He took my saved images and looked up each dress. After locating one, he brought an associate over who asked what I was looking for and began pulling dresses. They have so many options! From short cocktails to evening wear to ball gowns. They have so many choices to try on and find the best dress for your event. The ladies in the fitting rooms are precious! They check on you, help with zipping or looking for additional sizes, and they are helpful when discussing problem areas. I loved working with Claudette. The entire process was such an awesome experience for the both of us. Vera, our Sales Associate was very helpful, knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor. (Sorry I suck - I've been to so many bridal stores now I can barley remember my consultants names- but I remember the good ones!) She was VERY helpful as it was my first time ever trying on a bridal gown. She set the standard for great customer service and allowed me to try on different styles to see what I liked. She didn't pressure me to make a decision, and encouraged me to pick and vocalize what I wanted in a dress. However, I returned to a second appointment with a different consultant (I can't remember her name) who was friendly at first but it became pretty apparent she was vocalizing more of her opinions. I totally get that to an extent. Oddly enough without saying anything one of my bridesmaids told my MOH she didn't like the sales consultant either after we left!! I have been twice both on a Saturday because that was when it was most convenient for me and my other person to go with. I went for the first time this past January and the second time last weekend. Both times, the store was SLAMMED! LOTS AND LOTS of people there. So if you are not a of crowds I would definitely say go on the weekdays. They are known for their prom dress selection. While I was there both times, majority of the customers were there looking for prom dresses. There are lines from the back of the store all the way to the front, for those that just want to try on dresses.The store is probably only busy because it is prom season. THey do have a bridal section. They carry a variety of popular designers and have them set at affordable prices. You can find some great picks at this store! I got one of my bridal dresses there! I was FED up with my overall experience of shopping for a wedding dress when I decided to try Terry Costa. As soon as my family & I walked in to look around, we were greeted by the friendly desk staff & our stylist (Heather). They had a well-planned process to picking out an initial set of dresses to try on. Heather was quick to ask for what I had in mind & if I had photos (or a Pinterest board) to share with her. She quickly knew what I wanted & provided us suggestions/support as we braved the MANY dresses they had to choose from. All the dresses were protected by plastic coverings, cleaned after each try-on, & were neatly organized by size. The facility that Terry Costa is in is very large, so we were able to look around without being interrupted by the other shoppers. Back to the try on process, I was very frustrated & overwhelmed by my family, the pressures that come with this huge decision & the overwhelming quantity of dresses I had seen in one day. But, Heather was GREAT at keeping ME smiling through the process. She assisted me in trying my dresses, clipping me into them & also reminding me to think about what I FEEL BEAUTIFUL IN! I seriously couldn't have found my wedding dress without Heather because of her patience & support. After picking my dress, I was measured & given a date of 2-3 months to pick up. However my dress came MUCH quicker than expected! While they do not offer in-house alterations, Terry Costa has a list of suggestions & positive experience from these recommendations. I understand prom season is a very busy time but the staff was beyond rude, our "assistant" once we go into a dressing room was horrible, I don't know her name because she never helped us! I want to first and foremost say how completely disgusted I am in the way I have been treated at this store. You hear about racism and others are treated based on their color. We choose not to believe it, but once you experience it, it's by far the most unpleasant and rudest thing. I went into Terry Costa with my Mother to find my Wedding dress. What was supposed to be one of the happiest moments turned sour. I was not welcomed whatsoever, but this was not the first time, I had went on Monday with my bridesmaids and the way the we were treated by Jennifer should have been the first sign. I only came back because Jennifer's attitude changed a little towards the end and she ending up helping. I end up finding a couple of dresses to try on and found one I love. However you can tell the dress had been tried on several times and there was some visible evidence of that, even the straps were horrible. I was informed they can only do 15% off, not enough but okay. I would have to pay for it to be dry cleaned and to replace the straps which would be more then what the 15% off would be. This was fine I'll deal with it! What concerns me the most is how rude and racist Rachael was! What made matters worse was that she was the MANAGER? Her snobby attitude was horrible, she really felt like maybe because were black, dressed down, that we couldn't pay for a dress this much. So much so the only African American working in that store was off in the corner with another coworker and Rachael over there, not knowing my mother and I was listening heard her say along the lines of how she hates when people like us act the way we do. I'm curious ma'am how do people like us "act"? We didn't raise our voice, we didn't cuss, we didn't act a fool, which I can only assume is what you trying to categorize us as. I went one day after work to scope out their inventory and hadn't planned on trying anything on that day but she convinced me to try on a few silhouettes for a better idea on sizing and fit. I walked in and was immediately helped by a wonderful consultant named Vera. She was very attentive and kind. The prices on bridal gowns are definitely a lot lower than a lot of the shops I've been too but the experience was just terrible. My consultant (don't remember name) really wasn't much of a consultant. I was told to pick out whatever gowns I wanted to try on and she would pin them to fit me. My consultant didn't stay with me while I was in the dressing room. Perhaps they were understaffed but she was constantly leaving and I would have to pass the message to my sister to let her tell the consultant that I was ready for her or I can hear her yell across a sea of people if I was ready for her. This happened with EVERY dress that I tried on. I didn't like how I felt so rushed with every try on. It felt like she could careless if I wanted to find a dress because she had other brides waiting for a room. Walking out to see the big mirror was sooo hectic and overwhelming. There are no individual areas so everyone who is there shares one big mirror. It's so distracting trying to look at your dress when there are 5 there people next to you and their family members are all speaking as well. Perhaps this is why they're able to keep the cost of the dresses much lower than their competitors. I wouldn't recommend this place as a first stop for brides because it's so overwhelming. Came here on a Saturday around noon for a bridesmaid dress fitting. The location is nice and lots of parking available. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. The place was very busy, which was expected for the time of day we went. An appointment was not needed for fitting and measurements but my sister did have to put her name on a list once we all showed up for someone to help us. We waited probably about 15 min for assistance. The ladies were really nice and helpful. I will say I love the dresses she picked and it looks great on all the bridesmaids. The only downside was they don't carry the exact pink color that my sister is wanting on any of the sample dresses. It would have been nice to see at least one person in the color being picked. They did bring out the swatch board and compare it to one of the dresses to give us an idea of what it will look like. It didn't take very long for us to all get our measurements taken and all paperwork signed. We were in and out in less than an hour. Not all of the bridesmaids have been able to get fitted but once they are and the order is placed you have the option to either pay the whole amount right then or half then and the other half once the dress comes in. Not sure if this is standard but for anyone one a tight budget this works really well. We did get a moment to look at some of the brides trying on wedding dresses. Terry Costa has been around since the mid-80's and they have done a good job keeping up with current fashion and having so many options. My mom, sisters and I would actually drive from Oklahoma to get our prom and homecoming dresses here. So it has been a favorite shop of mine for years. So when my girlfriend said she wanted to do some wedding shopping and we were right down the road, I made sure that we stopped here. My friend was looking for a casual, knee length white wedding dress, something less formal. So of course we stopped in the evening wear section. A lady named Gail popped up immediately as we were looking at a very nice knee length dress. We noticed that the size said XL and my friend is a small or medium. I on the other hand am not, I'm probably more of an XXL size. I was holding the dress and asked her what the XL size would be in dress sizes. She immediately started going on and on about how that would never work. My friend and I were so confused. She started saying how it would be really short and just not fit. Neither of us were getting why she wasn't just answering the question. She kept going on and then looked at me and then looked me up and down and said it would never fit. I said this is for my friend and she is no where near an XL, I don't know why it wouldn't fit her. She then kept going on about how it wouldn't fit my boobs, etc. I held it up to my friend and was like uh no I think it would fit her fine, in fact I think it would need to be taken in. She then starts saying oh I didn't realize it was for you and says well you know your so much taller then her (uh we are the same height). I was truly shocked speechless (which never happens to me). For the first time in my life I was body shammed. I honestly didn't know this type of thing really happened but it did, blatantly. The lady never even apologized for the confusion and just completely ignored me. I should have said something to her but I really just felt sorry for her. I really hope that she isn't a representation of the entire store or what it has become. I'm not sure I need to remind people of this but 68% of women wear a size 14 or larger. Overall you could tell the woman was a shark just out to make some money and had no care with how she stepped on people to do it. Once she figured out it was for the smaller one of us she wanted to show all these different options not even listening to what my friend wanted. It was a disaster. We almost left but after we told the Gail we just wanted to look on our own. My friend asked if I wanted to leave and I told her no, we aren't going to let that ruin her shopping experience. Another woman in the bridal department ended up helping us but unfortunately due to this experience I will have to rate Terry Costa as a 1. Hopefully management will do some training to make sure this doesn't happen again but what's worse is knowing that Gail doesn't seem to care about the human aspect of customer service. read more

I consider this 3-star rating to be an average of two separate experiences I had here. The first time, I had a really good experience. I happened to be in the area, so I dropped by to lightly browse their selection. They carry one of my favorite designers, Maggie Sottero, so I was pumped when I saw the giant row of beautiful gowns! Unfortunately, Terry Costa was having a big sale that particular Saturday, so it was super packed. Sylvester was really nice to me and tried his best to squeeze me into a dressing room even though I hadn't made an appointment. I had to be somewhere in 20 minutes, so I told him that I'd come back later, hopefully when it wasn't so crowded. When I returned, the crowd was gone, and I was paired with Mogda to help me try on some gowns. She was fantastic--even though I only intended to try on 1 or 2 gowns, she encouraged me to pick some more even though they were closing soon. She clearly has a lot of experience in the bridal industry and was very honest and to-the-point when I asked for her opinion (which I appreciated). I found a dress that I fell in love with, but I wanted to come back later to purchase it so that I could bring my mom and a few bridesmaids along. I made an appointment for one month later with Mogda and was very satisfied with my overall experience. The second time, I was largely disappointed. I brought my mom and 3 other girls along for this trip. When we arrived, I told the front desk that I had a scheduled appointment with Mogda, and they directed me to her. However, she was finishing up helping someone else--which I totally understand. I didn't mind browsing the gowns for 15 minutes or so. She found us again while we were browsing, and took us (and my selected gowns) to the dressing room. I got pretty much zero assistance getting gowns on and off. I had to take the gowns off the hangers myself, and to peek under the curtain to ask for someone to help me zip up/clip the gowns (and it often wasn't even Mogda; I have no idea where she went), and had to again verbally ask for help hanging the gowns back up. I tried on 3-4 dresses in this way, and it got so bad that my friends actually noticed and offered to help me themselves. The service was abysmal. I strongly considered taking my business elsewhere even though I originally found my perfect dress at Terry Costa. However, towards the end of the appointment, Mogda came back and was generally more helpful. I ended up going ahead and ordering my dress with them because they were offering a trunk sale on the brand ($150 gift certificate with the purchase of any Maggie Sottero gown), but probably would have picked another boutique in a heartbeat if another place offered a comparable deal. They actually weren't having the trunk show until the following weekend, but offered me the same deal so that I wouldn't have to return to the store (they just took down my info and said they would bill the following weekend during the trunk show). Overall, the dress selection here is great if you like Maggie Sottero, Mori Lee, and Allure, and everything is reasonably priced (they don't hike up prices from the MSRP). They also offer a variety of specials and trunk shows throughout the year, which you can check on their website. Some of the one-of-a-kind Allure sample dresses (size 8, so very tiny; would fit street size 0-2) are a steal. But it seems like a hit-or-miss with the service. I'd recommend that you make an appointment and not come on a Saturday during a trunk show/sale. read more

I went to this bridal shop initially when I was looking for my wedding dress. I made the mistake of not making an appointment and coming on a Saturday (they were packed). I didn't have anyone give me any attention or ask what I wanted until a bit later in the day when it was my turn. The person working with me was great and picked out various dresses to try but we were near the back where there wasn't enough space to walk around (since the main area was super crowded). Overall, I wouldn't recommend coming here without making an appointment (this was the first shop I went to and I didn't know any better). To start my consultant, Ann, told me a wedding dress may not be for me since I was so pale. She then started pulling dresses that were the exact opposite of that I wanted. Around dress 4 she called me fat in front of my bridesmaids and future mother in law. We were all so disturbed she was so rude to us. My consultant also opened the curtain on me so I was standing there naked in front of 15 people and didn't close the curtain for almost a minute. I had to listen to all these women laugh at seeing me. I was MORTIFIED! We left our appointment early because the appointment got worse and worse. I have since called multiple times and left multiple voicemails for a manager with no return calls. Bad experience with our consultant aside they cancelled our appointment because they double booked us and when we walked in (per their suggestion) the lady who checked us in said "we would never tell a customer that." We offered to let her listen to the voicemail and she declined since she was so busy. Customer Service is not in their wheelhouse. This shop is incredibly dirty. There were dresses that were brown on the inside from getting tried on so many times. Trash in the bridal dressing rooms and dresses laying on the floor. Went here looking for an evening gown. The reception was very poor. The young girls at the reception desk did not welcome me to the store. Terry Costa has a large selection of evening gowns and a bridal section. They also have a nice looking accessories section. The selection of evening gowns for curvy girls is pretty good. What made this such a good shopping experience is the Sales Associate, Claudette. When you go there ask for her. She was very helpful and went through the racks several times to offer suggestions as to what might look good on me. Claudette more than made up for the poor reception at the front desk. If you don't find what you need at Terry Costa and don't mind driving a bit, try "Group USA" in Grapevine Mills. They primarily carry formal gowns and have an good selection of dresses in Women's, Missy and Junior at reasonable prices. The plus size dresses at Group USA are a little hipper. read more

Meh. Went bridal shopping here with a friend. They have a large selection but the dresses aren't in great condition and the sample sizes are small! My friend is a size 6 and couldn't fit any of the dresses! A sample size should be around a 10-12 as they are the most common sizes. You can always add clips to fit a smaller woman, but the only thing you'll do is lose out on sales with such limited sizes. Magda was our stylist and I hate to say it because she was older (maybe around 70, bless her heart), but the service we received was pretty poor. The store opened at noon and we got there around 2 and Magda seemed exhausted! She even kept asking coworkers what time it was and we were only there for about 40 minutes! She didn't go into the fitting room with my friend to help her try on dresses either - she just stood outside the dressing room or came to sit down next to us. Putting on a dress alone is a pretty challenging task and something a bridal stylist should help with. I had a great experience with Terry Costa! They have a really decent selection of bridal gowns. I am not really a "Say Yes to the Dress" type of bride. I don't need an entourage, and I had a pretty good idea of what I was looking for. One thing I liked was that I was able to walk in and look around for a minute. Not too long, but I appreciated it. Once I had a chance to look, I was approached by Vera. She was so sweet. She asked me what I was looking for and pulled a gown. I had walked by it before, however I was game for trying it on. Vera was really patient with me, and helped me find the right size. When I tried the gown on...it was perfect. She helped me accessorize, and well...she definitely knows what she is doing. There was no need to try on anything else. I ordered my gown a couple of days later. I was told that it would be in 3-4 months later, well it arrived in 2 weeks! I asked her where the "bigger dresses" were and she explained how the sizes were arranged and came back frequently to take my dresses to my fitting room. Apparently all the rooms were full at first but I was first on the waiting list which was fine because I still had loads of dresses to dig through. The prices vary but I didn't see anything dip below $600ish and there were lots of dresses in the thicker ranges. It was the perfect amount of attention, she was usually coming back around by the time I need to be clipped/zipping/laced into the next dress. I found a couple of promising dresses and while she did take down the ones I liked for "their records" she did not try to push me into anything. There was one time when I couldn't get out of a dress (I was laced up tight!) and I couldn't find her but another employee saw me looking around and came over and untrussed me, which was much appreciated. All in all, I think Terry Costa is a good place to start looking at dresses if you don't like too much one-on-one attention. The condition of the dresses was not a concern to me- they did not seem nearly as battered as one reviewer described and it wouldn't have mattered much to me personally as they are just samples to see how they fit, I don't expect them to be in pristine condition. read more

I visited my sister in Plano to do some wedding dress shopping. I found a few places to go to on yelp, and this one came with 4 stars. For wedding dress shopping, totally undeserved. Child pageants, grownup pageants, and proms...maybe, if you're into sparkle and polyester. For weddings though, the experience is pretty icky. Terry Costa has a lot of wedding dresses and decent designers. A lot of the dresses were ones that I had tried on in an Arkansas salon. However, I couldn't tell that they were the same dresses, and the quality seemed so much lower because the staff do not treat the dresses well. There is obviously a high volume of consumers, and the staff does not keep the dresses in plastic bags. The result are dirty, frayed, ripped gowns. I felt like I needed a HOT shower after trying on several gowns. The staff is also very busy. My consultant was sweet, but she was working with another bride, and didn't have time to lace me up or unlace me into gowns. She was also much pushier than most consultants that had helped me. Bottom line: This place has a great selection of wedding dresses at a decent price. But the quality of the gowns and service is so low that I wouldn't recommend it. read more

Some of the most beautiful dresses sold here, including one-of-a-kind bridal gowns, gowns by well-known designers, pageant gowns, prom, mother-of-the-bride, bridesmaids, flower girls, and evening/special occasion wear. I purchased my gown from Terry Costa and the lady I worked with was very nice and attentive. Another time I went in to check up on detailing of my dress and a different lady had helped me. She was equally as nice as the first and quite hilarious as well. I wished I could remember their names, but I am having a hard time at the moment. I ended up purchasing a few different dresses the second time around during one of their several sales that they hold. I actually found a Mori Lee lace peplum dress for more than 90% off retail. It was an older style, but still very pretty. It just needed new buttons - which was an easy fix! I haven't had a chance to wear it but I'm sure there will be a special occasion soon. =) At any rate, I had originally stopped by because I had fell in love with a dress from a photo I saw online with a particular designer and this was the only shop in town that offered a sample to try on in that style. I stopped in to try on the dress I had my eye on for several months, but when I tried on the dress, it did not "WOW!" me. I tried on several other dresses, but still nothing really sparked my interest. The dress I finally decided on was a one-of-a-kind dress that was nothing near to what I had originally had in mind. It was completely out of my budget, but I can wholeheartedly say that it was "THE DRESS!" On the many occasions I stopped in to check-up on my dress, the service I received was quite attentive and I never felt pressured to buy any of the other dresses I had tried on. And I tried on quite a few dresses - there are just so many gorgeous dresses here and I wanted try them ALL on!!! Most of the dresses they carry are super GLAM. I have to say, their in-house buyer has a great eye for style! I've ran into several pageant girls shopping for their dresses here and they have two fabulous well-lighted runways with lots of mirrors for the full-on effect. This is also the hottest spot to get your homecoming/prom dresses, from what I hear. And conveniently next door is a well-experienced tailor. The store is within walking distance and they work closely with Terry Costa customers. If you are looking for evening gowns from designers like Mori Lee, Allure, Jovani, Tony Bowls, Sherri Hill, Maggie Sottero, to name a few, I would highly recommend stopping into Terry Costa. read more
