Casarecce was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. My husband and I split a Caesar salad to start--crisp, cold, and perfectly dressed, just the way it should be. For entrées, my husband had the veal parmigiana and couldn't stop talking about how tender it was--easily one of the best pieces of veal he's ever had. I ordered the chicken pink vodka casarecce, and it was incredible. The sauce was rich, silky, and full of flavor, and the chicken was cooked perfectly. Within five minutes of sitting down, our server was already pushing us to order food and drinks. We felt rushed the entire time. After we finished eating, we waited patiently to get our server's attention to order another round of drinks. Stopped here because the place down the street was too busy to walk in. This a charming little restaurant that was easy to walk in on a weekday around 6:30 PM. I was greeted right away and sat by the window. The ceaser was good, but nothing extraordinary about it. Same with the meatballs, pretty good but I was left expecting something better. The veal almafi was very good, although the spinach may be a little over powering for some as it almost overpowered the veal and cheese. On our North End quest, this was stop #4 but moved to #1 on our rankings. Very tiny place with squished seating but we didn't mind our two person table at the wall. Our server was quick and very sweet. We ordered eggplant modugnese and burrata for apps, lobster ravioli and lamb ragu for dinner, all 10/10. Appetizers were great portions but still very light. Lamb ragu had their name brand pasta shape and a generous portion of meat. I am a lobster ravioli connoisseur and I absolutely loved this. It might even be a little higher than the place I love back home. Their sauce was incredible. I wish it had a bigger portion I wanted more when I was done. I would definitely recommend this place! We visited this restaurant with my girlfriends a few months back. We were visiting Boston and decided to go have dinner and didn't expect all the restaurants to be so packed! This one gave us a 20 min waiting and our server was so nice! He knew we were waiting and he made everybody possible for us to sit as soon as possible. As soon as we sit, we shared a bottle of wine and ordered some fried calamari's to start. Calamari was ok, they also gave some bread and was also ok. We ordered some pasta to share because we did realize plates were pretty big. We had the Spaghetti Fruto di Mare which was delicious! Really, really good! And the Pappadelle Bolognese which is a classic and it was good. The ambiance was busy and a little noisy but again, it was a weekend dinner time so it makes sense in a busy street. My girlfriend and I had a SPECTACULAR anniversary dinner at Casarecce in the North End. The service was fantastic throughout the night and the food was to die for. We made a reservation and were seated right away at a cute table for two. The venue is quite small and it feels like you are in Italy. We started off with fresh bread and oil which was fantastic. We ordered the burrata appetizer as well which came atop prosciutto and was garnished with balsamic vinegar and tomato. The prosciutto was some of the best I have ever had - so flavorful and fresh. The burrata was great as well with the bread and oil, can't go wrong there. For my main course I got my favorite chicken parmigiana which was fantastic - the marinara sauce was so fresh and flavorful, and had a perfect consistency. It was my first time trying casarecce pasta and it was so good, cooked perfectly al dente just how I like it. The chicken parm itself was glorious as well, and the cheese on top was a perfect addition. My girlfriend ordered an oil pasta dish which came with sausage and broccoli, hers was fantastic and she loved it. For dessert, we celebrated with chocolate lava cake paired with vanilla gelato, it was some of the best I've had in a while. I would highly recommend casarecce if you are looking for an amazing dining experience that feels like you are in Milan. What a beautiful restaurant! Do not try to do a walk on a weekend, we had a reservation and we still had to wait (it has very limited seating so it makes sense that you'd have a to wait a little bit). They brought you bread with Parmesan and EVOO, nothing special and the bread for the bruschetta was very thick and not as toasted as we would have liked. Now onto the entrees, we got Chicken Parmigiana (chicken perfectly fried and the pasta was perfectly cooked), lobster ravioli (good portion and the sauce was garlicky and delicious), chicken vodka and chicken risotto. I didn't try the last 2, but the people who ate it really liked it. I wont dock points for the parking situation as nearly all of downtown Boston suffers from the same issue. I started with the calamari which was some of the best calamari I have ever had. Fresh, good batter, and the marinara was tasty and warm. The lasanga was light, flavorful and just the right portion size. The service was friendly and fast as well. This place is such a great hidden gem. There can't be more than 10 tables in the place and they are close together - however, you work with what you got. My boyfriend and I stopped here before a Bruins game and the vibes are immaculate with great people watching. We had gorgeous weather last week so they had the door and windows open. Bread came out and we ordered our drinks. We ordered the meatballs for our appetizer and they were so tender and had a lovely taste to them. He ordered the carbonara and I got the chicks Parmesan. Their pasta is really lovely and the chicken was pounded so thin. Honestly, amazing. Their sauce is really good too. For dessert, I got the volcano cake and it's different than others I've had as it has a rich layer of ganache/almost like pudding covering the cake; very yummy too. It was completely gone. The service was a little odd as I wasn't sure who we needed to ask for things - it just seemed a little disjointed and got a little loud near the end of the meal when people were chatting so I think our server didn't hear us at first when we asked for the check which isn't his fault by any means but just something I'm noting. It was about $100 for 2 people with appetizer, sodas, 2 mains, a dessert which I think is solid for the North End and also an amazing meal that I don't regret paying for. That's always the worst when you shell out money for a bad meal! However, I'll be back, 10/10 recommend, and I'm still thinking about that chicken parm. read more

We went to Casarecce on a friend's recommendation, who cited it as their favorite restaurant. I am really wondering after eating there, "Did they mean to send us somewhere else?" Like other North End restaurants, the restaurant is super tiny. We were fortunate that the restaurant was only half-full at 6:30 on a Wednesday (maybe this should have been a clue because everywhere else looked packed?), since table are only about 6" apart. Service was friendly and efficient, so this seemed like a good start. Food, however, was so-so to terrible! We ordered the meatball appetizer, carbonara, and chicken vodka. The meatball (portion of 3) and sauce were essentially room temperature and completely under-seasoned. It was accompanied by a very garlicky toast, which I liked. A small basket of bread also came to the table. This was the hardest, saddest bread that they should have truly been embarrassed to serve. The pasta portions were huge - I imagine perhaps a draw for families with little kids - and very rich. The carbonara was nicely peppery. The chicken vodka was awful with way too much sauce and containing pees that had the dull color and off-putting taste of canned peas. Overall, a huge "NEVER AGAIN" for me. read more

Before booking the reservation I called and had an extensive conversation with the staff about ingredients and preparation. They were so kind and patient during the call, clarifying with the kitchen along the way. We came in for lunch and were a larger group with multiple children. They were great with all of us. The only small knock was, when one of the kids accidentally spilled their drink, the staff did not initially provide us with extra napkins to clean up. We did not expect staff to clean up our mess, but after going back and forth from the bathroom they finally gave us some extra supplies. Now to why you're here - the food. It was delicious. I ordered some of the big pasta with grilled chicken and broccoli with just olive oil and garlic. Had such a nice meal here, as they were unexpectedly able to see our party of two since we came in later in the night. We were sat in the cutest little two top at the restaurant in the nook of the window directly facing the street, giving us a bird eye view to people watch and protecting us from the chilly air and giving a sense of privacy from the rest of the noise. The place was decorated so nicely and only had about 10 tables, keeping the vibe intimate. Juan, our server, was super friendly and helpful, giving his honest opinion and recommendations on each of the dishes we inquired about. He brought out bread with olive oil and Parmesan cheese to start us off, so fresh and delicious. We almost got the burrata appetizer but went with the chicken Parm spring rolls at his recommendation, since they were relatively new to the menu and so unique, something we couldn't get anywhere else. They were pretty yummy, I'm not the biggest fan of fried egg roll style dishes, but the flavor was there and the marinara sauce for dipping was seasoned so perfectly. I didn't have any drinks, but my friend had the lemon drop martini and was raving about it. For dinner, we decided to share the pesto gnocchi and the lobster ravioli. Juan warned us that the pesto gnocchi was not as flavorful as some gnocchi in other restaurants due to them being a nut free restaurant, but said they add a creamy component to the texture that gives it a special flare. He was not wrong. Although it wasn't the best tasting pesto, I've had, the texture was delicious - I could have even used a pinch more creaminess! We added some shrimp on top, these were cooked perfectly, but overall we added a little salt and pepper to the dish to enhance the flavor once at our table. The lobster ravioli was absolutely perfect. I had a similar dish the night before at another restaurant in the north end during my trip and this one completely took the cake. The sauce was 10 times better and the flavors were so potent and aromatic. We shared the tiramisu after, which wasn't made the traditional Ladyfinger way that I'm used to, but was still yummy and light, the cake had a mousse-like texture that made it not too heavy after such a filling meal. For our last night in Boston, we headed to Little Italy. Casarecce was our choice. On Saturday night, the area was busy so I'm glad we made a reservation beforehand. Casarecce is a cozy place with lots of tables in one room. Staff worked together well to bus tables quickly and get their guests seated as quickly as possible. Despite the bustle of the place, once you have your table, sit back and enjoy and no one rushes you. I chose the Casarecce chicken vodka entree. It was delicious. I loved the noodles and lightness of the sauce. It came with a ton of chicken. Portions are large and sharable if you want a smaller portion. We made reservations online and were promptly seated upon arrival, even though all of North End was quite busy due to the ongoing Saint Anthony's Feast. Unlike last time, our server this day was incredibly attentive, professional, and helpful. He took our order in a timely manner and checked in on us throughout the evening. The food is the best part of this restaurant. We ordered the Lamb Ragu and Pappardelle Alfredo, and they were just as amazing as the other dishes we had tried previously. Pasta was perfectly chewy and al dente. We especially loved the Pappardelle Alfredo, which was savory and rich without feeling heavy.
