    Steak fries

I normally get the family meals from Texas Roadhouse because they're pretty good and cost effective. But I was disappointed that at this location they were sold out of all but two and I didn't care for either one of those. So, we all ended up ordering our own meal but I think that worked out for the best. I personally have the beef tips with mashed potatoes and gravy and french fries and everything was good. I asked for the meat well done and most of it was... There were a few pink pieces that I fed to my dog. I also had the fried pickles appetizer and they forgot the horseradish but someone shared their ranch with me instead. Everybody seemed to enjoy their meal and even though this is a chain, I feel like the prices here were slightly better than other ones I have been to.

We hit up the Texas Roadhouse in Ammon, Idaho on Black Friday, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]even though the place was totally packed, the whole experience was awesome.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our huge group didn't slow down the staff one bit; the service was friendly and super efficient, which really made the evening stress-free. I ordered the petite filet, and honestly, it was cooked perfectly--tender and spot on--plus the baked potato was warm and delicious. This spot proves that even when they're slammed, they can still deliver great food and top-notch service for a fun, casual lunch out.

Went to Texas Roadhouse in Idaho Falls last night. I asked for a salad (appetizer) and a smokehouse burger with cheddar cheese and requested it be cooked "medium". The server replied OK so medium will be a "warm pink center" I reply "medium means cook to 135° if the burger arrives to the table well done I'm going to send it back." Her reply was that "our cooks do not use meat thermometers" to prepare food. We waited 32 minutes. My salad AND my burger arrive simultaneously. Plate is served to me. Server walks away. I cut the burger in 1/2 and look to see a completely well done burger (literally charred) . The server came back to the table 1 minute later and I showed her the meal. I said this is well done. I asked for medium. She says Yep it sure is looks well done what do you want me to do? Would you like another one? I said I would like another one and I'd like it to be cooked medium or 135°.... She said well I'll just leave that one with you at the table so you can snack on it if you want while I go request them to make another one. I didn't snack on it. I just ate my salad. 27 minutes later burger number two arrives being delivered by what I assume to be a manager, followed by the server. He put the burger down in front of me and I say "please, don't go anywhere. I'd like to cut into this before you leave." Upon cutting into it, it is apparent that the burger is now raw on the inside. It's not rare. It's literally RAW...see picture below. I've now been at this restaurant for more than an hour (90 minutes) and have been served two pieces of meat that are completely unacceptable, and the raw one possibly illegal to serve. Also, my companion has finished her meal more than 35 minutes ago. I think it really says something about the service industry and restaurants when a steakhouse is unable to prepare a medium hamburger given more than an hour and two tries, and then they readily admit that they do not use meat thermometer to prepare their food. I will never be going to another Texas Roadhouse. It also took 3 attempts for them to remove the meal I DID NOT EAT from the bill. Attempt 2 was actually MORE money than the first bill was. I call the server over - I say "please explain how after you took a meal OFF my bill, the bill is now MORE than the original bill." She says "are you sure?" Look sweetheart, I'm a CPA, I think I can discern when a number is larger than another number. THIS is why I stay home and prepare all my own food. Being served over, under cooked beef that is overly salted at a "steakhouse" is complete nonsense. And they ADMIT they don't use temperature probes. Yeah, maybe don't tell that to customers and then serve them inedible food.

Mac & Cheese? More like wack and cheese tf is this. my microwaved Mac and cheese taste and looks better than this. Waitress was cool tho.

Need new cooks. Sent steak back twice asked for a medium, came back raw twice. Customer service was good but seen better food.

We were both so pleased with our experience here tonight! The place was super duper busy but there were still multiple waitresses who were really attentive to our table. I was impressed with how chill the staff was. The food was awesome! For the quality and amount of food you get it's super fair priced. Obviously the rolls were BUSSIN. 10/10, I'd definitely come back again

    Cavalry approved establishment!!!

We ate here recently with high hopes based on word of mouth reviews from friends in town…read more The people who work here are very friendly, and the atmosphere is good. The focaccia bread is delicious. The wait for food is agonizingly long. Over 2 hours in total. We received our food and it really wasn't great. The steak was cold and the fries were soggy. The pasta I tried was very acidic and was not what I'd consider "au poivre". There were no green peppercorns in the sauce or anywhere on the plate. The restaurant was very busy so I can attribute some of the wait and inaccuracy to that, but we waited a long time for drinks as well. I really wanted to like this place, but it just didn't cut it for us.

Setting and ambiance are nice and service was on par as well but the food just erased all that with its underwhelming performance. I ordered the beef ribs. They were overcooked and surprisingly had hardly any meat on them at all. If the taste had made up for it, it's something I could have overlooked but even the taste was not good. It tasted like someone had literally thrown them into a fire-pit with no seasoning. My brother in law ordered the ribeye. He ordered his med rare. It came out medium well. Asked for a replacement. New one came out rare when he cut into it. Sent it back to add some char to it. Came out again and was acceptable but no seasoning and very bland. We really looked forward to this place but unfortunately it did not deliver. Maybe it will get better after a few tweaks.

Our booth was right under the speakers so it was a bit loud. I made reservations for our anniversary and specifically called out that it was. Upon arriving the hostess asked how many and she went to seat us. I had to tell her that we had reservations. We were seated right next to the kitchen doors. The server came up pretty quick and wrote his name down on the paper. No comment about our anniversary. He seemed very new to the job. The New Year's Eve menu had blackened gator and I had to try it. When it showed up I was not impressed with presentation of the 5 pieces on the plate. The flavor however was great. Good texture and not chewy. Good win. I ordered the lobster and fillet and my wife got a chicken cobb salad. The waiter had to come back to ask how I wanted my steak. When it was brought out I was very underwhelmed. The lobster tail was in pieces. The fillet was horribly cut and looked like a kid butchered it. The lobster pieces were tough and overall not good. The fillet had good flavor but overcooked. My wife enjoyed her salad. The saving grace was the GM Aaron. He stopped by to ask how everything was an I gave him an honest review. He was very open and with us and I really appreciate his feedback. We will definitely come back to try the regular menu and looking forward to Salmon Wellington around Valentine's Day.

That made us a little nervous, but also so excited . Once inside that nervousness is quickly replaced by friendly people. You can immediately feel that it's a real local favorite. Everybody's eyes are on you when you enter, but that is definitely not to make you uncomfortable. They are smiling and welcoming. You're offered boisterous warm greetings, with that welcome home feel. With stools at the counter, some very big tables and chairs sitting off to the left for big parties to sit at, and booths for the typical size party, the seating was perfectly spaced and comfortable. It truly allowed for tables of regulars to intermingle. It was definitely rustic, folksy and the people were all friendly regulars like they were co-owners. The artwork on the wall was just so--cow hand and ranch family murals. I truly expected John Wayne any moment to come drawling in and tell me, "I think you need to sit down, partner." The small basic menu was one page--That was it. Having mostly the basics to choose from, I chose a nice sausage patty, and three scrambled eggs with cheese and onions. We were half expecting half effort food--boy were we wrong. I also couldn't help myself I had to order one of these fresh made goods displayed on that board. Knowing that it was a side to my already ordered dish, I asked my server. "How big is a slice of banana cream pie, is it a good side." Lol..." Yeah it's not that big" well I should have known by the Texas feel of the local little diner. When the cream pie came out I could have eaten it for both breakfast and lunch and been plenty full lol. It occupied my every thought, with fresh bananas and cream, a smothering of whipped cream over the top, and a perfect semi-sweet crumbly crust, I devoured it quickly! The fresh cracked eggs, not overly greasy from frying up on an overworked grill, and the flavorful sausage combined with what seemed to be hand grated potato hash browns, mixed with onions cheese and spices. This was a classic downhome cooked meal. It was easy to tell why the place was filling up with customers quickly. It didn't get too crowded, but the patrons definitely tripled by the time we were finished with our meal. The server was friendly and handled all of the orders expertly, and lol, her little boy brought the dishes out to the table for you. It started to feel more like eating at a B&B. And the food is amazing--you have to go here. That board that I was telling you about, more fresh made foods were being written on the board while we were eating --the menu lived. This was an amazing experience, with rustic artwork all over the walls, friendly people willing to scoot over so that we can take pictures. We will definitely be back here. When you're in Idaho Falls, or even if you live here, take a 3 minute trip up 20 to visit this wonderful diner. I promise you won't regret it. I was having a little bit of a hard time time coming up with this review because I definitely wanted to make this a John Wayne movie lol. It's the perfect spot for hearty, traditional Midwestern comfort food. After all, how can you visit Potato Country without enjoying at least one perfectly baked potato? A little fun (and mostly useless) fact: Potatoes are typically harvested once a year in the fall and stored in underground bunkers. The ones you usually buy in stores are often nearly a year old. And if a potato starts to sprout? It simply becomes part of the next season's crop. The moment you walk in, it feels like stepping into a time machine. The interior is warm and cozy, with darker tones, rich red accents, wood-paneled walls, and glass partitions. There's even a mud room and a coat rack ready for those chilly Idaho winter nights. We were greeted and seated almost immediately. Our server introduced herself right away and took our drink orders with a smile. I went with the Ultimate Philly--tender, well-done strips of their famous prime rib, grilled onions and peppers, all smothered in a rich cheese sauce. It came with a side of au jus for dipping and your choice of side. I couldn't resist ordering the Jaker's Baker, a massive Idaho potato loaded with all the toppings. The prime rib was flavorful and juicy, and the baked potato was hearty and satisfying--the ultimate classic meat-and-potatoes meal. When I travel, I love experiencing local flavor, and Jakers delivers exactly that.

April 2026 Idaho Falls, Idaho…read more I was surprised to see this place is attached to a hotel when I drove up. Typically I do not eat at restaurants that are attached to a hotel. However, Yelp told me it was a 4.3 star place to eat. I asked if they had any nonalcoholic beers. The waiter brings me a can of beer to show me what it is. When I tell him that I will have it. He says well I'll just take it back and put it in a glass. So they bring me a 16 ounce glass with the beer poured in and it only filled 12 ounces. I ordered the Nacho Mama's Dip. It is a chicken nacho dip. The waiter told me it was a large portion so I am eating that just as my meal. My husband ordered the fish and chips. When you walk in the front door, the bar is right there. Pretty large bar for one to sit and enjoy a drink or a meal. To the right our booths and high tables that line the wall as well as some booths in the middle of the restaurant that make you feel like you are sitting under a gazebo. There are tables and booths on the far wall as well. The tables are cut to appear like a live edge wood top table. The booths sit too low and the table sits high. Even my husband who is 6'2 felt an imbalance with the table to chair. My nachos come out and the cheese sauce is dripping off the side of the dish. It is an absolute mess. The nacho chips are off to the side. The toppings consist of black olives and onions with four pieces of diced tomatoes. Accompanied by a side plastic dish is salsa, sour cream, and guacamole. The guacamole is definitely not homemade. My biggest complaint is the cheese sauce is definitely from a can. The cheese that they did put on the nachos was a slice of cheese that was not even melted. See picture. Reminds me that I am eating in a restaurant attached to a hotel. There are no beans. The chicken is mixed in with the cheese sauce. And it is sparingly there. This dish is absolutely disgusting! The fish and chips were terrible. They're served in a basket with four pieces of fish and they sit upon fresh cut fries. The fish was not good. The batter has a odd taste. Perhaps the oil it is fried in? I think I would've been better off going to Culver's and having their fish platter. Although my beYr was in a can, it was very cold. It was truly the best part of my meal. I am so disappointed that yelp led me to this place. This is my warning to others. Stay away. We had two completely different meals and neither of them were good.
