorful. Along side were generous servings of delicious, creamy polenta and fresh spinach. For dessert I had the flourless cake. Lovely ending to the meal. I wished they served coffee or hot tea, because either would have been a nice compliment. read more
