A road hazard took out the front sunroof on my 2015 Pathfinder. I had a previously positive experience at Caliber, so I stopped in and got an estimate for $1434.15, including 8.4 hours. USAA told me to try Texas Auto Tops of Austin. My partner called them and gave them my credit card to cover my $500 deductable. They had the part in two days from Nissan-no aftermarket glass available yet. Nissan gets $847.44 for the sunroof. I didn't have to make an appointment or leave my car for the day. They did it in a little over an hour while I waited, so Caliber's 8.4 hour estimate was grossly over estimated (and over priced). Becca runs the front desk there in an extremely friendly, professional and competent manner. If I wasn't already retired, I would have tried to hire her. In the today's highly competive employment market she is a jewel. If she was working for me I would make sure she was paid well and otherwise treated well. Gals like her don't grow on trees and you need to protect your claim when you have one working for you. The manager there also seemed very competent and Becca spoke highly of him, even when he wasn't arround. I'm thinking about buying a new car and noticed they do leather interior upgrades and can even do heated and air conditioned seats for a lot less than the upgrade trim packages on a new car. The work they did on my sunroof was A+. When I mentioned that some of the broken glass had gotten all the way to the back hatch and was causing the hatch to bind slightly, Becca went out to the shop and got the tech to carefully clean that area for me. A couple of months after purchasing my preowned Miata MX5 I discovered that the dealership/previous owner had done patch work to the top because as I put the top up and down the patching flaked off. This exposed two rather large rips in the top. The dealership wanted $3700 to replace. The recommended Texas Auto Tops so I gave it a try. Becca (I hope thats how you spell her name) told me my option was canvas instead of vinyl and explained an amazing warranty on both the top and the installation (6yrs/3yrs). When she gave me the estimate I thought it was a joke and because I didn't have my glasses on thought I was seeing it incorrectly. I thanked her and went to the car. Y'All....after putting on my glasses I saw that the estimate was indeed 1/2 of what the dealership wanted and for a better quality top. The work was scheduled and after only a day I had my Miata with the gorgeous new canvas top that I promised Becca I wouldn't put down for a week (Of course it was the week of the most amazing Austin weather). She has the answers to everything. She's on the ball and she runs that office like a fine tuned machine. She is friendly and respectful to everyone I watched her deal with. Had a sunroof leak in a 2008 Infiniti G35. Austin Infiniti charged me $170 to diagnose and said a clip and panel would need to be replaced for a total of ~$1300. I came to Texas Auto Tops for a second opinion. The appointment was easy to schedule. Becca remembered my vehicle and problem when I came in a week later. David was able to discover and fix my issue (actually a kinked hose, not the clip) in about one hour. The panel did not need to be replaced... just needed a scrub and David was happy to put it back on for me at no cost a week later, after I'd cleaned it. So, they fixed a problem for ~$140 that the dealer mis-diagnosed for $170 and wanted to charge me $1300. read more

I usually don't give any business in this town 5 stars because of bad attitudes, bad service, and shoddy work, but I can say I am very impressed with my experience with Texas Auto Tops Cannot say enough good things about them. I needed the bucket seats recovered with a replacement factory kit I have purchased earlier, and get the headliner panel re-done on my truck, and I scheduled on line with Texas Auto Tops and within an hour Becca called and responded and we discussed more what I needed and set up an appointment to meet with one of the guys to see the truck and my supplied seat coverings and made sure they would work and gave me an estimate. They gave me a fair price and estimated that the job can be done in a day. Becca worked me pretty quick for an appointment day to start the job. I dropped the truck off 3 days later at 8 30 AM and she kept me informed of the progress, and notified an hour before the guys finished when the truck will be finished. When I saw the truck and inspected the work all I can say is WOW! Everything was installed neat and perfect. The seats turned out perfect, the headliner looks great and all of the trim is put back neat and in place. Their work was definitely worth the price paid. These guys are great craftsman the service is top notch and every one was friendly to deal with. Becca was just so wonderful to deal with and so helpful. She has great talent with dealing with customers, she is so awesome! Reasonably priced, and the headliner they replaced in my Jag XK-8 appears as good as new. On the other hand, I've now a dented speaker grill, dirty footprints on the door panels, seats, and carpets, and greasy smudges around the edges of the headliner. It all comes off, and I'm pretty sure I can repair the grill, but the difference between ok and as good as it gets is the details. read more

These folks are absolutely amazing - straightforward, honest, and beyond fair. My Lexus retractable top broke down and the Lexus dealer told me it would cost $8,000 to fix (and another place told a similar story), which is pretty outrageous. I went to Texas Auto Tops and they spent several hours taking it apart to see if they could locate the problem or fix it quickly. At first they could not do it because of the many variables involved. They said they would need to research it more. They charged me nothing for their time spent on this. Awhile later I went by and was told that the nature of fixing this was sort of trial and error because of all the moving parts, but they thought just replacing one of the many motors might do it. I decided to take a chance on this, even though they made it perfectly clear they could not guaranty it would completely fix it. I really appreciated their honesty in this. It turns out they got it right and charged me only $250 for labor (I also had to pay an outrageous $800 Lexus charges for the part - there was no way around this). Basically they saved me OVER 85%! I had originally gone to another place to get my sunroof that wasn't closing fixed. They told me it would cost $300 just to 'lower the tray' and figure out exactly what was wrong. Luckily, I decided to go to Texas Auto Tops to see what they had to say. I came and Becca looked at it right away and had a guess for me as to what was wrong within about 10 minutes. She was awesome about informing me of what they were going to do and also some other tips on keeping my sun roof in good condition. I had just bought a used suburban a month before we had a few hrs of a downpoor of much needed rain. As I got in the next morning to attend church my kids were shocked that the ceiling was dripping water and the floor board was wet under one seat only. I then later started removing the headliner and to look for the problem. I started calling Upholstery shops trying to get a quote on reinstalling the headliner, after explaining the problem and after a few calls it was clear that I had a aftermarket sunroof installed and they would not touch it! So one of them told me to call Texas Auto Tops. I called and talked to Becca, I went in the next day and she looked at it, tried a few things, told me what she thought and set a time for me to come in. She was very helpful, polite and wanted to help fix the problem without having to spend much money. I went back a few days later, the owner came out, I told him what was going on and he went right to work, after it was all said and done, he found the glass was not adjusted right and the rear drain tubes were not properly installed down the inside if the vehicle. After about 20 mins I was ready to go, again Becca was very friendly and helpfull and charged me less.......yes I said less then what she had quoted. Very Happy!!!!! I must add that they are a very busy shop but they still take the time to explain things and help you out the best they can, I found out that they also do all types of upholstery work and DVD players and are a dealer for several sunroof manufactures who are certified to install new sunroofs in alot of new cars and trucks. I was a little hesitant since I tend to go off feedback and there wasn't alot of feedback on here, but the service was EXCELLENT on my Volvo C70 hardtop headliner. They were very quick and professional. Their quote was very reasonable and they came in under their quote. I had a sun roof installed in my 2008 CTS and afterwards the headliner started coming down towards the back window. Since I live South it just wasn't convenient to go back over there but finally a year and a half later I called and spoke w/Becca at the front desk. I explained my situation - busy, no time to drive way over there but would like to have that fixed. Becca said great - still in warranty (2 yr warranty) and that since she lived South she could meet me and exchange vehicles and take mine to have it repaired. We did that and there was no charge for the repairs and I was not inconvenienced!!!! What a breath of fresh air and how lucky they are to have such an accomodating person as their employee!!!!!! So far, so good using Texas Tops. My Kia Soul sunroof opened askew and would not close. Took it to my favorite auto repair shop and they quoted me, but also suggested I contact a sunroof specialty shop which perhaps could give me other less-costly options. BTW, there is a related sunroof recall on my vehicle and Southpoint Kia service dept, Zack, was not at all considerate to the situation and offered me an appt next week. I chose Texas Tops from their Yelp reviews, called them spoke with Becca and she said she'd look at it right away. She and I inspected it together - it helps that I had already looked up the repair inspection procedures from my ALLDATA account on this vehicle, so I knew exactly what Becca talked about as she evaluated the situation. She and a technician were able to close the glass roof for now (at no charge - 15 minutes time) - awesome! and Becca will research a few options for fixing/replacing the roof permanently. I am pleased with the timeliness, professionalism and courtesy of Becca most of all. This shop is busy for a reason, but they show care and concern for their customers, which I witnessed in how I was treated along with how Becca treated two other customers during my one hour spent at thier shop today. I trust that I will be offered options that will suit my situation (over 100k miles on the car), and budgeting goals for the vehicle. I was told by the Audi dealer that had to replace the drain lines on my Q7. Auto tops found the issue was the seal of the windshield and fixed my leak for 1/10th of the price. It's amazing what happens when you find the right place for the job. read more

Even though I told them I couldn't afford to fix it right now, David took it apart enough to get it closed and disengaged the motor so it couldn't accidentally be rolled out of track again. Headliner in our 2005 Dodge Van started to separate. Called several places and got advice to try Texas Auto Tops. Great folks ! They originally thought with the width of the van they would have to do two pieces and have a seam. Well, either they found larger material or did a wonderful job concealing the seam. I have an 8-year old Jeep Grand Cherokee with a sunroof. I was getting a lot of wind noise and delayed getting it checked out because I was convinced it was a $300-400 fix (i.e., replace all the rubber stripping, and who knows what else). The dealership quoted me $100 just to bring in someone to check it out. Based upon yelp reviews, I called Texas Auto Tops and spoke with Becca. She said to stop by so she could take a look at it. To make a long story short, she fixed it in about five minutes. My Jeep never even rolled into their service bay. After she made some adjustments she asked me to take it for a ride. In less then 1/4 mile I could hear the difference. I turned around to go back and thank her (and left her a tip as discreetly as I could). I wasn't charged a dime. Texas Auto Tops is awesome. I will use and refer them as often as I can. It's been about a month now and my sunroof is as sound proof as the day I drove this bad boy off the showroom floor and into a bank of mud! Talk about a huge relief getting in touch with this place. I have had a sunroof issue in my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 for quite some time and have been unable to find anyone to work on it (mechanic, body shop, window tint place) except for the dealership who wanted to charge me $190 JUST to look at it. After contacting Safelite Auto Glass who referred me to Texas Auto Tops I then called and spoke with Becca who explained that I may actually have a recalled sunroof. I took it in and she immediately identified it as not being a recall, however she did notice what the issues were with it. She went and grabbed some tools and we chatted and worked together on it out in the parking lot and in no time I was on my way with my previous problems of the roof 'popping' up to let air in, and some leaking during heavy rains, to now have NO ISSUES! Texas Auto Tops could not be much better in the quality of their work, their customer service, and their pricing. I have used them twice in the last 3 months. The first time was to repair the front passenger seat in my 2005 Audi A8L, the leather on the top of the seat cushion was badly torn and the seat is heated and cooled. The second time was to repair the glass rear window in my wife's 2004 Audi A4 Cabriolet, the heated glass had separated from the convertible top. In both cases they repaired my cars so that they look brand new. The repairs were done on time and at a very reasonable cost but the story on the convertible top was even better. The glass had almost totally separated from the top making it, according to other experts, not repairable. They could have easily tried to sell me a new top for over $2,000 installed ($5000 from the dealer). They, very professionally, went through my options and risks and ended up repairing the window for $175 and the top and window look brand. My hats off to Rebecca, the owner, and the staff. I would not hesitate to recommend Texas Auto Tops to anyone needing their professional services. read more
