We've been to Texas de Brazil many times and have never once been disappointed. The Salad Bar is absolutely TOP NOTCH and the quality and selection of the Flame broiled meats are OUTSTANDING. Cooked to juicy perfection and literally served right to your plate. The wait staff is always friendly and attentive. Being at the Crossgates Mall....there's plenty of parking available. The pricing makes it more of a special occasion type place at about $45 per person for the meal. Desserts are killer as well and are an additional charge. My first impression was intrigued... I noticed people floating around with large skewers of meat offering it to every table and didn't quite know whether I'd be down for this kind of meal... *Insert note* This style meal is quite different than a traditional sit down most people are accustomed to - fair warning. While waiting to be seated I had very mixed feelings.. "What if I just want to order something I'm in the mood for..." "this may stink..." So I'm with my fiance and another couple - we finally sit and get the run down from the server on how things work - basically its buffet style with servers who constantly rotate in with various meats to offer you - all for one bundled dinner price of something like $44 maybe? close to that / per person. Well I nab a plate and head to the buffet - turns out they had a fantastic selection of everything from soup - salad, sushi - peppers - bacon - you name it. I was actually pretty damn excited now! The food from the buffet was excellent, I very much enjoyed the wide selection. Then the meats start flying in - let me just say they were all cooked very well, juicy and tender - I was very impressed once again. Filet Minion - Lamb - Tenderloin - a solid selection of finely cooked meats - oh ya... and as much as you wanted! Server comes around with deep fried bananas... good lord. They tasted like a cinnamon doughnut - I asked the server for like 2 more trays of that stuff - excellent. Okay so to break it down - they had fantastic food, the quality was excellent, the people and atmosphere was fun and easy, servers very professional, (forgot to talk about drinks but great drink menu), my ONLY knock on this place would be that it forces you to eat in this particular style manner.. There is no menu to place orders or have a traditional meal and you're stuck with this fairly pricey ticket at the end. Now I was okay with the higher price for how much food I believe I ate - but my fiance is tiny lol She can't eat a lot and so from her end, she probably had $25 worth of food but our bill still tipped $150 (we had some drinks) For this I can't give it 5 stars because the price makes it a once in a while treat. It could be really fun to come here for a girls night and skip the meat and just pay the $25 for the salad bar and make yourself a beautiful cheese plate with olives, meats and more. We didn't do that on our visit though... we went all the way and enjoyed countless types of delicious carved tender meats, along with the salad bar. The meats were tender and tasty but too salty for me (and I like salty food). It would be nice if they scaled the salt back just a touch. It was stylist and pretty inside and the service was attentive and friendly. Admittedly, this isn't my favorite type of dining. I don't love "all you can eat" I prefer to order from a menu and have leftovers, but if you are in the mood to try a lot of different things this is a great place to go to with much better quality food than the average buffet. We came on Veteran's Day and enjoyed 50% off our entire order (because my husband served in the Navy). There weren't many vets taking advantage of the great deal, because I hear Vets can enjoy 20% off every day of the year here... the big plus is its off the entire order, not just off the vets order (at least it was for us that day). Im giving it 4 star for the discounted price we paid the day we visited. I wouldn't give it quite so high a rating for the full price. Amazing salad bar with 40 or more items to choose from many cheeses, olives,red peppers, sushi, cured meats. The service was spot on, turning over your decka brought gauchos with different kinds of meat we made it through 8, that was our limit! Many more were offered. There was filet mignon, flank steak, chicken, lamb chops, pork and sausage and many more. Bowl of mashed potatoes and banana foster type dish brought to your table along with rolls. I strongly recommend this establishment at the Crossgates Mall in Albany NY. The only reason I am giving a 4 Star review over a 5 Star is the Host / Hostess behavior when we arrived. I had called in a reservation for 6pm, the person taking the reservation said "5:30-6?" and I said closer to 6 as that is when our movie gets out. We arrived at 6pm and breathed a sigh of relief as there were a decent number of open tables. At first the host and one of the woman hostess couldn't find our reservation once they looked it up by my phone number they found it and accusingly looked at us and said it was for 5:30. I explained what I said to the reservation person and they were looking like they would not seat us. Thankfully a 3rd hostess pretty much ignored them, grabbed a wine list and took us immediately to a table. Everything that proceeded was amazing. The salad bar was great but as soon as I was back at my table with friends and family (there were six of us) we were accosted with selection after selection of amazing food. The leg of lamb, lamb chops, flank steak, filet wrapped in bacon, chicken wrapped in bacon, sausage, steak wrapped in bacon, bbq ribs, shrimp from the salad bar, jalapeno from the salad bar and wrapped in bacon from the servers, the food was simply incredible. Our waiter was great checking in on us several times and making sure we had been served or if we needed more of any selection. By the time we left the restaurant was full with a few persons waiting, we had watched several tables and parties come and go. Meat lovers paradise! I had never been to this place before tonight and I will certainly be returning after my experience. Making a reservation was a snap and happy hour goes til 7, so we had some very tasty drinks before sitting down to our meal. The signature cocktails are strong but not overpowering. Very tasty, impressive even. The salad bar has a selection of delicious cheeses, which I enjoyed, then they brought out the meat. Since this place is "all you can eat", I had my doubts about the quality of the food. Those doubts are long gone. The staff are very attentive and always bringing over different meats right to the table. They also don't give you too much at a time, I felt the meal was paced very well. Dinner actually took an hour and a half! It could have been faster, but not feeling rushed was certainly something I wanted. The filet may have been my favorite, but the flank steak gave it a run for its money. The lamb chops and Parmesan encrusted chicken were also spot on. Everything I had was cooked perfectly. I legitimately had to stop myself from over-indulging. Price wise, it seems on the higher end, but considering the quality of the food and service, it was right where it should be. The salad bar needed more identification, meaning I had no idea what I was selecting. However it all tasted great. The meats were absolutely the best I've ever tasted. Went to this Brazilian-American style churrascaria and it was a crazy delicious experience! For this review I thought I would list my favorite cuts of meat in descending order. Here we go... Garlic sirloin Leg of lamb Beef rib House special sirloin Rack of lamb Flank steak Filet mignon Pork loin Bacon-wrapped filet Brazilian sausage BBQ pork rib Didn't love the Bacon-wrapped chicken (because really, how can chicken stand a chance up against the heavy-hitting beef, lamb and pork??) and we didn't try either of the Parmesan-crusted meats... But with at least 15 skewers of different cuts of meat you're sure to find something you love! Oh, and I would be remiss if I didn't also mention that I have never tasted more delicious mashed potatoes than the ones they served us tableside. And those sweet plantains! Perfect palate cleanser and so so so delicious! The salad bar was awesome and the lobster bisque was delicious (although next time I'll skip the bisque - it made me fill up too fast!). Dinner is pricey at $45 per person but we felt the value for the quality and quantity of food served was worth it. The meats were a bit salty (they use some kind of fancy salt to crust their meats before roasting) - they do give you an option to get your meats unsalted but I probably wouldn't recommend it. Much of the meat was outstanding, but others were either ridiculously salty, or over or under done. I have been here before, so I know what to expect and this was not their best. Pros - They get a lot of flavor out of their pork and chicken which is hard to do. The lamb chops rank as one of my favorite meat dishes, and I don't generally even like lamb. The beef rib, while very fatty was delicious. Cons - The pork ribs tasted as if I had poured salt on my tongue. The filet was very overdone. The salad bar is large, but nothing extraordinary. The service from the gauchos was lacking, sometimes we had 4 at the table at once offering meats and other times we had to wait 10 minutes for someone to come. There were some things we never got to sample because even though they made the rounds they never made it to our table the whole night. The meats were a tad too salty and I've been to around 10 Brazilian bbq places in my life, so while not an expert I have reasonable experience. Don't take the exterior slices of meat to avoid the insane saltiness. (Yes, I know the salt is used to seal in the flavor during heating but it's a tad much.) Cuts I enjoyed: top sirloin, lamb, beef rib and flank. The rest were just ho-hum imo and I personally don't care for any of the wrapped in bacon cuts or chicken. The salad bar was solid and an enjoyable part of the meal. My Leblon caipirinha was good but the drink was too small! It should of had 2x the liquid volume instead I got a small glass with small ice to fill most of the space. Large ice cubes actually take less space and allow for more liquid. And were the limes muddled with sugar on them to allow the sugar to be pressed into the lime rind to draw out the lime oils? It's the lime oils that really adds the interesting flavors, not the lime juice or sugar. I've made superior caipirinhas at home with the same ingredients. I enjoyed the vibe and look of the place with the large glass windows for a little people watching into and out of Lord & Taylor and high ceilings. The wait staff was well trained and attentive. I had no problem with the carvers or service. The restaurant was half full. Also, a note to servers. Don't go into a long monologue about the place, just tell customers they can use the salad bar and to turn over their chit to green when they want carvers to offer them food. Two friends celebrating the end of their final exams went to Crossgates looking not for anything memorable but for a good meal. They balked at Texas de Brazil's prices, but decided that special occasions are made for exceptions. Max and Alex are glad they did. We were seated almost immediately by serving staff so friendly we learned each of their names before calling it an evening. Our drinks were expertly recommended by the waitress, and the appetizers alone put this meal among my five most decadent; the pão de quiejo reminds me of the sort I used to get back and Saõ Paulo and the feijoada brought back memories of Manaus. The meats were cooked medium rare in rock salt as we were told, and began appearing in great variety the moment we flipped our cards. All this set against a lovely decor and the friendliest staff I've encountered in ages truly made the experience unique and memorable. While expensive, Texas de Brazil is worth every penny. I dedicated the meal to my father, who recently passed away after showing me the wonders of Brazil up close and personal. He would have loved this place. read more

I had been to a Texas de Brazil (on multiple occasions) in Aruba a few yrs. ago, so I went in to the Albany location with high expectations. Personally, I would give the Crossgates/Albany location an overall "A"...I just hope they can sustain themselves in this area. I have grown up in the restaurant/resort/catering business, also in the general "Capital District" area for 30+ yrs. now &, unfortunately, Albany (altho the state capital) isn't the best, nor known for being a thriving metropolis of fine dining, of which I would consider Texas de Brazil. I definitely HOPE it makes it, though! Time will tell... That said, my boyfriend & I made reservations thru Open Table online & went to the restaurant on Labor Day Monday night. Reservations were 5:15pm, we arrived a little early -- right at 5'ish -- & there was a handful of other guests who had done similarly. The hostesses & manager were all right at the front entrance/hostess station & all guests were welcomed, checked in & seated accordingly w/in minutes thereafter. We opted for sticking to tap water w/ ice & lemon, to keep our personal bill down, knowing bottled waters &/or drinks always up the total -- though, that is to one's own personal preference. For us, we were there for the "meat coma" (ha!), not any fancy drinks -- though the bar looked appealing, wine/specialty drink list was impressive (as were some of the prices -- one champagne being $600/bottle...heh...) & for others who ordered wine/drinks around us, they seemed pleased. Our serve was friendly & knowledgable & also in the process of training another new server (a female-newbie, shadowing the established male server). As a team, they worked well together & were both personable & timely in their check-ins to our table. The "water girl" who was going around was also always timely/our glasses were never empty. The "salad bar"/side station was not as grand a display as that of the Texas de Brazil in Aruba, but its offerings were plentiful & top notch! Various cured meats (salami, prosciutto, etc.), various cheeses, sushi, actual salad (romaine or field greens mix) w/ multiple toppings/dressings & an AMAZING selection of multiple balsamic vinegars (bottled to pour), in particular. Tabouleh, couscous, smoked salmon, artichoke hearts, asparagus with a fine citrus-y drizzle, green beans, etc. The "hot" station of sides consisted of their lobster bisque (very, very good!), potatoes au gratin, rice, sautéed mushrooms, etc. Though the option is there to come to the restaurant SOLELY to eat of the "salad" bar, it is $24.99/per person that way. I, personally, don't know if I would do it -- but, again, I come for the meats -- & if one WERE to come solely for the "salad" station, I think it would satisfy? Once we got down to "business" (MEATS!) the gauchos (servers) were plentiful, attentive & the meats were top-notch! We most enjoyed their cuts of top sirloin, the filet-wrapped-in-bacon, lamb chops, & parmesan-encrusted pork...though there were tons more to list...most all of which we tried! Haha! It was explained that most all cuts are cooked medium-rare (which is always a personal preference w/ high end meats) -- so all were cooked/seasoned to perfection, in my mind! We were introduced to this restaurant by our friends and ever since the first time we visited we have been recommending it to every we know! My boyfriend and I are big meat eaters, but the salad bar selections are really tasty as well! I also really like that when you tell them you like your meat cooked rare, they give you rare meat, as a lot of restaurants will end up giving you medium rare. My first experience at this restaurant. This is one of my families favorite places but I don't understand why. The service although polite was sparse and very slow. We sat at our table for long periods of time with no attention. The waiters were walking by and paying no attention.. The only meat that was near tender was the beef ribs which we asked for at the beginning and never got until we were almost done. The lamb chops are extra as well as the desserts and drinks. The expense was so not worth the time wasted waiting for service and the poor quality of the meat. read more

Positive was that we had 730 reservations and were seated on time. Negatives were as follows: Everything was very salty. Had to ask three times for our drinks before they arrived at the table. Never asked if we wanted refills on drinks. Asked for bbq/steak sauce 3 times which never came to the table. Difficult to get to the salad bar area around the tables with people sitting near that area, walking space was tight. Limited meats came around. Asked for beef ribs and waitress said she would have them made and brought over, but 25 mins later nothing arrived so we gave up. Bathroom was dirty and no paper towels to dry hands. Had a $20 off coupon for my birthday and waitress it was taken off bill but when I looked at bill it wasn't. She had to correct it after I asked a second time about the bill. Dinner here on Saturday, January 20, 2018. Truly disappointed with the service which was abysmal and the poor selection of meats and the tiny cuts of meats that were offered. I've been to other Texas de Brazil restaurants as well as competing Brazilian-inspired restaurants and this experience is hands down the absolute worst in terms of service; meat selections; and portions. There seemed likely to be enough staff, but the carvers went to the same tables over and over failing to come to our table (and other tables) unless we waved them down. It was truly pathetic. Reading your website it says "prepare to be swarmed by a troop of carvers" - nope, not the case, not even close. FALSE ADVERTISING. Then your website goes on to say "generously serving various cuts." If these cuts were generous, I would hate to see what you call meager. Shameful, another example of FALSE ADVERTISING. And for the price of this meal you don't expect to have to draw attention to the few carvers t to get the same little bitty slices of meat over and over. While your website suggests 16 different types of meats. I only counted 5 being served over-and-over. Again, I've never been to one of these restaurants and been offered so few choices of meats. Are you trying to save money or what? I came here for a great experience and got a blah experience. Three times FALSE ADVERTISING. There was an owner/manager wandering around but he was seriously clueless and never talked to the customers. Considering our own experience and watching other customers arrive, it appeared the sole purpose of the hostess was to get you to buy liquor. The old up-sale routine. But really, the cheapness of charging for every soda when you put so much salt on the meat one would die if they didn't keep drinking. This was such an interested experience! For a mall restaurant I wasn't expecting much, granted I heard good and bad things! My girlfriends and I went on a Friday night, and were allowed to make reservations. It was busy but not packed for 8pm! The food was good, I liked that they had a salad bar for other options. The waitress explains to you what to do (green and red card) and the food.... Was great! But pace yourself! They have so many different meat options, and seasoning options! I have mixed feelings about my visits to this restaurant chain. I always enjoy the sirloin, filet and flank steak that is paraded onto my plate but in the back of my mind I wonder if the price is worth it? I don't believe any of us eat $50 in food and when you consider the price of the drinks which do not include refills I have a hard time convincing myself the expense is worth the extra cow. Don't get me wrong the cow is awesome, but I don't eat as much as I feel like I do. Less than 15 minutes in and I am turning my card to red. The salad bar is nice but not impressive. The sauteed mushrooms are incredible though, as well as the baked bananas and mashed potatoes. The annoying thing is that if they would just make drinks w/refills part of the price I wouldn't let this bug me so much. I don't understand why they insist on investing in those small sodas. Ice tea can be made very cheaply and a soda fountain makes the cost of beverages nominal, witness free refills and low cost soda prices in so many establishments. So it bothers me to spend a significant amount for the meal and then be nickel and dimed over non-alcoholic drinks. Service was fine. Despite my last horrific entry to this restaurant, I decided to give it another chance. The place redeemed itself beyond all expectations. I made a reservation and purposefully showed up 30 mins early. The hostess was gracious and found a table even though they were very busy. My waiter was impeccable. In fact several waiters stopped by my table over the 40 mins time frame I ate and asked if they could bring me anything specific. The Manager stopped by to ensure I was ok and then to make sure I was satisfied. The place excelled beyond all hopes. This place is an A+. Everyone should stop her. We first went to this Restaurant Opening week! It was truly an experience. The wait staff was mostly from Miami. The energy was unbelievable!! So lets get past the great energy the food was like none other. The salad bar far exceeded expectations of what you normally see on a salad bar. On a scale of 1-10 we give it a 20. Then put on every table is a savory garlic mashed potatoes and fried bananas. Once all the perfectly cooked meats arrived at over whelming speed the bananas served as a nice cleanse to the the pallet between meats. Let's fast forward a couple of years. We always purchase the VIP card only offered in March every year but you can purchase as any as you want. The card offers an incredible value. My husband and I discussed after the grand opening what a challenge it would be to maintain the energy, service and quality of food. Well, kudos to them it is as good today as the Grand opening. We go regularly and have never been disappointed! The service and food is always outstanding. We highly recommend this place!!! read more

Came an hour out of our way to come to this place! First and foremost I will tell you our waiter Kory was a 6 star waiter! My husband and I were there for Valentine's Day and he was top notch!!!! Literally such an amazing well knowledgeable person of that establishment!! The food was great but I will come back for Korys service without a doubt! This is my second time visiting Texas De Brazil this past weekend with some family. The experience is truly unique and enjoyable. Our waitress was super friendly, but we had to ask several times for meat to come our way as we saw the same stuff over and over without seeing items we knew they had. We were located in the back corner of the restaurant which proved to not be ideal as the meat selections were gone before even making it back to us. Their salad bar is LEGIT and delicious. The chimichurri sauce was incredible and I pretty much dipped everything in it! It was disappointing to not have tasted everything, especially with the price tag. Was here celebrating a birthday dinner and was expecting much more than we received. The waiters were friendly and came quickly, but they only brought chicken to the table. My plate stayed empty for over 30 min, until a manager came by and saw my plate had no food on it. I politely asked do they serve any red meat, and his reply was yes. About 10 min later, waiters came over with some red meat that I was told it was filet wrapped in bacon. Either that was a lie or it was the toughest filet I've ever eaten, plus it was more then well done, quite chewy. And then more waiters came back with more chicken, which I was not interested in. I asked again, please come back with red meat. Another 30 min went by with no food, so I went to the salad bar. The salad bar had a good variety of food, but I was only really interested in the smoked salmon. I tried some of the sushi at the bar, but when sushi rice sits for a while, it becomes quite hard, which is how it was. I've been to many Brazilian Steak Houses, and this one really confused me in having such a small amount of red meat available. If I am spending $50 and more on a meal, I expect to have more than just chicken as a protein. So I ate my dinner cost with the smoked salmon. Not sure if I would go back. read more
