This restaurant is an unbelievable find. Located out of the way in Menan, Idaho, everything, and I mean everything, was as good as any European or American fine dining restaurant. At first I thought it was too expensive considering the area and where it was located. I quickly changed my opinion. It would compete anywhere for quality, service and ambiance. I had the Wagyu ribeye and it was cooked just as I wanted, the potatoes were very tasty but the biggest surprise was the Brussel sprouts that were sautéed in their special sauce. When we asked for a specific type of wine the owner, Mike, came over with his sommelier to help us choose and then recommended to me a special Scotch he had just received. We liked this place so well that we returned two nights later. We will return when next in southeast Idaho. read more

Christine was a great server! We went for Valentine's Day special and she helped make it more special by bringing me (the wife) a single red rose. I'm pretty sure that this was her special touch since the other couples served by other waiters/waitresses did not have one. We've been to Teton House before and I will say that the mushroom hors d'oeuvre is really, really good. The Brussel sprout petals are pretty good too. The food is very rich and it is pricey, so you want to make sure that you are in the mood for it when you go. We happened on this restaurant while passing through Rigby, ID. It was truly a wonderful experience. Mike, the proprietor and chef knows how to cook a steak. The au gratin potatoes and brussel sprouts were so scrumptious! Oh, and the bread pudding for dessert rounded out our amazing meal. Mike and his wife also have an appreciation for fine wine to go with the meals. He shared a bottle of Italian wine with us. I want my money back! Worst experience in a long time for me and my wife. We started off by being seated in a cold and very drafty patio that they had covered with plastic and tin roofing. Asked one of the employees to turn on one of the portable propane heaters. It got so hot even on the lowest setting that not only did our table ask for it to be turned off but also the table next to us. We spent the remainder of the evening, either freezing our as# off or being too hot to be comfortable because of the poor insulation and lack of environmental control. Next up we ordered the coconut shrimp as an appetizer. First bite something obviously wrong. Still mostly raw inside. They took it back and brought one back out that was cooked properly. Next up we ordered our main course. I got the alfredo pasta with scallops. Wife got sunshine salad. Salad according to wife had no taste and shrimp tasted off. As for my main course the taste was good but it arrived cold and to make matters worse the scallops were raw and not seared or cooked at all. That's right 100% raw. At this point we had had enough and didn't want to complain again. Just wanted to get some to go boxes and get the hell out! Then, when we received the check we noticed this place now adds a $5 fee for those paying with a credit card. What a slap in the face. Save your money and go somewhere else folks! Table to our right also had a bad experience they said as we all walked out at the same time. I wondered because as we were walking out his steak maybe had 1 or 2 bites out of it at most. The lady of the couple said it was horrible. We won't be stepping foot in this dive ever again. This place has gone downhill and needs a wake up call! read more

Went here with my husband for dinner about a year ago, and I loved everything about it. Fantastic food, amazing service, wonderful dessert. It was such a fun date night that I wanted to go back on my birthday. We went for lunch on my birthday and it was a completely different experience. The service was awful this time around. The place wasn't even busy, with several empty tables around us. But our waiter was no where to be found, and our wait time was way too long given the empty dining room. My entree was terrible this time around. I got the smoked chicken and it was just so huge and awkward, I couldn't even really eat it. I also couldn't get past how rubbery and pink it was. I had about two bites then I was done. When the waiter did finally come around, it wasn't to check on us and refill our drinks, it was to give us our bill and tell me that the chicken was supposed to come out like that. So I'm pretty torn on this place. First experience was fantastic, definitely worth 5 stars. Second experience was awful. Maybe don't go during lunchtime ‍ read more

We ate lunch here on Thursday, August 1. This has been one our favorite 'special occasion' places for a few years now, and sadly we will not be returning. Before yesterday, nearly everything we had was excellent (with the exception of the tomato soup!) We first noted dramatic price increases. Not happy, but everything has gone up, so okay. We then noted changes in the menu and some of our favorite items were gone. We ordered jalapeño poppers and instead of 6 poppers overflowing with oozy goodness, there were 4 limp peppers wrapped in burnt bacon with a sauce tasting of processed cheese. The hamburger had decent flavor, but seemed a rather scanty 1/3 lb (1/2 lb no longer an option) and the bacon was burnt. We both had fries, just this side of burnt. Not too bad when hot and fresh, but cooled to a mushy, overcooked mess. Sadly my Prime Rib Teton Dip was inedible. No longer was the bread crusty on the outside and chewy on the inside, but tasted like what you get in a plastic bag at the local grocery. I had chosen sourdough, but the bread had no sourdough flavor. Previously the medium rare juicy meat was piled high, but now there were only a few slices with burned edges and subpar Swiss cheese. It left me wishing I had gone to Arby's for a French Dip at a fraction of the price and much better texture and flavor. The server was very apologetic and received permission to not charge for my uneaten sandwich and fries. I will truly miss the Teton House. Two stars for the helpful server. read more

We also had a bacon wrapped tenderloin and someone else had a rib eye steak. All the meat was prepped with nice flavors and tender. We went to the Teton House after hearing so much raving about it. It's a must to make reservations or you may not get a seat and it's a long drive to Menan from the Shelley area. First I must say that our service was excellent! Very responsive and courteous. Now on to the food! I ordered the porterhouse steak and the steak was huge! It was a little over cooked to my liking and very bland. It had zero flavor of any spices or seasonings. Also there were zero options for sides. All I could get was the Au gratin potatoes which were ok but also bland and deep fried Brussels sprout petals which had great flavor but were extremely grease soaked. My wife had the prime rib and said it was okay but she has had better. She also thought the food was bland and wasn't worth the cost. We also had the seared Ahi Tuma as an appetizer and it was pretty good. The wasabi with this tuna was the hottest I've ever had. It was very good. Although the tuna slices were thick and huge so you end up with a slab of cold raw fish. I understand this is the normal way to eat ahi but it was too much for me. For what we ordered that night it was about $150 for the two of us after tipping. I wasn't a fan and wouldn't buy anything but a burger and fries there after that night. Good luck! read more

I did not expect to have one of the best meals of my life when I walked into Teton House. The main dining area is half sports bar, half Old West restaurant with a wine bar in the corner. There's a board with specials right when you walk in, it had about 12 specials when we visited. We started with appetizers and soups including the bacon-wrapped scallops, bacon-wrapped shrimp, and crab chowder. The scallops and shrimp would have been great on their own, but wrap them in bacon and add a balsamic reduction for the scallops and sweet Thai chili sauce for the shrimp and you get some of the best scallops and shrimp I've ever had! The crab chowder was also one of the best chowders I've ever had. I'm sad I got a cup instead of a bowl. For the main course I split their famous Tomahawk steak dinner for two. It's about a 45 minute wait for the massive steak to cook to a rare/medium-rare degree of doneness. It came with Brussels sprout leaves, au gratin potatoes, and garlic bread. The leaves tasted like Brussels sprout Lay's chips: light, crispy, and salty. Everyone loved them. The au gratin sauce was incredibly flavorful. The one thing that could have been improved was the potatoes themselves. They were a bit hard and raw. They tasted better when I reheated them in a skillet the next day. The steak was high quality and tender. Paired amazingly well with the Napa Cab I brought (only $10 corkage fee!). My fiancée ordered the filet medallions. They were incredibly tender and I would highly recommend them. Her cousin ordered the ribeye with scallops and while I didn't get to try it, it looked amazing. I would eat here weekly if I lived nearby. Unfortunately I live 725 miles away so it will have to be a nice annual feast. read more

This is a weird review. The food here was pretty good: my French dip sandwich was superb, and the nacho appetizer was both huge and delicious, but my fries were unexpectedly soggy and meh. The service was also solid: There were tons of people on the staff, and they were attentive and accurate with their service. Now the weird part: When I went to the bathroom I overheard music playing in the kitchen. It was kind of a catchy sounding song I hadn't heard before, so I stopped the listen, and I was flabbergasted by the slow realization that it was some kind of racist, white nationalist rap music about how white people are discriminated against and violence is needed to protect them. It is rural Idaho, and there's an unfortunate and apparently accurate reputation for that kind of thing, but it definitely did not sit well with me. I was there for a celebration of someone I care about, and I didn't want to ruin their day by causing a scene, so I didn't do anything about it. To my shame. Racism merits a 1 star review, good sandwich notwithstanding, but I want to give them the benefit of my doubt about the extent to which the music was intentional or even something the front of house staff was really aware of. As a white person my racism radar might be poorly attuned, but I didn't necessarily get those vibes from the wait staff. Anyway, if you're on staff there reading this, please take it under advisement and fix this. Never let it happen again. Your food is solid, your building has character, but racism and hate are abhorrent, and I hope you'll figure out what's happening in the kitchen and fix it. read more

I do not even know where to start..... AMAZING! My date took me to the Teton House for my 50th birthday. We sat at the bar and had a few drinks. Bartender was so wonderful. She was very friendly and the restaurant had a great atmosphere. We ordered our food, my date got the aged ribeye steak with scallops which was utterly delicious. I had the salmon and picked the lemon cream topping. The owner came out about that time and was talking to us at the bar. When I mentioned I got the salmon he asked me what topping and I told him, he said I will be right back and changed it to the salsa cruda di pomodoro. PERFECTION! I am not exaggerating when I say this place gave me one of the best meal I've ever had. Appetizer, entree, and dessert. Incredible. This place is TINY! It's also completely in the middle of nowhere. If you are planning on going there at dinner time on a Saturday I'd call in advance to reserve. I'm pretty sure it's the only restaurant for miles. The decor was kind of rustic and hole in the wall like but really nice and clean. There is a bar, a few tables, and some booths. There is also a few TVs. We ordered Bacon wrapped scallops as an appetizer and got a Caesar salad and lobster chowder with our meals. The salad was a good Caesar. Tasty dressing, well balanced, nothing fancy but good. The chowder was very satisfying. The lobster was pretty good but the flavor of the actual soup was excellent. I can't even begin to tell you how incredible the bacon wrapped scallops were. They were plated beautifully. It was 3 large scallops wrapped in quality bacon drizzled with a teriyaki glaze on a bed of salad. The scallops were cooked absolutely perfectly and the flavor of the whole dish was amazing. I highly recommend this appetizer. For our entrees my husband and I both ordered the special... A Rib eye served with au gratin potatoes, asparagus, and a tiny piece of garlic bread. We both asked for medium rare. Mine was perfectly cooked but my husbands steak (that was a lot thicker) was more rare than medium rare but he didn't mind. The flavor of the steak was mind blowing! It was an amazing natural flavor. You could really tell these steaks were a great quality. They served it with some kind of creamy peppery sauce that was delicious. The asparagus was cooked to perfection The potatoes were really delicious. We order the lemon raspberry cheesecake and chocolate caramel fudge cake. Both delicious. I recommend taking the chocolate cake home and having it with a big glass of milk. The service was ok. It was really busy so the service was pretty slow. Literally the only bad thing I can say about this place is that there is no actual AC besides a window unit and we were seated on the opposite side of the room. It was VERY warm in there and since the service was slow we were out of water a lot. It made it pretty uncomfortable. ***SUMMARY*** Incredible food! Really really awesome food. Unique. First Timers for a nice date night! Made reservations, and were sat immediately. & food was amazing. We started out with the stuffed mushrooms and nachos as appetizers--the nachos are definitely a bigger serving size than we had anticipated but not disappointed, excited to eat them tomorrow!! I had the bite sized Wagyu entree while my husband had the New York steak entree. We've never eaten Brussel Sprouts as a salad but that was probably was my favorite thing. Super homey, cozy place. Staff was welcoming and hospitable. The only thing is we were also told by a friend to wear a little dressier than casual attire but maybe next time I will wear jeans and nice sweater next time. She orders these from other restaurants that only serve a full plate of 8. Don't know why only 3. For the cost we were very disappointed. The waitress and Service were very good though. read more
