I'm laughing at myself. I don't know why I thought reliving my college days by going to a bar in College Park would be a good idea. First of all, the whole place was sticky. The bar tables, bar stools, door knobs, cups. I mean everything was sticky and everything even looked sticky (I didn't know that was possible). On top of that, it smelled horrible. All I could smell was urine and a lot of random not so pleasant smells. The only silver lining was the cheap drinks. Don't be like me and try to relive your college days. There's a reason it's called your past. Lol

What a neat place. Tons of memorabilia on the walls, lots of charm between the walls. Ordered the crab cake sliders and was very pleased. A bit too much bread, but that's why they give you a fork. Fries were excellent, too. Service was quick and very friendly. Would not hesitate to come here again.

This is basically a college bar, but not like a nice college bar like Looneys. The place looks dirty and is sticky. The service was good and the staff were nice, but the food is not good. Chili is sweet. Sweet chili is gross 1/10 Fried pickles were okay but not really good 5/10 The French dip was not good at all, just tasted bland and had a slight weird taste that I couldn't pinpoint. 4/10 Even the Miller lite draft tasted a little watered down. I suppose if you were a college kid and wanted to come here drinking it would be fine, but other than that, I'd recommend skipping this place.

As we start to tackle the college search for kid #2 I get to tackle the restaurant choices...and this will be fun. At an unplanned stop at the University of Maryland (where Wifey and I met) we decided to also grab an early lunch at one of our old hangouts - Bentley's. It actually hasn't changed much in 20+ years, which is a good thing I suppose. Service was still slow, but the food was still good. We started with some Fried pickles and Wifey and I went old school with a couple of Natty Boh's. My daughter had a Caesar salad with grilled chicken and a Grilled cheese (kid is an athlete and has the metabolism of a hummingbird); Wifey had the Lug nuts crab cakes (basically crab cake sliders); my son took a chance on the Salmon BLT; and I had the Mark VI burger with bacon and cheddar. In a nutshell, the service was very slow-especially since the place was empty. It wasn't the server's fault...food just took forever When it got to us the food was very good. Burger was a little overdone, but not ruined or anything. Crab cakes were pretty tasty and both kids liked their meals. Overall a pretty good meal...oh yeah, Natty Boh is as terrible as I remember!

My friend and I were in the area and stopped by here for a drink. Given it was 2 pm on a Friday, it was absolutely dead. Like so dead there was barely even service. The place looked closed. I guess I'm over my college drinking stage, but this place was pretty dirty. The bathroom smelled soo bad even though it looked decently clean. The prices were unbeatable though. $20 with tip for fries and two drinks! I probably wouldn't come back here again, but my college self probably would.

$7.00, for both! In the basketball stadium it would be $9 for one!

Fun alumni bar, cheap beer, sticky floors, but if you get a table, the food is pretty decent. They have good patio seating in the front. Highly frequented by students, so can get really busy on Fri and Sat nights.

Great food and better bartenders! Brady, Jamie, Jenna, Luis, and Evan make this place absolutely amazing!!

RJ Bentley`s is my go to spot before going to class and after class. Normally arrive around 4 pm. I last two times I went to the bar I was pleasantly one of just a few patrons at the bar. I have a thing for "neighborhood" style bars. Sarah is my go to bartender. She is also a student at University of Maryland and she is the best. Sarah is always very tentative, she is friendly and make very good drinks. (Sometimes too good to have before class). I normally do not give 5 stars but I honestly have nothing bad to say about this place. The wings are. GREAT! I ordered the Honey Mustard wings lightly tossed with blue cheese on the side. I also ordered a Margarita from Sarah which was off the chain, good! The RJ Bentley is a classic sports bar. A nice addition to the bar is the wood burning fireplace in the corner of the bar.

I didn't order a drink yet, but I just wanted water. I didn't realize until later that there was a water machine on the other side of the bar, so I could've just been chilling. Fast forward to later when it got crowded (really REALLY crowded), I waited with a friend who was trying to order for someone else, and I was going to order too. It was literally 30 minutes before it even happened, and by then I was ready to go because the crowd kept increasing. Needless to say, I think they might've been understaffed for the capacity, but it looks like this isn't the first time. I'll have to come during happy hour (if that exists still, I didn't see anything for it) on an off-peak day for a better experience. I do appreciate that the staff are nice, though!

I can see it getting much more crowded during Alumni events or around major events/sports at the university. Our bartender was friendly enough and poured a pretty stiff drink. Even made a couple of mocktails for the kids. Oddly the kids were told that they could not sit at the bar. Just more legal lunacy, I suppose. Kids can sit at a dinner table in a restaurant alongside beer, wine, cocktails, etc, however to do so at a bar is illegal and unthinkable... Prices are a touch high, but not unexpected given that it's in the middle of a hotel. You'd think they'd have more food options given they are right next to a steakhouse, but they have very limited options including wings and pizza. They did provide a bowl of trailmix--m&ms, peanuts and raisins. A nice place to grab a drink for those staying at the hotel, but by no means a destination for any other purpose.

I didn't come to this place right away when it opened, but when I did, it was for brunch. At $10 for bottomless mimosas, and reasonably priced breakfast options, what could possibly go wrong? So I met a friend there, and I was surprised to see how empty it was! If I recall, my friend and I were one of maybe two or other parties in the entire place, and it's pretty spacious! If you go with the bottomless mimosa option, they leave a pitcher on the table and refill it as soon as you're done. I got an omelet and some bacon and was quite satisfied. And with no one around, it just felt really chill. Fast forward to my most recent visit several years later, it really hasn't changed! We were literally the only party in there, but they were playing Caribbean music the entire time. I was definitely in my zone. And this time, I can give a big shout out to the dude who really took care of us: Mike. The mimosa pitcher came quickly, and he graciously took food orders. I had 4 fluffy and filling pancakes and sausage, and was quite stuffed. I left without even having to pay $20, but I can't help but wonder... when is the place crowded??? Their HH runs Mon-Fri from 5-7 and include 5-7 cocktails, beer, and wine that they offer at $2ish off the regular price. We stuck with the cocktails and had their Blue Lagoons (which are essentially electric blue vodka lemonades) for $8ish. They were tasty and after 2 of them, we were definitely ready to party. Next time, I want to try the rum punch for $10 - though I noticed the rum punch was premade (vs being made fresh per order). Unfortunately, there are no food offers on the happy hour. The spot was very empty when we arrived, maybe around 5.30p - there was one other couple enjoying time at the bar. Outside of the 8-10 bar seats, they have some lounge level seating, as well as more standard 4-top tables. At the very front of the area, is a small stage where DJ's and karaoke specialists set up. The food was really good; I had the curry chicken plate for $16ish and my girlfriend had the shrimp rasta pasta for $19ish. The food was very flavorful and came out piping hot from the kitchen. I'd get the curry again, for sure. The environment and vibe was the most enjoyable part of my visit; the hip hop and top40's music gave the place a great energy (but wasn't so loud that you couldn't chat. The bartenders were energetic, lively, and friendly. There seemed to be alot of regular patrons who knew each other and the bartenders - that's a really good sign. The karaoke host was great; she kept the group energized and led some karaoke style games and activities that I hadn't seen before. We ended up stay out way longer than expected because we were having such a nice time. I look forward to my next happy hour at JCK. Pro tip: It looks like they have coordinated, promoted parties twice a month on Fridays. And on the other Fridays, they have the 'standard' karaoke nights. A good L-shaped bar with plenty of seats, lots of tables of varying size and height. And plenty of TVs with a variety of games (in this case, college basketball, hockey, NBA). The food menu I believe had just been redone and was imaginative. The Cuban sandwich was a hit (outstanding bread, good size, plenty of meat, I could only eat half), as was the crab cake balls appetizer (worthy of the Maryland crab expectation). Seeing the other food that came out, nobody seemed disappointed. The portions per price wasn't the best, but it certainly was palatable (no pun intended). I might have wanted a few more evenings to sample the fare. The diversity of drinks was a plus, and a minus. They had a number of local bottles and taps, but seemed to be out of a few of them (or they were doing the "dreaded" keg change that rendered them foamy). Seems like a little bit better management here might help (it could very well be I just caught them on a few bad nights). Bartenders were very attentive and the service was quick. Most of the patrons were travelers, many by themselves so there were a lot making conversation for those who were solo. Would I make a special trip to this bar if I were in the area? Probably not.
