We tried this place after running a 10K in Helotes Seriously couldn't decide between crème puff and Nutella braid. I absolutely love this hidden gem. I am always greeted when walking in, their bakery is right in front so you can view the pastries that they have. It's not a humongous selection, but they definitely satisfy a sweet tooth. I was bummed to learn that they did not have their breakfast or lunch menu, only the bakery items. They decided to discontinue it since the start of Covid I was told by one of the employees. I ordered a decaf latte salted caramel flavor which was creamy and delicious just the way I like it. Also got one of the pastries which didn't seem as fresh, but it did the job. Looking forward to when they have their breakfast and lunch menu items back, because their food is delicious. I love the options for seating either in the front, inside, or back patio. It's very calm and relaxing. I recommend giving this place a try if you're in the area. read more

What a great find!! I stumbled on this adorable little gem today, lucky, lucky, me!! I was greeted with a friendly smile and felt welcome and warm immediately. The cream puffs are HUGE and DELICIOUS; the Pure Joy is a tasty, gooey treat; and the crumb cake, oh yeah!! They roast their own coffee and everything is made on site! I'm so looking forward to going back to try more of their menu. Everyone I came in contact made it a super experience. They have a bed & breakfast too!! Excellent service and coffee. The cold brew I had was very good and they had heavy cream which not all coffee places do. Prices are on par with most others but this is a small business so I feel much better spending money there. If you buy a pound of their bagged coffee you can get 50 rounds of 9mm out of their bulk bin for an added charge. 1st time experiencing getting ammo and coffee at the same counter. With the current state we live in I am just gobsmacked that this favorite place of my wife does not mandate mask wearing in such a closed in space for employees nor for customers. I was just in to pick up my wife's favorite cream puff, and was in shock that no one was wearing masks nor were they encouraging others to protect others and wear a mask. My wife is one of the at risk percentages, and so cant come her self, so I ended up the errand boy. The small space puts customers almost face to face with each other. I wish I could continue to come here, but we will be looking for a new place until the business makes the safety of staff and customers a priority. I love this little coffee shop, and the insane cream puff. I got the cinnamon dolce latte with butter pecan syrup and my husband got the americano iced. I thought both were on point. Mine was sweet and cinnamon-y, but not over powering and his was bold but with low acidity. We also brought home a bag of coffee to continue the experience at home, and it was perfect this morning. We brought home a nutty blend (Helotes blend) also low on acidity with a little bitterness to it (I like bold and nutty coffee over acidic fruity/floral). I like any coffee I can make at home and enjoy with a little cream and sugar without the extra syrup and flavor stuff, this one is all that. It was a great recommendation by the staff. The cream puff was HUGE, but my husband tried the pure joy and it was like cheesecake and yellowcake had a love child and was delicious. If you're not into over indulgence, I did notice some keto options and some other milks (oat?), but I got distracted by my cream puff delight and stopped paying attention to everything else. We came in this morning to try out some fresh coffee and were glad we did! My sister got the Republic (read as normal house blend) and I got the Come and Take it (the robust/dark roast) blend. Absolutely loved it! Tried a sample of the Grey Forest, which has hints of chocolate and apple to the after taste. They have more blends than the three mentioned, so come find the one for you. If you want to support a local small business and love coffee, these guys are the ones for you! Just be aware, the cafe isn't open on Mondays, but they still are partially open to serve coffee and pastries (which are also made in house) until 12:30pm. It's worth the drive to Old Helotes, even on a Monday! read more

Besides the inviting aroma, the technician explained how they use a digital algorithm to calibrate the beans in order to provide a smooth, non acidic roasted bean. I like my latte smooth with no indigestion afterwards. If this is you as well, then Texas Grounds is the spot to get your coffee drink or just buy a bag of espresso beans and make it at home daily. My husband loves the Nutella braid and my son is all about the brownie (as big as his head). Krispie treats are solid, cupcakes are delicious (seasonal item) and crumb cake is great!
