It was not like a nice hot fluffy potato should be. I ordered sautéed mushrooms to go on my steak and never have I tasted anything this bad. It tasted like burnt, dirty, greasy grill. I couldn't eat either the mushrooms or potato. My side salad, was lousy, a 7 year old could have done a better job. I didn't dine in so I can't attest to how that is but for $33.00 for just one meal, I was extremely disappointed. So many places are not upholding the good ole, "make good food, make return customers" and Gators unfortunately is one of them. If you don't make consistently good food, expect to lose customers. There are way too many other options. I highly doubt I'll ever eat here again.

Toilets were overflowing, no place to wash your hands, water to the soda machine wasn't even working - it was completely turned off for the whole building it seems. They should have shut down and they chose not to. I was pretty grossed out considering that they only really sell finger foods. How are they washing dishes, how are the waiters and cooks washing their hands?? Water issue aside - We ordered food before we realized what was going on. I ordered a brisket taco and it was not good. The beef was very tough and didn't have good flavor. Chips and salsa were very good though and the rest of my party seemed to enjoy what they ordered so maybe I got a bad batch. The staff was awesome and I felt SO bad for them having to work in the situation that they were in. I realize that we visited on a bad day but come on - no water should necessitate closure from a health perspective, even on a holiday weekend. I didn't make a big deal about it because I worked in the restaurant industry myself so I try to be kind and respectful but I think seems very sneaky to me. The server should ALWAYS ask what size they want and not assume they want the larger size. That's up-charging. I also wanted to mention that we received a FREE watermelon margarita on the rocks because I think they had an extra which we gladly accepted and weren't charged for. But that doesn't compensate for the $5 upcharge. Most people say I should have contacted the manager but I didn't want to make a big deal over $3 but it's the principle to me. It's just not honest and I don't like that. We still tipped her over 22% but I'm rethinking that now. Maybe I should have deducted that $5 from her tip since I think it was an intentional up-charge. Oh well... As far as the food, we ordered the brisket enchiladas. They were OK. We didn't love the barbeque drizzle on top of the sour cream sauce. It really threw off the flavor in our opinions so that was a bummer. The white queso, chips and salsa were all on-point! We go out to Tex-Mex restaurants every week and the other restaurants don't give us the larger size so it just seems sketchy. I was very hungry, so I ordered their egg sandwich, and it was fresh and delicious. Even though I live about an hour away, that experience made such a good impression that I came back later to try more of their menu. I'm happy to say everything else I tried was just as good. The stuffed jalapenos were excellent, very flavorful and stuffed with crab and cheese. I also ordered the chicken fried chicken, which was great, especially with their toast. The fruit bowl was fresh, and of course I had to get another egg sandwich, which was just as good as I remembered. They even brought us a complimentary slice of carrot cake, and it was fantastic. I'll definitely be coming back again to get more of that carrot cake, and next time I'd also love to try their prime rib.
