During the process, we asked a lot of questions to project advisor. He answered each of my questions in 24 hrs and somethings few hours. The installations were good and professional for our project. It took only 6 days after the installation to get PTO. It was quite efficient. Overall, they did a very good job for our solar system and its cost is almost half of the other competitors. The customer service I've experienced has been extremely disappointing. For the past 10 months, I've experienced repeated delays- appointment scheduled months out, only to be told at the time of service that another part needs to be ordered, which add several more months of waiting. Because I didn't purchase a performance guarantee package I'm expected to absorb all the cost despite these delays being entirely on the company side. It's clear the company is aware of these issues yet chooses not to address them. I find it unacceptable that they continue to operate this way, charging customers for services they fail to deliver. read more

I had Tesla put solar panels on my home in July 2023. During the first year the panel were fully or partially not working for five months out of the year (May to September). After five repair appointments they returned to full output. After one of the appointments the roof began to leak, though Tesla says it is not their fault even though their workers spent a lot of time walking on the roof. The panel became operational in September. It is now April 2024 and they failed again about a month ago. I just waited over half the day for a service crew, to be notified they have cancelled. Tesla has made it impossible to talk to anyone. You can only "chat" on their app. This is the worst major purchase I've made for my home. read more

Tesla Solar customer service is dreadful. We purchased a home with Solar City solar panels (acquired by Tesla so now Tesla Solar). The closing was delayed because Tesla did not handle the transfer of the system in a timely manner and was not responsive for weeks. Once we moved in and had problems with the system, there was a one hour wait to talk to them on the phone each time you call. The solar gateway does not connect to our home network. The system is noisy. Solar never comes back after power outages. Sometimes it goes down for no reason. Tesla insists all is well and won't even send a tech to the home. Wanted to get a couple of Powerwalls but after our extremely poor experience with Tesla customer service there is no way I'm putting any more Tesla products in our home. This also goes for Tesla cars which we have also ruled out buying. Maybe Tesla's service is better for cars and batteries than it is for Solar City systems that they acquired. I'll never know - life is too short to have relationships with companies than don't care about their customers. read more

I signed a contract for Tesla solar panels March 3 2023. After completion May 16th I was to pay the contract amount within 10 day. I tried calling billing 5/16, 17, and 18. When my invoice came 5/27/23 if was $503.75 more then my contract. Tesla had made a mistake and wanted me to pay sales taxes they had figured incorrectly. My project manager, Robbie admitted they had made this mistake with other customers. May 31st he said billing would send correct invoice and he would call me back so I could pay the contract amount. Billing didn't send a corrected invoice and Robbie didn't call me. I was able to pay the contract amount at Tesla billing 6/2/23. Robbie called me today to say I have to pay the additional $503.75 before Tesla will connect me to SDG&E grid. (SDG&E was cleared 6/2/23 and since Tesla will not connect me to the grid the energy that should be going to SDG&E for credit to my account is being discharged.) The system is great, customer support is awful. I paid the contract in full and Tesla should absorb the $503.75 over the contracted agreement signed March 3 which was their error. Tesla never mentioned the error until almost 2 weeks after the installation May 16. read more

Ever since Tesla bought out my solar company I have had problems. First my roof was leaking took forever to get them out to repair. They don't return your call. They don't keep their appointments. Once you get the solar, they want nothing more to do with you. I am getting absolutely no technical support and my solar panels are not working. It's going on a month they're fully aware they don't return my call. Don't ever buy solar panels through Tesla as there are so many other options. I am very dissatisfied. "Why do I keep Trying to get solar from this company, AS THEY SAY BUYER BEWARE I wanted to go with Tesla as I thought it would be great, the prices were cheaper. Tesla job created online 6/8/2021 $100. Next to Tesla assess my roof. The assessor said everything looks good. You should have it installed in the next 1 to 2 weeks. That was 2 months ago. Well one or two weeks have come and gone, over and over and over again. Since this date they finally gave me a design, which was wrong. They highlighted 50% of the roof to be replaced. They gave an incorrect scope of work which was ambiguous. The representative that I spoke to said it was an ambiguous description of what Tesla wanted done to my roof. The roof is 10 years old. The panels are placed in the wrong location. The representative Maddie Memott agreed and said you'll have a correction in the next 48 hours that was on 7/21/21. Since that date I've called nine times with no response back. I spoke to these people working from home. Rina, 8/17, Rina, 7/29, 7/23 Taylor, 7/21 Maddie, 7/12 Mark, 7/1 Jacob, 6/25 Eain, 6/25 Taylor, 6/9 Jeremy The last person Rina I spoke to twice. She said she's clueless. She doesn't understand why management or nobody will call anybody back. She said she gets phone calls like this all the time and she doesn't understand why nobody from Tesla will call the customers back. I asked her would you do business with this company? Her response was, I probably would not. She said I don't understand why they are not returning your calls or assisting you. I told her about the negative reviews online she said I understand why and she works for Tesla, these are recorded phone calls from people. So far I am $100 into this transaction. They "Tesla" want me to replace portion of my roof for $11,000, that doesn't include the cost of my solar system now they won't return phone calls but yet they want me to spend almost $11k before they install, why would I do business with a company that won't return my phone calls I think I need to look elsewhere. read more

We had a 7.2kW Solar System installed. The preparations before install are done remotely, online and with texts. There was one site visit by an experienced solar employee who checked the roof etc. This is different from the handholding that most solar companies will do. However, I liked it as there is a traceability all along the process, not emails back and forth and handoff between employees at the solar company. Simple, automated and it works. We were very happy with the prep, the quality of install and the communication. The price was far better than anyone else. Our previous solar installation 7 yrs ago was by Sullivan Solar who had said, "You want someone with over 20 years in solar to standby it". Well they are out of business now so there are no guarantees. The look of the Tesla panels and inverter are very nice. I am sure from the reviews there have been problems in the past, but based on our experience and from other's who used Tesla recently, the installs now are top quality. Other companies will try to justify high prices based on panel efficiencies, types of inverters and other add-ons. Bottom line is solar has become a commodity, where the price should be low. Tesla's price was the best out there by a long shot. We are very happy with our Tesla solar panels and the improvement in power bills. read more

Puzzled by poor reviews here on Tesla solar panel for long time but finally cannot resist from its decent price, almost half as the offer I received from other solar company. Ordered solar panel on 3/31, installed on mid-April and finally approved by SDGE on 4/28, super fast!!! Follow-up work was done in no time, one crack tile was replaced the hole in the garage celling was filled perfectly. Everything is communicated and processed online without any issue, it may takes few days to get response but overall satisfied. I ordered 8kW panel and now generating 40~50Kwatt everyday. I am a current customer of a Tesla Energy install of a Solar Roof and Power Wall. During the solar roof install they changed the price and stated the price went down. On Oct 28th Lyssa Porter stated the price went down to around 40k andI signed that contract. A few days later AFTER the install was complete they stated the pricing was wrong due an error on their end and now want a higher price of 50k. Currently, project manager Lyssa Porter will not submit the inspection report to my electricity company to turn it on unless I sign the new contact submitted AFTER the install was performed. We have been waiting 40 days for a return call from our project manager with no response. This is classic Bait and Switch. Lyssa also removed our signed contract from the Tesla portal (see attached image). This is unethical and unacceptable. Tesla damaged my home during the install and completely ruined my attic. They have sent a team to do restoration which has been a nightmare. Luckily my attic is almost fixed but my damaged items have not been replaced. Solar city has been a nightmare since day one even prior to installation. They make mistakes on everything. You know the designer put a design of panels under a South facing chimney? That does not make sense. They say it don't shade until I looked and took a pic. Also the sales person Gene Major (apparently he's the top sales guy more like the top sales liar) neglected to get forms for me on time like he promised. Never submitted my sdge bill which delayed things as well as hoa paperwork. I had to escalate to his supervisor Luis Philips who I met with to resolve things. The supervisor was understanding but then I found out 3 weeks later they didn't send my HOA request. After asking several times, Gene says fedex lost it. I'm like done. To put topping on the cake after being approved by Mosic financing they ran my credit 3 times (2 times without my authorization). Fyi when you attempt to get a loan through Mosiac your credit gets ran 2 times and 1 month later 1 more time from a seperate company attached to Mosiac. Both company's don't know, every company pointed the finger at the other. Bottom line, you get your credit report ran 3 times for one loan that's at least 10 points on your credit report in violation of the Federal Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). So I'm shopping around and going elsewhere. I'm so glad I cancelled what a nightmare. Look at their reviews when the other installers are 5 star. Your just a number with Solarcity. They just sent me a email to take care of it for the inquiries. I guess I have to do the leg work and pain to try to get stuff removed. Any other company would have it deleted. Remember. Tesla has been dragging their feet for several months now. I've requested a quote for removal and re-installation of my Tesla solar panels pursuant to a roof inspection and repair. Initially I was told they don't service San Diego in this manner but now apparently they do. On March 28th I was told they were scheduling my area for late May. It takes 2-3 weeks to get a response each time I contact my "removal and reinstallation specialist" or respond to their request for additional info. I've had a tarp covering the affected area since January and am getting zero production from many of my panels. read more

One of the big selling points of SolarCity was their ability to monitor the system remotely and diagnose problems. They have failed miserably. I have had their system for 8 years and have been down (ie producing no power) for at least 6 months during that time due to hardware failures that were not picked up by their live monitoring. It is only because I check out my system when I see my electric bill shoot up that it was noticed that the system was malfunctioning. Perhaps I should be checking more often (weekly?) but this is one of the main reasons I chose them for the installation -- I didn't want to have to check it at all. To add insult to injury, I have been waiting 4 months now for a replacement of a broken wireless gateway so that both SolarCity and I can monitor the system. They can't give me an eta for delivery of this simple router -- "it's on back order." Now I have no idea what's going on. read more

The panels they sold us did not provide us with enough output so we asked Tesla to help with this issue. Straight to the point ... sales person lied to us about everything. I guess they knew they will be bought out so they just lied and con people to sign up. So be very careful. and with Tesla... we are stuck with this bs contract for another 15 year or buy cash $15k for 6 panels and not much of a difference on our electric bill. We got scammed. 11 MONTHS, AND STILL WAITING Tesla has their own bureaucracy, and I've rated each one: Sales/Customer Contact: 0 stars. They lie; they lie without conscience. If their lips are moving it's a lie. I've had four, and not a single thing they've ever said has proven true. I use email for everything now. Design Team: 1 star. "Clearly incompetent" is the best term to use. It took six months for a company that supposedly specializes in exactly this construction to prepare plans that were approved. Installation Team: 5 stars. The single bright spot. They were fast, thorough, friendly, and professional. They answered every question fully and completely, and followed up to make sure I understood the answer. Interconnection Team: 1 star. Seriously; one of the biggest installers doesn't know that they can get final permission in only one day and refuses to use that procedure? That's just corporate arrogance run wild. I did lots of research and knew what I wanted. Several companies offer that system, and I spoke with three different sales reps. In late June, 2017, I signed the Solar City contract for a solar system and Tesla Powerwall. Then the real problems started. It's now early June, 2018, and I still don't have a system. Do not trust your designated representative. Period. Ever. I'm on my fourth, and not a single one tells a consistent or truthful story. I won't even talk to mine anymore after I called out the lies. Not mistakes; lies. If the caller isn't a supervisor I tell them to call back when they have a supervisor on the line. Every communication is confirmed in an email. The system was supposed to be installed in August. By September, when there wasn't even an appointment to install, I was calling to inquire. I was told that the City was sitting on the plans. So I went to my City Building Department and asked. It turned out that the plans had been rejected two weeks earlier. The Inspector said that if the system was installed as designed it would never work; they actually drew the wiring diagram with a short circuit. He said that Solar City submitted the same plan for a dozen homes or more, with cut and paste circuits and multiple violations of the applicable codes. I called the rep back, and told him the plans had been rejected. The next day he said the rejection must have been lost in the mail and they would track it down. I told him I had the rejection notice and reviewed the issues, then scanned and emailed it. A few weeks after that I called and he said that they were waiting for the City to provide the rejection notice! In December, he said that the City was being "tight" on permits, and blamed bureaucrats. The City Inspector told me he'd received nothing from Solar City for at least two months. And he also said that he talks with other cities' inspectors, and that his plan review experiences mirrored other Inspectors. He said Tesla had recently centralized design services, and that he spoke to the responsible person who signs their plans about specific issues common to every design. He described the engineer as "clearly incompetent." The plans were approved a few days after they were submitted again in February, and I got a call to schedule an install date. Two weeks later they called to change the date because, I was told, the inventory that was set aside for me was actually used on another house. A neighbor who used Solar City a couple of years ago said they did the same thing to him. He's a supply chain manager, and said that he couldn't understand setting aside inventory for two months and didn't believe it either. Two weeks before the install I met with an electrician who would supervise the install. A bright spot appeared, as he was thorough, efficient, and professional. He expressed some concern about the original design and asked for some changes, which I approved. Installation day came and they were present bright and early, completing the entire project the second day after a total of about eight hours work. Panels were in; system was in and tested; City Inspector signed off on everything. They walked me through the system, programming the backup system, etc. The system was actually producing more than the design figure! It was a great day. But then it took a full week for the "Interconnection Team" to submit the paperwork to my utility, and I'm told that the utility might take three weeks or more for permission to operate. I might not have an operating system for more than a year from the contract signing! I called the utility, and was told that it might indeed take a month, but that they had a "fast track system" or a few months that would give approval in 24 hours or less. I checked with my Tesla rep - the lying face of the company to me - and he said that Tesla doesn't participate in that process. read more

My poor experience with Tesla/SolarCity:I signed up with them in September 2017...5 months ago. I went with Tesla/Solarcity because of their name and figured they would have the best program and product available. They were the highest price of the three solar companies I interviewed but I went with them because of their name. Everything was fine for about the first 30 days until they told me I had to move my electrical panel because the gas meter was to close to my electrical panel and required trench (through concrete) a line all the way to the street. It took approximately two months for them to get bids. I patiently waited the entire time with little communication...and then I got a revised bid for an additional $8000 more than my original bid. So now my system was over $40,000+. I wasn't clear why I needed to move my electrical panel as none of my other neighbors had to with similar situations. I was told this was new with SDG&E rule. After I contacted SDG&E I didn't really have a clear answer of what was going on. This is where things start to get very frustrating for me. My sales rep didn't have clear answers, my electrical project manager didn't seem to know what she was doing at all!! I start asking basic questions.....I made some calls and did some research and started questioning if I had to move the panel at all. After I started question my electrical project manager from Tesla someone else final reviewed my project and then came back and stated "we don't need to move the panel". So I went 3+ months and a bunch of headaches, bids and confusion when I never even had to move the panel in the first place. If I didn't ask any questions I would've had to pay approximately $8kto $10k more for work that was not even needed...If i didn't question this charge/work I might have done completely unnecessary work. Then my project manager told me my sales rep was fired. Then 2 days later I get a call from my sales rep saying that he's not fired. I start to realize these guys don't know what the hell they're doing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After all this I figured I was back to my original bid as they don't have to do the extra work....then I get a new bid for an additional $3000 higher than my first bid....with NO EXPLANATION of why the extra cost. I couldn't believe how unprofessional this company was and the communication is one of the worst I've dealt with. At first I thought they were trying to get money out of me by doing extra work....but the truth is they are just totally clueless of what they are doing! I don't yelp very much and I've never written a negative review but I believe this company is so poorly managed that I need to post something!!! Update on my 4KW system: The solar system is working good and I am attaching some performance specs to date on the last few months. Currently I am working on getting the battery system in place. It is a Tesla based Li-on battery pack. This is a bit bleeding edge so I am taking an adventure attitude on this one. Their setup is designed to go in a garage. Our garage was converted to a den so I need to set up a battery shed for it close to the main electrical panel. This is kind of a nightmare for them as they really don't make out as well on custom setups but Sam is hanging in there and getting specs from engineering for the requirements for the shed. With out a doubt the worst customer service and purchasing experience I have ever had. They started installing the Tesla solar roof tiles in January of 2021 and did not finish the project until sometime in July 2021. We didn't have a functional/powered solar roof until August 2021, almost 7 months after the work began. The actual placement of the tiles by the roofing team was relatively quick, it was everything afterwards that took forever. Things that happened along the way: -Left garbage, 100s of nails/screws etc., equipment, and pieces of the old roof all over our yard -Attic is completely filled with a layer of old, rotting roof debris that they said they'd clean out but never really did. Dirt still falls into our home through light fixtures, etc. -Huge piles of unused materials and equipment were left in our driveway for months so that we couldn't park there. -Instead of asking us about what to do with our antique, patinated copper gutters they just ripped them off and left them half attached to the house, bent so that they can't really be re attached. The workers told us they would reattach the gutters, but they never did. -Did not ask us about the materials for the metal drip edge so an ugly aluminum one was attached that we had to painstakingly manually paint afterwards. -Ripped out a skylight and slapped a piece of acrylic on top with a few squirts of silicon that leaked every time it rained. We were charged almost $2k extra for the skylight removal/replacement (which they never did) Eventually we gave up on most of our requests, but wouldn't pay until they at least finished the job by fixing the skylight they'd charged us extra for. We'd call at least weekly for updates. Customer service was a complete joke. Often I was left on hold for 20-30 minutes without ever getting through. If I did, they would act surprised and apologize, and promise to follow-up, but no one would ever do a thing. They'd juggle us between different people regularly. Eventually we were warned (threatened?) that we might be sent to a debt collecting agency if we didn't pay (for the contract that they had not fulfilled). We finally got them to remove the extra charge for the skylight and decided to find someone to fix it ourselves and paid just to get them out of our lives. Complete nightmare. Save yourself hours of stress and rage and pick another company. read more

Took a little to get the price negotiated and permits but pretty painless for such a large purchase. I was impressed by the efficiency and professionalism of the survey and install crew. Production has always been a little low compared to promise in design but not overwhelmingly so. After 2.5 years of use the system went down. During a phone call to troubleshoot I was told they needed to replace a part and I would be contacted the next work day to schedule. Nobody ever called. Later in the week I reached out and couldn't really get an answer about the status of the repair. I tried calling each week to find out what was going and around week 4 a rep told me this part would take four to six weeks to arrive. I waited until 2 months passed the breakdown and reached out again and was not given a straight answer. Messages up the chain in customer service go unanswered. I recently got an automated message I am on the schedule for a fix. The date has been changed twice (now set for 3 months after breakdown) so I am skeptical it will actually happen. Tesla is still installing solar panels in my area so the part must be available but they value new customers over existing. Every time I go to Home Depot, there they are just bothering you. So one day I stopped to Talk to one of them. They came to my house and made their presentation, a very pushie one at that. So finally I give in and Solar City schedules a Site Survey and about a week later their guy comes to my property and starts his survey. Their rate sound good, their system is supposed to be top of the line so after the guy leaves he tells me that it'll take about a week to get an answer... It's been 5 weeks already and No one knows anything. The Representative never answered my calls or emails. So pushy to get your business but they can't even get back to you with questions you may have or even an update! What a Joke! If they can't provide basic support and updates in their initial stages then I don't want anything to do with their business! Communication and priority is Key for a business. A total waste of time. They mince the words on the contract and call it something else but bottom line is banks and lenders (refi) will see it as a lien on your property. You have to be totally delusional to go with Solar City/Tesla, these guys are the WORST, customer service sucks, most times they don't ever return email inquires, never less than 45 - 60 minute wait to speak to them on the phone, and then totally useless when you do! Billing errors, you name it... I recently found out that my roof is in horrible condition, and is in critical need of being replaced so the solar system should never been installed in the first place (roofers words not mine), but I do have a clause in my contract that they'll (Tesla) remove the system so I can have the roof repaired or replaced, problem being they have a 5 MONTH wait! 5 months are you kidding me! I am happy to report that my system is functioning and it appears as though my issues with Solar City have been resolved (time will tell). I am hopeful that remaining 19+ years on my contract turns into a positive experience. At this time, I am not going to improve Solar City's rating because I still don't consider my experience with Solar City to be a good one. I can't recover my wasted time that was spent in trying to resolve these issues. Pros: Don't know of any - maybe the PPA lease if you are cash strapped. Cons: Poor team and technically ill informed hires. Experience 1: As a Tesla owner I wanted to have a high powered charger installed at my home. First I called SolarCity since Elon Musk is one of their directors and there is some relationship between the companies as a result. Solar City Quotes: $2,000 Licensed Electrician #1 quotes: $700 Licensed Electrician #2 quotes: $670 Went with the lower bid and have been 100% satisfied, and there is nothing SolarCity does or offered to do different - just pure and simple price gouging. Experience 2: They call and email me and want to sell me a solar system. I make an appointment. The guy shows up at the house, but never comes to the door, says hello or anything. I get a phone call later that day and he quotes me $100,000 for a ground mount system. This is how they manage a relationship they want to get $100K of business from? I already had quotes from other reputable companies for significantly less... so I tell them "thanks but not really interested given how off-market their quote is". No offer to explain why they are worth $$$ more or why their offer is so much more than the other two solution providers. Nothing. Experience 3: Get another email from them - offering a PPA where I pay a fixed rate per month to SolarCity rather than SDG&E for the power I use from a solar system they would like to install at my home. I asked to have a ground mount system as I just don't like the look of roof mount solutions. The lady emails me back stating that they would be happy to design a ground-mount system but that "SDG&E would refuse to give permission to turn on" for ground-mount solar systems. Not what I was told with that nice $100,000 quote... Anyway, this is just wrong information. In fact, I have 12 neighbors with ground-mounted solar systems and their never was or has been any issue with SDG&E objecting to a ground-mount system. In fact, Sullivan Solar is installing a ground mounted solar system right next door to me all this week. For reference, it's around $41,000 for 8.5kW ground mount system before rebates of $12,000 or $29,400. Yep you are seeing the price gouging again. I had no intention of giving them any business, but was curious, so I emailed the lady "Lisa" at SolarCity back and asked her to email me a link to the regulation where SDG&E has communicated limitations or refusals to permit ground mounted solar panels... crickets sounds - no reply. So at best, you will probably pay 2X or 3X market rates for a similar solar product/solution. So good luck on making your money back in your lifetime. At worst, the incompetence you will experience from the customer facing employees and sales staff may be systemic and your twice or three times the price solar system will also be twice the pain to get working due to incompetence at the permitting and installation phases. read more

The sales people called and came over in person to sell me the whole going solar experience. Everything was great until we got down to the real truth..the bottom line..I will have to pay out of my pocket $19,000.00 If I move and the buyers of my home do not want to take over the lease or if I can not take the system with me due to the new home roof not qualify for solar, example I have the wrong type of roof, clay tile, wood shingles, or large shading trees. THEY WILL NOT LET ME MOVE UNTIL THE BALANCE IS PAID IN FULL!!!! They guy told me not to worrie, I told him to put it in writing that I will be free if this situation comes up. Do yourself a favor and pick any other solar company. I signed up in October and now it is the end of April and I still have NOTHING from SolarCity. I finally had to cancel the agreement and to date have not even had any response. Meanwhile I contacted ACRO (in San Diego) last week and my system is up and running. read more

A wolf in sheep's clothing. I'm coming up on 18 months and what started out as a green move to save energy and money has me seeing red. My solar contract states that if the energy produced by my roof exceeds Solar City's estimate, I would have to pay $0.17/kwh. No big deal right? My goodness, these people should have this to a science, right? Wrong. Each month of the year, Solar City underestimated my solar production so I have a gap in what I've overproduced, each month of the year. I now have to pay the difference because my system produced too much green energy? WTF? Why on God's Green Earth would producing more Green Energy from a red tile rooftop that Solar City inspected, cost me more? Shouldn't I have gotten a blue ribbon and a call from the White House? Nope, I get a "true up" bill. Beware of this language. It should be called the "BS bill" It's in the contract, but who would think that their estimates are understated? I guess there is a sucker born every minute. This was the bait and now I'm on their hook for 20 years. There are a lot of positive feelings about Green Energy. I love the sun shing down on my roof, but now I'm rooting for more overcast days each month so my system doesn't over-produce! I know, right? BEWARE, Savings are not what they appear. So a year later and still not fixeSo fourth time in a years time the inverter panel has failed. Each time offline for a month as they claim parts backordered. Still have to pay for service even while you are offline for extended periods even if you are producing zero energy. This company does not even try to help or work with you to fix the issues. Keep replacing bad parts with bad parts instead of switching out the entire defective Inverter panel. Sold me when they were Solar City and now when anyone asks my advice of who to use when looking for solar I simply tell them anyone but Tesla. I am the point now where I am asking for advice on how to legally get out of the contract as Tesla does not live up to their end of the deal. Customer service is zero help. Always thought my next vehicle would be electric and a Tesla but if this is how they treat customers I will wait until a better option comes along. I also wish I could give zero stars. I have been a Solar City customer for a few years and understand that I did sign a contract and 100 percent sure that they explain everything in fine print. Some things to be aware of that they do not tell you up front or are very vague about. The sales person completely sold me on some things that was not what was what was stated in the contract. Annual pricing is not locked in for life of lease as the sales person who sold it was so quick to say that was one of the benefits of going with Solar City. Have had price increases every year of system. System has had bad inverter twice and when without solar for a month each time no attempt made to reimburse via billing for lack of production. (So they continue to bill even though system not producing). They keep claiming all based on annual production. I still think solar was the right and responsible way to go but maybe should have gone with a better company and maybe not done a lease. Very disappointed at this point with Solar City but shame on me for not having a lawyer look at the fine print for me. This company is a SCAM....go elsewhere So 2 months later and solar still not fixed...cAnnot stress enough to STAY away from this company. read more

STAY AWAY!!!! FAR FAR AWAY!!!! I should have cancelled the contract the moment I started smelling the BS. It took them almost a year to install the system (the right hand does not talk to the left) they came multiple times punched unnecessary holes in my walls, I actually made them redo some of the work at one point. My biggest problem is the sales tactics, I and a few other people I spoke with did not get the full information not only that we got misleading information. Bills are A LOT higher then my utility bill would be! If you want solar go with another company, I'm paying 13k more for the system then other bids I got from smaller outfits since I thought I am getting the peace of mind of a large company standing behind their operation and product - Clearly not true! The absolute worst customer service I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Solar installation was complete on 4/29 and Tesla is paid in full. Now they are telling us it will another 90 days before they can send an email to SDG&E to get us started. After completion, we were told 2 weeks. It's now been 5 weeks and after calling every single day and receiving a myriad of reasons on why they can't contact the power company, no one there seems to know what's going on. If I could give them a big fat zero, I would. Save your sanity and use another company. read more
