We caught them on a slow, rainy Friday night, maybe a dozen customers between the bar and the restaurant, and they had plenty of time to make it right. They did. The taco dinner was as good as anything I've had between here and the Mexican border, beer was ice cold, in a frozen taza, even the chips and salsa was very good. I've eaten at this restaurant on numerous occasions. Up to this point this has been one of my favorite Mexican food restaurants in Texas City. When doing or writing a review I make every effort to be positive. However this time this dinner was over the top. We pulled into the parking lot and exited our vehicle. Only to meet a white male in his twenties sitting here the front door and begging patrons for money. I simply handled it with a no and ushered my family on in through the front door of the restaurant to get them into a safer environment. Upon entering the front door there was a table directly to the left period two males to females who are carrying on a conversation inappropriate for any public place. They're vulgarity was over the top and Extremely Loud. The hostess took us to a table about as far away from the table in the above mentioned as possible. Even being crossed the restaurant you could still here the screaming and yelling coming from the table. I mentioned it to our waiter who stated that he thought they would be leaving soon. After being there a few minutes I realized that must have been his table. Our waiter which I will not mention his name could use some lessons in hospitality. The service was very poor! He could not get our orders right. We saw him maybe every 15 minutes if that much. Drink glasses empty more than they were full. Other waitresses and waiters were having to pick up the slack for him and when he brought the food to the table he gave each one of us the wrong plate. When I mention to him that we have been waiting for our food and will not getting very good service he copped an attitude. I asked to speak to the manager which came to the table and had to have a translator. Her English was not very good and I have no problem with that. What I do have a problem with was the quality of food. I had a burrito with dried out beef fajita meat. You could tell that the plate have been sitting in the kitchen for a while before it was brought out. My wife had cheese enchiladas there were supposed to be two and there was one. When that was pointed out to him he said oh I gave her your daughters plate sorry. Long story short sorry sorry sorry is all we heard from our waiter until I asked for the manager. After I spoke to the manager the waiters statements as he stood there behind the translator and the manager. Was abrupt and said" I can't do anything about the way people talk in the restaurant" I agree and fully understand that however. Instead of catering to a table that sucking the Margaritas down and being loud and obnoxious he could have provided it halfway decent service. After the waiter stormed off another waitress start attending to us . When she brought us the check. Even the check was wrong I am not happy nor please with my experience there and I am not sure that they deserve two stars. At least for that night. I will simply say this if you go to this restaurant check and double-check before you pay your bill. And don't set your expectations too high. I will say I won't ever go back. But I can assure you with as many Mexican food restaurants as Texas city has, I can assure you that it will be awhile before I return. Hopefully this review will get their attention and possibly cause them to step up their service and the quality of food coming out of their kitchen. I think it's worth mentioning not only did we have an issue but the table next to us complained too and thank to me for saying something to management and going beyond our pompous waiter with an attitude. Best fajitas ever! Staff is also very friendly and polite. Highly recommended eating here.

Initially had a bad experience because of a nasty drunk woman discussing her vagina so loud that everyone in the restaurant could hear. Gave them another try. Now they are my favorite happy hour place. $1.99 house margaritas are great, and the service is also great. I like the smothered pork chop lunch special. Wings are also good. read more

This is good Mexican food near the heart of 'downtown' Texas City. It's not great, but good enough and especially at the price point. My biggest complaint is that they don't offer black beans like a few of their competitors in the area and depending on which day or time you go there, their food is very good to just okay. But again, for the price, it's hard to complain. Just wish there was some consistency, um and black beans. read more

This is definitely our family's favorite Mexican restaurant in Texas City! We eat here at least twice a month, if not more. We each have a favorite dish on the menu. Mine is "Grilled Chicken"...it's chicken breast smothered in white cheese, mushrooms, bell peppers. Yummmmm. Husband & daughter like Beef Enchiladas and my son eats Marisco Enchiladas every time we come here. The staff is very friendly. We all enjoy the atmosphere and the food at Terraza's. :) read more

This is the best mexican food south of San Antonio and north of Mexico! It's my favorite by far. I drive from League City, which has plenty of choices, to eat here just about every time I want mexican food. The beef fajita meat is incredible! I haven't had anything he I didn't just love. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter that I've been coming here for years, because I recently had an issue with my cc being charged multiple times for one visit. I spoke with manager, who assured me he would take care of it. Not only did he FAIL to take care of it. He ignored all my attempts to reach out to him. Very unethical. Updating my review from a few years ago. Have been here twice in the last two months and both times the flavors were not up to par. I don't know what they've changed, but...it isn't as good as it was in past years. I'm hopeful they will bring the quality back up soon. read more

Kind of a dive of a place in old downtown Texas City. There is never a wait at lunch. The staff is super fast and friendly. The food is your average Tex-Mex and very reasonable prices. Just normal Mexican food. Nothing special, but good. I've had the cheese enchiladas, nachos, chili rellenos, and quesadillas. It would not be my first choice for Mexican food in this area, but if someone else wanted to go, I wouldn't complain. It's located in an old drive-in restaurant and you can park where the cars once drove up for service. I think it would be cool if they redesigned that area for outside dining. They do have a good happy hour though and good margaritas! read more

GREAT PRICES! Me and my mom went for 1.99$ Margaritas! Very strong and so delicious! The food was phenomenal our server was an elderly lady and she was amazing! My sister and I reviewed this restaurant on Yelp prior to coming. The reviews were great! I don't know where these folks have been eating but they need to step it up because this Mexican food was shyt! The only thing worth coming for are the stuffed avocados. The entrees (pollo chipotle) lacked seasoning. It was so disappointingly bland. It was like a recipe from a 1976 Family Circle. I cannot believe the lack of effort that went into the preparation.
