Let's start from the beginning... This was my first time coming and I'll for sure be back. They have a cute patio with games and a TV that played music videos. Jazmine greeted me with a big smile and was very pleasant. I asked how we get our food if we are outside and she explained the process with a smile. We ordered the fried wings and curry omg you get sooooooo much with your meal. You get cabbage, Mac and cheese, red beans and rice and lemonade. Then there's. Random who handed me our food with a smile. Their smiles are beautiful and contagious my niece and I give a chefs kiss and 10/10!!!!

I don't like to give low ratings but the system here for ordering should be addressed for a better experience for the customer. When you walk up there are two lines outside. One is for walk in and the other is for people who have already ordered. The security guard tells you when it's your time to go inside to stand in another line to order or pick up. Mind you the lines inside are semi crossed and confusing, so if the guard does not walk you in and point you to the correct spot you might be in the wrong line or unknowingly cut someone. There's a large menu board but it does not have the full menu stating the cost for additional sides, drinks or combos. And if they run out of items you don't know until you're at the window. When you get to the window they have a paper menu, I'm not sure why it is not available before reaching the window which would be convenient and save time. After I stood in line I ordered and received my number. They do not call names or numbers, I was told to get in the other line after 30 minutes, bruh! The food is good but dang near lost my appetite after so much confusion and lack of organization. They accept Zelle and Apple Cash.

Had the oxtail here and it was my first time having oxtail but it was fantastic. The oxtail is so soft and tender, you can scrape the meat off the bones really easily. The their Mac and cheese was a little too cheesy for my liking however.

Itis!! Food coma!! This will be your result after eating from Tev's Kitchen. You're looking at Oxtail, Rice, Mac 'n cheese and Cabbage. I also purchased Wings, something I don't normally order. I saw the glistening sauce on a wing someone was eating, and I was curious. Don't skip on the cabbage. It's so tasty and perfecrly spicy which made it hard to stop eating. I purchased this order to go, arriving home over an hour later. I did not warm the food, and dove into the oxtail. They were small but plentiful, perfectly seasoned and the meat fell off the bone becoming addicting. I ate a couple of the tender wings and used the sauce as lipstick. Finger licking good. You'll love the wings . The Mac 'n Cheese will be your demise. It was tepid by the time I got home, but with every bite it was richer and more indulgent. Each bite was gooey, creamy and felt like a warm hug. I can only imagine how rich it would taste hot. I also loved the diversity of people in the restaurant. So many different cultures coming to share a meal. Good food brings people together. Parking is difficult but you'll find it. If you're lucky, you'll see the house with the cats and chickens.

The food here is amazing, they serve you such a good amount with two sides and a drink. The ambiance here is awesome and love that they have indoor and outdoor seating and lots of outdoor activities to do while waiting for your food. I LOVE TEVS KITCHEN!

One of the best meals I've had this year. The oxtail and mac & cheese were standouts, everything was packed with flavor. Portions are generous enough that one plate can easily feed two. The covered outdoor seating area is a nice touch. If you can, call ahead to order. Worth the wait!

Jerk & garlic sauces weren't needed.

Nice covered patio area outside to eat and a few booths inside. Security guard is on site. Second visit and Tev's does not disappoint. Service was straight to the point. Enjoyed steak, mac n cheese and broccoli. A complementary cup of Koolaid was a nice treat.

6 stars if I could. I think about this place everyday. if someone asked me "where is the best food in LA you've ever been?" without even thinking I would say here. you will have absolutely zero regrets. absolutely phenomenal.

Caribbean soul food restaurant with delicious food and generous portions. Service was friendly The menu is small so it was easy to choose what we wanted to try. We had four platters and it was so much food-oxtail, goat curry, jerk chicken and fried (boneless) chicken. Love the bold flavors of the food here. Every platter was served with mac & cheese, rice and peas, cabbage and fried plantains plus sweet iced kool aid. The oxtail was AMAZING and the jerk chicken was some of the best I've tried. The oxtail was very tender in a savory sauce that went really well over the rice and beans. The jerk chicken was well seasoned with a great smoky flavor. The goat curry was meaty and flavorful. The fried boneless chicken was good but I loved everything rise even more. The mac and cheese is so good too and I wish my stomach had more room. Definitely recommend Tex's kitchen!

Tev's Kitchen is the truth!! Hands down the best Jamaican spot in Los Angeles. Everything is perfectly seasoned and packed with flavor. The oxtails and short ribs were tender and full of flavor. The mac and cheese was delicious, and the cabbage was amazing. The Kool-Aid took me straight back to my childhood. And don't skip the cakes--the yellow caramel cake was incredible!

I'd been wanting to try this place for a while but was a little hesitant about spending $42 on an oxtail plate. I'm all for supporting Black-owned businesses, but the price gave me pause. I ordered online early and was number seven, so I didn't have to wait outside, which was definitely a plus. When I arrived, it took a few minutes to be acknowledged, and I was redirected a couple of times without clear communication. I expected an ID check, but the process felt excessive: having to show my email, ID, credit card, and then Apple Pay. I wouldn't have even been able to place the order or show up without matching info, so it felt a bit unnecessary. That said, I'm aware they do give a generous portion, and the food was good. However, I've had comparable oxtail plates in LA for less, so while I'm glad I finally got to try it, I'm not sure I'd go out of my way for it again.

I used to come here regularly, and I liked the place enough that I even chose them to cater an event for my job. I gave them a specific headcount and explained how much food we would need. They assured me that everything would be taken care of, so I trusted them and put a lot of hype behind the restaurant. Unfortunately, the catering experience was a major disappointment. Not only was our order late, but there was barely enough food for everyone. After being clear about the number of people attending and trusting their team to properly prepare for the event, it felt like they completely dropped the ball. I had recommended and hyped up this place, only for the experience to be subpar and for several things to go wrong. It honestly felt like they played in my face, especially after assuring me that everything was handled. I would have given this place five stars based on the food and my previous experiences, but that catering situation left such a sour taste in my mouth that I haven't returned in quite some time. Loyalty should mean something, and it's difficult to continue supporting a business when you don't feel respected or valued as a customer. The food is still delicious, and I truly enjoyed this place for a long time. But after that experience, I don't think I'll be coming back. I'm sorry, because I really wanted to continue supporting them.

This area is not familiar to us at all, and we don't normally eat (for us) exotic cuisine. But, we were in the mood to try something new, so we stopped here. It's a colorful, cheerful little place. I think there are only like 4 tables. Apparently, it is mostly takeout. This became evident when our food was "served". We ordered a large two-meat plate and two large fried chicken plates. The two meats were "brown stew chicken" and curry goat. The meat is served in thick savory gravy/sauce. The "plates" are served with rice and fried plantains. The brown stew chicken was good. The curry goat was really good. Here's where the experience really veered sharply from our normal dining experience. The "plates" were served in takeout fold-over boxes with plastic forks. The meat itself was pretty much all adhered to bones. It was tender and delicious, but eating with our hands doesn't come naturally. So, I asked for a knife, and the sweet woman who takes the orders looked at me and said they don't have knives, and that we "just have to dig down into it". Indeed. She did give me a second plastic fork though, which I used. Nice workers. Authentic food. Huge portions. New experience which we all enjoyed.

After craving Jamaican food for what feels like forever, I finally decided to search Yelp on my way…read morehome from working in LA and came across The Taste of the Caribbean in Long Beach - and wow, this hit the spot in a way I've been missing for too long. For context, I've always loved Jamaican food and even have family who make incredible, authentic dishes, but I haven't had anything close to that in a year. So my expectations? High. My craving? Even higher. I ordered the jerk chicken dinner with peas & rice and cabbage medley, and some plantains - to go. First off, the service was amazing. The woman who helped me was genuinely warm and welcoming, and you can tell she cares about what she's serving. When I ordered, she asked if I wanted the jerk sauce on the side and made sure I was okay with the spice level when I said no. That attention to detail matters. The food came out quickly (it was mid-afternoon and not busy), and everything stayed warm all the way home--which is always a win for takeout. Now let's talk about the food: The portion was generous, the flavors were on point, and everything tasted fresh. The jerk chicken had that perfect smoky, spicy kick - exactly what I was hoping for. The rice and peas and cabbage medley were a great balance to the heat, and the plantains were sweet and perfectly cooked. I did notice another review complaining about the spice level being too high... and honestly, I had to laugh a little. Have you had jerk chicken before? It's supposed to be spicy - that's the whole point. Personally, that comment is part of what made me choose this place, and it delivered. If you don't like spice, jerk might not be your thing - but I'm sure there are milder options if you ask. Bonus: they offer online ordering and delivery through Uber Eats and Postmates, which makes it even easier to get your fix. Overall, this place brought back the flavors I've been missing for so long. I'll absolutely be back - and probably sooner rather than later.
