This place reminded me of a saloon which I liked. There's a restaurant down stairs and rooms to stay in up stairs. My fiancé and I stayed in one and we thought it was a good room for a good price. The food is also really tasty. Unfortunately the waitress snapped at my fiancé because he tried to get her attention when she was walking past our table. It made the rest of the night with her feel tense and awkward which really stunk because it was our only night in town. She also got mad at me later for leaving the table, I guess she thought we didn't pay. She handed me the slip and told me I needed to pay but the cash was already inside. The hotel staff was not very warm either. Maybe they just didn't like us but we still had a pretty good time. We will probably try somewhere else next time just because of the hospitality. read more

This cute steakhouse is so cozy, has a fireplace in the middle of the cabin setting. They offer a full drink menu. It was never overly crowded or noisy. We went 2x during our 4 day stay. I had a small ribeye, it was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. It came with okra and salad. They bring you complimentary pretzel bread, it's so good I had to move it away from me so I'd have room for my steak! My husband ordered prime rib and he said it was excellent. My sons ordered bacon wrapped filets which they loved. You're offered baked potatoes, fried Okra , fries salad or soup as sides. They also have a variety of chicken if you're not a beef eater. Always pleased with this place! We actually ate there twice on this trip to Red River. There has always been a wait for a table. I see that as being because of the quality of the food. The service is great. The pretzel bread is to die for. My husband and I split a Prime Rib this time, and had plenty of food for both of us. Last night we came here at the insistance of a family member who had eaten a great meal here several years prior. We were a party of 6 and called ahead. Got seated immediately & the waitress got our drinks fast. We ordered our meals & got bread & salad fairly quickly. The we waited. For more than an hour. When our food finally arrived more than an hour later, all five steaks were cool and my own was cold. Two prime ribs were cool, two ribeyes were slightly cool & my filet was cold to the touch but dark on the outside. My son's lobster was cold & rubbery & the side of quail was cold & black. The sides were all warm. As it was approaching 9pm we didn't want to send anything back. My steak, ordered medium, was red throughout except the middle that was purple & uncooked. I ate around the edges. Within two hours I was projectile vomiting all night long. Food poison. Do not eat here. read more

Bad management! So I heard good things about this place and I had high hopes that quickly dissipated. We arrived early and waited until opening for dinner, we were the second guests to be seated. After placing our order the server quickly came back to inform us that they ran out of potato soup...huh how does that happen with only two people ahead of us? We waited close to an hour to be served as we watch table after table receive their entire meals from appetizers to entrees...how does that happen when again we were the first of two to be seated? Finally I asked our server when our dinner might be out, she said oh sorry there was a mix up in the kitchen (why didn't you voluntarily update us?)...when our dinner arrived it was wrong, we ordered the prime rib but they brought a ribeye steak the two are very different, she said if we didn't like it she would get us what we ordered???...btw it cost more and they sure charged us no biggie but when they make a mistake don't charge more for it! My chicken salad was dissappointing, large chunks of vegetables that should have been sliced, carrots and baby corn that you would normally serve as finger food... hey people in the kitchen put some effort in, green pepper chunks the size of a silver dollar...... and tasteless dry chicken, the buffalo burger (not good tasting and dry)with fries priced $13.00 on the menu but charged us $18.00.. this is because fries are charged separate as a side. We had the best burger ever for $8.00 just down the street and it came with fries seriously wtf why price gouge for very basic sub par food? Normally when a place loses your order makes you wait an eternity and then brings you the wrong order a restaurant with class offers something, even complimentary coffee would have been nice....I typically never accept but appreciate the offer, not here they did not give a rats ass! The older lady at the front did not care whatsoever, not good business and no hospitality in her actions....we will be back for vacation in this town but not to this place, they are over priced and quite frankly the food is mediocre, and the hospitality is lacking, hey Texas Reds I'm a customer just so you know, I don't need you. I would put a 4 star because the food was good when it finally arrived. They took us in about 30 min which what they said on the phone. Our server was not happy and probably a fill in since this is their busy time. Things took longer than they should but Reds only gets huge crowds a few times a year. Let me start by saying that my family and I have eaten at Texas Reds since the late 70's. We come here 3-4 times a year. They typically have good steaks and good service. Tonight we ate there. The food was still good. However, the customer service was terrible. Four of us ate dinner. One in the party wanted a separate check. When the credit cards were run, the receipt with the one meal was stamped that a 20% gratuity was added to the bill. The large ticket had no such stamp. We added 20% not knowing. The individual with the small check asked if the tip was really included. That waitress said that the 20% is automatically added for shy split check. She said it is written somewhere in the menu. I believe they intentionally didn't stamp the second ticket to get extra tip money. When we bright this to the managements attention,they didn't care. They said it is listed on the menu. They didn't care it wasn't stamped or the waitress didn't mention the automatic tip. The attitude of the management will prevent me from returning. They lost about $400 in business from us and the friends we take over the summer. Hope their policy and bad attitude was worth it to them. read more

Once we were seated, we waited another hour and 40 minutes to get our food. I wish I had taken pictures....the presentation was boring. I only ordered soup and a salad. My family spent 8 days in Red River for Christmas 2017. At the recommendation of friends, we stayed at The Lodge which is above Texas Reds Steak House. We have so many wonderful memories that we came home with. Every minute of our stay was so remarkable that we didn't want to leave! We will definitely go back and we have already considered a Summer trip in the near future. We did not come across a staff member, server or bar tender that did not treat us well. We felt catered to every minute of our stay. Everyone greeted us with a smile on their face, a "hello, how was your day", and a genuine "thank you" at the end of the day. We always felt valued and appreciated. In the evenings we really enjoyed sitting in the Lost Love Saloon (a quaint bar inside Texas Reds) and listening to Mike Addington play. Be prepared for your hips to sway, your feet to start tapping and your heart to melt! Often times, we would order dinner in the bar and sit there for hours, enjoying great drinks and talking with other tourist and locals. It was so very relaxing. Truly the perfect setting to wind down after a long day on the slopes. Lost Love bar tenders, Nick, Jared and Stuart bust their butts behind the bar. They are quick to serve and never leave you sitting with an empty glass. On our second day there, they already had our drink preferences memorized and served us immediately after we sat down. They made us feel like royalty in a small town. Restaurant Hostess, Sam, ALWAYS had a beautiful smile on her face as she greeted us for dinner. My 8yr old daughter became very attached to Sam during our stay. Sam made us feel like family. On one of her days off, she even joined us on the slopes! Restaurant Servers, Macy and Abby, happily catered to our every need. The pretzel bread and butter was amazing! My son would order the chicken noodle soup almost every night, he loved it so much. My husband's steak was always cooked to perfection and definitely worth the wait. Texas Reds knows how to cook their steaks! I feel in love with the turkey patty topped with chili relleno. I think I ordered it three times during our stay! My daughter loved their salads and the kids chicken fingers. "They have the perfect ranch dressing", she says. We were pleasantly satisfied after every meal which made it easy to eat there often. Fresh coffee, cookies and donuts were provided every morning in the lounge area upstairs. When we had down time, we enjoyed relaxing on the cozy couch watching TV. If you're up for puzzles and board games or books, there is a nice area upstairs with tables and chairs for the whole family to spend time together while the snow falls right outside. The view of the town from the balcony is breathtaking! We had adjoining rooms with a shared bathroom in-between. My husband and I shared a cozy Queen size bed on one side. There were two twin size beds on the opposite side which was perfect for our two children to share while still having their own space. Housekeeping was always close by if we needed anything at all. The area was always clean and tidy. Owners, Steve and Priscilla, would join us for casual conversation and a drink at the end of the night. They are warm, welcoming and so very appreciative! Steve and Priscilla are genuinely great people with the BIGGEST hearts. We are so happy to have met them. Learning about their establishment history and growth over the years was fascinating! Their passion and high standards for excellent service only solidifies that we chose the PERFECT place to spend Christmas with our family. They have great staff that seem to share the same passion, too. At the end of our trip, we were sad to leave our new friends. No doubt, we will be back again! read more

They make THE best filets, ribeyes and T-bones that I have ever had in my life. Make sure you get their house dressing (and order a bottle of it to-go.) But it's not just the amazing food that makes Red's so great, it's the servers, the kitchen staff, the locals, the owners; and as the best treat, the honey-whiskey voice of singer/songwriter Mike Addington who plays nightly. He is the real thing. He will keep you enchanted at the full-service bar, or wherever you sit at the restaurant. I play his cd over and over again. Even if you don't stay in Red River (but why wouldn't you? Skiing, hiking, fishing, camping, pure mountain inspiration...), Reds is worth a side-trip into town. I had no problem throwing shells on the floor, my mother on the other hand was "too tidy" for that. There's not many places to eat around here and the options are limited. It's a small town. My family and I ate here a couple of times. Each time, I've enjoyed the service and food. The moment you take your seat they are ready to take your drink order. I ate their Grilled Chicken Salad and their Lean Ground Buffalo (10oz) with baked potato and salad. For me who has to pay attention to food intake, this place provides some great options. If you come in around 5pm you'll be ahead of the crowd. This place does get busy around dinner time. I would have loved to try their desserts because they look and sound delicious. I've heard their brownie bottom sundae is delicious! I will live vicariously through you...lol! read more

They quoted us a 45 minute wait time and were waiting for over an hour and a half, which if we would have known they were out of half of the menu we would have gone somewhere else.
