I love this place!!! The staff is super friendly and helpful, the food is delicious and the DJ mixes it up just right. I cannot extend enough platitudes to this establishment. I attended for a corporate event but I learn that it's live all the time! Do yourself a favor and book a party at the Terrapins Turf, it never disappoints!

50 cent wings are not worth it:/

Ehhh- I was not impressed with this place at all. We came here because they were having wings for 50 cents each. Also, they had long islands for $5.00. The inside of the bar smelled really bad, so we decided to eat outside. The outside seating area was relaxing and chill, but the chairs were all frayed and old. It did not feel presentable to me. However, our waiter was really friendly and nice. She was attentive and polite. In terms of food, I did not enjoy it at all. I did not feel it was worth my calories and 50 cents. When you get the deal it does not come with celery, which I love. Also, the wings are soggy and flavorless. I ordered old bay honey and lemon pepper and I could not tell the difference between the two flavors. The old bay honey bay was slightly sweeter, but seriously I think they use the same sauce for everything. I would not be back here for happy hour. I would rather go try somewhere new.

It's game day! Go anywhere before terrapin's turf. During our last visit, we sat for 15 minutes before anyone came to take our order. The place was relatively empty, especially for game day... We were soon to find out why. After flagging down our server who told us that she takes food orders but won't mess with the bar... Wait what?! we headed to the bar for drinks. Cheap crappy college drinks (but we expected this). Having worked in the service industry and having survived my fair share of game days, I know pushing liquor is key to walking out with a pocket full of tips. None of this makes sense to us. Still no menus. I sipped my regular vodka soda as we finally went to the bar for menus. We ordered nachos and some kind of avocado wrap from our server who miraculously reappears. We wait, wait some more. Continue to wait in the bar line for additional drinks. Someone who is not our server brings out the food which isn't as ordered. The nachos were OK. Just a tad of nacho cheese over plain corn chips, with a side of salsa... Barely nachos. The avocado wrap was actually surprisingly good... But not enough to save any portion of this visit. I go to the bathroom which is expectedly gross. We finish our food and drinks we go through the expected hassle of having to get the bill and pay. We don't attempt to split the bill. We know better. We leave, never to come back. Skip this place on game day.

I do not drink, but they offer brunch on Sundays. Its pretty good, especially fruit. Fruit are fresh and so much!! I only can get half at other breakfast places at the same price. "Terps breakfast" and French toast were great. There are a few people there on sunday, so its quite too.

Fast forward to later when it got crowded (really REALLY crowded), I waited with a friend who was trying to order for someone else, and I was going to order too. It was literally 30 minutes before it even happened, and by then I was ready to go because the crowd kept increasing. Needless to say, I think they might've been understaffed for the capacity, but it looks like this isn't the first time. I can see it getting much more crowded during Alumni events or around major events/sports at the university. Our bartender was friendly enough and poured a pretty stiff drink. Even made a couple of mocktails for the kids. Oddly the kids were told that they could not sit at the bar. Just more legal lunacy, I suppose. Kids can sit at a dinner table in a restaurant alongside beer, wine, cocktails, etc, however to do so at a bar is illegal and unthinkable... Prices are a touch high, but not unexpected given that it's in the middle of a hotel. You'd think they'd have more food options given they are right next to a steakhouse, but they have very limited options including wings and pizza. They did provide a bowl of trailmix--m&ms, peanuts and raisins. A nice place to grab a drink for those staying at the hotel, but by no means a destination for any other purpose.

With a couple of vegetarians, some picky eaters and a wide variety of tastebuds, there weren't many options but we landed on R J Bentley's. And it was fine. We chose the restaurant because it was featured on the Big Ten Network once for Campus Eats at the University of Maryland. Honestly the food was unremarkable but good enough for lunch. The vegetarians had salads that were 'ok' there was a burger choice, some fried pickles, a crab dip and a giant crab covered pretzel. I had the nachos with chili as a main entree. It was pretty good, but the chili was a bit sweet for a nacho covering. The pretzel stole the show for me, and I fully admit to loving it. The atmosphere was exactly as expected - college bar casual. It was nice to see that, and our server was a current student. He was fantastic (Hi Cole) we enjoyed chatting with him and learning about the area, the university and his studies. He probably wanted us to leave him alone but it wasn't crowded so we just enjoyed chatting with him. He did a great job as a server and ambassador for the U. Three stars feels about right. If I was there at night for a full college bar experience I'm betting the place would make it up to four stars, but for lunch I think 3 is right on the mark.

Their HH runs Mon-Fri from 5-7 and include 5-7 cocktails, beer, and wine that they offer at $2ish off the regular price. We stuck with the cocktails and had their Blue Lagoons (which are essentially electric blue vodka lemonades) for $8ish. They were tasty and after 2 of them, we were definitely ready to party. Next time, I want to try the rum punch for $10 - though I noticed the rum punch was premade (vs being made fresh per order). Unfortunately, there are no food offers on the happy hour. The spot was very empty when we arrived, maybe around 5.30p - there was one other couple enjoying time at the bar. Outside of the 8-10 bar seats, they have some lounge level seating, as well as more standard 4-top tables. At the very front of the area, is a small stage where DJ's and karaoke specialists set up. The food was really good; I had the curry chicken plate for $16ish and my girlfriend had the shrimp rasta pasta for $19ish. The food was very flavorful and came out piping hot from the kitchen. I'd get the curry again, for sure. The environment and vibe was the most enjoyable part of my visit; the hip hop and top40's music gave the place a great energy (but wasn't so loud that you couldn't chat. The bartenders were energetic, lively, and friendly. There seemed to be alot of regular patrons who knew each other and the bartenders - that's a really good sign. The star of the show was karaoke which started around 8 (when the bar was getting much more crowded). The karaoke host was great; she kept the group energized and led some karaoke style games and activities that I hadn't seen before. We ended up stay out way longer than expected because we were having such a nice time. I look forward to my next happy hour at JCK. Pro tip: It looks like they have coordinated, promoted parties twice a month on Fridays. And on the other Fridays, they have the 'standard' karaoke nights. Luckily, it more than fit the bill. The atmosphere is definitely more like any other bar you'd go to rather than a hotel bar. A good L-shaped bar with plenty of seats, lots of tables of varying size and height. And plenty of TVs with a variety of games (in this case, college basketball, hockey, NBA). The food menu I believe had just been redone and was imaginative. The Cuban sandwich was a hit (outstanding bread, good size, plenty of meat, I could only eat half), as was the crab cake balls appetizer (worthy of the Maryland crab expectation). Seeing the other food that came out, nobody seemed disappointed. The portions per price wasn't the best, but it certainly was palatable (no pun intended). I might have wanted a few more evenings to sample the fare. The diversity of drinks was a plus, and a minus. They had a number of local bottles and taps, but seemed to be out of a few of them (or they were doing the "dreaded" keg change that rendered them foamy). Seems like a little bit better management here might help (it could very well be I just caught them on a few bad nights). Bartenders were very attentive and the service was quick. Most of the patrons were travelers, many by themselves so there were a lot making conversation for those who were solo. Would I make a special trip to this bar if I were in the area? Probably not.
