They seated us right away! I love the vibes of the place, it's beautiful and inviting, but not pretentious. Our waitress was the best. She knew it was our anniversary and gave us a little bubbly to toast to. We also made it for happy hour (5 pm - 6 pm on weekdays, and 5 pm - 6 pm on weekends only at the bar)! All the small plates on the left side of the menu were half off! We immediately ordered drinks (the $10 happy hour cocktail - a blackberry bourbon smash for my husband, and a mocktail for me). We then ordered the shishito peppers, 2 of the pickled beet deviled eggs, and the roasted oysters with chili oil. They came out super fast, and it was delicious. The shishitos had that great char flavor along with a great dipping sauce. You can never go wrong with deviled eggs. Then we decided to order the fried oysters and the bread with corn butter. The fried oysters were the star of the small plates. Cooked so well. Freshly fried, you bite into it and it was juicy and delicious on the inside. Just so good. The bread and butter? Ugh, my dream butter and bread. Just so delicious. The butter was slightly sweet from the corn and had flakes of sea salt on tip, making it the perfect sweet and salty combo. We also got the salad (local produce!), and our waitress knew we were sharing ao she had the kitchen put it on 2 plates. Such a great touch. The salad was fantastic. After eating lobster rolls for a day, this was a much needed salad. It was refreshing, bright, and light! For our main entrees, we got the seared local squid and the strip steak. It was INCREDIBLE. Everything had so much flavor. The squid was cooked well, wasnt chewy. Just delicious. The crispy rice was the BEST THING I HAVE EVER EATEN. I wish we could order bowls of it. My husband finished it, couldn't get enough of it. The steak was fantastic as well. The potato with the bearnise sauce was so dreamy. The little onions on the steak, all the little touches were so well done. We knew we had to get dessert. We got a scoop of the black raspberry ice cream, a scoop of corn and blueberry swirl ice cream, and the lavender honey panna cotta. Guys. You 100% must get dessert. The corn blueberry ice cream was unreal. I dont know how you get all that flavor into ice cream. They dont skimp on the honey on the panna cotta. And it went so well with the more mild panna cotta. The black raspberry was a little icy because they froze whole blackberries in it, but at least you know they were trying to make sure you got blackberries in there. With happy hour, the bill wasn't too bad. This was hands down our favorite meal of our week long road trip. I can't wait to come back. I would 100% make a detour to eat here. Parking is pretty difficult around here. I would probably just Uber if I was coming here on a weekend. I need to come here for breakfast at some point.

(Reservations are a must unless you come here early enough to luck out at the bar. When we got there at around 5, the couple in front of us was told that the next available slot was at 9!). My favorite of what we ordered: the bucatini. All of their pastas come in either an appetizer or an entree portion. Now that I'm reading their online menu description online, I think they switched it up based on seasonal availability of ingredients. Ours was a mushroom cream based-sauced and it was heavenly - thick and luscious without being too one-note or overwhelming. The pasta itself was also cooked just slightly al dente, which is my preference. I went with the skirt steak. This was a highly out of character moment for me, as I almost always opt for the seafood option over the steak, particularly at a restaurant known for its seafood, but hear me out. My favorite part of a steakhouse is always the sides. The sides that came with the skirt steak included shishito peppers, a beautifully "feuille" style of potatoes (think the crepe layer cakes, only in deep fried potato form), and a seacoast mushroom (with the most beautiful precise knife cuts). Truly a feast for all of the senses. Also tried my friend's squid but I preferred the skirt steak. The crispy rice was good but extremely greasy. We were too full for dessert in the moment and then ended up getting ice cream from the place over the drawbridge.

The facility itself was well maintained and clean - unfortunately the ticket printing machine at the ray touching pool was broken, which resulted in a ~15 minute delay in line, which kind of sucked. One thing that didn't sit quite right with me was the seal show. Maybe I was reading into it too much, but a lot of it felt like the seals were trained for our entertainment, and not in the name of conservation or animal welfare; the experience felt closer to SeaWorld than for the benefit of the animals. Overall a fan of the aquarium though, great experience.

The Mystic Aquarium was small and dirty. Some of the environments seemed way too small for the creatures in them. The penguins seemed to be happy in their little group, and the seals seemed to enjoy just basking in the sun. Everything else felt way too tiny for the fish, and I mostly just felt sad the entire time. I'm also pretty sure I saw a dead jellyfish. As an adult, the ticket price is way too high for what you get. They also had a number of up-sell/add-on options not included in the regular ticket price. I think, if you have some young kids, you might be able to squeeze a little bit of magic out of this experience, but otherwise I found the Mystic Aquarium to be far too depressing.

The reality of the situation was that after several biting instances, putting her down was becoming a real possibility. My research led me to Nik K9NS. I hired Nick in April of 2021 for my dog Finn, who was becoming increasingly aggressive and…read moredangerous. I was desperate to find someone to help us as nothing I had been doing was helping (including working with other trainers). After meeting Nick and speaking with several of his clients I decided to hire him. I chose the lifelong package which was $10,000 due to the severity of Finn's behaviors. This was not an easy decision as $10,000 is an INSANE amount of money, but Finn was only 2.5 years old, my best friend, and we had so many more years together. -Nick has a way with animals that is very calming. When Nick entered the house Finn's demeanor changed (for the better), almost like a switch went off and the Finn we knew was back. -During the decision process, Nick told me to choose anyone from his google reviews to speak with regarding their experience. He provided their number, and I gave them a call and was able to ask plenty of questions. -Nick does things in a very unorthodox way, but many things did work well for us. Keeping an open mind while working with Nick is a must. -The reviews that state Nick uses water and flicks it at dogs is very true, and it honestly worked great for Finn as it would snap him out of his intense moments and allow him to come back to himself. -One review stated Nick doesn't stay the full session length. I can't speak on this as I did the lifelong plan rather than paying per session. But, I never had an issue with shorter sessions as we based the length on Finn and what he needed that day. -His website emphasizes the use of "positive reinforcement" which is true. However, he also uses what I consider "negative reinforcement" such as water, nose tapping, collar corrections, and vocal corrections. I had no issue with this as I was NOT seeking a positive only dog trainer, but it is a bit misleading. -Nick was not great when being questioned. I wanted to understand why we were doing something and not just blindly follow. He tended to use excuses when I questioned him or state "this is how it is done". I often felt as though my questions were not fully answered or taken seriously. -Nick was often late to our sessions without any heads up, which I found extremely frustrating. However, when I made it clear I needed communication he was better at letting him know when he was running late. -I almost did not hire Nick based on his contact. My two main issues were: 1.No payment plan was available. I chose a plan which cost $10,000 and coming up with that money all upfront is extremely unrealistic for most people and is off putting. 2.There are no check-in periods or any way to hold Nick accountable. I would have appreciated every 2 months or so to have a scheduled session to sit down and go over our progress and struggles.. As the client I often did not feel seen and would have liked a formal "review" period as I was often met with excuses and denial when I brought up my issues/concerns. In the end things didn't go as we hoped with Finn, I will not go into detail regarding this as it is not relevant. Nick did not fail Finn in any way, Finn's issues were beyond anyone's help and in the end we had to do what was best for Finn himself and those around Finn as he became too dangerous. Overall, I don't regret hiring Nick as I was investing in Finn and how could I possibly regret trying all I could to save him? However, what does not sit well with me is that I invested $10,000 when we only worked together for 4 months (I didn't "spend" even half that amount in sessions), and I did not feel supported in the end. In fact, very much so the exact opposite, which is outrageous considering the circumstances.
