I would like to start off by saying that this place is Awesome! From the moment I walked in, it was such a warm and unique environment. The inside is very nice, and charming. Felt like I was eating in another state or something. Really forgot I was in Indiana. The hosts, and staff are beyond accommodating and respectful, and waitresses are quick and attentive. The food is AMAZING. The rolls with the spread was sooo good. The chicken bites in the appetizer we got was extremely tasty. Don't get me started on the Smokehouse Burger!!! This place was not my cup of tea. It was extremely loud, for one thing. I'm not a big steak eater, so I ordered the fried catfish. The menu says "lightly breaded", but the cornmeal breading was overpowering. The sauce that is served with it would be good if it weren't so salty. In fact, the main thing I tasted was salt, including the steak fries. My friends all had steaks and only one of them was cooked as requested. It took a while to get the server's attention to take one of the steaks back to be re-fired. The servers all seemed to be chatting instead of keeping an eye on their tables. When we finally got her eye, she took her time getting to us, stopping at another table first. Then, when the checks came, the wrong person got a courtesy discount - so that had to be corrected, too. We have eaten at the Dyer location several times, and we have never had a bad experience. The service is always prompt and efficient. The food is great, and the quality is consistant during each visit. The manager usually visits out table to make sure that everything is to our liking. On the very rare occasion that our steaks were over cooked (we like them medium rare), they have always brought out correctly cooked steaks in a timely manner. Try the loaded sweet potatoe with brown sugar and a toasted marshmallow topping! It's fantastic!! read more

Just went there tonight with the family...probably never going back again. Our dinner was pretty straight forward...my wife ordered the sirloin steak medium rare with shrimp dinner. They brought the first steak out well done. We flagged down the server to have this fixed...after 15 minutes they brought out another steak...the second steak they brought out a was still mooing. It's not like the restaurant was even busy...they just couldn't figure out how to cook a steak medium rare...pretty basic...especially when you pride yourself on your steaks and call yourself a steakhouse. When we asked to talk the manager he said he would fix this for us...he just took $6 off the bill for screwing up a $17 dinner and didn't even deliver the check to us himself...he sent the waitress over to deliver it. Our experience was pretty bad...my wife was really angry that she did not get to enjoy her dinner with the rest of us. Okay okay so this is a pretty basic food chain restaurant BUT they do have some good deals. If you are allergic to nuts do not at all come here. They got peanuts all over the place. If you enjoy a good roll and are not allergic to peanuts, do come here. They have bottomless buttered rolls with cinnamon butter spread. It's amazing. They have a decent size menu as well. I decided to order the combo meal of a 6 oz sirloin and ribs. This was only $16.99. I asked my steak to be done medium but it was only half done medium. The people I was with all ordered steak to be done medium but only 4/6 of us got that. One of the people sent it back because it was so well done but when she received a new one back it was still a bit over cooked. Due to this we got the steak taken off the check. I think all meals come with 2 sides which is great! They have a nice selection of sides. We went on a Monday not thinking it was busy but it was still busy. Also it was like everyones birthday that day so they had the constant celebration ritual that they do there. Also it's kids not on Mondays so the employees started randomly dancing at one point. Should be zero stars. Food was incredibly salty. But that's not the worst part. The manager, I believe named Alan, is very obviously not trained well. Not only did he not help us with our complaint, but he was very condescending in his handling of the situation. Let me explain. The restaurant's signature margarita is apparently served with a mixture of 3 top-shelf tequilas. I ordered it, looking forward to a tasty treat. What I got was basically sour mix. I politely addressed my dissatisfaction to the waitress who apologized but said she talked to her manager who said there was nothing they could do for me. So I asked to speak to the manager directly. A young man, probably in his 20's came out to the table; I relayed the problem once again. He reiterated that there was nothing they could do and proceeded to tell me they were not in the business of getting me drunk...what? I just wanted a correctly made drink. Really how much would it have cost to bring out a shot of tequila...that I believe was missing in the first place. As disappointed as I was, I told him that I would be happy if they just credited me for the drink that I had barely touched; he refused even that. I have no idea where this guy was trained managerially, but it is obviously lacking. After walking out of a Japanese restaurant just two blocks away, we came to Texas Roadhouse famished and with a bad attitude. When we walked in the door, we could hear the chefs singing in the kitchen as they slaved. The hostess was smiling. The servers were working very hard as well the Busboys and expeditors. We were seated in the time I promised and our waitress was extremely attentive and had a wonderful, positive attitude. We picked up dinner tonight because I was tired of cooking and there were no restaurants open that could offer indoor seating due to the Corvina 19 virus. This restaurant is well organized and get your orders out fast. They even put a complimentary bag of peanuts in with your order. They also included rolls and honey butter. They were careful to pack our salads in a separate bag from our hot food. Which is important so your salads remain cold and crisp. Another restaurant packed our salads with the hot food and we had to toss the salads out, hot lettuce "yucky". Had a bad experience this past weekend. I utilized their call-ahead system and was given a number for when I check in. I told them I was on my way and would be there in 15 minutes. The person who spoke with me on the phone did not warn me about anything. When we arrived and checked in, we were told "the wait will be close to 2 hours". Needless to say, we were upset that we were not warned ahead of time as of course we didn't want to eat after 9 pm. They need to train staff who take call ahead calls! I like treating friends out to steak dinners. I've passed by the Texas Roadhouse a number of times on the way to the Outback. One day I decided to take a friend and try out the Roadhouse, since we went to the Outback the week before. The Outback is good. Consistent and good. Never a complaint. But the Roadhouse had a friendlier, humbler atmosphere, the service was slightly better and the steaks seemed bigger, juicier and less expensive. That was three months ago. Tonight I'm taking that same friend out for steak again. Like I said, Outback is fine, but when asked where my friend would like to go? The answer was as expected- the Roadhouse! My family and I came here recently and had a great experience. Food was great as always and service was exceptional. The reason I'm leaving a review is because of a manager going above and beyond. We had a solo fly nagging us, (not because of uncleanliness by any means) and the manger that checked in on us heard our complaints and got rid of the fly. Ironic that I was visiting from Texas and the family wants to eat at a Texas themed resturant. I have to say, the steak and ribs are outstanding, snake bites are very good and the homemade bread is in a class of its own. Beer is cold and drinks were great... Above all of this sits a staff that are some of the best I've seen in a long time. Our bartender Chas... was the best. I'm not a fan of chain restaurants but in this particular area it is very difficult to find a place that will accommodate healthy requests let alone offer a lean protein or vegetable that hasn't been slathered in grease. This place was fantastic! My filet was a great cut, cooked perfect at a very decent price. I was able to have vegetables that were steamed not overcooked and a salad that did not consist of bread & cheese. Although, they have these options available if you choose. Food was excellent. Sirloin steak was cooked exactly how I wanted it. Cesear salad was good along with my significant others shrimp and steak. It was our first time there and it turned out to be one of the better places we've ate at for a long time. If you want a good steak go to this location. Also the waiters and waitresses were very nice and helpful. They have a nice system going on there with plenty of help to go around. The atmosphere is very busy but I'm not saying that in a bad way at all. This isn't a place you'd go to have silence. Lighting is perfect. Tvs all around. Neon signs. Best 12 oz ribeye I've had since I've been downtown Chicago. Husband had the 20oz bone in ribeye and said it had too much fat. My husband and I finally got a chance to go Texas Roadhouse in Dyer, IN again for a dinner together. When our server Allison came to greet us, we explained that we had been having a long, hard week and wanted to take our time in eating our meal. While we understand fast service is usually a priority, would would MUCH appreciate it if she could slow things down a little to give us time to enjoy each course while we got a chance to talk. She did just that !!! Everything was perfectly timed without her hovering over us to check to see if she should put in the next part of our meal. We SO appreciated her graciousness in letting us enjoy a much needed, enjoyable, not rushed dinner together. Keep up the GREAT WORK Allison. I did not think I'd be interested in going here but....its local and my boyfriend and I thought we'd give it a shot out of curiousity. I am not crazy about the atmosphere at all, in fact I don't like it at all. I am not into the loud yelling and shout out singing for dining guests birthdays nor the basic loud atmosphere in general. I have kids and enjoy dining out with them however, I do not enjoy hearing screaming children or loud groups and this is where you'll hear all that full force it seems. Why have I done this review? Two reasons. To note the atmosphere since some people really hate that kind of thing as much as I do, but....obviously to give the steak some props. I am a steak lover to the max, and their steak is amazing.!!!! I am not crazy about their sides at all, I'll usually just go for the salad, but I will tolerate the noisiness and silly dancing and loud birthday announcements just to bite into one of those delicious steaks. They also have soft warm bread rolls and the sweet cinnamon butter which we both enjoy. So there you go.......I rated this place at 4 just because of the steak. The atmosphere I rate a one, blah! When the buzzer went off we were taken to our table to be seated. When we got there, the table was not even cleaned off and we had to sit to the side and wait a couple minutes for someone to clean it off for us. After that we asked for the kids to get their food first so they didn't have to wait for us which was a bad idea if I knew it would be 30 minutes later when we were getting ours. The kids were already done eating when we got to eat and the people behind us had already got their food and we were there before they came in. And then we had a waitress name Liz that made a comment to my wife talking about her stress level and how to manage it. I have had more bad experiences at this Texas Roadhouse than good. Just when I am done going there, I have a really good experience. Im writing specifically about Mother's Day dinner. I called ahead of time at 2:15 for dinner. They told me 90 minutes. We went at 4pm. There was a line of cars waiting, but we were parked pretty quickly. We waited and waited, and waited. At about 40 minutes in, because it was raining, so I understood they may be a bit behind, I flagged someone down and asked if they could check on our order and how far we were on the list. She never came back. About 20 minutes later, I asked another person, he checked his phone and said that it was ready they were just waiting for someone to bring it out. Another 15 minutes, I finally flagged down a 3rd person and he went in and brought back the bill to pay. Shortly after, about, 10 minutes, we finally got our food...cold and the steaks were not cooked properly to medium well! To say I was upset was not even close. I was BEYOND that! I am typically, honestly I am, a very forgiving, seeing the bright side, kind of person. However, not only was it Mother's Day, but it was my 23rd wedding anniversary. We made that dinner our main event for the day, taking food to our parents and finally being able to sit with them and eat. It took me a day to calm down so that I saw it rationally! All they had to do was call the cell phone they took when they took my order and call people to tell them they were a little behind. Why didn't I take it back right away? We were hungry! We microwaved it, except the steaks, which did not get eaten. Steak sucks microwaved. AND like I said there was a long line. Im not wanting anything other than, GET IT RIGHT next time.
