Ribs that deserved to be in the trash
    Sonja R.

I visited today and I was so disappointed!! I hesitated in going because I initially was headed to Taco Cabana. I wish I had kept driving. I order the rib tip sandwich (comes with Lay's potato chips $7.99) and one rib ($4.00). A gentleman picked up his order and it appeared to have weight to it and it smelled good. The young lady told me it was the spicy sausage so I added a spicy sausage sandwich ($5.99 - $6.48 w/tax). When I opened the containers to check my order, I knew I made a mistake. But I held out hope and drove home. Needless to say, the ribs weren't done and had a funny color to them. I told my husband I was throwing it away. He said he would put it in the air fryer. The rib tips were the smallest I have ever seen in my life, not seasoned and mostly fat. The sausage had a great flavor (hence the reason I gave one star) but it wasn't cooked all the way!!! The buns for each sandwich was delicious but to spend money for BBQ but only enjoy the buns, I think not!!!! I will not return and next time I will listen to my 1st mind. Wasted my money today!!!

    Chicken nachos

I ordered 1/2 chicken, brisket baked beans and grilled green beans. My second order was chicken nachos and that's just what I got. Chicken pieces on top of stale nachos with no lettuce, tomatoes or peppers and a cup with cheese. I didn't receive the 1/2 chicken, only those sweet and horrible tasting bbq beans and the green beans. I ordered through Grubhub. I spent $40 w/tip and notified Grubhub about the order and food quality. They refunded me $14. I ordered Domino's Pizza and spent $27 more since I didn't receive my order. I'm done with Hitters and Grubhub!!

Food was on point, ribs fell off the bone, the brisket was cooked just right. I will definitely be coming back

    Loaded Mac n cheese

The manager/owner was actually really nice which is why we are so disappointed. Everything was dry. This was the "loaded Mac n cheese" they gave us. It's shocking that they served us this. Spare ribs was dry and burgers weren't amazing. I really hope this place gets it together.

Their selection of meats and sides is really above average compared to a lot of places. Every side I've tried here I've actually liked. They use Martin's bread, and they'll give you your accoutrements like pickles, escabeche, and the like. If you like those, make sure you ask for extra up front -- there's no stand to go grab them later, so you've got to get them when you go through the line. Large seating area with many large tables and a full service bar. The seating does get a little filled up when they are busy. I suggest coming early and being in line before doors open. Brisket: 4.5/5 Sausage: 5/5 Turkey Brest: 5/5 Escabeche & picadillo sides:5/5 Barbecue sauce: 4.5/5 Tater tot casserole:5/5 Mac & cheese:4/5 It's pretty consistent -- out of all the times I've been, there was only once where I was a little let down by the brisket. But in general it's top notch, probably the best you're going to get in Houston. Would recommend and return.

A 2-year Michellin star BBQ joint was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. My friends and I got there around 10am and were lucky enough to grab a number. The number secures your spot in line but don't worry if you show up and they run out, there's a spot on the porch where the non-number line starts. We ordered moist brisket, garlic sausage, and the beef rib. For sides, we went with mac and cheese and beans. Everything was superb! The brisket melted in your mouth, no knife needed. The sausage had a nice snap to it and get great flavor. The bark on the beef rib was *chef's kiss*. The mac and cheese was creamy while the beans had a nice sweet and tangy flavor. The service is also great! While we were eating, staff would regularly check all of the tables to check if anyone needed anything. The staff taking our order also chatted with us about other BBQ spots we've been to. Everything was such a great experience and the quality of the food is 100/10!

We went on a Saturday and showed up around 10:45, the line was definitely long and our wait was about 45 minutes. While waiting outside there is water and also employees coming around asking people if they wanted to purchase drinks. Once we made it inside, the gentleman who took our order was funny and kind. All of the employees were very friendly and helpful. My fiancée is a lover of BBQ so he wanted to order almost everything on the menu. We ordered brisket, garlic sausage, pork ribs, the whole chicken, baked beans, Mac and cheese, and apple cobbler. My favorites were the pork ribs and apple cobblers. His favorites were the ribs, brisket, cobbler, and baked beans. I loved the cobbler so much I placed an additional order to go.

I'm adjusting my review to reflect Veronica's willingness to turn this experience into an opportunity. We were looking forward to trying this restaurant while staying at a hotel in Houston for medical treatments. We had it delivered to our hotel and sadly it wasn't the best experience. When we got our order to the room we were missing one side that we ordered. We got Mac n cheese, green beans and potato salad with a brisket/smoked chicken combo and a brisket/ribs. I was shocked to see two pieces of brisket and a chicken breast for $28. Maybe it was an off night but the quality just wasn't there. All the food was cold (our fault bc we ordered it for delivery) and was lacking flavor. Overall, we'd rate it like this: Brisket 3/5 Chicken 2/5 Mac n cheese 1.5/5 Green beans 3/5 Ribs 3/5 Potato salad 2/5 Maybe they were having a bad night but I wish our experience was better.

My partner had the brisket sandwich with potato salad and a small helping of pickles and pickled red onions and I had the pulled pork tacos. My partner said the brisket sandwich was okay, but we both agreed that the potato salad was fantastic! The potato salad was way better than the one at Pappas Barbecue. The taste of the pulled pork tacos was great, but it was honestly too wet and made the flour tortillas too soggy and there was way too much coleslaw on top. I feel like if Killen's is going to serve pulled pork tacos there needs to be three things done. 1. Serve the tacos with an option of corn tortillas because I feel corn tortillas would've worked better to give a great contrast/pairing with the sweetness of the pulled pork and sauce. 2. Serve the corn/flour tortillas on the side so that they don't get soggy and wet. 3. There are some things that just don't belong on a taco of any kind and that's coleslaw. My partner and I also tasted the banana pudding and to say it was divine is an understatement. What I really like about this pudding was that you could taste real bananas in this pudding and it had been mixed well all together. Our total was $80 after tipping, which is a little pricey for some of the items, but honestly I would definitely come back to Killen's Barbecue when I was in the mood for barbecue.
